Let’s start it off with the one and only, the canon pairing of a sad sk8er boi and his tiny baker: Jack Zimmerman/Eric “Bitty” Bittle!

Ice Crew Please!

THE FIC THAT CHANGED E V E R Y T H I N G u don’t even KNOW oh my god

u read this and u r like: “ice crew au…?? wut” but U GUYS. READ IT.

I AM. BEGGING U. its so fucking funny but also so fucking meaningful and abt CREATING A Fa mILY !!!! and LoVe!!!! and frieNDShIP!!!

p.s i don’t want to spoil it but if u read it message me and ill talk to u abt the part that made me cry like actual tears bc thank god for friendships and acknowledging that shit is hard

the messes of men

this was… in it’s own way.. a hard fic to read (which makes it the best fic to read! pain! i love it! help me!) it’s very very very beautifully written and i hold it very close to my heart….how it portrays jack by himself and how hard it must’ve been…it also manages to weave in how mental illness plays its own role, even once you get together with the person you’re pretty sure is it for you. somewhat painful but cathartic and achingly tender.

until it got the best of you

umm bitty has a big dick. that’s it.

BUT then there’s feelings! and angst! and misunderstanding! (the best type too! u know when one is like so crazily in love with the other and thinks its shockingly obvious but surprise, it’s not!) it’s just fantastic!

i never saw the signs

imagine a world where jack jumping over the snowbank, bringing bitty coffee, going on long walks classifies (in jack’s mind) as dating. so when bitty gets asked out, jack cannot believe the b e t r ay a l! we’re dating bitty! just read this and be happy :)

left the city, my family, my precinct

oh my goodness this fic.

eric is a tad too southern for me but it’s the only thing this fic doesn’t do perfectly :))))

something like this

considering how popular this fic is it actually sat open in a tab for a looong loooooong time just bc…well… it’s 285,748 words. im an all or nothing girl as in i once read the entire maze runner trilogy in one night so i had to find the right time

first of all: angst. second of all: angst. third of all: ….. u guessed it… angst. BUT don’t worry, for every drop of angst there’s a metro-fucking-ton of smut and sweetness :)))) ;))) what this fic does brilliantly is create an OMC that is at the forefront of the story and do it seamlessly. this is a pretty iconic fic and tbh im definitely not one for fics longer than 100k but this was a fuckin’ beaut man

rake the springtime across your sheets

oh god this was P A I N F U L but in a very beautiful way??? (that’s how u know the writing was siCK) ambiguously happy ending but tbh in the end this fic is really just abt the unspoken quiet truth of being in love, of loving, of being human just lke Fffffffuck me up

Phone, Please!

listen. i’m not a fluff person. idk i get bored. BUT. BUUUUUT. BUT. this fic.

AMAZING. this fic is all about the details and the little moments that make Bitty and Jack  ~*BittyandJack*~

Bonus favorite line: “Thank god there are pancakes to serve. Pancakes are also very nice, and something he can actually have.”

Winter Clothes

Chowder POV so this is both hiLARIOUS and surprisingly touching. Jack and Bitty help Chowder buy clothes for New England winter. As a person living in New England, I approve this message.

WIPS: *Hate That I Love You plays in the background*

but also not established relationship more like fwb but u know and i know and ngozi knows that ain’t the game we’re playing here

not usually a big fan of soulmate aus but what i love about this fic is the pacing and even tho soulmate aus where seeing your soulmate = seeing color for the first time isn’t totally new this felt super fresh and original!

shine for you

aw MAN this gave me the feeeeeels. established relationship but jack is not out, it’s a bit angsty but the jack perspective is just so gooood

EXTRA: It all started with a big Russian hockey player calling a small cat-loving hockey player a rat. You either h8 it or u luv it. In my case, I Love it, capital L, so enjoy: Alexei “Tater” Mashkov/Kent Parson

careful the tale you tell

Kent has been telling himself a story, ever since the Q. It’s the epic story of Parse and Zimms, and he’s in love with it. // this fic is specifically meant for patater newbies and this fic does an amazing job of showing why kent and alexei just make sense. its honestly a Blessing.

kick on the starter

lmao im gonna be 90 years old and still reccing Febricant’s fics…for real when i saw they wrote patater i was like…no..im dreaMing…or im dead? is . is heaven?? rlly unique approach to how she gets them together and gr8 build up :)))) Bless Febricant

i need to wake up, i need me some love…

honestly? shameless fluff. established relationship (they’re ENGAGED FOR GOD’S SAKE) short but Good

Hit Korean boy band BTS is ready to take over Anaheim

Rap Monster, one of the seven guys in the South Korean boy band BTS, says it was only at the end of 2016 that he and the others realized how huge their band had become around the world.

“Somebody in the company sent me a message: ‘You got No. 26 on Billboard OMG congratulations,’” says Mr. Monster, the 22-year-old rapper born Kim Nam-joon, by phone from Chicago where BTS was set to play on Thursday before hitting Honda Center for a pair of sold-out shows on Saturday and Sunday.

“At first I thought, 'Ha ha, your humor isn’t really very good,’” says Rap Monster, the leader of the group and its primary songwriter. “We didn’t believe it.”

But as more messages started to ping onto their phones he says the BTS boys realized it was no joke: Their sophomore album, “Wings,” entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 26 after its October release, making it the highest chart position for any K-pop act – not to mention one that sings primarily in Korean – and offering a bit of foreshadowing for Billboard naming the record the best K-pop album of the year.

Since then things have only gotten sunnier for Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. In February, “Wings” was re-released in a new edition as “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and the combined editions have since sold nearly 1.5 million copies worldwide. Music videos for “Spring Day” and “Not Today” were released a week apart last month as well and exploded on YouTube where they’ve currently racked up 59.2 million and 60.1 million views respectively.

“When we heard that and really got that, I was saying, 'OK, this is going to be a whole other world,’” Rap Monster says of the significance of the Billboard chart success and all that followed. “And I feel like we should do something more, and dream something more.”

This past week they’ve taken a step toward something more, playing their first headlining and sold-out arena dates in the United States, after previously having mostly played on multi-artist billings at KCON conventions held here.

“So many people just to see BTS was really an honor,” Rap Monster says of the opening pair of shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. “It feels dreamy these days.”

Not, mind you, that it’s been anything like an overnight success or an easy road for him and the other BTS members.

He grew up a top student in his school who loved American rappers such as Eminem and Nas, performing even as he attended high school and eventually catching the attention of BTS future manager Bang Si-hyuk at BigHit Entertainment in South Korea. And though he says he gave up on music when he was 16, lacking confidence in where he was headed, he says Bang encouraged him to stay strong, believe in himself, and sign on as the first to join BTS, even though at the time he wasn’t sure who or what it would end up incorporating.

“I was not aware of the other members,” Rap Monster says. “But I like the company and I respect them. And he promised to me, 'I will make you do your music and get big someday, so please believe me.’

"So I believed him.”

The other six members soon were selected, each of them bringing different talents on the mic or on stage. Songs were developed by Rap Monster and the other members, with a team of producers working to craft the best music from the raw material, the melodies and beats, that they created.

“Our chemistry is different from other groups,” Rap Monster says. “Everyone has their own points and characteristics. If I’m a bad dancer, a good dancer teaches me. If I’m a good songwriter, I help the others with a good melody.”

We ask the obvious question: Are you a bad dancer?

He laughs and answers: “Yes, I’m a bad dancer.”

Their music is different from a lot of K-pop acts that have made ripples on the American airwaves. They’re not popular because of the novelty aspect of their songs – think “Gangnam Style” by Psy from a few years back. And they’re not quite as bubblegum as a group such as Girls Generation or as eclectic as the synthpop of f(x), the first Korean band to play the South By Southwest festival.

Instead, BTS often aims for that sweet spot where R&B and rap get together, the kind of stuff Justin Bieber might be doing if he sang in Korean and there were six Bieber variations with fashionable hair and eclectic yet unified fashion choices.

“BTS music sounds like it’s from America,” Rap Monster says. “We decide to always watch the trends and watch what’s going on over the world. America’s the No. 1 market in the world so that’s why people in America prefer us.”

As for communicating through the language divide, Rap Monster says that’s partly handled by the group’s wildly enthusiastic social media following: “Fans translate our lyrics and interviews,” he says of a following that has landed them at the top of Billboard’s Social 50 list for a total of 17 weeks since “Wings” dropped in October. “They’re able to say, 'OK, BTS is talking about us and our lives.’”

And it’s partly addressed through lyrical subjects that express the common hopes and dreams and fears and worries of any teenager or young adult in any country.

“Our lyrics are mostly Korean but we always talk about the young people’s lives and their minds,” Rap Monster says. “There’s something similar between every young person in the world, in America or in Korea. We share something together even if we use different languages or live so far.”

American fans are also the savviest music lovers in the world, Rap Monster says, which made heading out on this brief headlining tour a little bit intimidating at first.

“We actually were scared of performing in America as a solo act,” he says. “Their playlists are the best in the world. I was really nervous for them.

"But after we were on stage our fear disappeared. They’re like everybody, they’re like friends. Singing along all of the lyrics even through the raps. They know how to play, the rhythms and the dances.”

An aside here to share our favorite piece of Rap Monster trivia. You might be wondering whether he spoke through a translator. He did not. His excellent English skills were polished in the classroom but also at home through what he refers to as “a Korean mothers syndrome.”

“'Friends’ was really famous for the mothers in Korea for English education,” Rap Monster says of the hit American sitcom from the '90s. “It was kind of like a syndrome. Korean mothers make their kids watch 'Friends’ even when they were eating food or playing.

"I think it really helped. It has like 10 seasons, I think, and I watched it like more than five times through the 10 seasons. They use the gestures and expressions, like, Americans use, right? I think that naturally teaches me how to speak or how to make a gesture when you try to express some emotions.

"Thank you, 'Friends,’” he says, laughing. “God bless 'Friends’!”

Rap Monster recently collaborated with the American rapper Wale on the song “Change,” which like some of BTS’ other songs – and unlike most K-pop – touches on politics and societal issues. He says he’d loved Wale’s music for a few years when the opportunity to do the song came along last year “like a miracle, like a dream come true.

"The song has already come out and we shot a music video together, but still sometimes I lie in my bed and think, 'Did I really do something with him?’” Rap Monster says.

He knows that boy groups from Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync to the Jonas Brothers and One Direction tend to have a finite lifespan before members get restless to move on solo projects, acting gigs and other opportunities. But he thinks the variety of interests and musical genres that individual BTS members have can be handled on the side or even within the group, and BTS itself can carry on.

So while Rap Monster says he’d love to collaborate with Drake or Miguel one day, Suga feels the same way about Kanye West and Flume. Jungkook seems more inclined toward pop R&B – his dream musical partners would include Bieber or Charlie Puth. V is a little bit old school, having mentioned Norah Jones and the Fugees as on his wish list. Rap Monster ticks off the rest of the band: Jimin digs Chris Brown, J-Hope is into the similarly initialed J. Cole, and Jin is a fan of old-school showman Bruno Mars.

“I always tell them that every time we have hits under the name of BTS we shine the best when we are a team,” Rap Monster says. “I know all the seven members, they love music, and I know their No. 1 wish is for us to perform and make music and sing and dance.

"Maybe someday someone will want to be on a television show or be an actor,” he says. “I just hope they know all of the popularity and fame and money is from the name of our team. That’s not one person, everybody contributes to the team.

"Nobody knows the future. I just hope it can last as long as possible.”

BTS Explain Concepts Behind 'Love Yourself: Her' Album: 'This Is the Beginning of Our Chapter Two'

From the meaning of “Go Go” to why the band needed to flex their win at BBMAs, BTS’ Rap Monster explains it all.

Mere hours before the release of BTS’ Love Yourself: Her, the album’s significance wasn’t lost on the group’s leader, Rap Monster.“It’s really a huge, big step for us,” the 23-year-old rapper/songwriter/producer told Billboard during a phone call from Seoul. “Of course, every member is so excited about the album. We’ve been just practicing until now, day and night, to show these new songs and perfected performances. I left a message on our fan cafe, the other day, after we finished that ‘this EP will mark the turning point of BTS’ and even though the wait felt really long with this album – I think it was the huge event, the BBMAs, were in May – so much has happened."The wait has been particularly anticipated for for the band’s famously passionate fan base, known as Army, who have been waiting for new tracks from Rap Monster, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, V and Jungkook band after voting them Top Social Artist at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards over fellow pop juggernauts Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes.

How BTS’ BBMA Win Proves K-Pop Can Compete & Thrive on a Global Scale

Since then, the BTS guys have landed distribution deals with Amazon and U.S.-based The Orchard ("We believe the physical album, still, really counts and it’s really important to connect with our fans around the world,” Rap Monster said) and hung out with worldwide chart-toppers like Major Lazer, Halsey, Charli XCX(“Maybe it’s just my sixth sense, but I think maybe we will be collaborating with even more interesting artists,” he added); even snagging The Chainsmokers to produce a beat for Love Yourself: Her.One listen to the tightly produced record – which looks likely to make a big splash on the Billboard 200 next week – and the passion is palpable from the intense lead single “DNA,” the societal commentary in “Go Go,” among multiple lyrics and moments that feel ripped from the members’ personal journals. There’s also loads of passion in Rap Monster’s voice talking about these new songs as he sees and envisions the larger picture and message for his band’s latest batch of forward-thinking EDM, hip-hop and pop tracks. Read on for Billboard’s deeper analysis of Love Yourself: Her with Rap Monster.

Q: Let’s start right from the beginning with “Serendipity.” Why was this the right song to choose as the intro and kick off the era?

When I wrote the lyrics, melodies and the first themes of “Serendipity,” I tried to come up with some rare things you find in life, something very special, like the calico, three-striped cat; things that have extraordinary meanings in people’s lives. I wanted to share this moment.

Q: I was reading the lyrics are gender neutral, which I think is really powerful. Was that a conscious decision?

The lyrics were based on rare and special things in life. So, I thought, those feelings transcend genders, cultures and barriers between people. We always put out the “Intro” just before releasing our single, so the intro is taking the role of telling the concept of this album. But “Serendipity” was actually the right song to share the feelings of our single, “DNA.” The title is about how our DNA is connected in the universe, I think that was the right feel for this album.

Q: Let’s talk about “DNA.” How does this single continue and progress the story of BTS?

When we’re talking about our title tracks, “DNA” is about the expression of a young, passionate love. The lyrics are like, “The two of us our connected fatefully from the start, our DNA was just the one thing.” At the same time, “DNA” is taking BTS to new ground. We tried to apply new grammar and perspectives – if you listen to the song, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say – it’s very different from our previous music, technically and musically. I believe it’s going to be the starting point of a second chapter of our career; the beginning of our Chapter Two.

Q: “Best of Me” is really impressive. It sounds like The Chainsmokers, but it also sounds like BTS. You didn’t lose yourself which isn’t easy when collaborating with new artists. What was that process like?

I love that track! We met them at BBMAs, we were so lucky. Actually, they invited us to their concert just the other day – they had a huge concert in Korea and we sang “Closer” together. For “Best of Me,” they gave us several tracks and samples months ago, we and our producers picked one sample, like, “Okay, this is fit for our next album.” So we worked on it, we sent it to them, we asked them what they think of the track we developed and got their opinions. And we made it! I’m so excited for it. [Laughs]

Q: Your albums always have deeper social and society commentaries. Let’s talk about some of the topics with this release. “Go Go” instantly comes to mind.

“Go Go” is a trendy song, but it’s about how our young generation are living their lives with low expectations and standards so people are upset with reality; they have little hope and there’s so much economic hardship. We wanted to say something about it and emphasize to the world that it’s not their choice, but brutal reality that forces people to live and spend as if there’s no future. But in Korea, “YOLO” has become a big key word for young people because we don’t have money and it’s really hard to get a chance to earn a lot of money. I think society has a lot of problems for young people. Young people spend their money on claw crane machines at arcades and they spend like $30 on trying to win these dolls. And then it’s like, “Oh! I spent all my money…shit. But I don’t regret.” That’s the biggest luxury for Korea’s young people: collecting accessories, cosmetics, that’s what they think is a luxury. It’s “YOLO” because it’s like, “I’m gonna buy allthis! I’m gonna buy all this food and I’m going to eat it! I’m going to do it!” I think it’s sad because it’s all we can. “Go Go” is just saying, “Okay, just do it, we won’t regret it. Just spend several bucks on the machine and eat the food!” But at the same time, the song is very easily to sing along to so I think many people will like that song, especially if they find the deeper meaning.

Q: Of course, I have to ask about making a skit interlude out of your BBMAs acceptance speech.

You need to hear “Mic Drop” because the skit was my speech at BBMAs –  because that was a big moment for our history – and then we put “Mic Drop” next to that because it’s like a flex – like, “Okay, we’re done. We don’t need to give a shit about anything.” That was the right skit and follow-up song for this album.

The last song, “Outro: Her” really spoke to me. It almost reads like a diary.

Ha! [Laughs]

Q: After talking with you, it feels like it recaps the whole album and is really introspective.

I think that was the fastest work I did for this album. I wrote the verse in 20 minutes; it just came, very truthfully, from the bottom of my heart. I thought it was the right outro for this album because it is really a range of emotions – I’m saying I met this person that I really love, this person is the love of my life right now, I’m saying that I was confused and I was looking for love and this world is complex. But I think it’s you so, “I call you 'her,’ 'cause you’re my tear.” “I think you’re the start and the end of me.” That’s what I’m saying: You’re my wonder, but you’re also my answers. You’re my “her,” but you’re still the “tear.”

The hook is saying that love is not all about the happiness, it’s just not just about the joy, it’s not just about delight. If you want to love a person, you should know that there are tears and there can even be hatred inside of it. I think a love really includes all of that. That’s what I was trying to say. It’s complex.

Q: And if fans are so lucky to own the physical album, they’ll hear two hidden tracks at the very. Why keep them secretive?

I think they’re hidden because you have to be a real fan of BTS to understand them. Otherwise, you won’t. Otherwise, you’d like be, “Why are they feeling so confused about things? They’re good?!? They’re No. 1 somewhere, they have so much stuff, why are they worried?” People always talk about that. But if you are true fan of BTS and you buy the album and you listen to the hidden track – if you are an Army and we spent time together from 2013, 2014 – they could understand. It’s kind of more special, more closer, to our true hearts.

We’ve been just practicing until now, day and night, to show these new songs and perfected performances. I left a message on our fan cafe, the other day, after we finished that ‘this EP will mark the turning point of BTS’ and even though the wait felt really long with this album – I think it was the huge event, the BBMAs, were in May – so much has happened.”

The wait has been particularly anticipated for the band’s famously passionate fan base, known as Army, who have been waiting for new tracks from Rap Monster, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, V and Jungkook band after voting them Top Social Artist at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards over fellow pop juggernauts Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes.

Since then, the BTS guys have landed distribution deals with Amazon and U.S.-based The Orchard (“We believe the physical album, still, really counts and it’s really important to connect with our fans around the world,” Rap Monster said) and hung out with worldwide chart-toppers like Major Lazer, Halsey, Charli XCX(“Maybe it’s just my sixth sense, but I think maybe we will be collaborating with even more interesting artists,” he added); even snagging The Chainsmokers to produce a beat for Love Yourself: Her.

One listen to the tightly produced record – which looks likely to make a big splash on the Billboard 200 next week – and the passion is palpable from the intense lead single “DNA,” the societal commentary in “Go Go,” among multiple lyrics and moments that feel ripped from the members’ personal journals.

Let’s start right from the beginning with “Serendipity.” Why was this the right song to choose as the intro and kick off the era?

When I wrote the lyrics, melodies and the first themes of “Serendipity,” I tried to come up with some rare things you find in life, something very special, like the calico, three-striped cat; things that have extraordinary meanings in people’s lives. I wanted to share this moment.

I was reading the lyrics are gender neutral, which I think is really powerful. Was that a conscious decision?

The lyrics were based on rare and special things in life. So, I thought, those feelings transcend genders, cultures, and barriers between people.

We always put out the “Intro” just before releasing our single, so the intro is taking the role of telling the concept of this album. But “Serendipity” was actually the right song to share the feelings of our single, “DNA.” The title is about how our DNA is connected in the universe, I think that was the right feel for this album.

Let’s talk about “DNA.” How does this single continue and progress the story of BTS?

When we’re talking about our title tracks, “DNA” is about the expression of a young, passionate love. The lyrics are like, “The two of us our connected fatefully from the start, our DNA was just the one thing.” At the same time, “DNA” is taking BTS to new ground. We tried to apply new grammar and perspectives – if you listen to the song, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say – it’s very different from our previous music, technically and musically. I believe it’s going to be the starting point of a second chapter of our career; the beginning of our Chapter Two.

“Best of Me” is really impressive.

[Laughs]

Your albums always have deeper social and society commentaries.

It’s “YOLO” because it’s like, “I’m gonna buy all this!

Of course, I have to ask about making a skit interlude out of your BBMAs acceptance speech.

Ha! [Laughs]

After talking with you, it feels like it recaps the whole album and is really introspective.

And if fans are so lucky to own the physical album, they’ll hear two hidden tracks at the very.

The group takes a trip back to the middle school on the last day of sophomore year and discuss college, their lives as they know it, and what’s to come.

At some point a few years ago, I fell out of love with music. On tour, I’d stay in the darkness of my bunk all day until soundcheck, struggle to hold a conversation during meet & greets, then barely make it through the shows without counting down the minutes until they were over. At home, it wasn’t much different. I was apathetic toward the album we were making and toward my abilities as a songwriter, so I slept all day, drank all night, and distracted myself with new people who weren’t really even my friends. I lost the ability to care, and I lost the ability to feel anything. I didn’t love me, so why should you? It was the darkest period of my life. I planned a solo trip to Alaska with the intention of never making music again when I returned.

Thanks to fate intervening, the day before I left for Alaska I had a chance encounter with my longtime friend Matt Beckley. As the story goes, I ran into Matt at a cafe in Los Angeles, and he asked me to join him back at his new house to check out his studio and maybe write some music. (I’d like to think Matt’s extraordinary intuition knew I was in the darkest before the dawn phase). We went back to the house, opened a bottle of Stranahan’s, and didn’t write a single fucking note. Instead, we just sat around and talked about what we loved about music in the first place. Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, The Gin Blossoms, Tom Petty, you know the rest. We talked about where we’d love to see music GO. We both wanted to move the needle and we both wanted to chase great in a world full of just good. As I was leaving that night, Matt said to me, “Go to Alaska and stop thinking about what you’re gonna do when you fail. Think about all the things you’re going to do when you win.’

That was the moment that DALES was born.

Over the next 2 years, Matt and I began writings songs together. A lot of songs. The best songs I’d ever written in my life. I was alive again. Writing with no destination, no business plan, and absolutely no fear. For the first time in a long time, I was making music simply because I loved it.

After a while, I decided that these songs were a different chapter of my life, a new story, and I put them away while The Summer Set finished Stories For Monday. Then that record came out and we went on tour. Then, unfortunately the darkness came back. I lost that fire in my soul I had finally just found again. So, I spent every minute I had when we weren’t on tour, locked in the studio at Matt’s house trying to feed the flame that gave me my love for music back.

Here we are now.

At this time, I have carefully decided that I don’t want to lose that spark anymore. It is in my best interest to follow my heart and dive head first into this new adventure. I want to finish these songs, play them live, and give the world the DALES record I think it needs to hear. The record I NEED to hear. I’m an all or nothing kinda guy and a terrible multi-tasker, so if I’m finally gonna do something…I want to give it everything I’ve got.

With that being said, unfortunately that means The Summer Set will not be making any records or touring plans indefinitely.

To John, Stephen, Jess, And Josh:
I have loved this journey every single step of the way. On my best days and on my worst days. From The Modified Arts to The Macy’s Day Parade. We put more miles on that old van than dollars we may ever have in our bank accounts. (I still can’t believe we sold that van to a church.) This has been, and may always be my greatest ride.

John and Stephen- It is no secret you guys are well on your way to becoming two of the best music producers I know. If you blink, you’ll realize you’re already there. I can’t wait to see what you guys do next, and I can only hope one day we find our way into the studio (or at least the makeshift one we made in your shared bedroom in North Hollywood) someday again.

Jess- Your drumming and your friendship are among the most sturdy and reliable things I may ever find in this lifetime. You’re my sister. We fight a lot (Literally, you once beat the hell out of me in a Taco Bell parking lot in the middle of Texas), but I love you. You already have more drum gigs lined up than you know what to do with, and I will be your biggest fan along side everything you do.

Josh- There are no words to describe how valuable you are to this band, and to me personally. That became abundantly clear when you actually left the band. We tried to make Stories For Monday without you, failed, threw in the towel, asked for your opinion on the new songs, you told us it was our best work yet, told us we HAD to put the album out, and we told you we couldn’t do it WITHOUT YOU. So you jumped back in, without hesitation. You are our rock. You are there when we need you. You are there when I need you. You’re there when ANYONE needs you. There’s a reason you’re the first person anyone calls when they need advice or they’re in trouble. I hope life in Nashville is everything you want it to be, where I am sure you will figure out how to balance being a hit songwriter AND a future mayor at the same time.

To The Fans: All I can say is thank you. I never in my wildest dreams thought this would last 10 years. You were there for me on my worst of days, and I’m sorry I wasn’t always there for you in return. You guys stood by our side during the awkward teenage years, through the terrible haircuts (which thankfully, you can still google!) through growing up, and most importantly…through the blood, sweat, and tears of four albums and more tours than I can count. I’ve seen places around the world I never thought I’d see, all because of you. There is no home quite like a room full of you guys screaming back the songs we made together. Make no mistake, that will live forever and never die.

As for me, I’m on a lifelong journey searching for the right and the real. To learn how to feel everything again. To learn how to love and be loved in return.
To fall back in love with music. I was born to write songs and be on stage and I can’t believe I almost gave that up. It’s my greatest magic trick.

Bruce Springsteen once said, “Everything dies baby, that’s a fact, but maybe everything that dies…someday comes back.“

See you soon,

Brian Dales

Favorite Summer Albums of 2017

summer is almost over ;-; but these 10 albums made this summer v special for me and i highly recommend all of them :)

10. Aminé - Good For You

I’m not a big fan of Aminé but this album proved that he’s not a one hit wonder and has a LOT of potential. the album is very colorful, at times it sounds like the band fun. made a rap album tbh. also i personally care a lot about album covers and they actually affect the way i judge & listen to music, and this cover art is absolutely one of my favorite album covers of the year as it perfectly visualizes how the music sounds.

9. Haim -  Something to Tell You

ok maybe this album is not as strong as their first album but it’s the most “dream-girl-californian” type album that I’ve heard in a very long time, it’s like a soundtrack for all these tumblr blogs dedicated to highly stylized pictures of California and California girls and it’s amazing.

8. Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1

honestly, i never expected to like this album as much as i do but it’s like literally the definitive American summer album. and like it’s like one of those albums that no matter how much they tried to fuck it up, they couldn’t make it any less good than it is with the list of artists that are featured on it. i mean Frank Ocean on the first fucking track?? and then the rest of the album being equally good? double amazing! “Faking It” is one of my fav song of the year despite the fact that i almost threw my headphone the moment i head Lil Yachty screech at the very end of it to compliment Kehlani, smh.

7. Brockhampton - Saturation

Kevin Abstract is amazing. American Boyfriend is an amazing album and Saturation is like Brockhampton’s take on that album and beyond. extremely fresh sounding, the rapping of every member is unique and exciting, the band knows their audience and so their lyrics resonate extremely well in a genuine way which makes the album very relatable for people in their late teenage years/early 20s.

6. Mura Masa - MURA MASA

the cover art is great but clearly a rip off of The Life of Pablo. but that doesn’t change the fact that Mura Masa is consistently amazing. despite releasing half of the album before the official release, the non singles - particularly “Who Is It Gonna B” , “Nothing Else!” and “Messy Love” - are phenomenal and it has such a London sound, and he even described the album as a love letter to London. every time I hear it, it makes me wanna move to London <3

5. Queens of the Stone Age - Villains

okay i can’t really judge this yet because i only listened to the shit quality leak, but MAN, even with that shit quality, this album fucking RIPS. less accessible and more experimental than “…Like Clockwork” and heavier too. lyrically and conceptually, though, it sounds like it comes from the same headspace that resulted in “…Like Clockwork” but this album to me is like a very epic epilogue to the previous album. “Villains of Circumstance” is a masterpiece and a strong contender for the best closing track of any album this year.

4. Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory

i’ve talked about this album before but the more rap albums i heard these past few months, the more amazing this album became for me. i mean just go listen to Mike Will Made-It’s new album (or any other generic trap album from 2017) and Big Fish Theory back to back, and the difference in production and atmosphere says it all.

3. Tyler, the Creator - Flower Boy

i’ve also talked about this album before but this album this summer is what Blonde was last summer for me. it’s Tyler’s most defining work, and it only makes me excited to see how he will follow it up.

2. Lorde - Melodrama

this masterpiece soundtracked a lot of my sad & happy summer afternoons and nights. every time I listen to it, it reminds me what’s like to be 20 years old, and “Supercut” is the ultimate Lorde song ever tbh; amazing dance beat + intensely emotional lyrics. and that applies for most of Melodrama, every single emotion and feeling that Lorde expresses is actually felt.

1. Arcade Fire - Everything Now

believe it or not, in 2017, it’s unusual to like Arcade Fire. I’m still trying to figure out if the disappointment that this album brought to fans and critics is as a result of power of our absurdly high expectations, or the marketing campaign that pissed a lot of fans and critics off. either way, what matters for me is that I loved both the album promotion and the album itself. this is the best summer album (and potentially my favorite album) of 2017 for various reasons. for me a great album is an album that creates a world that makes me feel like I’m living in it for the duration that it has, and if it’s great enough, it makes me wanna live in that world forever (no matter how good or bad that world is). Arcade Fire are masters of teasing and promotion, and through a genius marketing strategy, they created a world for this album before it came out and after listening to the album few times after my initial disappointment with the singles, everything about it just made sense. the great irony about it is that despite its ridiculously complex and seemingly confusing promotion, the album itself is extremely direct and heartfelt. yes, the songs are extremely well produced and multi-layered, but what makes it amazing is just how personal it is. even in a song as colorful as “Everything Now”, there are some really dark lyrics. “Peter Pan” is about reaching an age when you start losing your parents (Win wrote it after realizing his dad is sick). “Put Your Money on Me” is a song where Win directly references his religious family and the dissatisfaction of his mother at his wedding, since Regine is apparently not of their faith. “Creature Comfort” and “Good God Damn” are both about a suicidal person (Win’s close friend) and why life is always better, even at its worst. and finally, “We Don’t Deserve Love”, an amazing heartbreaker about the simple concept that no matter how much we rely on people of higher status, whether our parents or religious figures, for love and connection, love and connection are inside us right from the start without us even realizing it sometimes. i think this album is the one that makes the most sense to me along with Father John Misty’s “Pure Comedy” - as both albums talk about the absurdity of our modern lives, yet in the end, both albums conclude with the statement that love is what matters the most at any stage of our life.

Kiwi - Harry Styles Imagine

Words: 3,215

Pairing: Harry Styles & (Y/N) (Y/L/N)

Requested: No

Warnings: Swearing, mention of drugs and alcohol

Based off the song, ‘Kiwi’

Part 1 of ‘Kiwi’ - Part 2 - Part 3

They met back in high school, bumping into each other in the hallway. He did not know her at first, learning that she just moved from New Zealand, but she was not your typical girl. Her status from her parents made her known across her school. But she was not like the other girls he found, he knew about parties that went on on school nights, where all her friends went, but he saw her at the local market, or at the park on those nights. He found that she was never interested in drinking, drugs or sex, like the other boys and girls. She would turn down everyday date with her friend’s friends, they told her that she was boring for not doing it, but it was the money that kept their friendship tied.

He tried his best to talk to her, every time he would see her, he tried to have the courage to say a simple word, but none came out. He knew he was like every other ‘low commoner’ of the school, over being head over heels in love, but, he could not care about it, all he wanted was a simple conversation at that moment.

It was a month after that finally whispered a word to her. He learned over the month that she was in his gym class, and art, but she stayed to her friends. She changed classes, changed chemistry classes, for unknown reasons. Harry was out of the bliss, he was scribbling random doodles when she walked in, him not knowing, it was the moment that the teacher said, “Miss. (Y/L/N), take a sit next to Mr. Styles.”, that all it took for him to look out, her telling him a ‘thank you’ and sitting next to him, on his left.

He tried his best not to stare, to be different around her, but when the teacher finished his lesson, and told the class to finish up their notes he turned to her, her not knowing.

“Hi, (Y/N).” He mumbled, he knew he was dead right there and then, wanting to shoot himself for just saying, ‘hello’, to the most known girl around school, but her head shot up.

“Hello, Harry.” She said back, him picking up on the foreign accent, he turned to his body towards her, she just smiled.

“You know my name?” He asked.

“Of course, I’m not a person to just know my friends, you seem really nice, so I asked around, and I found out, you’re also in my gym class.” She stated.

It escalated from there, it went from waving in the hallway, her friends giggling to her about how she can’t wave to people below them, but she did not care. Then, the two started to hang out more, (Y/N) coming away from her girlfriends and starting to hang out with him. He learned more about her, how her mum is British and her father was a Kiwi, like her, how her family has striving business, and that her parents are too poche for her taste, having a man already lined up to take her hand in marriage, but she ignored what will happen in the future and lived in the moment. That was one thing he loved about her, her living in the moment, worrying about the future another day.

But it was not friendship that arose, months later, their first kiss took upon, together, and it came more. They were a couple, her staying always at his house, even overnight, she wanted to escape her parents, the fighting between them and her brother, and their marriage, she did not want to walk along the hallways and get lost, she wanted to stay beside the one person she knew loved her, and that was him. It all came from a simple, ‘hello’, but like every relationship, it somehow ends. When Harry was the one to tour around the world, part of a band, he was not her safe haven anymore. The two fell apart, she got married, all accordingly to plan, she was married at the age of seventeen, both parents consent, in Scotland. He was hitting world records then, touring the world with his new band, singing his first album, forgetting her.

She thought she was happy, moving to New York, taking her dream job and becoming a therapist, she liked it at first, but it was more of her parents wanting her to become that, but she got a job as a waitress, and married a rich business man. But the days dreaded, school days were long, work days were longer, and coming home to a drunk husband was never fun. She she excused herself, she quit her job, finished school, and became a therapist, working from eight to five. Though instead of going home to her husband who would be either drunk off his ass or fucking another girl, she went to a bar, drank, flirted, did drugs sometimes, just living her young life to the fullest.

He was twenty-two when he saw her again, he was in New York for work, and saw her at a coffee shop, but she was in and out, not even seeing him, but he saw her. When he dated her in his teens, she seemed all innocent, rich, daddy’s girl, a virgin, but no. Dating her was the time of his life, she was adventurous, just adding a tad bit of excitement to his boring world. She took him to places that forbid them by law, example, private properties, going to the carnival when it was closed, walking the streets at 2am, in the rain and blasting ‘Greenday’, throughout the small, dodgy places. It made him feel like he was unstoppable around her. But one thing he forgot, she was the one who told him to go on the X-factor, she was the reason he was standing in a fancy, New York coffee shop, selling records that hit the top of the charts, and he forgot all about her, did not even come and say his famous, ‘hello’ to her, when visiting his mother, did not call her, text nor email, just placed her in his subconscious mind, and look what it has gotten him, failed romances and singing his lungs out.

He finally talked to her a week later, walking into a bar, trying to drown himself on whatever was on tap. He saw her in the corner of the place, in a black, tight, strapless dress, flirting with a few guys and taking in the smoke of a cigarette like it was candy, while smoking one. But, he realised that she was not as innocent looking as she once was, now she has a perm, a tattooed arm, and she is showing as much skin as possible, laughing and drinking. He could not stop staring at her, she has changed, and he wanted to know, how.
Harry slowly took in the drinks, not as fast as her, drowning herself in hard liquor, and bossing the boys around her in how to win a game of pool. She was your typical badass girl, now. It must’ve felt like minutes, but it was more as an hour, when she finally noticed Harry, she gave him a smirk, excused herself from few college boys, and headed his way. She turned around at the beginning, giving a look to a boy when he smacked her ass, but she just gave him a smirk and walked off, sitting next to him.

“Look who I found, the famous Harry Styles. Is it just me, love, but were you staring at me, should I feel honoured that a man like yourself was looking at me?” She said, signaling towards the bartender to get her another, he laughed, telling the bartender to cancel the order and give her a water.

“I don’t really know, (Y/N). How much have you been drinking?” He asked, trying to figure out how drunk she was. She laughed, glaring at him.

“Had a few scotches, rums, and a whiskey, it was whatever those wankers over there, got me. I did not feel like buying myself drinks.” She said, leaning down on the table, trying to get over the alcohol, noting it was only a little bit past ten.

“Let me take you home, (Y/N), you’re pissed off your ass. Where do you live?” He asked, she started to get up, using Harry as a object to help her, starting to strut towards the door, ignoring his question.

Once outside, she turned to him, giving him her famous smirk, wrapping her arms around his neck, placing her head on his chest. Harry did not feel awkward for some reason, just wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her.

“Let’s get you home.” He simply said, placing her arm around his shoulder and helping her walk, placing her into his car that was around the corner of the pub.

She sat next to him, staring ahead, he took note of her tattooes, some of them looked retro, sailor girls, anchors, boats and water, he remembered how much she enjoyed swimming, that was one thing she use to do, that he could never do. In the early mornings, she use to come to the local dock, jumping off, just wearing a bikini, going into the pacific. He could never have the gut to just wear a bathing suit, no wet suit nor life jacket, she could stay in there for hours, he use to be the one who had to pull her out before she got hypothermia. She was still staring ahead, but she spoke to him, but not looking, grabbing the water bottle beside her.

“I don’t want to go home.” Is all she said, straight face, looking at the traffic that lied ahead, even though they were still in park. Harry looked ahead now, watching the drunks walk out of the pub.

“Why? Where do you want me to take you?” He asked, she turned to him, still all serious faced.

“Can you take me to your place, I just don’t want to go home.” She said, grabbing her phone from her bag and placing it on silent, he did not even realise that it was ringing. Harry felt controlled by her, that was one thing that happened in their past relationship. People dig dominant girls, and she is more than just that, it drove men around her crazy, it drove him crazy. But he placed the car in drive and took her to his New York apartment, sitting in silence.

“What are you doing for a living?” He said out of the blue, she just looked at him, taking a deep breath.

“I’m a therapist, but it seems I can deal with my patients problems better than myself.” She said, starting to laugh. Harry remembered she use to tell her deepest secrets when she was drunk, that is why she did it so much, to not hide herself.

“How so?” He asked, watching the road, she did the same.

“Take me home, actually, turn here.” She told him, all Harry did was nod, pulling up to a more than a million dollar mansion, walking out.

“Bye Harry, see you around.” Is all she said, starting to walk up the long pathway towards the house, lights turning on.

Harry saw her again, a few days later, she was sitting outside of a bar, drinking and coming down from her high. She was in a different black dress, but just as showy, just watching around her. Harry saw her, he was walking down the road to get to his apartment, when he just saw her, looking up the blue sky, and just thinking. His body took control and he sat right next to her. It took him by surprise when she was the first one to talk.

“I’m quitting. I know I said it before, but I am doing it.” She stated, still looking ahead of her, taking her left hand and passing him the bottle of beer. She was sober, he thought she was high, but she was sober.

“I follow the same fucking routine, everyday. Wakeup, escape from that house, go to work, get high after with some fuck heads from college, fuck one, drink and pass out as home.” He just nodded, letting her continue.

“Harry, you promised me you’d come back, and you did, but never to me.” She said, turning to him, placing her head on his shoulder. He took note of the wedding ring that laid upon her left, ring finger.

“I know, and I’m—” He was interrupted.

“It’s fine. You promised to marry me and look at me, now, going home to a fuck head, because that is what my parents wanted, apparently.” She said, it took him by surprise, a girl like her, as strong as her, opinionated and passionate, actually married the man that her parents sent up her with.

“I love you.” He blurted out, she took her head off of his shoulders.

Like every relationship, it escalated, it was like them, the two of them became more, ignoring what will happen and live in the moment, she would come to his place, talk about their life, he learned that she is still the girl who made life fun. She felt like herself around him, again, forget about her husband. He learned that she loves to play with men, and it made him laugh. It was only weeks together, but he changed her, she stopped smoking, drinking and doing the drugs, and she just lived like before. But the relationship did not just end like that, they started to date, to kiss, to make love to each other. They were still young, let them live a little longer.

“My husband is such a hypocrite. When we married, I was seventeen and he was twenty-five, and it was like we eloped, going to Scotland, got married, no wedding, really, and went straight to New York. Anyway, we said to each other that we could not see anyone, a month later, I found out he has girlfriends, and fuck buddies, so I did not care anymore. I just use his money for school and a nice ride and place to stay, and just lived, hooked up, dated. I fucking hate this wedding ring, it’s like a thousand pounds, but I don’t like my home.” She concluded and starting to laugh, he just watched her. The two of them were sitting on his couch, drinking wine and sharing experiences.

“I loved to play with guys, played hard to get, I just felt loved in a way, so I was like an actress, every night I would go to another bar, have a new identity, and name and pretend I was someone else, but I would always wear a black dress, it was like therapy to me, I felt loved.” She said to him.

Love came out of the relationship, (Y/N) filed for a divorce, she started to become more with Harry, until. Harry and her ended months later, she ended it, she did not know why, but the two were constantly fighting. She took up the hard liquor again, not the drugs nor smoking, but she enjoyed the liquor, the divorce went through, fastly, surprising her, but she would come home drunk sometimes, she was uncontrollable, he found, just like before. She loved to do what she use to do, she the same, look like an angel in the day, but was a demon by night, and he could not function with her. He also wanted to end it and focus with his life, his music, it was the best for both of them, she wanted to explore the world, and he could not do that with her. But what hooked her to walk away was the words he spoke to her, “You’re a drunk, constantly craving for attention, it is like during the day, you don’t care about me, that I am here, and that I love you, and you go out and get pissed out of your mind, mess around with guys, with flirting, and come home and demand attention from me, sex from me. You need to go to rehab, we are done.” It hurt her those words, but there were more than that said. And he just left, like before, not telling he was going, he went away, and forgot, like the first time around, but she called him.

She sat next to him, months afar from the night of the bar, she was still, sitting next to him on the couch, it was like she was a silhouette, looking ahead, can’t tell if she was alive or not, like the night they met, driving her home, she showed no emotion. Minutes later, she stood up. She called Harry to ask if he could come over, she had something to tell him, but she did not know if she could squeeze it out, blurt it to him, she got up, helped herself to the liquor that was in the cupboard. Sitting next to him, she acted the same, giving him a cup of the famous liquor, Hard Candy, she gave him a glass, she took the bottle, chugging it.

“Fuck it.” She said, placing the bottle down, and started to kiss him.

Now she sat, it was four months since the two ended, she has not seen him for four months, and she sat next to the toilet, the taste of vomit still in her mouth, and four pregnancy sticks above her on the counter, she knew it before she could look at it, but again, she was just a broken drunk, according to him. He has not contacted her for four months, when she tried to call, it went straight to voicemail.

It was half an hour of sitting in her own pity party when she finally got up, took the sticks and sat down in the same spot, next the toilet, all four of them read the same, the stupid double, pink line. She did not know what to do, so she pulled her phone out, tapped his number and waited, it went straight to voicemail, like she expected.

“Hi Harry, its me, (Y/N), I know you don’t want to talk to me, but I just want to let you know that I am better, I went to rehab, and I’m fine, but you really did hurt me, but that is not what I want to talk about. Harry, I’m having your baby, but it is none of your business. I don’t want you in its life at all, I don’t want you to call me, because we are not each other’s business anymore. Don’t call me, block me, do what you need to forget me, since you’re pretty good at that, I’m doing the same. We are over, I finally realise it,  and I don’t want to see you anymore, I’m not your innocent girlfriend back from highschool, I’m a fucked up, divorce woman, tattooed and forgotten, and now pregnant. So, don’t call me back. Bye.” She said, ending it, placing the phone next her, and knew she had to continue her life.

I felt like I should write an imagine based off the the song, ‘Kiwi’ by, Harry Styles, so I did. Hope you enjoyed!

Ai Yazawa End-of-Book Notes 1-21

So at the end of every volume of NANA, Ai Yazawa has a brief paragraph about the manga or just some introspection about her life. They give great insight into the series and I think only a few are found on the scans of NANA online, so I thought I’d share them all!

Volume 1

The creator, Ai Yazawa, told us, “I created this story so that it could be enjoyed as a stand-alone and, at the same time, have a complete ending that could be connected to an ongoing series.  I hope you’ll look forward to the future of the two Nanas!”

Volume 2

A note from Ai Yazawa: “I had thought that if the two Nanas met each other, they would probably be constantly fighting, but they seem oddly friendly.  What’s up with that?!  It’s one of me (not so) seven wonders (ha-ha).”

Volume 3

Since childhood, the artists I’ve looked up to haven’t been writers and illustrators, but mostly musicians.  Music provides me the most emotional effect and excitement.  If there was no music, I don’t think my creative juices would boil.  Music is that important to my life.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 4

I realized one day that there are hit songs with the same names as the main female characters, NANA, JUNKO, and SACHIKO (the kanji for JUNKO is different, though).  It’s not that big a deal, but I sometimes just hum the melodies longingly.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 5

In the initial drafts, Nana’s band was a rockabilly band like the Stray Cats.  But due to various circumstances, I didn’t keep it that way.  But if they were rockabilly, Ren, Nobu and Shin would have had pompadours.  And Yasu too?

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 6

When I was a child, I used to take piano lessons.  Even after I stopped taking lessons, I bought sheet music I liked and continued playing.  I’ve had my hands full for several years now, but one of these days I’d like to learn how to play jazz piano, which I’ve wanted to do for years now.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 7

I had an opportunity to interview a group of professional musicians.  I showered them with questions, but they answered willingly, and it was very helpful.  I was having problems balancing the fictional world of manga-like simplicity and gorgeousness with a sense of reality.  But I realized again that what’s important is the humanity of the characters.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 8

When I was in high school, there was a cool girl in my class who was a lone wolf.  I was really into a foreign New Romantic-type band then, and when she asked me one day, “Do you want to go to their concert together?” I was overwhelmed.  My heart fluttered more than when I was with my boyfriend (☺).  Have you had a Hachiko experience like that?  - Ai Yazawa

Liam Payne on 'missus' Cheryl, becoming a dad and feeling 'stranded' after leaving One Direction
By: Guy Kelly - 22 SEPTEMBER 2017

It must have been well over a year ago now, when Liam Payne realised he had absolutely nothing interesting to say. The singer, known to most as ‘Liam from One Direction’ until the group’s indefinite hiatus in January 2016, had returned to the studio, settled into the idea of being a solo artist for the rest of his days, and promptly drawn a blank. He was, he says, just too darned happy to think of anything.

Everything in his life had fallen into place. He’d found love, moving in with Cheryl (formerly Cole), a fellow junior royal of the Top 40. Their first child, a son named Bear, was well on the way. He had signed a huge record deal with Capitol. He felt fitter and healthier than he had in years. And, yes, there’s no denying it: he was pretty pleased that he no longer had to be in the biggest boyband in the world.

‘I had a bit of a problem formulating what was going on in my brain into the music at first,’ he says, ‘because I was so content with everything in my personal life. It’s easy to spill your guts out on a ballad. But I was thinking, “Oh God, I’m really happy – what am I going to write about?!”’

More than 12 months on, the answer to that question still isn’t entirely clear. Payne’s debut album, as yet untitled, won’t be released until early 2018. There have been two singles, though, with a third, the unsubtly titled Bedroom Floor, arriving next month.

mumu (multi-muse) plot ideas

pt 1:

  • Band members on tour
    • A four or six part band, on the road playing shows for adoring fans. Radio appearances, staying in hotels, hiding from paps or over-obsessed stalker fans. Recording sessions in the studio whenever humanly possible. A ton of ot4/ot6 vibes because there’s nothing quite like doing what you love on stage with your best friends, or exploring the world with them.
  • Youtube friends
    • Doesn’t really matter how big your group is for this, it’ll work. It started with some mutual subscriptions. Some friendly youtube comments. Eventually there was social networking on other sites, and then a few video collaborations here and there. Fast-forward, your characters’s channels have gotten mega popular. There are joint meet ups, taking selfies with subscribers, trips all over the world (youtube videos at disney world, or on the London eye anyone?) The group are all great friends, and what’s best is that they’re having the time of their lives just recording the fun!
  • Boarding School
    • There are so many ways you could go with this honestly. Study groups are cute, maybe have your muses in one of those - studying super hard to keep their scholarships? Or you could have them in separate cliques, having to defend each other to their friends who have never liked that other group. Or you could have a some of your characters as scholarship kids, and the rest as rich kids, a ton of clashing and a ton of pining to be accepted into the rich circle. The possibilities are endless.
  • Witches
    • A modern coven maybe? I’m just thinking like some teenagers who’s grandparents had magic, but it skipped a gen or so. As a consequence they’ve got to figure out how to use it, and how to incorporate it into their modern lives. Have them convert an old abandoned apartment into a meeting place. Have them write their spells on ipads. Explore the which craft hierarchy. Have them enchant common things like their house keys (so they’ll never loose them), have them store their supplies in tupperware containers. Modern witches man, so rad.
  • Apartment Block
    • A Friends-esqe group who all live in the same apartment block, who basically share each other’s places anyway. Really cute friendships and relationships and the sort. Everyone getting together for christmas or new years or whatever because these people are family now. It’d just be really cool okay.
  • Sports Teams/Cheer squads
    • A few muses on each team/squad. Lots of rivalries, lots of games where the whole team comes out to watch the match. Maybe two of the muses secretly like each other and a Romeo + Juliet subplot emerges.
  • Secret Agents/Heist group
    • This might be best with a lower number of muses, I’d stick with four. Lots of planning out bank heists and running from cops and celebrating once the mission’s complete. Rappelling from glass ceilings and sneaking through air vents in skintight black suits and ah the disguises they’d have, the cover stories you could explore!
  • Gangs
    • This might be good if you’re feeling a bigger group. You’d need a ring leader, your muscle men, the followers, ect. Maybe they dabble in selling drugs, maybe they have fun with them themselves. Maybe there’s a lot of power abuse, a lot of acting as if they own their city – because honestly the gang does own the city. A feeling of indestructibleness from the head honcho and utter helplessness from the ones who just want to get out.
  • Drama Club
    • Again this could be as big or as small as you want, but I feel like this would be great for a larger group. A ton of staying late to rehearse even though they’ve been over their lines hundreds of time that day. Stages kisses not feeling like stage kisses at all, wardrobe malfunctions, fighting over roles, trying to make everything work at the last minute because holy shit we were not prepared to take on a show this big. Exploring the relationships between actors, backstage tech, costume design. Cast parties after really successful shows, hanging out and killing themselves laughing doing improv. I don’t know you could do a lot with it okay.
American Satan: An Interview with Andy Biersack, Ben Bruce and Ash Avildsen

Interviewer: Sam Rivman
Source: www.huffingtonpost.com

Sam: What is the film’s plot rooted in? Is this someone’s personal experience?

Ash Avildsen: With the exception of the physical manifestation of Satan, everything in the film is based on real events. Either myself, or these guys, or the producers have had these experiences in the rock music scene. It didn’t take that much crazy imagination, even though when people see it they’ll say “how did they think of that?”. Specifically when it comes to rock music craziness, truth is usually pretty important.

Ben Bruce: It’s a pretty accurate metaphor I think, the devil and selling your soul.

Andy Biersack: Personally, my character in the movie is from the Midwest and goes out to L.A to be a big rock star. In that regard it’s very similar to my own life. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and left to make it in the rock world. The difference is I didn’t make a deal with a deity. When there’s so many divergences in paths that you can take to success, I think without a doubt you lose a part of yourself in those early years. You can sometimes forget where you came from initially, and the characters in this movie are right in that stage where they’ve given everything to become rock stars and they’ve been given the opportunity to get a shortcut. Hard work pays off, but I don’t know what I would have done if I had the chance to become very successful out of nowhere. When you’re hungry and you want nothing more than to have that success, who knows what you would do if someone presented you with the keys to the kingdom?

Long-Term Plan With Short-Term Fixes

Pairing: Y/N/Calum

Rating: All

Request: No (But this means a lot to me so please read)

Words: 4.300+

Summary: It’s hard to make a summary for this so basically it’s Calum reliving his worst nightmare of breaking up with you and having to suffer through a very deep and hard heartbreak.

It was like a strike going through his heart, breaking it into pieces over and over again by every single time that he replayed the horrible scenario in his head.

It couldn’t be cured with a pack of cigarettes like it always would. He couldn’t walk out on the balcony and pretend that nothing had happened because it was such a change that he just couldn’t.

He didn’t want to.

He didn’t want to accept and neither wanted to face reality.

Calum Hood, 19 year-old rockstar, was seen out and about 130 days consecutively.

Calum Hood’s rumoured to be cheating…

Calum angrily threw his phone across the empty hotel bed as the headlines started to add fuel to his rage. 3 years. He had been dealing with all the bullshit the media had thrown at him for 3 years. Not once did he flinch. He was reminded everyday that the consequences of living his dream might be costly but it was worth it, with all the people rocking out to the rhythms he composed, screaming at the top of their lungs to the lyrics that was so personal to him.

But the people who were wearing shirts with his face on them, the people who claimed to be his “biggest fans” stabbed him the hardest.
