benedict loves us

- Benedict Cumberbatch when asked if his wife Sophie Hunter is jealous of the attention he’s getting from female fans, June 9 ‘17 [x]

I was at university, playing Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s play Amadeus, when my dad told me, ‘You’re better than I ever was or will be. You’ll have a good time doing this. I’m going to support you’. It was a huge thing for a father to say to his son. It was very humbling and moving. One of the reasons I get out of bed in the morning and try to do my best each day is to make them proud.

“One of the great things is that the relationship that Sherlock and Watson have, it’s such a strong bond that I can only imagine that the relationship that you and Martin have off-screen it has to be just as similar, is that right?” Ben talks about Martin and how much they love doing the show ♥ x

With the loving heart of an optimist, I wish with every fiber of my being that Benedict doesn’t learn the nasty things which that hater/skeptic had to say previously about Sophie and himself–even while presenting herself as a typical, devoted fan.  He simply deserves far, far better than that–but nothing which that faux fan ever said, can detract from the kindness of this lovely man.  Kindness exactly as we’ve seen him extend to countless causes & people over the years of his noteriety.

The Light will always overcome the dark.

Excuse me. I need sit down. Because he’s not human. He can’t be. THOSE CHEEKBONES. I mean, we’re not even going to talk about his eyes, the laugh lines, his mouth, his hair, his expression, his eyebrows…. What was I saying? Oh yeah…HIS CHEEKBONES. As Stephen Fry said, you can shave Parmesan cheese off of them!!

breaking in my new sketchbook and my Palomino Blackwing pencil. it makes very dark blacks, but apparently also very reflect-y in the scanner. this was to be a value study and a texture study for a possible later drawing, only partially successful at both. ref is from the gorgeous Imitation Game Time magazine covershoot, with the weird lighting and even weirder jacket.

Happy 40th birthday, Benedict Cumberbatch! (July 19, 1976)
