10 best moments of NYFW Spring/Summer 2015
1. Nonoo Punks Us All
Artist Dustin Yellin channeled your inner white girl by sipping on a Frappuccino while bouncing down the runway (in heels!) at the Nonoo presentation. The designer, Misha Nonoo, collaborated with the artist for the collection so Dustin decided to join in on the runway fun. I love that Nonoo can keep it real with a sense of humor during such a poised and serious month.
2. Nicki Minaj Teaches Models How to Dance
After the Alexander Wang show, Nicki grabbed some models and taught them le twerk. Debuting her latest song Anaconda at NYFW, Nicki Minaj recruited a handful of models to shake their things as backup dancers for Vogue’s vine.
3. The Lighting at The Row
Choosing the right place to showcase a collection might be as important as the collection itself. Seeing as the Olsen twins never fail to impress, the setting of the Spring/Summer 2015 show screamed aesthetics. When the ambiance matches the clothing, it’s pure perfection.
4. DKNY’s Show With Real NYC Women
With a color-bursting collection that featured an ode to New York City’s different neighborhoods and cultures, DKNY produced an impressively street-chic collection. The presentation featured models born and raised in the big apple. Not only were 30% of the models straight from the boroughs of NYC, but the models also walked outside casually on the sidewalk for the public to see.
5. Eva Chen Rocking Her Baby Bump
Tumblr’s own Eva Chen announced via her #evachenpose that a little one is on the way. I love that despite the aches pains of pregnancy Eva served some serious looks this NYFW. So jealous of that child. I want Eva’s hand-me-downs!
6. Jimmy Kimmel’s Lie Witness News
A must see every season. HAHAHA.
7. Anna Wintour’s Flip Phone
In a recent video Anna disclosed that she, in fact, uses a flip phone. Honestly, It’s a better excuse not to text people back. I bet you $10 she uses T9.
8. Coach’s Revamp
Coach has been rebranding its products for a modern and trendy client. I am happy to hear this news and I hope that the brand can move past its soccer-mom-outlet-mall clientele.
9. Rodarte Sisters Make A Splash
One word. Mermaids. The Mulleavy sisters always seem to find inspiration from the most magical of places. Although their clothing can be an acquired taste, there’s no denying their latest under the sea collection will dress many starlets on the red carpet.
10. Daphne Groeneveld’s Comeback
From the runways of Jason Wu, Vera Wang and Carolina Herera to closing Marc Jacobs and NYFW, this Dutch blond bombshell is here to stay. After a 2 season haitus, Daphne is back on a runway rampage.
