Ben goes to bed quite early! An odd tactic, considering it’s elimination first thing in the morning!

Bay must have noticed Javi looking a little down after being shouted at because he comes to Discuss Cameras with him (despite knowing nothing about them). Javi then explains the advantages of SLR Cameras.

Once Loch was forced to return the hedgehog to his cage, Nic could happily play with him!

Behind the Scenes of Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (Part Two)

An excerpt from Benjamin Cook’s interview with Catherine from DWM #399

Later that day, in the breaks between scenes, Catherine, David Tennant, and various space-suited actors sit around a small table in the green room, playing the card game Switch, while River Song […] tackles the Daily Telegraph crossword. (“A large barrel? Three letters?” she wonders out loud.  “KEG!” replies everyone within earshot.)  Meanwhile, Catherine plays her Ace of Hearts, prompting David to exclaim, “Now, why would you want to do that?”

“Because I’m going to win,” she whoops.  “Get in!  One card left!”

“is that so?” David laughs.  “Just sit still, missy.  Sit still”

Afterwards, David sets the record straight: “Catherine gets too competitive,” he smiles, cheekily.  “It blinds her - blinds her to the tactics.  She gets overexcited.  She needs to be a bit more cold-blooded.  She needs to step back.  She needs to breathe.  She wasn’t winning.  She was fighting a losing battle.”

“Was David claiming that he was the best?” chips in Catherine, surveying her co-star with an impish eye.  “Well, he wasn’t the best.  He’s deluded.  I was the head of the leaderboard by a mile.“  The score sheet on the wall indicates that she’s beating David 13 games to ten.

“Can we step you back on set, please?” requests Dan Mumford, the First Assistant Director.

Catherine gasps.  “But I’m about to win!”

“Sorry, you’re needed on set.”

She tries another tack:  “Um… which set?” she asks, innocently.

Londoners may feel hot this summer, but historian Rosemary Ashton says it’s nothing compared to what the city endured in 1858. That was the year of “The Great Stink” — when the Thames River, hot and filled with sewage, made life miserable for the residents of the city.

“It was continuously hot for two to three months with temperatures up into the 90s quite often,” Ashton says. “The hottest recorded day up to that point in history was the 16th of June, 1858, when the temperature reached 94.5 degrees Fahrenheit, in the shade.”

In her book One Hot Summer: Dickens, Darwin, Disraeli, and the Great Stink of 1858, Ashton follows three famous Victorians through those steamy months.

River: *sigh* Ben, I am so sorry, but I had to go with my instinct on this one. It just felt like you were trying to pass on last weeks success alone. You haven’t really spoken to me, not even when we all went to the arcade. And you did so bad in the first challenge, it really felt like you didn’t even try. I know you’ve been doing stuff around the house, with repairing things, but it’s not enough. Considering you did so well last week, I expected something more, a continuation of that effort…

I am so sorry, Ben…

Ben: I understand, River. I can’t say I’m not hurt by this result, but I know you didn’t decide this lightly. If that’s how you feel, then I respect your decision.
River: Thank you for being so understanding. I hope you find someone worthy of you.
Ben: Thank you, and good luck, River.

So, what happened whilst River and Chad were gone? Well, Sky was her usual selfish self and cooked exactly one Hot Dog for herself. Bay went to bed after a disastrous fight with a chicken. Ben stayed in the hot tub all day, even after the other two had gotten out.

And Loch alternated between playing with his AI sprite, and the hedgehog he was now keeping in his pocket -.-
