Woolie weighs in on the “urban authenticity” of Luke Cage in this episode of Super Best Friends Play Animated.

Consider: Ray is short, and if there’s nowhere to set up a sniper nest, he has 0 height advantage. So sometimes, when he has to be on the ground team, he’ll get someone to agree to let him ride on their shoulders, so it’s just a guy in a skull mask with a purple-hoodied gremlin perched up there, or the leader of the most terrifying crew in Los Santos carrying around some kid with a pink gun. And it’s even worse because it actually works, like Ray clearly gets more people like this than on his own two feet. He likes to be tall.

HARRY SHUM JR. IS PERFECT OKAY. He looks super young but I’ve seen him in not only Glee, but in Step Up movies as well, and he can act!! But more importantly, he comes from a THEATRICAL background! We’re going to have our flamboyant Magnus!!! He’s going to have ENERGY! He’s going to know how to do MOVEMENT ACTING. He’ll be able to do Magnus’s language through way more than just the script and he won’t feel awkward at ALL about it!

Not to mention Dancer!Magnus headcannons and fanfictions galore.

And he’s tall and lanky

I already loved Harry Shum Jr. okay.

8, BOSJ XXIII Final: Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Will Ospreay ****½

Finally got round to watching this show on a Shinkansen journey. This was another great show and I know I sound like a broken record, but this really has been one of the best BOSJs ever. In notable happenings from a hot Sendai Sun Plaza Hall:

Jay White once again pinned David Finlay in their usual really good opening match. Kyle O'Reilly scored the win for his team in an entertaining six man which also featured the usual good exchanges between human bulls Ishii and Tenzan. It seems that O'Reilly intends to move up to heavyweight at some point in the future, which sets up many really great possibilities. Ricochet pinned Volador Jr with a 630 to win another very good multi man. In the post match, reDRagon issued a challenge to the IWGP Jr tag champions, then Roppongi Vice turned up demanding a rematch for the straps at Dominion. The Young Bucks have also been added to this so it’s a rematch from WK10.

Michael Elgin finally pinned I. C. Champ Kenny Omega after powerbombing him through a ladder in an all-action tag match. With the win, Elgin’s challenge against Omega in a ladder match in Osaka-Jo Hall was made official. I honestly don’t see him winning the belt mind you. CHAOS and Los Ingobernables de Japon had another great, bordering on excellent multi man to add to their stellar series. SANADA submitted Gedo to get the win for his team. For some time now, New Japan shows like this have these sort of 6 and 8 and even 10 man tags with varying degrees of quality and guys “phoning it in”. However this feud has really reinvigorated these shows and some are well worth going out of your way to watch.

And in the BOSJ XXIII Final, Will Ospreay collided with a resurgent Ryusuke Taguchi in an excellent, dramatic bout that was another MOTYC for Ospreay. This one told a great story and fantastic work from both men, in particular Taguchi, who probably put in the best performance of his career here. This was likely the best singles match he’s ever had (I still think the ****¾ Apollo 55 vs. Ibushi/Omega match from Destruction 2010 is the best match he’s ever been in) and he’s looked great throughout the whole tournament. Long thought of as a mid card comedy geek, Taguchi proved here that ge can go with the best of them.

Ospreay scored the win after hitting an imploding 450 and his Springboard Ace Crusher finish to win one of the best matches of this tourney, becoming the first British wrestler ever to do so. What more can be said about the Aerial Assassin at this point? Barely 23 years old, he’s already one of the best out there and is surely one of the future superstars to come. With the win Ospreay took not only the BOSJ trophy, but becomes KUSHIDA’s challenger for the Jr title at Dominion, which should be another phenomenal match.
