I’m not sure whether or not this counts, but even if he wasn’t a prize to look at, Bertrand du Fortunesa was one of my favourite things about seasons 3 and 4 of Young Dracula. Bertrand was the series’ first major character who was really, unapologetically a really badass vampire. Solemn, menacing, not always entirely trustworthy though devoted to his duty and to Vlad, and with this long and tantalisingly vague past which was never properly explored. He died after being framed for treason and Vlad’s utter dismissal of him broke my heart once he was gone. So, here’s to Bertrand du Fortunesa, gone but not forgotten.
