Can you believe YOI is now the fourth best selling anime from 2000-present? The only shows that have beat it in sales are Bakemonogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Gundam Seed Destiny, all absolute juggernauts of the anime industry, the biggest of the big.

It just surpassed both Osamatsu-san and Love Live S2 (seriously). As far as pre-2000 series, the only show that surpasses it is Evangelion, which is the best selling anime of all time.

I don’t think it can be overstated how huge YOI is, and the idea that it’s ‘just fujoshi’ powering the sales (like some anime fans like to accuse) is beyond absurd. This series has found a huge audience of all kinds of fans, widespread in variety.

Congratulations to the people at MAPPA, Sayo Yamamoto, and Mitsurou Kubo. Sayo Yamamoto shopped this concept around to studios for years and was consistently turned down, until MAPPA, a studio that was founded on the idea of taking on more creative concepts that may be less obviously commercial, agreed to accept it. This is definitely a situation where those other studios must be kicking themselves right now!

MAPPA producer Manabu Otsuka has gone on about the free rein MAPPA allowed Yamamoto and Kubo, and how much he wanted the series (i.e. the relationship) to be ‘not up to interpretation’ even if it irritated some viewers. Also keep in mind that in anticipated fall anime polls among Japanese anime fans, YOI either didn’t rank at all, or ranked very low. It’s an original show that earned it’s massively popularity purely via word of mouth due to the quality of the series. That’s almost unheard of!

Have a Prompto that was inspired by @kingcael!

Cael is a very special bean in the my life, they shine bright like the sun and is such a sweet person to be around—JUST LIKE PROMPTO!!
Their face inspired me to create a Prompto based on them :D Show my king some love!

( Slowly uploading my twitter doodles, my lazy butt takes a while LOL )

everytime i see some weird Hamilton fandom headcanon stuff i think about the alternate universe where Lin-Manuel Miranda picked up a different best-selling historical biography to read on a plane and the exact same ‘style’ of fandom sprouted up but about Genghis Khan or Julius Caesar

Fancy dinner dates spent pocketing breadsticks and silverware. I give it twenty minutes tops before they either get kicked out or decide on skipping the tab.

My favourite Strange Superstitions and Beliefs

1. Ringing Bells - During the rein of Queen Elizabeth, it became popular to ring bells to ward away evil spirits, especially those at the foot of the bed as it was said to frighten them away. They were also rung during prayers to guide departed souls.

2. Curse of the Opal Stone - Some people believe opals are evil and unlucky. The superstition stemmed from the best selling novel ‘Anne of Geierstein’ by Sir Walter Scott in 1829 where Lady Hermione was falsely accused of being a demon as she dies shortly after a drop of holy water accidentally falls on her opal jewellery and changes its colour. This book had such an effect on the image of the Opal that shortly after its publication, the Opal market crashed and Opal prices dropped by 50%. Some say it is only bad luck to wear opals if you were not born in October.

3. Counting Crows - Apparently it was once thought that counting crows flying overhead could tell one’s fate. “One’s bad / Two’s luck / Three’s health / Four’s wealth / Five’s sickness / Six is death.”

4. Eye twitches - Though there is not much information about how this English superstition was idealised, it is said that in one of your eyes twitch, you are bewitched.

5. Gravestones -  If you align your gravesite (beforehand!) north-to-south you’re a witch.

6. Domovoi -   A common Russian superstition is that one must never shake hands, kiss, sleep or sit near a threshold such as a door. Thresholds are where brownie-like creatures known as domovoi dwell and kissing or shaking hands is regarded as an offensive invasion of their space.

7. Yellow - In Russia, superstition people believe yellow to be a sad and unlucky colour.

8. Candles - In a candle blows out by itself, especially during rituals, it is a sign that evil spirits are near.

9. Chills - If you get a sudden shiver or chill, it is a sign that someone is walking over your eventual grave.

10. Sparrows - are said to carry the souls of the dead and it is unlucky to kill one.

A Guide to Old-Gen Girl Groups

Time moves on and trends change and people change with them. While I can understand this fact, I refuse to accept it (for now) and I just can’t move on and completely forget about all these amazing groups that have either disbanded or have been inactive for a long time.

With that out of the way, I would like to introduce you to this guide I created, to help new K-pop fans who may be interested to check out a few of the older groups that were around for the 2007-2015 era of K-pop.

(Note: Some groups underwent line-up changes along the way of their careers, so I will be using the line-up that was more recently active to present each group)
