best person in the world award!

Two of my photos from tonight’s (December 7, 2016) red carpet at the Make-a-Wish Foundation 4th Annual Wishing Well Gala, honoring Robert Downey Jr. with the Shining Star Award for his many contributions as a wish-granting hero.  Thank you to Make-a-Wish of Greater Los Angeles for the carpet credentials and invitation to cover the gala - and permission to share photos on Tumblr.

“Over the years, Robert has granted dozens of wishes for children around the world, and has personally brought hope, strength and joy to Wish Kids and their families.  In addition, he has donated funds through his foundation, Random Act Funding,” providing resources to help make other children’s wishes come true,” reads the award citation. “One of today’s most popular actors, Robert is best known by Wish Kids for his role as Iron Man in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises, as well as his title role in the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Superheroes are of special importance to Wish Kids, as they provide escape from difficult medical treatments and embody the power that kids need to fight and stay strong.

“Among the many memorable wishes Robert has granted include: helping nine-year-old Domenic, who has cystic fibrosis, fulfill his wish to be a superhero; surprising seven-year-old Alex, who was born missing most of his right arm, by presenting him with a specially made replica of Iron Man’s famous arm; and welcoming 17-year-old Cameron, an enthusiastic Avengers fan, to spend the day with him during production on the set.”

Of course he did.

Congratulations, Robert!!!

fanon kon: would receive the supportive boyfriend of the year award but hes too humble and probably gives it to tim instead with a speech about how tim is the best boyfriend in the world and hes lucky to have him, with zero dirty jokes or quips during the entire thing. (whats a personality?)

canon kon: would be given the supportive boyfriend of the year award as a joke, but puts it in a trophy case. when tim complains about kons awful sense of humor and/or complains about kon telling him to take it easy, kon points to it and says “sorry babe i cant hear you over the sound of me being awesome”

Why I love Bastille

I would just like to express once again how much I appreciate Bastille as human beings and as a band. Their talent and hard work put into their music alongside their humble personalities just combine together perfectly to make a lovable band that not only myself adores, but the millions of other people around the world and I can not express my love for them enough. They deserve every award they are nominated for, and even if they don’t win it they are still considered to be the best band to me and that’s all that matters.

I’m not here to tell you what to do or boss you around. I’m here to help you. I’m here for guidance. For a shoulder to cry on on if you need it
—  roughly quoted from my father, I seriously don’t know what I would do without him 😭 he’s so wonderful and every parent should be like this ❤️

ENTP and INTJ. These two are…crazy. It’s not uncommon for them to hate each other on the first encounter, since they’ll likely end up fighting once they start talking, but over time the “magnetism” can be too strong to resist. They have a similar view of the world, both think that most people are stupid (I dare an NT reading this to disagree), and are very, very nerdy people. They very rarely get bored of the other, since the whole Ne-Ni, Ti-Te thing can be incredibly intriguing and refreshing (do you hear that personal bias coming through??) This is the pair that you see in the grocery store arguing over whether rice or corn would be the best staple food to have during the apocalypse, and the pair that, while watching an award-winning movie, is commenting to each other how ridiculously historically inaccurate the setting is (while annoying the people around them (*cough* SF types) too, of course)). They can be brutally honest with one another and share their thoughts on things openly, knowing their partner will listen and respond with a question or criticism. However, with no F in either one of their types, it may be hard for them to express their feelings or understand the feelings of the other. Because of this, the ENTP x INTJ pairing is best between these two if they’re both mature and have developed their feeling function, and/or have learned how to pick up on their partner’s subtle cues that mean the feelings are still there. All in all, it’s a great pairing, but work has to be done to make sure that their arguing doesn’t go too far, and that their feelings are expressed from time to time.

I’m so happy and proud for them.

When Yoongi was writing his letter, he wanted to win a daesang but he didn’t think it was possible. Now they have two… Album of the year and Artist of the year. These two awards has made Yoongi the happiest person in the world. This is a man who lives and breathes for music, he suffered a mental illness, he fought his way to get where he is now. Countless long nights at the studio make the musical we all love so very much. Yoongi is one of the most precious people in this world.

BTS are one of the best bands in the world. There isn’t anything they wouldn’t do for us. Junkook gives us extra songs that he’s recorded. Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook give us videos of the dances they’ve made up in their spare time. Seokjin gives us lives streams when he’s the happiest, when he’s eating, seeing Seokjin happy and eating makes all of us ARMYs happy. Taehyun gives us silly little videos that he makes that brighten all of our days. Namjoon is the most deserving leader in the world, without Namjoon we wouldn’t have these amazing boys who we have loved since the day we saw them.

ARMY are proud to have BTS…

Sunday, February 12, 2017 was the 59th Grammy Awards that aired on CBS. Some of you may have watched, got your tea from entertainment outlets or what have you. I am personally like WOW to it all.

However, this for my people…

Dear Black People, (this is coming straight from a round da way, college educated Black woman so let’s talk). Black folks (on twitter and prolly other social media platforms in the world) yall upset about Adele’s acceptance speech for her “Best Album” win. (See video above) Apparently, yall made that she said, “I know what this album meant for my Black friends.” Black folks big mad about this (well some) all over twitter, and other social media outlets. Let me talk to yall (like Black folks who love other Black folks bring you in to the side and talk to you when its good, bad or ugly.)

**Step over into this room away from the Black History Month party** WHAT THE FUCK YOU MAD AT? Lemonade IS for Black women, and that shit wasn’t no fucking secret. The levels that the album Lemonade gave us as Black women was so deeply rooted in our culture, and history, the shit needs to be played in lectures for Black men and women around the world and broken down into discussion topics. Beyoncé made that ENTIRE album for Black women, for us by us! So please explain why yall mad?

Adele did not say anything we as Black women did not already know, appreciated and show love to. I know we sensitive to white folks (and at times we have a right to be) Adele gave love, and recognized a real one. Lemonade did, and still does gives Black women something to fight for, to move to, to feel empowered by. So what Adele said “her Black friends” she was not looking for no damn street credit if that’s what yall was thinking, she married with kids and some more shit to worry about I am sure. How many white friends you got (I’ll wait) and high key be like “I got white friends” so you feel valued or more eclectic in certain space…Let’s be clear! Beyonce has told us endlessly she makes music for Black women, Black people, she puts on for the culture (my G she told us she having twins on the first day of Black History month, bruh she real strategic with this here).

We all know that the Grammy’s are not all for Black folks, Beyonce straight forward made a Black Woman entire record and you thought she was going to win Best Album of the year. Nah America ain’t that liberated, hell the entire world really ain’t yet. Y'all need to be inviting Adele to the next kickback/cookout and telling her to bring the kool-aid but lemonade flavored (cause you know she going to advance the shit and put fresh lemons in it.) and make sure you got some vegetarian options just in case for ole girl.

          B E Y O N C E   D I D   L E M O N A D E   F O  D A  C U L T U R E

Black people, I love yall on my momma this comes from my heart, nothing but love, but yall really mad just to be mad and it’s at the wrong shit. Okay, yes be mad Beyonce didn’t win best album of the year because Lemonade was straight fire! Be upset that the Grammy’s on they 59th year ain’t see that it was fire. But yall need not and should not drag Adele (my G yall rock to Adele I know yall do) ON TOP of all the slander, it was ADELE’S MOMENT and she gave Beyonce like major love, not once but twice. Black folks yall now yall won’t let your own blood cut you in the line to get food. So for the sake of the people, and stop getting on social media acting fucking crazy cause yall mad at the wrong shit.

Now let’s get back into this Black History month celebration.

**Grab the Hennessy and bring some dominos**

I’m so mad about mama and I’m seriously not trying to bring bad vibes on here but I really am right now. Mama is less then 2 weeks away and I heard nothing about Block B going. Block B had their best year this year of their whole career and showed the world that they are good group but that’s not good enough for this award show? What they didn’t agree to do the red carpet again? Told them they want their own stage and mama told them no?

And the last thing I want to hear/read is someone that knows nothing about being a BBC trying to have a opinion on how we should act. I’m up to last straw with that shit. Be one of us in full. Make them your ult group please do. Now wait I’ll say a few weeks? Yeah a few weeks for a scandal to roll through or for someone to get bored and come in and start hating for no reason. BBCs are keeping to themselves but someone always wants to poke us because they know we will try to ignore and keep calm. Now live through that and tell us how you feel. Now wait a bit more and live through another scandal again. I mean Zico’s sheer existence will bring shit talkers even if he hasn’t done a thing and is in the right. Okay now you know what a scandal feels like? Fight for your group’s placement in the industry as your fandom is getting smaller and smaller. Even in Korea. Block B has thanked the bees that have always came back to see them at their fansignings. That they even said that their fandom got tiny too and hope to get some of the fans back. Now you’re seating here like okay the Zico issue is now over, I’ve lost sleep trying to actively support Block B and making up for the dwindling fans but honestly get no where. You’re tired right? You want to relax enjoy some shows with Block B right? Hmmmm you see OT7 Block B hasn’t had one in over 2 years. They only use the V App to try to sell us Block B’s promotions. They don’t come on to say hi and spend time with us they are put there to make sure we are watching the MVs, going to see them at fansignings/music shows, and buying the albums. They gloss it over with the members doing something cute like cooking or some shit. “Well come on Shayla at least you get to see them stop complaining”. Yeah I do get something and I also get to watch them read off a script if it’s either in their hands or on cards and the PDnim and telling them they have to do this or that. The one time Jaehyo actually wanted to spend time with us they canceled it so fast it wasn’t funny.

You do nothing but your group still gets bashed on every few weeks. Having to try twice as hard to get your group anywhere both with Korean and international BBCs. Only getting to see your group now when it time to make money.
So please be one of us and understand us before you have the right to judge us. Be one of us without having another group to run to when times get hard and you get bored.

I’m shocked, not in a good way. People of color have always been here. Women have always been here. And for a genre that supposedly prides itself on, to quote Gene Roddenberry, infinite diversity in infinite combinations, and being more progressive than the rest of the world, though there are some that don’t think we should be, for a genre that prides itself on that to have never given the best-novel award to another black person, that’s just bizarre. It’s also indicative of a general tendency in literature. We tell ourselves we’re more progressive, we’re more futurist, we’re more forward thinking, and that’s just not true. If we don’t make the same effort at antiracist and anti-oppressive thought, we’re not going to be any better about it than anybody else, and I’m glad that this is changing.
—  N.K. Jemisin upon hearing that she is the first woman of colour and the first African-American writer to win the Hugo award for best novel.

Palestinian teacher wins global prize worth $1m

The Duke of Cambridge has paid tribute to the “incredible work” of the teaching profession as a Nobel-style award worth $1m was handed to a teacher from Palestine. Hanan al-Hroub, who works with children who have grown up exposed to violence, was given the second annual Global Teacher prize at a star-studded ceremony in Dubai.

In his video link, Prince William said he had been taught by “some of the best teachers in the world”.

“I know what an incredible teacher can mean to a child,” he said. “A good teacher holds the power to influence, inspire and shape a young person’s life for the better. They represent the key to real change in this world.”

The prince added: “Teachers are also uniquely placed to recognise and support the most vulnerable and troubled children in our society, reaching young people early on in their education and providing them with the extra support they need and giving them the best possible chance in life. This is an incredible responsibility.”

‘’ I prefer to win titles with the team ahead of individual awards or scoring more goals than anyone else. I’m more worried about being a good person than being the best football player in the world. When all this is over, what are you left with? When I retire, I hope I am remembered for being a decent guy. I have fun like a child in the street. When the day comes when I’m not enjoying it, I will leave football.’’

Happy 28th birthday Lionel Andres Messi.
