beyond the words

People, I’m crying it’s all so beautiful. If any of you are able to visit Rosedale Center in Minnesota please please please go take a look ❤️ This is the kind of things we create at my work place~
These are all projects I worked on either as a graphic artist or welder (or both for the castle!) and I’m proud beyond words of what we managed to do!

As a graphic artist I worked on the castle’s design as well as the ice for the giant card.

As a welder I made the light up ball’s frame, the chandeliers above the castle and helped with the castle tower + arches c:

November Friendship Poetry #20

for the awesome @jabberwockypie

strength of heart and bold of spirit
with hands that yearn to help others
the warmth of a hearth fire in winter
the bright birds as the weather turns

mystery and fantasy - imaginations dream
with feet planted firmly on the ground
rooted in the deep seated beliefs held
thus, freedom to wander dreams is gained

like minds and that slow-burn friendship
blooming like flowers after the desert rains
quiet and enduring - beautiful in a way
beyond mere words to describe

How would a solar eclipse effect mythical creatures. Do werewolves transform or is it the only day they can reverse the curse. Do they feel the urge to howl. When real people gather, we cheer for the sun’s return. Do werewolves fit in for that moment, happy and singing and between wolf and human.

Vampires who can finally go outside in the day. They walk among families and cities and parties for those two minutes of totality and hunger not for blood - well, a little, maybe - but mostly for the life they’re missing, with children scrambling and people laughing.

Demons who take the second to ask God a question. A favor while the Earth is blind and we all look like angels.

The Jersey devil and mothman are partying at the boogie man’s house. The night in the day. I wonder what they’re doing. I hope they’re okay.

I freAKING HATE STANDARDIZED TESTING.

I work at Chickfila. Every Tuesday is “Kid’s Night,” and we do some sort of craft, like make trees out of pipe cleaners, or glue tissue paper to a person outline. Today, it was paint flowers with celery stalks. It was also the first night I was asked to lead it.

I adored watching the kids paint flowers and stems and the different designs they swirled into the background. But most of all, I liked talking to them. Little kids say the darndest things. Maddie, 11, said her favorite color was sea green and she wanted an accent wall in her bedroom because she saw it in a Lowe’s commercial for painter’s tape. Kennedy, 8, said she likes doing cannonballs because she sinks all the way to the bottom of the pool. Christopher didn’t say anything, but he did make all the flower stamps into smiling people.

I asked every single one what their name was, what their favorite color was, and what grade they were going into.

But you know what every single one of them going into third grade said when I asked if they were excited for school? Every single one?

“I used to be.”

I used to be.

They have only had three years of school, but now they aren’t excited.

“Why aren’t you excited now?”

They all stopped painting, brows furrowing, before they looked up and gave me a sheepish smile.

“I’m scared about the STAAR test.”

THIS IS WHAT STANDARDIZED TESTING DOES TO OUR CHILDREN. IT TERRIFIES THEM. IT SUCKS THE LIFE OUT OF SCHOOL. IT DISGUSTS ME.

EIGHT YEAR OLDS ARE SCARED ABOUT A TEST. SCARED. SCARED ENOUGH TO NOT BE AT ALL EXCITED ABOUT GOING INTO THE THIRD GRADE.

IF YOU DON’T THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM, GET TF OUT MY FACE.

I love you.
It’s the most honest thing I could say to you, yet it still feels like a lie. You see, I don’t just love you, I crave your touch. I seek your advice and wish for your laugh. I would go blind just to be your muse, and I would lose my mind if it meant I could watch you become the person you aspire to be. I love you, it’s true, but I believe it goes beyond that, beyond anything words could ever describe.
