“When convention and science offer us no answers, might we not finally turn to the fantastic as a plausibility?” “What I find fantastic is any notion that there are answers beyond the realm of science. The answers are there. You just have to know where to look.”
I’m really interested in learning more about the occult, witchcraft, and other such things associated with alternative religion and the supernatural. Spells, magick, runes, divination, anything and everything that exists beyond the realm of standard science and mainstream theology. Does anybody have any resources to point me towards?
Culture is always the big issue in the secondary world creation, but it’s a lot less considered in the creation of characters in a more general scope. When coming up with a character, it’s a good idea not only to think of them as a person, but who they are and how they fit into the culture they’re in. Beyond only the fantasy and science fiction realm, culture varies more than just region to region, but is also determined by popular activities and socioeconomic status. It is always a good idea to think about the parents of the character, their affect on the character, the character’s upbringing as well as the location of the character and all of the ways culture might come into play.
