bible quotation

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
—  1 Chronicles 16:8-11 NIV

1. BE someone who is intentional first - Pr. 3:3-4

For some, being a Christian means going to church, because that’s something that people in their family do, or people in their culture do. For some, being a Christian is liking scriptures on social media because they are nice little inspirational sayings. But when we really truly decide to live for God through our relationship with Jesus (John 3:16), our lives have greater meaning because we know that God loves us and we where we are headed (Phil. 3:14). THIS is the kind of person you want to be in a relationship with, but focus on BEING that person first. Be an example and you will attract that. Even when it comes down to texting or hanging out with guys for significant periods of time…ask yourself “why” before you do anything. Not because you’re policing yourself, but because you KNOW what you’re worth now! And don’t just do it to attract others, but because you know in your heart that you have a desire to strive for more by living for God.

2. Never settle for less - 1 Co. 10:31

If you’ve been talking to a guy for weeks or months and all he wants to do is “talk” or “be friends,” it might be a time to define what this “talking”/“friendship”/situationship is. Do you often find yourself anticipating his text or the next time you’re going to see him? Do you find him attractive? Have you talked with your friends about the possibility of being in a relationship with him? If you answered yes to any of these, you are likely developing feelings that are more than just friendship. It’s natural to feel this way about someone you care about, but if that person doesn’t care enough to tell you where they are leading your heart, it might be time to back away. It doesn’t mean he’s a mean person. Perhaps he truly just don’t know what he wants. But he doesn’t get to lead you on while trying to figure it out.

3. There ARE intentional men out there -1 Sam. 16:7

There are godly intentional men out there. But understand that what makes him that way is not his job, looks, status–it’s the man of God he is. So wait on that! It’s better that than to let someone toss your heart around!

DAY 122/365

My Dear Sister,

And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. - Colossians 1:18

We can’t win without Him.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the only one who makes it possible for us to truly live, because in Him, we know where we’re headed. We know where we’re going!*

So as you get ready to graduate, start a new college, start a new job, or simply start a new day, remember who is at the head. Remember the one who is REALLY making things possible!

Christ is the one who brings about the fullness that we need in this life. We can’t win without Him. He is the head, and it is through Him that we find that balance and stability we are looking for. It is Christ alone that will center us!

So remember this today when you find yourself:

1. Comparing your progress to others
2. Constantly thinking about that one guy who takes forever to text back
3. Worrying about your finances and how God could possibly provide when you have so little
4. Wishing you were somewhere else
5. Wishing you had someone to talk to about what you’re going through
6. Reminiscing about the past and the way things used to be
7. Getting stressed out thinking about everything you have to get done today
8. Completely not in the mood for work or other tasks
9. Unmotivated and discouraged
10. Looking for validation from other people

When you start to feel that way, don’t forget The One who has extended His arm to you to give you all of the love, security and comfort that you need today. It is not a sin to desire earthly things or earthly relationships, but don’t for a moment take your eyes off the Eternal Love that comes from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Talk to Him today. Don’t overlook overlook the opportunity to talk to Him about both your troubles AND your dreams. You don’t win without Him! You need Him! Remember the beautiful truth that He is looking out for you, but He also wants you to be looking to HIM!
