Can you give me some advices/tutorials on how to make gifs? I suck at it and hell, I've been trying to gif for two days and I still can't :(

Of course! Let me just say when you start off making gifs it can be very difficult and confusing (I know it was for me). So I’m going to try and give you lots of tips and things that I’ve learned so hopefully you can skip lots of the hard parts I had to learn on my own. Also don’t get discouraged if you feel like your gifs aren’t turning out amazing, you’ve just started and it’s taken me over the course of 3 years to start making ones I’m actually happy with, as always practice gives you experience! Anyways enough of my rambling lets get started.

How to add falling snow to a gif:

  • Some people requested this.
  • English is not my first language but I’ll do my best to explain the steps :)
  • I use Photoshop CS6.
  • Like/reblog the post if you find it useful.

1- It’s really simple and everyone can do it. First of all select a picture and a transparent gif. These are the gifs I use in my edits. Resize the image, add some coloring, texture etc.

2- Open you transparent gif another section, resize the gif as the first picture. Convert to video timeline and select the last frame.

3- Take your picture and put it to the top of the gif.

4- Select lighten or screen. I usually select the lighten one.

5- After you select screen or lighten, save your gif.

@altoanimator mentioned the idea of a toddler Chell running through Aperture a little while ago so why not.

How do you make your lines so straight?

i do the lines in one stroke (not always but i def try to). i mean sth like this:

the lines are best done fast, also using rotate tool in photoshop helps bcs i can get a better angle. i change the line weight by changing brush size or with lighter/heavier pen strokes depending on the brush and document size.

something to keep in mind: i almost NEVER get it right the first time i make a stroke, so ctrl+z/cmd+z is your friend here. also i erase parts of it bcs it often comes out too long, or i gotta erase a part to draw some other shape over it. i rly hope its clear enough!!

Season’s Greetings!

Meant to finish this yesterday, but of course it’s impossible for me to get anything done the day it’s due.

Anyway, I was in an animating mood, and since Bertl’s birthday was coming up, I decided to whip up a little something to celebrate! It’s a shame he had to die before his birthday, but at least he’s escaped the shitty story of this godforsaken manga

Happy New Year and Happy Bertday!

  • Lesbian Rite of Passage - basically one of the rituals that mark your transition from a baby dyke, to a former baby dyke.

I’m an FBD guys. Well ok not exactly, I’m actually pansexual so I guess that makes me a former baby pike? (cuz y'know, baby bisexuals are baby bikes)

Hello. I really love your creature and character designs! I was wondering when you scan the pages of your sketch book how do you edit them to make them look so crisp??

I do! Unfortunately my scanner is not the best so I use the levels feature in photoshop to mess with the light and contrast to make them look cleaner!
