This blend of Chardonnay, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, and Viognier has scored fairly consistently in past vintages (the 07 grabbed 90 pts from David Schildknecht), so when I found the 2008 vintage for only $13, I had to try it.
When most people think of the white wines of France, they think about Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhone Blends, and the Loire Valley, but rarely of Languedoc. This is a bit of a shame because the Languedoc region is producing some genuinely fantastic white wines now with particular focus on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and the wonderful Picpoul (those who are fans of crisp whites with minerality and good acidity should seek this variety out, particularly the cru Picpoul de Pinet). In this region, there are many values to be had and much to taste, so happy exploring!
I keep seeing posts with French music recommendations, but I have to admit most of it is not quite what I prefer (living in France I’ve had enough of Stromae for a lifetime). I thought I’d make my own list to bring in a bit of diversity!
Please excuse the approximative music genres. And the fact that I’m irreversibly attached to all of my parents’ old faves.
