Festive Coquette - Lophornis chalybeus

Lophornis chalybeus (Apodiformes - Trochilidae) is a South American species of hummingbird commonly referred to as Festive Coquette. Males of this species boast elegant, green cheek tufts which are tipped with white. Both sexes display a white rump band as do many others in the genus, but Festive Coquettes lack the rufous on the head.

This species occurs in Brazil and Uruguay, and is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List.
