Small book things that prove Shadow Moon is precious

-Shadow Moon cheated on a coin toss so he would purposefully lose and have to buy a hitchhiker dinner (instead of the hitchhiker buying Shadow dinner)

-Shadow Moon left a dead cockroach on a motel floor instead of getting rid of it “out of respect for the dead”

-Actual quote: ”He [Shadow] drove over a big muddy river and laughed out loud when he saw that the name of it, according to the sign, was Big Muddy River”

-Shadow Moon does coin tricks whenever he sees little children to try and entertain them. It’s always his first reaction if he catches a kid looking at him

-Shadow Moon smiles to himself quite often when he is alone

-When Shadow orders hot chocolate for himself he specifically asks for whipped cream on the top

-Shadow Moon felt proud of himself when he performed coin tricks for adults for the first time, as he always just practiced alone or in front of children

-When Shadow arrived at his apartment and saw that there was a cat outside of it, he immediately bent down to pet the cat

-Shadow Moon would go on walks alone and wave at the people (locals and tourists alike) he passed around town

-Shadow bought a bottle of Cabernet as a gift for someone because he had seen “life is a bottle of Cabernet” on a bumper sticker and it made him laugh

-Shadow Moon likes listening to the oldies radio station

I’ve made some pretty fantastic additions to my record collection over the past few days. It had been forever since I’d been record shopping, so it feels great to have so many fantastic new LPs

Julien Baker - Sprained Ankle
Julien Baker - Funeral Pyre // Distant Solar Systems
Solange - A Seat at the Table
The Big Moon - Love In The 4th Dimension
Mac Demarco - This Old Dog
Laura Marling - Semper Femina
Diet Cig - I Swear I’m Good At This

As you can see, my cat wanted to get involved with these photos

♃ Jupiter
  • Jupiter/sun: big heart & spirit or big ego
  • Jupiter/moon: infinite soul & charity or swelled indulgence
  • Jupiter/mercury: sincere childlike wisdom or stretched truths
  • Jupiter/venus: a love for life or affair with greed
  • Jupiter/mars: holy adventurous warrior or flagrant idle fool
  • Jupiter/saturn: realistic idealist or enlarged superego
  • Jupiter/uranus: integrated truth & faith or god complex
  • Jupiter/neptune: mystical experiences or grandiose fantasies
  • Jupiter/pluto: universal wisdom or grand power complex

You shoot a few things and make it to The Last City (the first of many laughably uncreative names) only to find that The Traveler (told you so!) – this big moon thing in the sky – is badly hurt, or possibly dead, or whatever. The game assumes, perhaps rightly, that you don’t really give a shit.

The point is, “The Light” (double told you so!) is losing its battle against “The Darkness” (okay, I literally can’t keep this up), and it needs your help. You zip around from planet to planet, doing what are probably things for, surely, reasons – turn on a computer, absorb some crystal stuff, shoot a guy with pokey bits on his head – until you eventually meet a female robot, whose allegiances and origins are tantalizingly mysterious. She hints at a brutal alternate future, a team of time-travelling roughnecks breaking all rules to make things right, and a grand mysterious plot churning throughout the universe. It’s almost too tantalizing, but don’t worry – she is abruptly dropped from the game and never mentioned again.

Yes, Destiny somehow achieves the remarkable feat of being both too convoluted, as well as so oversimplified that it feels like a parent explaining the basic concept of morality to a very stupid toddler. But if you’ve already gone through all of the game’s main story – plus hundreds more equally confounding game hours, then ditched the game itself to invest a few weeks sorting out scraps of lore on the terrible website – you’ll find some pretty solid sci-fi hidden in there. And what’s more, it accomplishes a very tough trick: Tying actual game mechanics into the story in a way that both makes sense in the moment, and contributes to the overall world afterward.
