biological functions

I love the whole “Humans are the Weird Aliens” stuff but, like, consider.

One of our future goals in medicine is to be able to perform transplants with no problems, and many people donate their dead bodies for such a thing. Furthermore, we’re resilient as a species and won’t lose a fight until we die.

So a few hundred years from now, we’re integrated into the galactic community, and you don’t want to fuck with a human. Even if you cut they’re arm off, they’ll just take the severed arm and beat you to death with it, and then go to a hospital to get an arm donated by a dead guy grafted on as a replacement.

Consider the idea that maybe only Earth Life naturally produces adrenaline and the rest of the Galactic community treats it like a drug. Imagine having your non-human friend suggesting you go to rehab for your “problem” not realizing it’s literally a biological function?

I’ve seen stuff like Death People and Space Orcs but to be honest we’ll probably be considered more like Drugged Up Death Orcs.

Let’s destroy the narrative that getting your first period means that you’re “becoming a woman,” or “you are a woman now,” because, firstly, do you know when some girls get their first period?

When they’re 8/9 years old. Eight or fucking nine years old. The average is 10-15 years old. Do you know how damaging it is to excitedly tell a *child* that they’re “a woman now!” The presence of your period does not indicate the physical maturity or emotional maturity of being a woman. Is it any wonder that “girls mature faster,” when we are literally told that we are “becoming a woman,” because of a biological function. What 9 year old boy is told that he’s becoming a man? Let girls be girls. Periods are not exclusive to adults, normalise the fact that children get them too.

Secondly, do you know when some other girls get their period? Never. They will never get one. Period =/= woman. It is an aspect of having a biologically female body, *sometimes*. The notion that your period signals womanhood is devaluing to all of those women who will never have a period. You do not need a bodily function to signal womanhood at you in big red lights.

Being a woman is more than getting periods. Little girls are not women and women without periods are.

Saiii-chan... What do you think if Kacchan and Todoroki have a relationship(romance or friendship)? And how do you describe it??? :3 Love u, mom of 1-A class!

(okay so i must apologize b/c this is more a meta about Bakugou and Todoroki’s relationship overall instead of what you asked, even tho you said you were fine with that earlier. sorry about that!!!)

i can’t see it as a romantic relationship, personally

i think Bakugou is still angry at Todoroki for giving up during their fight at the sports festival. at the very least, he still holds a bit of a grudge over it. Bakugou doesn’t take anyone implying that he’s weak lightly, and Todoroki refusing to use his fire powers during their fight, after he used them against IZUKU, implies a lot for Bakugou:

1. that Bakugou is less impressive than Izuku. this is a very big sore spot for Bakugou, beccause he has a lot of personal issues that stem from his fear of Izuku actually having the potential to surpass him, and it’s the reason he began bullying Izuku in the first place.

2. That Todoroki doesn’t see Bakugou as worthy to use his flames against. which, again, is a sore spot. this implies that Bakugou isn’t strong enough or is too weak to have the honor to fight against Todoroki’s fire.

“Am I not strong enough for ya?”

3. Todoroki wasn’t even trying in their fight because he didn’t see Bakugou as worth fighting.

of course, the reason why Todoroki didn’t use his fire was because he was going through a lot of emotional issues, and Bakugou was at least somewhat aware of this.

he did overhear Izuku and Todoroki’s discussion about Endeavor and what he did to Todoroki and his mom.

the bottom panels show up immediately after Todoroki’s.

how long Bakugou was listening in and how much he actually heard is up for debate, but we do know that he did overhear about Todorki’s home life and his declaration against Endeavor and his resolve not to use his flames.

however, Bakugou has a massive inferiority complex, particularly in reference to Izuku, and the fact that Todoroki was able to use his fire against Izuku is what really bothers Bakugou. Todoroki isn’t even trying to win during their fight.

he isn’t even bothering.

look at how upset Bakugou is here. he looks like he’s about to break down in tears.

that’s how important this was to Bakugou. he’s literally about to cry because of this. and one of the reasons this fight was so important for Bakugou comes from early on in the series.

(the second image is a pic i took from my phone of the official translation)

immediately after Bakugou lost to Izuku during the Heroes vs. Villains exam, after Momo explained exactly how Bakugou fucked up for the entire class to hear, Todoroki comes and finishes the exam within minutes.

he barely had to do anything and he fucking won without breaking a sweat. in other words: he completely showed up Bakugou after Bakugou lost control, got angry and totally fucked up.

it was the first time Bakugou realized that there are people out there that are stronger than him. that there are people that he might not be able to beat. it was the first time Bakugou realized that he might not be the best, and he was faced with the fact that he might not be able to hold a candle to Todoroki.

so for Bakugou, their fight at the sports festival was very, very personal for him.

hell, even for a moment, Bakugou actually agreed with Izuku when he cheered Todoroki on to fight his all against Bakugou.

but Todoroki was distracted; with his home life, with Endeavor, and worse (in Bakugou’s point of view), with Izuku.

it’s just moments before their fight, and Todoroki doesn’t even acknowledge Bakugou when he accidentally barges into the wrong room.

no, instead of acknowledging Bakugou, Todoroki immediately starts talking about Izuku.

Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, Izuku.

of course this pisses Bakugou off. this is HIS FIGHT and Deku is already fucking with it and he’s NOT EVEN THERE

i do think that Bakugou was trying to help Todoroki in his own way. he was trying to get Todoroki to understand that his fire is just a biological function of his body. it’s his own power, no one else’s.

there’s a reason why Horikoshi specifically had Bakugou say these lines, especially during Izuku and Todoroki’s fight.

however, i think the reason why Bakugou did this was mostly to get Todoroki to overcome his hesitance because he wanted to fight Todoroki at his full power. think of it as Bakugou saying “Get the fuck over yourself and fight me at your full potential so I can prove myself.”

(tho a bit of it may be because Bakugou does care, just a bit. the stricken expression he has after Todoroki explains his personal history is very telling, and it tells the audience that it did affect Bakugou somewhat.

“And since I don’t give a shit, feel free to use that fucking flame side on me…!”

he very specifically denies caring about Todoroki’s personal history, tho he may have just done so to rile Todoroki up to get him in the mood for a fight. but also because he really just wants to fight against Todoroki’s flames)

he knows why Todoroki doesn’t use his fire. but he still used his fire against Izuku. and Bakugou wants part of that, he wants to fight Todoroki on equal ground and prove that he’s the best.

Bakugou wants so badly to test himself against Todoroki because of what happened during and after the Heroes vs. Villains exam. he wants to prove himself against Todoroki, to prove that he can beat this kid that he once thought he couldn’t. he wants to have a fair fight against Todoroki and fucking WIN without any of Deku’s bullshit getting in the way, and yet it’s already interfering before the fight even starts.

that’s why Bakugou was so angry that Todoroki wasn’t taking this fight seriously. that’s why he was about to fucking cry at the end of it, when he won. because he didn’t win due to his own strength, he didn’t prove himself in any way, he only won because his opponent refused to go all out against him, and that’s a huge slap in the face for Bakugou.

there isn’t any point in winning a fight where your opponent doesn’t even try to fight against you. and Bakugou hates being underestimated and taken lightly.

and again, this was a huge personal insult against Bakugou in particular. he wanted to prove something to himself but Todoroki just wasn’t in the right headspace to fight back at full power.

of course, none of this is Todoroki’s fault. he had a lot on his mind.

but for Bakugou, this is all extremely difficult for him. he continues to hold this grudge against Todoroki prior to the second exam, where he threatens/challenges both Izuku and Todoroki.

hell, he even says Todoroki’s name here, which shows how serious he is. Bakugou never says anyone’s name, unless he respects them or they got his attention. i’m fairly certain that, during this moment, it’s not out of respect; Todoroki just royally pissed Bakugou off and part of that manifested as Bakugou using Todoroki’s name to show just how angry and determined he was at this moment

tho Bakugou does seem to calm down a bit after the second exam, after he was forced to work with Izuku.

even afterwards tho, where they’re paired up during the trial of courage, Bakugou is trying to get a different partner, any other partner besides Todoroki, because he’s still pissed about what happened.

(lmao i’m fairly certain Ojirou doesn’t wanna pair with Todoroki because he got his ass royally kicked by him in the first exam)

i think that Todoroki is trying to make up for what he did to Bakugou in his own way, but doesn’t really know how. he realized that he did Bakugou a disservice during their fight, and feels bad about it.

i believe this is why he tried so hard to rescue Bakugou when he was kidnapped by the League of Villains/AFO.

out of all the kids, he was one of the few who was 100% set on rescuing Bakugou from the start. absolutely nothing would stop him from going and rescuing Bakugou.

now, the reason why he was so dead set on this is up for speculation.

personally, i think part of it was Todoroki trying to make up for what he did to Bakugou during the Sports Festival by helping to rescue him.

part of it may be because Bakugou was kidnapped from right in front of him and he couldn’t do a thing to stop it, and he feels responsible for it.

another part may be because it’s part of his ideal of what a hero should be, which is rescuing people when you know you have the ability to, regardless of the consequences (which may be a call back to the Stain incident with Iida. if he and Izuku hadn’t shown up, Iida very well could’ve died)

anyway, the point i’m trying to make here is that Todoroki holds no ill will towards Bakugou. rather, he feels bad for letting Bakugou down, and tried his damnedest to rescue him, even after Bakugou made it clear that he doesn’t like Todoroki.

in fact, they seem to have a fairly….. amiable relationship, at least for Bakugou’s standards.

it’s mostly just…. Bakugou getting angry and shouting, and Todoroki just not really reacting to him. i’m sure Bakugou is still fairly angry about everything in regards to Todoroki, but it doesn’t seem quiet as….volitile or personal as before.

and again, Todoroki holds no ill will towards Bakugou. there are only two moments where Todoroki seems truly angry or frustrated at Bakugou, and one of them is when Bakugou brings up his home life (which. yeah), and the second is just because he’s frustrated that Bakugou wants to use his explosions in the forest in order to fight the villain, which would only cause them more problems.

i think Bakugou is slowly letting go of his grudge. very, very slowly. it was a very personal issue for him and it’s hard for him to just let that go. but after seeing All Might retire and feeling like the cause of it, and feeling all that guilt… not to mention, he now knows the story behind Izuku, All Might, and One for All, and is actually supporting Izuku (someone he hated for so long).

his feelings are becoming somewhat healthier now that most of those issues have been discussed. not quite resolved, because stuff like that doesn’t happen over night, but it’s getting there.

now tho, he might be more willing to try and let some of those angry feelings towards Todoroki go. i doubt it’ll be anytime soon, however. Bakugou is someone who holds long grudges about this kind of stuff. but i think he is slowly letting them go.

it helps that Todoroki doesn’t really react to Bakugou’s anger at all, haha.

The above photo? My friend and I, happy, soaking up the sun’s energy and each other’s energy.

The other night, a doctor in the emergency room that I work with said that I radiate light, and he can tell that I’m well connected to my surroundings. Little did I know that he meant it literally. We’ve been discussing photons emitted by human bodies. How he thinks in terms of science, doesn’t necessarily “believe” in God, but thinks that the world gravitates around the concept of light. Another doctor, an atheist, has discussed the Higgs Boson with me, saying that he thinks we have been looking at this from the wrong angle. He thinks there’s a correlation between particle physics, subatomic particles, light, photon emission, biochemistry, happiness, and our health/existence in general. He even, in a way, thinks of light, if anything, as “god”. Which I find absolutely intriguing.

I’ve spent the past several hours reading about Nobel laureates, physicists, and even MIT’s take on photon emission; but doing my best to stay away from nutty quacks, who’s explanations have no scientific basis. Here’s a research article, beginning with Planck himself:

“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as a derivative of consciousness.” —Max Planck

The development of quantum theory in the early twentieth century and the elegant Einstein equivalence established once and for all that matter is energy. Perhaps this led Einstein to state enigmatically in 1916: “For the rest of my life I want to reflect on what light is.” David Bohm (1980) also saw all of existence as an unending sea of light, a “holomovement” in which matter is a crystallized form of light. We too are left to reflect on what light itself is. Biologic science has been slow in the uptake, failing to appropriate the implications of quantum physics, and attempting to abstract bodies from their greater matrix of energy. Medical researchers and practitioners need not repeat this mistake, but can and should appropriate the knowledge of this dynamis for the healing sciences.

Researchers in the biologic sciences are beginning to come to terms with a complementary model of biologic functioning pioneered by Gurwitsch et al. (the Vernad-sky-Gurwitsch-Bauer school). Gurwitsch (1944, 1948) introduced the concepts of the morphogenetic field (1944) and mitogenetic radiation (i.e., ultra-weak photon emission from living systems). Research continues with the work of Popp (1992), Voeikov (2000), van Wijk (2001), and others. It is a brave new world wherein the basis of life is located in the world of biophotons, electron excited states (EES), and quantum coherence; biologic systems functioning as lasers (Korotkov, 2002). At a deeper level, a truly holistic approach requires vacuum biophysics (Bischof, 2000) where the potential is as important as the actual (Dürr, 1998). These perspectives portray the body more as an energy biocomputer (Gariaev, 1994; Hurtak, 1973a) than a molecular machine. A system operating in nonequilibrium thermodynamics (Beloussov and Popp, 1995; Prigogine, 1967), it is understood as open to fields and energies that from the contemporary human perspective may seem new. These fields include consciousness fields of a mind reality operating beyond the functions of neuronal interactions and microtubule structures (Stapp, 1993).

These new fields and new energy realities that have awakened human scientific curiosity are more than passing energy phenomena; in a deeper sense they reflect the structured processes of multiple-body-vehicles that already exist within the biologic complex of the human being. This paper looks at the interplay between the two: the consciousness and material realities. For if these other models are true, holism will come to have an even more expanded meaning, and holistic medicine will be compelled to include the many subtle consciousness and energy fields that interpenetrate and commingle to form the totality that we call the human being. In so doing, medicine will evolve to draw on the full healing power implied by the insight of physicist Bernard d’Espagnat, who said: “The doctrine that the world is made up of objects whose existence is independent of human consciousness turns out to be in conflict with quantum mechanics and with facts established by experiment.”

Light, energy, electromagnetic waves, vibrating the atoms that constitute our bodies. E=mc^2. We are made of matter and matter is energy.

When you wake up, go perch outside and soak up some sunlight. Turn off Netflix. Look up at the stars. Embrace those around you. Anyway, I love you guys. I know i’m not on here as much as I used to, but I’m still here. Curious as ever.

You didn’t necessarily mind assuming the role of lab rat again, at least not for them. Bruce was always up front and respectful about the tests he was conducting, and Tony’s need to thoroughly sift through any files he could find on you was well founded. Besides, there was something refreshing and mesmerising about discovering how you functioned biologically from a relatively second-hand perspective. At least this time you weren’t directly under the knife. If you were completely honest with yourself though, spending so much time in a hospital was making it much more difficult to keep repressed memories at bay.

At the end of the day, you were grateful for their hesitant yet warm acceptance of you. Technically they had captured you when you were a fugitive running from Hydra disguised as a deceased colleague from Bruce’s past. Given the circumstances and the fact that they had actually saved you from a much more nefarious fate, an extra week of poking and prodding would be the least you could do to repay their unintentional act of saving you.

About the alien in your garage... part 1

Alright authors! Let’s say your protagonist has come across an alien life form and they’re pretty sure it’s injured. Being the Big Hero of the story they elect to take it somewhere safe from the Evil Government to nurse it back to health. Say, for argument’s sake, in their garage.

But even if our Hero has some medical or veterinary training how do they go about treating such a patient without accidentally writing a medical torture story? Pet owners often poison their pets by accident with over the counter human pain killers, so how can you actually treat your injured alien?

I’m not demisexual. In fact, I’m pretty confident in the fact that I’m not demisexual. For me, that confidence is what validates demisexuality as an orientation, and most arguments against classifying demisexuality as a valid orientation piss me right off.

Sometimes, people will look at strangers and think, “wow, they’re really hot, I’d hit that.” It happens to people of all genders and orientations (minus the one in question). Even if you just keep that thought to yourself, or if you forget about them once you’ve moved on with your day, that was still you finding a complete stranger sexually attractive and it’s a perfectly natural biological function. Some forms of casual sex, like one-night stands, are based on finding a stranger sexually attractive enough to hook up with for the night. Hell, our media is obsessed with capitalizing on consumers being sexually attracted to complete strangers to sell their products. “Eye candy,” anyone? How about the “male gaze?”

So when someone tries to argue that demisexuality isn’t real because “everyone is demisexual, no one actually looks at complete strangers and wants to fuck them” what the Hell does that say about people who do have that experience from time to time? Isn’t it weird how REG rhetoric always seems to circle around to sex-shaming? And by “weird” I mean “infuriating?” And they say that a-specs are the ones who hate people who have sex, like jfc get your priorities straight, will you?

You and Bruce both looked up from your respective lab tables, grimacing at the sound of Bucky’s voice echoing down the hallway. The worry that cut through the irritation in his voice sent you running off for the medical supplies in the corner. You were enhanced in a way that gave you some level of control over biological tissue and body functions, but there was only so much you could fix.

“Bucky, I’m fine,” Steve argued through gritted teeth as the pair came into view through the glass walls of the lab, and you felt your stomach drop at the sight of the blood that stained the front of his uniform.

You let out a steady stream of quiet curse words as you cleared off the table in front of you and pulled on medical gloves.

“Y/N! This punk went and got himself shot again!” Bucky called out to you as they came through the doors.

In our new day and age of INCLUSIVE “intersectional feminism”, the word woman is now so offensive that we must erase the link between ‘woman’ and female biological functions, such as menstruation, to accommodate a minority. On top of this, we still have to save the planet and feel ashamed of our use of sanitary products. The new wave of misogyny…

Also consider: Edward seeing Yaoyorozu's powers, (that she is able to make anything just from eating) and fucking shitting himself

And imagine Winry and Hatsume within the same room. *sirens blare*

ok but Yaoyorozu actually has to know the molecular structure of what she’s making, and she can’t make something that’s alive, and she’s using the fat she gets from eating to convert into other materials, so it actually follows closely to the rules of alchemy. so i think Ed & the other alchemists would be really fascinated by her power

it’s not perfectly like alchemy, of course. but close enough

anyway Winry and Hatsume would be terrifying in a room together and they would create the ultimate mech

Izumi would terrify everyone. particularly Bakugou, b/c she’s a scarier combo of his mom and Aizawa. All Might respects and fears her b/c she reminds him of a more violent version of Nana. also they both randomly spit blood b/c they’re missing their insides

actually i think Izumi would notice that detail about All Might and they’d have a talk about it and she’d really respect the lengths he’s willing to go to be a hero. but she’d still reprimand his ass for being a complete novice as a teacher

Aizawa and Alphonse would bond over cats

Ed and Al would think Nedzu, Kouda, and Shouji are human chimera and Freaks Out

Scar and Shigaraki should never meet for various reasons. Scar scares Aizawa b/c he can’t cancel out his deconstruction alchemy, either

Ed would really respect Izuku b/c he trained to earn his power

basically everyone from FMA would freak out over how anatomy and biological functions work in MHA and eventually decide that it’s just not worth it (how do leg engines??? work?? tape from your ELBOWS??? THE FUCK IS WITH THAT ONE GIRL’S EARLOBES, AND WHY DOES THAT GUY HAVE SIX SHAPESHIFTING ARMS, AND IS THAT BIRD KID A HOMUNCULUS–)

Greed, Ling, and Kirishima, oddly enough, hit it off really well. partially b/c of their similar powers. partially b/c of their chill personalities.

All Might and Hohenheim are both those super powerful, secretly dying, extremely dorky, golden blonde awkward Dads and they try to get tips from each other without realizing that they both are still learning

Riza and Snipe have a shooting contest. it’s a tie

Endeavor pisses Roy off in the way Bakugou pisses Ed off

Alphonse an Uraraka become fast friends

Edward is shamelessly gleeful at the fact that Mineta is 3ft tall

Ed, Winry, and Ectoplasm (who has prosthetic legs) have a long talk about automail and different prosthetic technologies. (Ed is here as a visual model)

Armstrong tries to start an arm wrestling match with All Might. considering this man can change the weather with a single fucking punch, All Might wins.

Armstrong and Aoyama have a sparkle-off. Armstrong wins

everyone is actually terrified of Uraraka’s power. b/c she can just….. send them off into space. and kill them. easily

Stain and Scar have an epic battle of morals and destruction and blood

Planet Vulcan, Stardate 2238.57

Spock understood that his mother was not Vulcan, and could not be held accountable for her obvious sadness when he came home from school to find her sitting at the table with her hands pressed to her face. He was a child and therefore did not have perfect control of his emotions either, though no less so than his classmates, of that he was positive. He had cried when the shatarr he’d tried to make into a pet had died, so the posture was not unfamiliar to him.

His mother did not look up as he approached, so Spock was left hovering at the table uncertainly. He reached out hesitantly to put a hand on hers. She had removed her gloves at some point, and her skin was soft and pinkish-pale under his fingertips. He felt the sucking depths of her sadness at once, felt it under his own breastbone as though it were his own sadness.

Spock’s breath caught in a sniffle, and then he was crying as well, fat, hot tears streaking down his face. Full-blooded Vulcans did not cry – it was an inefficient waste of resources on a desert world – but Spock was not, as his classmates were so fond of reminding him, a full-blooded Vulcan.

Uncurling from her slumped posture, his mother wrapped him up in her arms and pulled him forward so she could rest her cheek on the top of his head. The embrace was not appropriate, even among close family, and the heat of their bodies quickly made it stiflingly uncomfortable, but she held onto him with the desperate strength born by her grief. Spock sobbed against her chest, and she into his hair, though he still didn’t understand why they were crying.

A rustle of movement drew them apart. Spock looked up to see his father standing in the doorway, tall and severe as ever, his face – of course – emotionless as he surveyed the scene before him. Spock’s mother sat back and let go of Spock’s shoulders. She took a moment to drag her thumbs over Spock’s cheeks, wiping away the hot rivers of saline still leaking freely from his eyes. Brushing her hands off on her robes where they fell over her knees, she repeated the gesture on herself, and then patted gently at her cheeks. She set a hand back on Spock’s shoulder, her thumb resting just above the collar of his school uniform, as though she sought to feel his pulse.

“Husband,” she greeted.

Spock felt a pang of embarrassment rippling through his mother’s grief, though she did not apologize or voice her discomfort at Sarek’s arrival. It was plain to Spock that she had meant to take her grief somewhere private, but had ‘lost track’ of the passage of time. Spock took his gaze away from her swollen eyes and looked up to his father.

“Wife,” Sarek said after a moment. He transferred his dark eyes to Spock, though he did not immediately express his disappointment over Spock’s unwarranted display of emotion. Instead, he looked back to Spock’s mother and observed, “You are… upset.”

The word had no direct translation in modern Vulcan. The closest would be that she was emotionally compromised, but that was not sufficient to express the depth of her grief. Spock approved of his father’s use of the Common vocabulary in this instance.

Spock’s mother took her left hand away from his shoulder and curled it together with her right, setting them both in her lap. Her back straightened. “My mother has died,” she explained, though her words were partially obscured by a hitch in her breath, and she started to cry again. These tears were quiet, slow and thin as they trailed over her cheeks and disappeared under the curve of her jaw.

After a long moment, Sarek crossed to the table and held out his hand, first two fingers extended. “I grieve with thee,” he said solemnly, and then surprised Spock by placing his other hand on his shoulder. It was a gesture of comfort that had not been offered to him since he began primary school.

Far more surprising and unsettling than his mother’s sadness was the sudden swelling of his father’s grief. He did not make a sound, and certainly he spared no moisture in the expression of his grief, but it was just as deep, and far darker – crushing, hot like the sand of the Fire Plains of Raal. It took Spock’s breath away. Even as his mother reached out to run her two fingers over Sarek’s, Spock unthinkingly reached up to cover his father’s hand with his own. He couldn’t understand what he was doing, but he wanted to cool that hot flash of grief.

Sarek jerked his hand away sharply, head tilted to look down at Spock. “What were you doing?”

“You are sad,” Spock answered, simply. “I meant only to assist.”

“Peculiar,” Sarek said. He transferred his attention back to his wife and said, “I will arrange transport back to Earth so that you may pay your respects in the human custom.”

He left without waiting for Spock’s mother’s agreement, his hand held stiffly at his side. Spock knew that there would be a discussion later on Spock’s apparent transgression, though he could not understand what he had done wrong. It was the Vulcan way to strictly control emotion. It was also the Vulcan way to accept aid where it was necessary and warranted. To deny the need for assistance was illogical and a matter only of pride, which – Spock had been assured – Vulcan’s did not cultivate.

“Thank you, Spock,” his mother said into the ensuing silence. “I know embraces are not logical, but your mother really needed the hug.”

Spock tipped his head. “You are human. Humans require physical contact to maintain a state of psychological and emotional balance, is that not so, Mother?” This was the reason his father had given him when explaining why he engaged in significantly more physical contact with Spock’s mother than a Vulcan normally would, even in the confines of the private home.

His mother smiled at him. “It is so, Spock.”

“If that is so, expressing gratitude over the fulfillment of a necessary biological function is not logical,” he pointed out.

BAU: the international alliance of meta-human agents.

AN: So I mean I had an idea of an AU where the BAU are meta-humans and aim to keep the secret of the meta-humans existence just that a secret, I think all of the powers are pretty close to how I feel they would be, any way enjoy.

‘The Government has always had secrets, secrets kept under lock and key and several feet of security, the BAU is once such secret, a department of highly skilled meta-humans, Humans with abilities outside of the normal abilities, mind reading, manipulation of a variety of things, control of ones mind or someone else’s. The BAU are sent out to stop the meta-humans who have gone bad, bring them in and help keep the secrets under lock and key…Now lets meet the BAU shall we?’

Mindshifter: Dr. Spencer Reid has always had direct and total control over his mental structure, being able to manipulate at will his own emotions, sensations, perceptions, consciousness, memories, personality and everything connected to his brain and mind granting highly advanced capabilities. This allows both optimal efficiency and maximal comfort in all situations, while preserving his ability to feel sensations and emotions. This ability also grants him complete immunity to mind-altering abilities.

Dr. Marceline Reid: Teleportation: since the second Reid twin came out of the womb she could teleport, or transfer matter (beings/objects, including themselves) or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. This can be achieved by various means, including causing the atoms/molecules to travel at light-speed, warping the space, or use quantum superposition, in which the she teleports by replacing and restocking energy in a spatial behavior. While teleportation may seem like it is simply for travel, it can be a valuable ability as it can be used offensively (and quite powerful, as a spatial attack) while offering superiority regarding movement speed and distance coverage. A skilled strategist/tactician can use it for many innovative manners.

Manifested as a special form of electrical/telekinetic manipulation, a special form of “morphing” which allows physical interaction with machines, or even a psychic ability that allows mental interface with computer data. She can control the flow of intricate machinery and can allow them to assemble or disengage their programming at will. Can operate most technology just by touching or looking. A variation on Electricity Manipulation, she controls specific electrons and instructs them which items to engage or disengage. Some times may even be able to use the electric impulses to gently control smaller metal parts.

Your sleep over thing got me thinking; Allura being distracted by Shiro's chest...Shiro can do the pecks thing (you know where they pump) Theyll be talking about a mission and Shiro is tense and he does it and She just stops mid sentence.

*snerk* Okay, this is too amusing not to do something with…

It took Coran’s voice to snap her out of it. “Princess? Are you alright?” She double-blinked and it took her a moment to re-orient herself. Bridge. Paladins.

“I’m sorry, what was I saying?”

“Mission parameters?” Hunk prompted her. “You were about to tell us something we absolutely Should Not Do and I would really like to hear that part.”

“Maybe include why we shouldn’t do it, so Psycho Pilot over here doesn’t get any bright ideas?” Lance added on, glaring at Keith.

“Oh, yes, I’m sorry.” She couldn’t even remember what had distracted her, just a sense of being mesmerized.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Coran was still fussing over her. “You’re not coming down with something, are you?”

“I’m fine, Coranny the Nanny. Stop fussing like a mother frugdorf.”

He bristled straight down to his mustache. “I am not a nanny!”

“Mission Parameters,” Shiro reminded her sternly. And, that was what got her to remember what had knocked her out of Mission Mode in the first place. Is that something all Earthlings can do? Is it a reflex or did he do it deliberately? Does it serve some sort of biological function? I don’t think I’ve ever seen him do that with his chest before.

This would require research. Another time. She cleared her throat and tried to shelve the mystery of Shiro’s rhythmic pectoral muscles somewhere in her mind where it wouldn’t be quite so distracting. “Yes, anyway, as I was saying…”

Pubes are soft and lovely. No stubble, no ingrown hair; and it has a biological function. Our society has decided that pubes and foreskin are dirty. Nope, just huge industries that profit from keeping those myths alive.

“It still is… a mystery, I mean.”

The doctor looked up at his companion, whose wretched state manifested in a 3-day old shirt and wasted blue eyes. He found the question curious, all the more so at the current situation, as they were sitting in the cold floor just outside the doors of the mortuary.

“What is?” he asked.

“How can a mere chemical mixture, or defect as I used to call it, cause an unexplainable chain of events that is tied to a completely different person? It’s premordial and primitive and nothing but unprecise. It is scientific, yet unscientific.” A pause. “And… and the hollowing feeling that comes with it is nothing more than a reaction of the brain – a biological function of the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex and the anterior insula, if we’re being technical – and yet it feels so… incomprehensible?”

The other man sighed, worried about the tone of impatience, and almost madness, from his friend’s voice.

“Sherlock…” he started, and the dark haired man turned to face him, “I… I know this is confusing and… devastating. But even if it’s hard, I… life goes on. Even when Mary… when Mary died and I was angry… frustrated… heartbroken… It will be difficult, and I know you know this, but… but…”

“But why?”

“Why, what?”

“Why… why her? Like Mary, she was strong and smart and… someone whom I value more than my own life…. I have never… I didn’t even get to say it…” there was so much anger and frustration in his voice. “I lov—”

A tear fell, and another, until the empty halls echoed with nothing more than the detective’s uncontrollable grief.

John closed his eyes in frustration, for he is well-acquianted with the raw and harsh realities of losing someone forever. He knows all too well that there is no way to comfort the grieving.

So instead, with everything he has seen between the miracle that is Sherlock Holmes and The Woman, he opted for the truth that he knows of.

“It’s never about words, Sherlock. I’m sure she knew.”
