30 Day BioShock Challenge Day 27: What is your favorite audio diary?
This was the moment where Tenenbaum became my favorite character of the first game. The writing is still a bit Nolanesque in its wording, but I can chalk that up to just being how Tenenbaum talks. She is pretty much the only character who really showed regret about her actions in Rapture and actually did something about it. The few others who do either come across as very insincere or don’t show up until BioShock 2.
This one was hard to choose but I choose the Arrival at the Lighthouse, because this just dumbfounded me when I first played it. I really had to laugh then because I had the feeling me and Booker alike are just really thrown into this mission with no idea what to do.
A/N: I had an idea and went with it. I may do an actual story with this one day. And, as always, tagging literally anyone else who has the guts to do this bitch of a challenge.
Bucky is at war with himself. There hasn’t been one person that has made him feel this way: curious, entranced, perhaps even a little scared.
He looks at you now — eyes on the road, but far beyond what he can see. This is the same girl who’d been overjoyed by a street quartet on the street earlier. The same girl who’d claimed to know more about characters in a storybook than she did about herself. The same girl who’d been raised on lies. The same girl who could peek through cracks in the past, present, or the future.
“Y/N,” he calls. You look at him. “You should get some rest.”
You crack your mouth open to speak, but shut it the next second. You’re hesitating. But why? “Tell me,” you start eventually say, “if you’d think me strange if I told you I’m scared of knowing who I am?”
He doesn’t need to think about it. “I wouldn’t.” He pauses. “Get some sleep, Y/N.”
Most of everything Ryan or Cohen said xDD Let me pick some I really like that isn’t from any of these two:
“Ocean water is colder than a witch’s tit.”
“What can I do with this one, Aphrodite? She WON’T… STAY… STILL! I want to make them beautiful, but they always turn out WRONG! That one… too fat! This one… too tall! This one… too symmetrical! And now… what’s this, Goddess? An intruder? He’s ugly. Ugly! UGLY! UGLY! ” (I freezed when he looked at me, I was hoping he wouldn’t see me just yet. TURNS OUT I WAS WRONG :‘DD)
“They offered you the city… and you refused it. And what did you do instead? What I’ve come to expect of you. You saved them. You gave them the one thing that was stolen from them: A chance. A chance to learn, to find love, to live. And in the end, what was your reward? You never said it, but I think I know: a family. ”
Again, I quite love at lot of Scenes, most of them with the Luteces or with Elizabeth. But the favorite one has to be when I first lay eye on Columbia! The way we break through the dark stormy clouds and suddenly everything is light… Hallelujah! It made an even deeper impact when I saw it on my second playthrough, because knowing the City this Hallelujah is not quite as holy as it seems to be…
