beyond excellence

anonymous asked:

Why are the intelligent signs always either Aquarius or Pisces :/

intelligence comes in many forms, and for this reason everyone in some way is intelligent…whether it be musically, logically, mathematically, emotionally, linguistically, existentially, socially, interpersonally…there are so many ways one can be intelligent regardless of their sign

as for these two, they are ruled by higher octaves. This means they excel beyond the personal identity, or rather, there is a lesson to integrate oneself into higher states of consciousness (similarly, if you have your sun in the 11th or 12th) which I suppose can be referred to as transpersonal intelligence, or cosmic intelligence (transcendental self)

Happy New Year sweet shipsters!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and have sufficiently stuffed yourselves with sugar and alcohol! I know that I did, and even had some turkey thrown in because in the south, that bird is on the menu for all major holidays!

Speaking of birds and turkeys, it looks like we got some live versions with our dynamic duo as well. I am going to call out some names and thoughts in this post, so I am giving fair warning to those who feel that this would damage their sensibilities on such matters, but I am only going to do it once, and will blissfully move on to 2017 and the new year.

Let’s start with Cait, who has always been my favorite, only because I think it took guts for her to become an actress at her “advanced age” (by Hollywood and Troll standards), and has excelled beyond everyone’s expectations. The accolades continue to roll in, and I sincerely want her to win her GG category because she so DESERVES it!! As for her friend Mr. McGill…I might not understand what’s up there, but, I am going to give him some credit. He seems to value Cait’s desire for privacy, and appears to avoid the SM sites like the plague! And, while he might not be my pick for Cait, he does appear to quietly go about his life with no perceived expectations about what Cait can do for him. For that alone, I am beginning to admire the guy. I don’t see the chemistry, but at least he does not appear to deliberately create self absorbing innuendo, and we only see him when Cait shows him to us. I would love to know what goes on in that gorgeous brain of hers, but since she hasn’t called to consult me, then I just have to reach my own conclusions.

Now let’s look at the hot mess that is Sam and Ms. Mauzy. Where, oh where do I begin?!? This totally orchestrated and fecked up drama has all of the makings of a D-List soap opera, complete with that level of acting by all parties involved! Let me be clear….I do not follow, post, or comment on her SM sites but I am not a fan of this person because I see an opportunist in the worst way. She can post herself bare-assed naked riding every tree and bridge from here to Canada for all I care, but I don’t have to follow it. And, if this is the kind of person Sam wants to date, marry, or stand around in the street having an urban weenie roast with, then have at it big boy! Your life, your choice. And even Sam seems to be doing all he can to help sell this story, but he is just not selling it well. Grainy photos, selfies next to town signs, pictures of the back of your head in airport lines, and now coordinated pics in the latest city du juor does not a relationship make! And, no offense, but the guy looks like shit! Sorry to the Sam only lovers, but just my opinion. Where is the Sam who is loved by everyone and values his privacy? Has he changed? Has that Sam been beamed up by aliens? This one is not the Sam I became a fan of, and it is not because of bigbird. It is because it is NOT who he showed he was, and I hope to hell that Sam is still in there somewhere.

So where does that leave me where Sam and Cait are concerned??? Well for me, the same place we started in 2016. Should they be together??…. you bet your ass they should. Are they together??? is my most fervent wish. But, for some reason, they are doing their level best to convince us otherwise, and that is what keeps me on deck. If they are really with others, then there would be absolutely NO reason for the puppetry, innuendo, papped poses, or the interference from the wanker. And, as we have seen time and time again, it hits the fan when the breadcrumbs keep coming, and Sam and Cait have thrown them since Cait’s birthday.

So, I will not post on the canary again because I don’t follow celebritrash. Nor will I comment on Cait’s friend either, only because he hasn’t really asked for it like the other one.

But for Sam and Cait, it’s game on! They wanted this game, and I will play it with them. And no one will tell me who and how to fan. I plan to ride the ship til it sinks, or is visited by the Shiptini fairy.

Happy 2017 sweet shipmates, and all thrusters are on go!!😎🤗🛳🛳🛳

That felt like a little movie. What a rollercoaster… Surprise, sadness, laughs, thrills, and S U F F E R I N G

Bismuth is a very likeable and complex character, and the way this episode presented her was just masterful. She so swiftly felt like a cohesive part of the cast, and just as swiftly felt like a believable and sympathetic antagonist.

And beyond Bismuth’s excellence, we got some fascinating insights into Rose and the Rebellion, some kick-ass background music, and great moments with the other Gems. Not to mention stunning development for Steven.

This… was good. Really good. Really, really fucking good. As a whole, it might just be the single best episode of them all.

I rate episode 98, Bismuth, an 11/10. I think everyone expected this, and I hate to disappoint.

Well. I guess I’ll take a full hour to catch up on Discord, then spend a few hours chatting on Discord, then spending a few hours answering Asks, then crying myself to sleep.

Until next time. The end of Season 3 approaches swiftly.

When you are in love, everything is wonderful and meaningful. You are inspired and motivated to do things with love. You excel beyond your expectations. And you become the best person you can be.

Carmina: Shoemaking Excellence

Arguably one of the most renowned shoemakers in the world, Carmina was a mandatory visit during my recent trip to Madrid. Accompanied by my friend Álvaro, I got a chance to visit their flagship store which mind you, is the ultimate  haven for shoe aficionados. In the unlikely event you are unfamiliar with Carmina, the Spanish brand’s origins can be traced back to 1866, when Matias Pujadas established a workshop in Mallorca devoted to crafting tailor-made shoes. Passing on his legacy to the next generations, the know-how in shoemaking was refined throughout the years, evolving and adapting to market demands. In 1997, the third generation of the Pujadas family founded Carmina Shoemakers, set on producing some of the best shoes in the world. I think we can all agree that goal was achieved “cum laude”.

The outstandingly inviting environment is surpassed only by the welcoming staff and sheer variety and quality of the shoes on display. Besides presenting an impressive selection of models which is likely to include everything on your wishlist, the store also provides customers with shoe care services and goods, leather accessories and a wooden version of each available last. Never-ending displays sorted according to types of leather, construction and models surround a central area where a large marble table and winchester couches invite to sit and try your personal favourites… and trust me, that selection is one of the hardest you’ll ever have to make.

Materials range from superb cordovan and exotic leathers to beautiful calfskin and supple suede, in a variety of finishings and treatments, spread throughout their trademark interpretations of oxfords, monks, derbies, brogues, loafers, spectators, boots and wholecuts. The latter, depicted above in light brown suede, were definitely among my favourites and are already on the list for future purchases. Just a final note for the ladies, one of those displays is entirely devoted to you!

Rupert Grint did a dramatic reading of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You,” and it’s almost too charming

Rupert Grint introduced himself to the world as the iconic Ron Weasley in Harry Potter. But since then, he’s proved to have excellent range beyond the world of Hogwarts. His acting chops can make anything he touches feel like, well, magic.

So it’s no surprise that Rupert Grint dramatically reading the lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s song “Shape of You,” is making us feel all sorts of feelings.

The Yahoo! video has since become really popular amongst people who love hunky redheads for obvious reasons. Grint, who even jokes about getting mistaken for Sheeran, absolutely nails the lyrics. He stares intensely at the camera saying these familiar words in a totally new way.

And it’s giving us more shivers than an approaching Dementor.

Unlike the creepy Harry Potter characters, though, this video gives us a different kind of shiver. Though there are hints of a smile in his face, the actor takes his job of translating the lyrics to dialogue very seriously. And he makes us wish we were the lucky lady he is talking about.

Okay, sure, he giggles a little bit at points.

But he wouldn’t be Rupert Grint without a enjoyable laugh or two throughout the video. After all, he has world-renowned sense of humor.

Grint is no stranger to Ed Sheeran’s music. In fact, he starred in Sheeran’s “Lego House” music video. And, ICYMI, it is as wonderful as it sounds.

Plenty of celebs have dramatically read popular song lyrics before. But we have to admit that we have a special place in our hearts for both these performers. So anytime they decide to collaborate — even if they’re just joking around — we’re totally on board.

☩ Examination of Conscience ☩

based on the Seven Deadly Sins

Sins of omission may be more serious than sins of commission: “In what I have done, and in what I have failed to do” - Have I omitted to say my prayers? Have I omitted to look for and respond to the needs of family? “In thought, word, and deed” - Even if I did not gossip in word, did I judge someone in thought? Each area of my life should be considered: e.g. My family, my friends, my work, my prayer, those I work and live with, etc.

Pride (ST II-II q162) is the mother of all sin. It is a craving for excellence beyond what is reasonable. It makes a person hate being equal to others, and hate being less than God. ☧ Have I refused to admit my own weaknesses? ☧ Have I dwelt on the failings of others? ☧ Have I judged others, in my thoughts or words? ☧ Have I ranked myself better than others? ☧ Have I borne hated for another? ☧ Have I refused to learn from others? ☧ Have I been stubborn? Refused to admit I was wrong? ☧ Have I been arrogant? Have I held others in contempt? ☧ Pusillanimity is the opposite of pride. False-humility fails to use our gifts. ☧ Have I neglected to use the talents that God has given me? Vanity (ST II-II q132) is excessive concern about manifesting my glory before others. ☧ Have I been overly concerned about what others think of me? Have I allowed this to motivate my actions? ☧ Have I lied or exaggerated to make myself look good? ☧ Have I wasted undue time and money on clothes and appearance? ☧ Have I been content with my lowly position, or have I resented the role that Christ asks of me?

Lust (ST II-II q.153; CCC 2351) is disordered desire for sexual pleasure, isolated from its procreative and unitive purpose (CCC 2351). Custody of the Eyes: “Whoever looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Mt 5:28). ☧ Have I viewed other people as mere sexual objects rather than as persons to be loved? ☧ Pornography: On internet? or TV? ☧ Impure Thoughts: Have I entertained impure thoughts? ☧ Impure Acts: Alone, or with another?

Anger or Wrath (ST II-II q158) is undue desire for vengeance -undue in cause or in amount. ☧ Have I harbored resentment, grudges, and hatred in my thoughts? ☧ Have I nurtured imaginary angry conversations? ☧ Have I been slow to forgive? Have I lost my temper? ☧ Impatience: How have I carried my cross? Have I been impatient with people, family, events, sufferings, sicknesses?

Avarice or Covetousness (ST II-II q118) is the excessive love of possessing things. ☧ Have I been overly concerned about my own comfort and well-being? ☧ Have I been resentful of my lack of money? ☧ Have I been generous in giving? Have I given with a cheerful heart? ☧ Have I cheated, stolen, or failed to pay my bills on time? ☧ Have I used people for my own ends and advantage? ☧ Have I wasted money?

Envy (ST II-II q36) is sadness at the happiness of another. Jealousy is coveting what belongs to another. ☧ Have I envied or been jealous of the abilities, talents, ideas, good-looks, intelligence, clothes, possessions, money, friends, family, of another? ☧ Gossip: Have I judged others in my thoughts? ☧ Have I damaged the reputation of another person by my words, attitude, or looks? ☧ Have I repeated accusations that might not be true? Have I exaggerated? ☧ Have I failed to defend the reputation of others? ☧ Have I failed to keep secrets? ☧ Do I despise others of different race, class or culture?☧ Lies: Have I lied or exaggerated?

Apathy (ST II-II q35) is laziness, especially laziness in the things of God. Sloth is a sorrow in the face of spiritual good; it makes a person lethargic and want to do nothing. ☧ Have I sought God above all else, or have I put other priorities ahead of him? (e.g. friendships, ambition, comfort and ease) ☧ Have I got so caught up in the things of this world that I’ve forgotten God? ☧ Have I risked losing my faith or piety by bad company or reading? ☧ Have I trusted God, especially in times of difficulty? ☧ Have I attended Mass each and every Sunday? ☧ Have I neglected to say my daily prayers? ☧ Have I entertained distractions in prayer or in the Mass? ☧ Have I received Holy Communion while in a state of serious sin? ☧ Have I taken the Lord’s name in vain or used other foul language? ☧ My Neighbor: Have I been attentive to the needs of my neighbor, the needs of my family? ☧ Has my conversation been focused on my own pleasure, or on others? ☧ Has my humor been insensitive to others? ☧ My Family: Have I spent time with and shown concern for my family? Have I been forgiving and tolerant of them? Have I scandalized them by a bad or lazy example? ☧ Punctuality and Discipline: Have I sinned against my neighbor by being late, or against God and the congregation by being late for Mass? ☧ Have I wasted time needlessly? ☧ Have I planned good use of relaxation and recreation, knowing that I need to rest well?

Gluttony (ST II-II q148) is the inordinate desire for food. ☧ Have I eaten more than I need? To how serious an extent? ☧ Have I spent excessive money on food? ☧ Have I drunk alcohol excessively? ☧ Have driven after drinking? ☧ Have I eaten greedily and with little consideration for the presence and needs of those at table with me? ☧ Have I given money to help the hungry? ☧ Have I regularly practiced fasting and self-denial, especially on Fridays? ☧ Have I always fasted an hour before receiving Holy Communion at Mass?

“Dear Kit was an absolute delight to be around. An excellent host, beyond expectation.” With a broad smile, the woman nods in wordless thanks to the spritely girl. “I do hope I can exchange stories with her at some point, I’m certain I have a few of my own that might come close to the skeleton’s. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to focus on the girl enough to get a good read on her, I was dreadfully sloshed. Next time I’ll try to avoid the booze.”

Two Minute Papers - Deep Learning Program Learns to Paint

Short video from Károly Zsolnai-Fehér explains simply how neural network artistic style transfer works, including new improved research work on the subject:

Artificial neural networks were inspired by the human brain and simulate how neurons behave when they are shown a sensory input (e.g., images, sounds, etc). They are known to be excellent tools for image recognition, any many other problems beyond that - they also excel at weather predictions, breast cancer cell mitosis detection, brain image segmentation and toxicity prediction among many others. Deep learning means that we use an artificial neural network with multiple layers, making it even more powerful for more difficult tasks.

This time they have been shown to be apt at reproducing the artistic style of many famous painters, such as Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso among many others. All the user needs to do is provide an input photograph and a target image from which the artistic style will be learned.
