When putting together any kind of job spell, I always include items/herbs for four intents:

  1. Wealth - actual physical currency I can use to pay bills and buy food.
  2. Prosperity - long term ‘doing well for myself’ beyond just ‘having money for food and bills’, but really having at least the potential to Go Places
  3. Luck - because heck knows I need luck in job interviews and to get people to look at my resume and application
  4. Happiness - oh god, I didn’t include this in the first job spells I did, and LEMME TELL YOU, I wound up with a job that paid decently and had lots of potential for promotion, and I ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT STAND my boss or my coworkers, the work itself was awful, and I cannot describe the absolute dread that filled me before going in to every shift.

[Protip: Aventurine has all four of these properties]

The Sugar Daddies That Are Worth Keeping and Why.

Recently I have been SO stressed out because I almost have too many POT’s and SD’s that I know what to do with. I had to start making some cuts and weigh out the pros and cons.

Be with an SD you’re EXCITED to see.

That may seem impossible depending on the appearance of your SD but I’m kind of a shallow snob and only pick guys I’m decently attracted to. But Mr. Limelight (pictured above…OMG he’s stunning.) is someone that I get SO excited to see even though he is the CHEAPEST out of all of them. $200 per meet. You know why? Not only is he stunning, but he’s so much fun to be around, he compliments me so genuinely, thinks I’m the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen…. I feel wanted and secured by this man. (I wish i was 10 years older so he’d find me appropriate to date exclusively lol)

Mr. Christian Loubitoun, who I haven’t made a post about yet, is a much older man who looks that way, texts me with the sweetest texts. He’ll send me pictures on his trips of things he bought, because he thought about me. We have wonderful, intellectual conversation and I know would never put me in danger.

DON’T make yourself suffer to be with someone because of the money.

I’ve been offered a shit ton of money, a place of my own (as long as he could stay when he visits) and so on. But I couldn’t stand him. I couldn’t stand his appearance, his overly sexual desire to just abuse me (theoretically)  because he had money. If I dreaded seeing him, why would I put myself to suffer more when spending an hour with him would make me want to throw up. There’s only so much bullshit Sugar Baby acting you can do before it shows on your face.  It’s not worth it, I promise. Remember, self worth doesn’t mean the money you obtain.

If he treats you like he’s paying you, leave. Don’t get disrespected.

YOU are a beautiful woman. Regardless of our title as a sugar baby, I still expected to be treated like such. All my SD’s love me because I treat them like a vanilla boyfriend. We’re basically a paid girlfriend without the drama. But you’re not going to text me at 2am at night horny as hell expecting me to get you off. (only) For example, I had a SUPER hot ex baseball player over me but ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS FUCK. He never took me out, he never texted me other than “I want you to come over.” NOPE. I don’t care how hot you are, I am not an escort or a call girl. (Although I love you ladies that are maybe I’ll hook you guys up hahaha)  There was a post, if I can find it I’ll link it but she talked about how her POT made her hold out her hand and dangle the money in front of her. Her response was priceless, she ultimately let this man that she had self respect and he was a dick.

Just because he pays you, doesn’t mean he controls you. EVER.

I let my POTs know and SD’s know my expectations. When I’m with you, we’re together. If not, baby, you go do your own thing. I’m not controlling (nor should ANY Sugar Baby be…post coming soon about that) and I expect him to be the same. It’s okay to tell him you’re independent but that doesn’t mean you’ll deprive him of all of his needs.

Get an SD or POT who understands how this works.

The GOOD Sugar daddies will compensate you for your time, even if it’s a first meet up. They understand how it works, they know getting intimate out in public, (unless you initiate it) is not okay. They know you have bills that need to be paid properly and respect you time and goals as long as it’s reciprocated.

- I hope this helps. I love you all xoxoxo

Accidentally Pro

The Setup

I was in college, recently married, and looking for a part-time job. Luckily, a friend of mine (let’s call her Kay) had just been hired as a secretary at “Weird & Associates”, and suggested I apply for a job there as well. Mr. Weird was looking for a tech - someone to test the various junk he bought at auction to later sell. I was hired right off the bat. Now, the entire company consisted of Mr. Weird, a sales guy, the new secretary Kay, and myself. Mr. Weird was excited about expanding his business, as he was (hypothetically) making bank selling computer junk.

For a while, everything was awesome; the work was interesting, Mr. Weird was easy enough to get along with, and I could work basically whenever I wanted as long as I wrote down my hours (useful, since I was also attending classes). After the first week, Mr. Weird paid Kay and I, by pulling out a wad of cash and peeling off a hundred dollar bill for each of us. Part time for a week worked out to basically that, so it was only slightly suspicious. That was, of course, the last money I saw. From him, anyway.

Things started going downhill after that. We moved to a bigger warehouse, but the sales guy quit. When she realized she wasn’t going to be paid “above board”, Kay quit too, under the guise of needing more time to study. I’m stubborn, though, and not only needed the money, but didn’t have a lot of other options for work. I learned that my boss had no idea what he was doing, and would over-promise what work he could actually do - or, rather, what work I could do, as I was the only person with any skills at all. He picked up a job for DeepPockets, a local business, and sold them some servers. Unluckily, DeepPockets decided to hold off paying Mr. Weird until the software he set up actually worked. Mr. Weird decided that if he wasn’t being paid enough, then I didn’t get paid at all, and gave me a speech about how his family was eating nothing but rice and beans, which sounded delicious, but was at odds with the fast food cup in his drink-holder. Finally, he decided to do some renovations on his warehouse, and had me digging ditches in the boiling heat. That was the final straw - I don’t do construction when my job title is computer tech.

The Revenge

Taking Mr. Weird to court for the money he owed me would be a waste of time. My “time card” was nothing but an index card with hours worked written on it in pencil, and apart from that and a handshake, nothing tied me to “Weird and Associates”. It was only $600 or so. Besides, there was a better way.

Over the course of a week, I cleared out all my personal items, and put in for a week of vacation. Just before I headed out of town for the weekend, I got a call from Mr. Weird, who begged me to look in on DeepPockets, since I was “basically their sysadmin”. Biting back my comments, I agreed. I was headed there anyway, though he didn’t know that. I asked the owner of DeepPockets if he wouldn’t mind cutting me a check for services rendered, as my boss hadn’t actually paid me in a month or so. It was a win/win deal; DeepPockets got to pay me directly at college student rates for the work, and I got paid more than I would have, which was enough to cover my unpaid hours. Now, that’s as far as I had planned it; if it ended there, it would be /r/regularrevenge at best. Mr. Weird was upset, but I was done working for him, I got paid, and DeepPockets cut their losses and ditched him.

While I had no more contact with Mr. Weird, his family was close with Kay’s family, and Kay was good friends with my wife, which meant I got to hear the beautiful epilogue, the cherry on top that pushed this into /r/ProRevenge.

Mr. Weird, without a tech or a sales guy, couldn’t make a single red cent, and thus his business folded (sadly, I missed the auction where he sold off all the computer junk). Without income, he lost his house and had to move in with his in-laws. Lucky for him, his father-in-law worked in construction, and got him a “real job”… digging ditches in the summer heat.

Bliss.

Cold Remarks

Pairing: Y/N and Harry

Prompt: Harry has always been cold towards Y/N, and one day she just breaks.

Word Count: 1581

Y/N wasn’t exactly sure why Harry was always so…cold towards her. She wasn’t sure how to describe it, he never called her anything rude, never swore at her, never yelled, but the tension always seemed to be in the room. He always seemed to hate being around her, in her eyes he hated her. She felt the negative vibes, he always rolled her eyes when she entered a room, he always ignored her, and if answered her it was with a harsh and cold tone. It made her want to shrink in her spot.

She didn’t understand. Harry was always so happy and warm around others, he was always so quick to help them, but when it came to Y/n she might as well have been invisible. It reached the point where she felt uncomfortable being in the same room as him. She felt weak and small compared to him and she didn’t like the idea of the two being alone.

It was the way he treated her, the small remarks her made every time. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could take it, she had never done anything to him. She took each blow extra hard, always having a crush on Harry and having him treat her like this made her want to lock herself in a room and cry. She couldn’t believe how mean he was.

Payments to your spirits and gods

Your spirits and gods demand your payment as soon as they have delivered on their side of any deal made.

They do not care if you have other things going on in your life, if you are late in offering their payment they will send not-so-gentle reminders that you owe them.

To give an example, I petitioned Bride for help in finding a new place to live. It was an urgent request as my boyfriend moved in with me and my tiny flat wasn’t big enough for us and our stuff. I promised Bride that she would get a special space set up for her in the kitchen of our new home.

We get a house straight away and move in a couple of days after signing the lease. Everyone knows moving home is stressful and keeps you busy. Unboxing years of stuff and books (oh so many books) takes time. So I did not set up her shrine space straight away. I said to myself I’d do that once I’ve settled in properly.

Bride saw things differently. Our gas boiler broke down about a week after moving in. It was November and it was freezing. The whole boiler system needed replaced and we went two weeks without central heating using shitty convector electric heaters which ran up our electricity bill.

I realised it looked like I hadn’t paid my due to Bride even though I had every intention of doing it. Action speaks louder however so I set up her shrine space once it clicked in my head. If I’d done this in the first place I’d have saved money on my electricity and wouldn’t have spent two weeks freezing my arse off during a Scottish winter.

Pay your dues asap folks. Spirits and gods don’t like to wait.

>>>My Favorite Fics<<<

In honor of Fanfic Writers Appreciation Day, this is a fic rec of my personal favorite fan fics in no particular order. Happy reading and thanks to all the writers!

Louis is an architecture student who can only think about the future. Harry is a baseball player who can only think about right now. Both are lonely for different reasons. Boybands bring them together.

A fashion AU with a royal twist, where Louis doesn’t need a stylist, Harry’s thrilled to have a real life Barbie doll, and they’re both very wrong about each other.

This is a story about love and the power of forgiveness, and how the hard choices we make define us, and change our lives.

The first time Louis Tomlinson kisses him, Nick is three sheets to the wind, wearing a pirate hat, and so fucking tired of Louis being a complete and utter knobhead that he’s spent the last ten minutes snapping at him. The kiss takes him rather by surprise, all things considered. Or: Nick and Louis don’t like each other, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Lt. Harry Styles, call sign Sparrow, is a prodigy when it comes to flying. The owner of an unrivaled Naval pedigree, being a pilot was always written in the stars for Harry. With his trusty RIO, Lt. Niall Horan, Harry has made an unprecedented ascension in the ranks of the Naval aerial combat elite, and has been recruited to the esteemed Premier Delta flight school, carrying on his family’s legacy. What he finds there are unexpected friendships, perilous challenges, and something beyond what he ever thought possible. Because as his father had always told him, before the great Captain Styles went tragically missing in combat, you don’t fall in love with the sky, you fall in love with what keeps you on the ground.

Your name was (Y/F/N), and you worked for the mafia.

Well, you didn’t work for the mafia in the traditional sense, you were merely someone they paid extra cash to go and drop letters or packages off at random locations. For who or what, you didn’t know. They never told you any information other than what you absolutely needed, and to be quite honest you wanted to keep it that way. You didn’t even want to do anything that was connected to illegal practices in the first place, but after accumulating quite a large sum of debt from going to college, you needed all the cash you could get.

You sighed to yourself as you cleaned up the counter of the local coffee shop that you worked at, preparing to close the store for the night. ‘If only this stupid job paid enough to cover the bills, then I wouldn’t have to work for the damn mafia in the first place…’ You thought to yourself, exhaling sharply at the irritation you felt.

Once you felt that the store was properly cleaned and relatively prepared for the start of the next day, you took off the apron you wore and grabbed your things and walked out, locking the front door behind you. The cool night air made you shiver a little bit as you began your lengthy walk back towards your apartment. Your footsteps echoed in the street, which was eerily empty, even if it was late at night. You reached your hand into your bag and grabbed your taser gun that you had bought shortly after you started working for the mafia. Even though you had what was basically the lowest position, you still felt that you needed some kind of protection just in case anyone ever came after you.

It was then that you heard what you thought to be faint footsteps treading softly behind you. Timidly, you looked over your shoulder to see a dark figure of what looked like a man some distance behind you. He was far enough to where you couldn’t guarantee that he was following you, but he was close enough to give you a reason for suspicion.

Your breath hitched a little as you sped up your pace, ‘It’s okay, it’s okay,’ You tried to calm yourself as you continued your route to your apartment, ‘He just happens to be going in the same direction as you, that’s all. At any rate, you’re almost at the apartment.’

When you heard the gentle footsteps speed up, you knew that you weren’t just being paranoid. This man was following you. Your heart was in your throat as you turned around, your stun gun raised toward the man threateningly, “S-Stop right there!” Your voice quavered as you tried to intimidate the mysterious man, “I-I’ve got a taser, and I’m not afraid to use it!”

The man paused for a moment, before continuing his approach toward you but more slowly, his hands raised up in a half-hearted surrender, “Hey hey, there’s no need for that now, I’m not here to hurt you.” Now that he was closer, you could clearly see his face. He was a fairly handsome man with brownish colored hair and dark eyes. His face was slightly longer than your average male, and he couldn’t have been all that much older than you yourself. The smile on his face just screamed for you to trust him, even though you knew good and damn well that was a stupid idea. He probably used that innocent smile for anyone he wanted to trick.

Your grip on your stun gun tightened as you replied curtly, “Who are you? What the hell do you want? Why are you following me?” You were happy that your voice seemed to have found its strength, but the way your legs were trembling reminded you just how scared you were right now.

He cautiously approached you, but almost with a sense of confidence as though he were sure that you weren’t going to pull the trigger, “My name…doesn’t quite matter. What does matter is the message I have to deliver to you. It’s from Min Yoongi.”

The name rung alarms in your brain. From what you had heard from the man who recruited you, that was the name of the leader of the entire organization. The idea of one of the biggest mafia leaders in town sending you a message directly seemed pretty far-fetched, which only made this guy even more suspicious.

“Cut the bullshit, why the hell would a mafia boss ever send me a personal message?” You scoffed at the man, narrowing your eyes, “Unless you have some sort of proof, I suggest you turn around and walk away.”

The man smirked, and if you weren’t so terrified you might have even thought the man looked handsome, “Your name is (Y/F/N), you work at that coffee shop just a few blocks up, and you started working under the Min Syndicate about eight months ago.”

Your blood ran cold. You figured the mafia would do their research on you, but it was terrifying to know that literally any random mafia member could recite your information as though it were their own phone number. Gulping, you said hesitantly, “Y-You could just be a good stalker for all I know…”

Rolling his eyes the man replied, “Well I don’t have much else to prove to you that I was sent here by Mr. Min. He wants you to appear at this address at exactly 6PM three days from now. And believe me, you don’t want to find out what happens if you show up late or stand him up.” He held out a small slip of paper for you to take, which after a moment of staring, you hesitantly took it from him.

He smiled brightly once you took the piece of paper, “Thanks, you made my job that much easier.” He began to walk away, but turned back to you to add, “Oh, yeah, don’t forget to dress nicely. Like, really nice, otherwise he’d probably have your head.” With that, the man walked back down the dimly lit street in the direction that you had just come from, leaving you standing there reeling in shock.

Blinking hard a few times, you unfolded the slip of paper the strange man had handed you. On it was a single address, as he said there would be. You didn’t know where the place was for sure, but given the street name, you knew that it was in the more upscale side of town. You looked back up only to see that the man had long disappeared, leaving you to slowly walk back to your apartment again.

‘What the fuck is going on,’ You thought to yourself as you approached the stairs to your apartment complex, ‘Why would the leader of the ENTIRE Min Syndicate want me to meet him? He’s not gonna kill me…is he?’ You shook your head to yourself, knowing that if the man had wanted you dead he could have very easily made that happened by now.

You entered your apartment, your head spinning with thoughts as to why Min Yoongi was requesting that you show up, and in full glam no less. Sighing, you dump your belongings on your couch and make your way to your bedroom, where you promptly plopped down on the bed. You were too exhausted after the appearance of the mafia and them summoning you to…some sort of gathering. Anxiousness began to settle over you as your tired eyes slowly drifted closed. Whatever this was about, you just wanted it to be over with quickly. You needed to get out of this mafia business as soon as possible.

Dear Sugar Daddy:

Please don’t buy me earrings. Please don’t buy me jewelry and necklaces that will only get lost or broken because I am ADHD as fuck and can’t handle it apparently.

Get me cash. Get me experiences. Help me better my life, get rid of my college, invest in my career and entrepreneurial ideas. Teach me about investing, and buy me my first stocks. Pay for my dinners, my shopping, my bills, and my rent. Pay for the gym, my trainer, and all the classes and courses that I want. Pay for all the makeup, services, and treatment I need to look my best.

But don’t buy me designer bobbles that are going to get damaged before I can resell them for less than you paid. No one is happy with that arrangement, and I’m so much about our mutual happiness, babe.

Got any tips for self confidence? My self esteem is low as hell

1. tbh you only have to live up to your own standards. today’s top standard is only being able to throw on a hoodie, jeans, and brushing unwashed hair to trudge to a class or an appointment? own it. it’s better than staying in bed in yesterday’s underwear– good job. rock it.

2. related to that, you don’t have to be beautiful. you don’t have to be pretty. you don’t owe the world an aesthetic performance of facial arrangement and clothes. being pretty is not the fee for existing. look in the mirror– what do you like about yourself that isn’t physical appearance? are you a good listener? do you make the best cup of coffee?

3. again related, you don’t owe anyone shit in the first place. they don’t own you. do your job best you can. go to your classes and participate to your capabilities. pay what bills have to be paid. be polite and respectful to those deserving of respect. the basics of what you actually need to do to function in this world. everything on top of that is croutons on a salad. makes it better, but it’s not necessary.

4. no, everyone isn’t staring at you. not even when you walk into a lecture and the door makes a loud creak. they’re not judging you– the human brain naturally looks up to notice signals such as a door opening. maybe they noticed you in your green hoodie because green is their fave colour. maybe you struggling to clean your glasses reminded them to book an eye test. could be anything. but chances are they’re not talking smack about you in their head.

5. learn to say no. say no to going to that party when you’re tired and having a couple drinks is only going to add to the stress headache. say no to agreeing to give a favour that will wear your schedule thin. learn to say no to the bullshit you know you tell yourself; you’re not going to immediately stop saying negative things to yourself, but you can at least tell that self hating part of your brain to shut up.

6. snip snip. cut out the toxic people in your life if you’re able. yeah, it sucks and it hurts and it’s frigging lonely, but a temporary sting from removing an old bandaid and cleaning it is better than a lingering infection. the wounds have to breathe so give yourself fresh air. you can cover the faded battle scars with watercolour tattoos that deserve a long term place.

why i went into guardians of the galaxy vol.2 apathetic & with low expectations and came out with my crops watered, my skin cleared, my bills paid for and the angels singing (or – why everyone should please watch this blessed movie – MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD IF U CARE ABT THAT):

i just rly need to make this post bc this film was just So Good it took over my whole bitter-at-marvel being in under a week k thanks love u byyye:

1) okay, first: the whole movie was character-centric and contained. you had REAL EMOTIONAL RESOLUTION. and you had that real emotional resolution because they BUILT THE PLOT around the characters, rather than establishing a plot and having the characters enter from stage left. for one of the first times ever, I watched an ensemble superhero film where every single character got a decent individual arc that somehow complimented the central arc of the film, also character centric, and it worked. nearly all the arcs felt satisfying, because they were all interrelated, because they whole thing was about family. someone said that it was like, a really good fast and furious film in space but with no casual sexism, and tbh like …. really tru boys. the stakes of the film were in the characters, not the End Of The World or in some MacGuffin device. yes, ego’s machinations would have caused death and destruction on a galactic scale, but that was secondary to the real conflict; peter’s understanding of who his real father was, and, ultimately, who he was, through his relationship with his family – the other guardians. the movie was frickin’ hilarious, action-packed, and entertaining the whole way through, and gave you a unique story structure that didn’t feel like a cookie-cutter rehash of so many other action/superhero films we’re given lately. and when the movie ended, you felt alive. you felt like you really had closure, and that everything came together well, but you were also sad, and yet had also simultaneously had a really!!! fun!! time!!!

just … i’ve seen so many sad attempts at ensemble movies in the past and while it’s obvious that writing an ensemble story is tricky, they really, really, truly, for the first time ever gave me the ensemble superhero film I have always wanted.

I was looking through my blog from years ago to reblog old text posts of mine because ya know, I love my dumbass jokes, but instead I saw post after post about how sad and lonely I was. I was having a hard time finding a job in my field and would spend nights sobbing wondering how I’d pay my rent. I was in a toxic relationship with a man I loved who didn’t love me back, but constantly gave me just enough to think he’d turn around one day. It was a very low point in my life and I remember that feeling of helplessness that was always threatening to crush me. I remember all the nights spent wondering why I wasn’t good enough to be hired, why I was hard to love.

It’s a few years later now, and I’m in bed next to a different man. He’s asleep and snoring a little bit. Sometimes if I brush my foot against his he jerks it away because he has impossibly ticklish feet, and even in sleep he feels it and hates it. Sometimes his hand will search beneath the covers and give my thigh a sleepy pat pat, because he’s glad I’m still beside him. And I know in the morning he will wake up hours before me as he always does and when I finally wake up he will greet me with an enthusiastic good morning kiss and maybe get back in bed to cuddle me briefly. This is the man who loves me. This is the man who proved to me that I am not hard to love, and that with him it comes effortlessly. In two years he has never hurt me once, and constantly reminds me how much he cares about me. My heart has felt nothing but full for him since the very first day I became aware of his feelings for me. We live in our own house together and have a little cat named Ellie that we spoil to death, who loves to sleep above his head. I also have a job in the field I studied and have been promoted twice, and I am being trained for a potential third. I live on a very modest income but the bills get paid. We have groceries and the things we need and every now and then I treat myself to something silly and I don’t feel bad about it.

The thing I’m trying to say is, I’m endlessly grateful for how much better things are. I needed to read these old posts of mine as a reminder of how hard I’ve worked to get to where I am and how lucky I am to have someone as sweet and nurturing as Kai as a partner. I know that some days you think the hopelessness will eat you alive but I promise that one day you’ll look up and realize your old demons no longer haunt you. You just have to keep moving forward.

Dear Sugar Daddies,

The less I have to pay for in my life the happier I shall be. The happier that I am, will equate to me being the life of the party when I am with you. My happiness will lead to your happiness.
It’s a beautiful circle, truly.

So please, stop being cheap.

Especially if you can afford to assist with my bills, AND spoil me. You need to understand the two are linked. I would rather have my bills paid first before my interests arises in that diamond bracelet. Because once my bills are paid, my stress is down, and I will happily take a smaller diamond bracelet.

If you’re in the chapter of life that can afford an expensive girlfriend, then don’t attempt it. Everyone ends up miserable, so live your life and let us live ours. We too have bills to pay, debts to demolish, and families to care for. Your time, as well as my time is tremendously valuable.

Remember to use your BIG head when entering the wonderful world of the sugar bowl. Not your dick.

-Sincerely,🎀

hey its me again asking for money help orz

basically i have 2 bills coming up (phone bill and car insurance) and im down to $15 and i need the $15 for gas (which isnt a lot, but traveling to work I’m gonna need more to fill up my tank for the next 2-3 weeks.)

And I start my month training to be a tech support for a call center job this coming monday (and i assume im getting paid while training) and i wont be getting paid until 2-3 weeks from now. and my bills come before that paycheck.

My first bill, which is my phone bill, is $48 (due 8/9). And I need this so i can keep in contact with employers and family, plus i have to use google maps/waze so i can get around

My second bill, which is my car insurance, is $62 (8/14), which is obviously need since if i get into an accident or pulled over, i have my insurance. Plus I have to change it someone soon so the price will go high since i live in a different area, but i’ll be waiting to do that after i get my paycheck

Then finally gas money, which I need about $50-$60, since gas so far been close to $3 around where i live now and i only need to fill up once to twice a week

So in total I need $170 to make both bill payments and have gas money

my paypal is stefaniekurth@live.com, and i have commission page if you like to commission me and get some rad art in the process. if ya can’t signal boosting and reblogging is also good

I’m also planning that when  i get paid and such, who ever donates to me will get their money back (unless commissioned because that’s a seperate thing)

Hello! A big fan on this blog! Was wondering if you could elaborate on how the US military tricks people particularly young people/teenagers into enlisting in the military with the promise of scholarships because I have heard how very often those scholarships never happen. I'm anti military and am not disagreeing or whatever, I would just appreciate examples or links so I can gain better understanding! I don't know if this is your area of expertise but I would appreciate it!

I don’t know if this is really common at other high schools but mine had a whole recruitment section by the cafeteria at our school where guys from military branches would try to recruit and give out information to students. Two of the big things they would basically advertise is that it would help with job experience and pay for college in the future. Both of these are considered lies by most because they’re very misleading statements.

Here’s some direct info from websites on the subject matter:

Money for college ($71,424 in the bank?). If you expect the military to pay for college, better read the fine print. Among recruits who sign up for the Montgomery GI Bill, 65 percent receive no money for college, and only 15 percent ever receive a college degree.

The maximum Montgomery GI Bill benefit is $37,224, and even this 37K is hard to get: To join, you must first put in a nonrefundable $1,200 deposit that has to be paid to the military during the first year of service. To receive the $37K, you must also be an active-duty member who has completed at least a three-year service agreement and is attending a four-year college full time.

Benefits are significantly lower if you are going to school part-time or attending a two-year college. If you receive a less than honorable discharge (as one in four do), leave the military early (as one in three do), or later decide not to go to college, the military will keep your deposit and give you nothing.

Note: The $71,424 advertised by the Army and $86,000 by the Navy includes benefits from the Army or Navy College Fund, respectively. Fewer than 10 percent of all recruits earn money from the Army College Fund, which is specifically designed to lure recruits into hard-to-fill position

Here’s another on it:

Your College Will Be Paid For!

Yes and no. The MGIB and Post-9/11 GI Bill both go a long way toward paying for college, true. But often what goes unsaid by the recruiter is that you will have to pay $100/mo for your first twelve months of service before qualifying for the Montgomery GI Bill. To qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, certain time in service standards need to be met.

The GI Bill has definitely come a long way, but if a recruiter tries to convince you that it’s “money in your pocket”, don’t buy it. There are pre-requisites, performance standards, and tremendous administration involved. The program is great, and an awesome selling point. But be aware that claiming the GI Bill is a process all its own. Fortunately, while you’re active duty, the Tuition Assistance program pays 100% of tuition fees, but more on that later.

I actually personally know somebody who was in the Army and he actually did qualify for all this and started college over the summer. However, he’s constantly talking about all the ways that it can still be taken away and the things he has to do to meet requirements. He has to attend full time, if he takes online classes he has to make sure he’s taking in-person ones too, and there’s like paperwork requirements - and those are just the ones I know/remember him bringing up.

Now as far as job training here’s what’s said about that:

THE MILITARY JOB TRAINING MYTH

Many people join the military expecting to receive job training. But remember, military training is designed for military jobs, not to help you get a civilian job later. Even in the technically-oriented Air Force, most jobs require particular military skills that won’t do you much good in the civilian world.

If you get the training you were promised for a particular military occupation, you still might not get any experience in the job because the military doesn’t have to use you in the field you requested. In the Army survey, 67.2% of enlisted people said they were “dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied” with their opportunity to select a job, training or duty station of their choice; 71.1% were “dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied” with their basic pay.

These are just two of the big ones, if you’d like to read the sources from these examples there are most listed. (source) (source) (source)
