In the deepest battles and struggles of life, where is your trust found? Are you trusting in a “chariot” or a “horse” or are you trusting in the good, sovereign, and loving hand of the Lord to bring you through to the other side? Are you trusting in your own wisdom and experience to get you out, or are you trusting in the Lord to lead and guide you through it for your good and for His glory? Prepare your chariots and train your horses, but do not place your ultimate trust and hope in them to bring you victory. After all, “the horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord” (Proverbs 21:31). So as you go to school, study hard. As you to work, work well. As you read the word of God, be obedient. But in all this, remember that your strength to accomplish these things comes not from your own doing, but from Christ the Lord.
Bear with me as I fangirl for a little while. Today is 2nd May, an important day for Potterheads as it marks an anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts.
This quote may originally be from the Bible (1 Corinthians 15:26) but I know it as a quote from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as it is written on the headstones of James and Lily Potter. It’s one of my favourite parts of the book and as such I think today is the perfect day to letter it. I hope you’ll agree :)
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Corinthians 1:27 All the odds were stacked against Gideon and his people. The Midianites were oppressing them and they cried out to God. The Lord asked Gideon to deliver his people out the hands of Midian. But Gideon had such low self esteem. He replied, “But how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” But in the eyes of God, He was a mighty warrior. God used Gideon and his men, just 300 of them, to wipe out 32,000 strong men from the Midianite camp. 300 men alone couldn’t do it. But the Lord could. When the odds are not in your favour, don’t think that God has abandoned you. Your money, your success, and even people you thought were friends may disappear. Stand your ground and stay focused on the Lord. With everything else stripped away, you’ll be amazed at what your heavenly Father can achieve.
Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today…The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:13-14 What God is set to do in your life, the devil can’t stop it, he can’t stand it, and there’s nothing he can do about it. God Will Fight Your Fight. It’s Not Over Until You Win.
