believe it or not this was supposed to be a happy gifset

The future - and it is showing us this loud and clear

This episode was amazing. After flailing and basically shouting all day I am so happy and so excited that I joined tumblr - the quality of posts today has been excellent, both humorous and inciteful and I LOVE YOU ALL :)

I hope its ok I’m going to tag a few great posts in this to reference as I don’t want to go over stuff other people have already meta-d about so excellently!

This episode, titled the future, seems to me to be Dabb basically telling us what he wants for the next part of the show, the “better way” that he wants to take it.

So here are my main bullet points that I will expand on a little below and link those excellent posts to where relevant:

A. Sam

Sam is clearly portrayed again, recurrently as the researcher, the “brains” of the operation (before you say ‘Dean is so clever though!’ I’m just pointing out Sam’s love of the scholarly side of things and how this is where he fits). Sam’s endgame must now be to head up the MoL/hunter network in this respect.

B. Sam and Dean

They work so well as a team here, Sam putting a tracker in Cas’s phone while he’s distracted by Dean, researching v whatever Dean was doing (maybe making a pining mixtape along the lines of “all by myself” and “I miss you” “please come home”, BUT they are shown as different people, with different interests, skills and relationships - with Cas for example, & not codependent. Again hammering this home in this episode. THANK YOU DABB, GLYNN & BERENS.

This whole episode is one big love fest. We went from one ‘wow I can’t believe they just did that!’ to the next to the next with hardly enough time for us to catch out breath! WHAT WAS THIS EPISODE?!

OK, so we have :

1. My Romeo & Juliet / Gaze up Trope Balcony Meta.

2. The Mixtape Meta, another EXPLICIT romantic trope by @drsilverfish.

3. The Dean “keep it” parallels, the first one that came to my mind was Arwen (another human+ / eternal being who decided to relinquish immortality couple):

Aragon: this belongs to you.
Arwen: keep it, it was a gift… it is mine to give to whom I will, like my heart.

But also all the other ‘gift’ tropes, the standard romantic trope that when a couple breaks up you return the gifts…. I think Cas wasn’t sure he was going to be forgiven, after Dean’s outburst in the war room, so he goes to return the cassette, but Dean does forgive him nearly instantaneously, which actually makes it even worse that he has to steal the colt straight after…

5. The difference between Sastiel and Destiel again emphasised, more and more this season. I don’t think I even have to detail this, just, basically the whole episode shows this.

6. This magnificent gifset by @magnificent-winged-beast which shows the difference between Dean’s angst at actually watching the colt get destroyed and the potential killing of Cas…

Slight aside - Performing!Dean.

This magnificent gifset that shows Dean’s facade coming down, he doesn’t even attempt to make it sound less ‘gay’ when he tells Sam that Cas came to his room, played him and took the colt from his secret hiding place under his pillow, he even looks down before he says it like he KNOWS how it is going to sound but says it anyway.

source: @yourfavoritedirector.

And Sam doesn’t even flinch. YES THANK YOU DABB, GLYNN & BERENS!

4. SO…WHY is Dean still doing everything he did for Cas during this episode and still defending him to Sam even though he appeared pissed and Cas repeatedly betrayed him?

Well, in 12x12 Cas said “I love you”, clearly understood by Dean (and Sam to be directed at Dean). There was no real reciprocation though from Dean, other than Dean family-zoning him and Sam’s fantastic “we are doing this for you, Cas”.

So regarding Dean, Cas is hurt and believes it isn’t reciprocated. Now Dean is pissed and still using the WE card at every turn, so what is a celestial being to do? Cas assumes this is the end, that there is no hope, he returns the mixed tape. BUT Dean says no keep it, this is NOT the end.

Cas understands that this is therefore not the end, but it is complicated. He explains that he wanted to “come back with a win for you…. for myself”. He wants this for Dean and for himself, this is very important, everything he is doing now and in the future is NOT all about Dean, there is his own agency and morality involved here too.

For Cas, when it comes to it, he wants this reciprocation of his love of course, but right now he has bigger fish to fry and really he wants to protect Sam and Dean and save the world

Now, going back to the “what the hell is wrong with you man?” followed by an awkward silence…. and where Cas then goes to return the gift. Yes, Cas feels that he has said his piece in 12x12 and is rebuffed, but meanwhile Dean is struggling with what Cas has said and everything else that is going on. He has a lot on his plate, not only Cas but his own personal history, his deep seated issues that he is clearly working on this season (see all the performing!Dean facade crumbling meta going around), his issues around his mother, the BMoL, Lucifer, the nephilim…. I mean that is a lot for an emotionally healthy person let a lone DEAN WINCHESTER.

Dean is trying to say / show how he feels he’s just rubbish at it, but he’s getting better!

“We?” “Yes dumbass, WE.” This is his forgiveness. And it is betrayed just moments later. But does this stop him trusting Cas again? NO.

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. For their dynamic, to show that they still do ultimately trust each other.

Oh, and I just need to add how desperate I am for Sam to turn to Dean soon and just say “No, Dean, this is between you and Cas, stop bringing me into this”. PLEASE I SWEAR I WILL BE GOOD! I mean, how repeated, consistent and out of place it was (I mean, not only to shippers, I think anyone would think it was out of place the way it was portrayed in their personal conversation in Dean’s room) - this has got to be addressed, no?!

 5. A better way

So. What does this mean moving forwards?

Well, firstly, I have moved from being 85% sure Destiel would be endgame to about 95% sure. Lets be real. This episode cements this. Whether you like it or not, it’s happening.

So, what is the better way?

Overall, it seems that Dabb wants to move things forwards. And his key points all season are Free Will, breaking from past repressions and negative influences, moving forwards with what the characters choose and want for their endgame and for sure now endgame Destiel.

I have in the past speculated about quite a lot of stuff, some right and some… still to be seen and some not right, but the overall arc speculation that I saw foreshadowed since early season 12 is RIGHT ON TRACK.

Now, the question is will Dabb go backwards and go to the old, standard SPN ways where probably Dean and Cas will be separated, Cas will be wrong again in his trust in the nephilim - it WILL be evil (rehash of s6 and s8) and he will need to be ‘broken’ from the mind control by Dean in a stronger crypt scene etc etc etc.

Or will he move forwards, onto a “better way”? Will we get another s11 ‘happy ending’? Where it appears all good but there is still stuff going on behind the scenes for s13… Or maybe a not so happy ending but that ultimately will be resolved happily?

Maybe the baby has it’s grace removed (so glad this is an option it was driving me insane that they hadn’t mentioned it by now!) OR it’s not evil at all! it’s the ANTI-anti-Christ, it chose Cas because he is Lucifer’s mirror in that he LOVES Humanity. I mean, the whole point of the show is agency, free will and not being forced to follow the result of your parentage / past ….especially this season with Sam and Dean’s arcs….

Maybe human!Cas, potential hunter Daddies, Cas staying at home calling Dean while he’s out on MOTW hunts with Sam being all “Dean there’s poop everywhere, I’m sorry it got on your favourite shirt, but please please come home this is so hard!” “OK babe, don’t worry, we’ll be back tomorrow, the case was a milk run!” when actually Dean nearly died and Sammy saved the day and…. etc because really? what are we supposed to think from that motel scene? With Cas smiling all cute and using the world “righteous” when talking about the kids future guardian?! (and Kelly survives if we are going to be extra nice).

Maybe Lucifer will die / be dealt with and it is the MoL that are the big bad next year…..aiding the overall future arc of TFW as leaders of the MoL/Hunter collaboration (Chuck I hope so).

Or will it be a mix of the two?

Well my money is on that it will be a mix….

6.21/22 The Final Battle

Well, here we are. I can’t title this “the final write-up” because I still have to go back and finish six episodes in S2, but we’re certainly getting close.

My feelings about this show are large and complicated. My feelings about this finale are of overwhelming disappointment. Read on for large quantities of salt, like we’re talking “Visitors Guide to Hallstatt” here, maybe put on a helmet.

Review - 13x24

Hey guys, @jordan202 here. This is going to be a quicker one. Since it’s the last installment of the season, let’s wrap it up assessing the entire episode, but keeping the focus on Omelia of course.

I have to say that, compared to 13x23, this episode didn’t excite me as much. Sure, we got amazing moments, especially for Omelia, but I think this whole thing probably would have worked out better as a two hour season finale. In all honesty, I thought 13x23 was a bit more exciting. I could be biased by the fact that we had a huge Omelia turning point from ep 22 to 23 and a much smoother transition to 24, but I think the pace of last week’s episode was more intense.

@itsqueenveronica ~ “Okay, so you know how in episode 1, Cheryl throws a party and they end up playing 7 Minutes in Heaven? Well, could you possibly write something along those lines, but instead of Cheryl spinning the bottle for Archie, she lets Veronica spin it and it lands on her? And maybe there could have been tension between Veronica and Cheryl for a week or two before the house party?”

Anonymous ~ Could you do something where Veronica meets Cheryl before she meets Betty?

Word Count: 1214

Summary: After a few interactions with Cheryl Blossom, Veronica determined that she needs to protect Betty from Cheryl’s reign. In an effort to do so, Veronica needed to find a way to bend the rules.

Warnings: Fluffy UA

A/N: I’m SO sorry this took me so long!! I drifted a little bit from the requests, but it ended at the same result so I suppose it doesn’t matter. I’ll be posting it to Ao3 soon; if you want to follow us our handle is (@)rivervixens. Thanks for reading!! ~~ Peaches

After they arrived at The Pembrooks Hotel, Veronica’s mother greeted a familiar bellhop as Veronica’s eyes glanced around the lobby. They talked for a moment; her mother mentioning a chocolate shop that sold hamburgers, which at the time seemed to be the weirdest thing that Veronica had ever heard of. Hermione turned to her and asked if she wanted to go take a taxi and grab some food for them, leaving her to hope that the hotel’s motto, “Quality always” also covered the strange hamburger selling chocolate shop.

The Science behind HunHan

Warning: I took triple award science and got a B. Thomas took double award and he got a B-. Needless to say, we don’t know our shit, so please don’t take us seriously.

Alright, let’s get cracking.

P.S. I’ve avoided using GIFs and examples that I personally believe to be fan service, so don’t be throwing shade at me, okay?

I know, I know, I know, I’ve talked about the ideas of proxemics in literally every HunHan text post I’ve ever done, but WITH GOOD REASON.

A close physical relation with a significant other is statistically proven to improve emotional relations. Things such as physical touch, standing next to one another, and even subtle occurrences such as stands of eye-contact can contribute to this build-up of emotional connection.

Intense eye-contact.

Sehun getting exceedingly close to LuHan, resulting in Xiao Lu trying to push him away (I’m assuming out of surprise/awkwardness)

Sehun awkwardly getting into LuHan’s personal space…again :P

These kind of behaviours are due to an increase/rush of endogenous morphine. Endogenous morphine is basically a chemical in your central nervous system that tells you you’re enjoying something. Two of the most common examples of high-level endorphin intake is when one does exercise, or has sexual intercourse (but we all know which is better…let’s be real)

Case studies have shown that an increase of endogenous morphine will commonly occur when in physical contact with a significant other.

One of the reasons I think HunHan is just too real to be fake is due to the fact they were always staring at one another, invading each other’s personal space, and just generally being closer to each other in respects to the other EXO members. I highly doubt this would have occurred if they didn’t have some sort of romantic connection. If the romance wasn’t there, then there would have been no increase in endorphins. Just saying.

I suppose this next bit is more phycological than anything else, but let’s go with it.

Jealousy is an instinctive emotion. It works in the same way as, say, happiness. When something good happens, people tend to feel happy. However, some people act happier than others in different situations.

To put it simply, if someone gave Thomas a cake on his birthday, he’d be over the moon, whereas, if someone were to give me the same cake on my birthday, I’d still be happy, but less so in comparison to Thomas (I’m not a cake fan #shootme.)

Jealousy can be thought of in a very similar sense.

The way someone reacts to something is a display of their personal connection with said something.

Sehun has constantly shown that he has a problem with people being too friendly with LuHan.

Sehun disliking Jongdae holding LuHan’s wrist, so turning to stand between the two as a barrier.

When Suho was talking about LuHan.

When Sehun saw Jongin and LuHan making eye-contact.

Taking the last GIF as my example, if a friendly companion of LuHan’s were to see him make eye-contact with Jongin, they most likely wouldn’t care too much about the entire situation. However, Sehun’s overall reaction to pretty much all of LuHan’s interactions with others outside of himself is a clear display of jealousy.

Jealousy is a natural occurrence within all human beings. It’s an emotion triggered by possessiveness. It dates back to the original animalistic instinct to protect what belongs to you.

In other words, Sehun be getting all up in your business if you touch his Xiao Lu because his uber uber uber uber great ape monkey ancestors gave him that instinctive trigger trait to PROTECT ONE’S PROPERTY #MINEMINEMINE

lol. Okay.

Lastly, I’ma rant about awkwardness for a lil’ bit.

Awkward behaviour is usually a consequence of when our body goes into fight-or-flight mode. For those of you who don’t know what that is, when you’re faced with an awkward and/or challenging situation, your brain will instinctively switch to fight-or-flight (how and when actually varies from person to person). This is basically a programmed protocol your brain has fashioned to tell you to either run from the situation, or fight the situation. FACT: Fight-or-flight is the sensation that causes us to get butterflies in our stomach.

For most people 14-25, fight-or-flight is most commonly triggered by anxiety relating to judgement of others around them. Generally speaking, it does not occur with every single person in our surroundings (unless said person has strong levels of social anxiety, which neither LuHan or Sehun do…as far as I know haha).

Something I’ve noticed is that, generally speaking, people tend to grow anxious when around their significant other/longterm crush, thus formulating the fight-or-flight reaction, and resulting in awkward behaviour between both parties.

LuHan and Sehun trying to brush off an awkward encounter with the press when they just so happened to be standing exceedingly close to one another.

Sehun showing signs of extreme awkwardness after being caught staring at LuHan and forgetting to come back up from his bow.

Yet another slightly cringe-worthy interaction (but really, they’re so cute…like whahh)

As far as I’ve seen, Sehun and LuHan generally act more self-aware/awkward around each other than they do separated, due to the fight-or-flight response subconsciously being triggered by being within the presence of a significant other.

But yeah…*cough*

anonymous asked:

Ok your TL5Y comments have made me curious :) If you haven't already and wouldn't mind doing so, I'd love to hear more about specifically what Cathy did that you feel put her at fault (partly). I've seen the stage show and heard from others before and I'm not really one-sided, but I'd like to hear your perspective, especially because I feel like the movie tipped me even further in Cathy's favor, seeing more of her at Jamie's events along with feeling neglected and misunderstood and worse off?

I would like to point out before I write all of this, because there’s going to be a lot, that I don’t entirely blame Cathy. Jamie also did horrible things. I just think it’s very easy to see Jamie’s faults. So, now that my discretion has been put up, shall we?

In my opinion, I think the movie really did make Jamie out to be the enemy. For example, every stage production I’ve seen has never had more than one girl with him in bed at the end, and viewing him as a serial cheater in the movie really makes it seem much worse. I also personally think they pushed A Miracle Would Happen a lot farther than it needed to go, especially with the alcohol. I think that Jamie has always been a very big story teller, he’s got a very creative mind so sometimes, as writers do, he exaggerates things. But the movie does things that the stage production never does: shows him eyeing SEVERAL girls at the bar, going to strip clubs with his friends, and imagining other girls in their underwear. We would never see these things in the stage production, and we usually laugh a lot during this song, just like we do during A Summer in Ohio. I also don’t personally agree with JerJor’s choices in If I Didn’t Believe in You to get as angry as he did, because once again, it makes Jamie seem very condescending. Usually when I listen to that song, I can barely hear it over my heart breaking for how much Jamie really loves Cathy.

Now, anyways, on to Cathy. Or rather, comparing Jamie and Cathy.

“Here’s a headshot guy and a new Backstage, where you’re right for something on every page.” -Jamie
“Isn’t he wonderful, just 28? The saviour of writing.” -Cathy (sarcastically)
“I am so proud of you, baby, you’re doing what you never got to do before” -Jamie
“Jamie needs his space to write since I’m obviously such a horrible, annoying distraction to him.” -Cathy
“If I didn’t believe in you, and all of the ten thousand women you are.” -Jamie

Jamie was always very supportive of Cathy in her career, or rather, her lack of it. Even when things weren’t going well, Jamie wanted nothing but to see her succeed in what she loved doing. Cathy, on the other hand, resented Jamie’s success. And I think Jamie’s line in Moving Too Fast, “Some people can’t get success with their art, some people never feel love in their heart, some people can’t tell the two things apart, but I keep rollin’ on” really portrays Cathy in that moment. I know you’ve all seen the gifsets of him singing this line and how it pertains to Cathy. Jamie found success in his art, and Cathy didn’t. Jamie very much loved Cathy, although I do think that Cathy very much loved Jamie too. The difference was, though, that Cathy couldn’t tell those things apart in him. She thought all he loved was his work, and not her. “I’m a part of that, aren’t I?” And her resentment of his success was a huge fault.

“I will not be the girl who gets asked how it feels to be trotting along at the genius’ heels” (Climbing Uphill) / “I tend to follow in his stride, instead of side by side, I take his cue.” (A Part of That)
“I want you, and you, and nothing but you.” (I Can Do Better Than That) / “You can’t spend a single day that’s not about you, and you, and nothing but you.” (See I’m Smiling)

We all know Cathy was very contradictory. We’ve seen gifset after gifset of her saying one thing at the start of the show, and something very different at the end. I think it was hard for her to know what she wanted, because she swore to wanting something only to hate it afterwards. Although I didn’t quote it, the one that made me personally very upset, is in See I’m Smiling, she has a very unsuspecting personality. She starts off saying that she’s happy that Jamie could come and they could work on their relationship. But, once Jamie says he can’t stay, she gets upset with him. Jamie attempts to comfort her, but she pushes him away, and then at the end sings “And see I’m crying, and not do anything at all.” because I don’t know about you guys, but if a girl is pushing me away when I try to physically comfort her, I will not continue to do so. I think it was unfair of Cathy to be upset that Jamie wasn’t doing anything when she had already shown signs of not being wanted to be comforted. Now, I know a lot of you point out that it was awful of Jamie to leave her on her birthday, but this is one thing that I will fully support Jamie on. I don’t think he wanted to abandon her on her birthday. No one wants to leave their s/o alone on their birthday, that’s just a shitty thing for both of you. Plus, as a pilot’s kid, I can tell you that sometimes flying can be tricky, and if Jamie couldn’t make it back to New York the next day, what else was he supposed to do? If he had missed that party, I’m sure it would have looked pretty bad on him.

“Jamie is probably feeling just fine, and I’m still hurting.” -Cathy
“I’m not the only one who’s hurting here.” -Jamie
“Once the foundation’s cracked.” -Cathy
“You never saw how far the crack had opened.” -Jamie
“Maybe I’d see how you could be so certain that we had no chance at all.” -Cathy
“It’s not about another shrink, it’s not about another compromise” / “Some people analyze every detail, some people stall when they can’t see the trail, some people freeze out of fear that they’ll fail, but I keep rollin’ on” / “So we could fight, or I could wait, or I could go” / “You never saw I’d run out of rope.” -Jamie
(Just all of Still Hurting) -Cathy
“I made a promise and I took a vow. We wrote a story and I changed the ending, Cathy just look at me now.” -Jamie

I basically made these quotes in two. I gave Jamie a lot on the third one for a reason, but I’ll get to that as I go through these. First one I think is important. Jamie knew that this was going to hurt both of them, he was more than aware that this divorce would shatter Cathy’s heart. And of course, he was also breaking his own heart as he did it. I always say that I believe Cathy was very selfish, and I think that this is a prime example of it, in that she couldn’t see past her own hurt and pain to think for a moment that Jamie once loved her for five entire years, and that getting a divorce wouldn’t kill him. Alright, second one. I think this one just speaks for itself, that maybe Cathy wasn’t quite aware of just how broken everything was. She thought everything was going fine, that the foundation had just been cracked, but Jamie points out that the crack was open pretty far. Of course, they could be talking about different times, but remembering that Still Hurting and I Could Never Rescue You happen within 24 hours of each other, I think it’s important that these are the distinctions that are made. The third one, Cathy constantly believed that things could be fixed. She was a very hopeful girl when it came to the relationship, thinking that things could be fixed, but I gave Jamie all these quotes on this last one for a reason. The first quote states that it’s not like they’d never tried to fix things, they’d tried compromising and seeing shrinks, but as the last one says, Jamie just ran out of rope, and could no longer keep trying. The middle two sort of go hand in hand, although one might feel a little out of context seeing as it’s from Moving Too Fast, I think it’s important. Jamie couldn’t stick in a rut. He hated being caught standing still, and that’s probably how he felt at the end of the relationship. They could keep fighting and keep compromising and seeing more shrinks, but to him, they were standing still and running in circles, and he needed to move on in his life. In the end, I do think it was very mature of Jamie to leave Cathy, although I fully would agree in saying that it was awful of him to have to wait until AFTER he cheated on her to divorce her, I think it was smart of him to do so. Cathy would have never done that, because she kept wanting to try to fix something that never should have happened in the first place, to quote Jason Robert Brown here. Finally, with our last two, I think Cathy was very selfish. During all of Still Hurting, the entirety of the song is made up of “Jamie is ______”, constantly putting the focus on him and blaming him. He’s decided it’s time to move on, he thinks it was Cathy’s fault, when in reality, looking at the second quote, we might think different. Jamie also sings, “Facts are facts.” When he’s cheated on her, and he knows what he’s done is wrong, and he can tell that he’s done something awful by doing this. He made a vow to Cathy to always love her, and he changed it, and he lied.

I’m happy to write out other things, I guess. I will very much admit that it wasn’t all Cathy’s fault. Jamie was also a very faulted person. They were both faulted people who should have never been together. They ruined each other’s lives.

townseleven  asked:

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod I just had a moment. You know how the gif set of Allison dying in Scotts arms and the parallel with Liam and Hayden is floating around? Apply it to sterek and angst with happier ending

You know what’s even worse than those gifsets? The ones of Allison in Scott’s arms, Hayden in Liam’s, and Paige in Derek’s.

Because when it happens again with Stiles? Derek literally can’t believe it. How can the universe possibly hate him so much that his first girlfriend dies in his arms, the next two are mass murderers, and his last boyfriend also dies in his arms. His last, because he knows even now that there’ll never be anyone else. Stiles was it for him. And now he’s going to be gone.

Hunters had kidnapped him a day ago–of course, because when aren’t hunters trying to ruin their lives?–and held him, and the pack’s been looking nonstop. Scott’s on the other side of town with Liam, and Malia, Kira, and Lydia are somewhere in between, while Derek’s headed to the warehouse district. The second he reaches it, he picks up Stiles’ scent. He doesn’t howl for Scott quite yet, because just because he was here, doesn’t mean he is. But when he steps into the fourth warehouse, all hell breaks loose. Stiles is against the back wall, held at gunpoint, and as soon as Derek creeps inside, his eyes widen in fear. That’s enough to alert the guy watching him, and suddenly there are guns trained on Derek, too, and they have no qualms about shooting.

Unfortunately for them, they’re either terribly inexperienced, or they deeply underestimated Derek’s care for his mate, because he’s fought and killed all of them within two minutes–which maybe, maybe he would feel bad about, if one of them hadn’t shot Stiles in the fray.

They shot Stiles.

They shot Stiles.

Stiles, who’s clutching his chest as he sinks to the ground, already coughing up blood. Stiles, who’s the first guy Derek ever loved. Stiles, who’s the second person to really love Derek back. Stiles, who Derek knows he can’t live without.

By the time he hits the ground, Derek is there, pulling him into his lap. He grapples at Stiles’ hand with both his shaking ones, holding tightly and pulling pain. That’s a good sign, right? That he can take his pain? Unless- unless it’s just going to hurt till he dies. Unless-

“Hey, Der, it’s okay,” Stiles says, trying to smile as he looks up at him.

But it’s not. It’s not okay, because there’s blood flowing from his chest, all over their locked hands, and dribbling down Stiles’ chin even as he smiles.

“I’m- ‘m’gonna be fine,” he assures, and it hurts to hear his heartbeat skip on what he knows is a lie. “Just- uh, just call someone- just-”

And then he coughs again, spewing blood, and Derek can’t find it in himself to tell him that he doesn’t have his phone, and that an ambulance wouldn’t make it in time, anyway. Derek was just supposed to howl if he found him, not-

Stiles coughs again, his whole body shuddering with the effort, and Derek does it. He howls

It sounds mournful, even to him, and Scott’s answering howl is so, so far away.

“I love you,” Stiles says, and it sounds too much like goodbye. “And, and Scott, and Dad, um-” tears start to run down his cheeks, making tracks in the blood splattered there, “-tell them I love them, and- and I’m sorry for-”

Hey,” Derek interrupts, finally finding his voice. “Don’t say that. Scott’s going to be here soon. You’re going to be fine.”

“Yeah,” Stiles agrees, his damn heart skipping again. “Yeah, I- I know, but just in case. And I love you, Derek.” His voice sounds so much quieter, his heartbeat is so much weaker. “I love you, and- I don’t want you to- to feel guilty, or-”

How could he not? If only they had found him sooner, if only Derek were still an alpha, if only-

Stiles chokes, clutching his other hand over where his and Derek’s are pressing into the wound.

“Stiles? Stiles?”

His heart is still beating, painfully slow, but it seems he’s unconscious.

“Stiles?” Derek insists, shaking his hand. “Stiles, c’mon. Stiles, you can’t-”

He throws his head back and howls again; not for Scott, just in desperation. Stiles isn’t gone yet, but soon, so soon.

It’s another few minutes before Scott barrels in through the door, not even stopping to check for hunters, just running over to where Stiles’ limp body is cradled in Derek’s arms, heartbeat so, so slow.

He grabs Stiles’ wrist and bites down before Derek even gets a chance to say anything.

To say that he’s too weak for it to take, that it’s been too long, that there’s no way to save him. He wouldn’t be able to bring himself to say those things, anyway.

Stiles’ heartbeat gets slower, and slower, and slower, till it finally stops.

Scott hears it the exact second Derek does, looking up at him, eyes wide and horrified. There are tears streaming down Scott’s face, and Derek’s sure he’s crying too. It’s hard to tell. All he feels is numbness.

They sit there for five minutes, ten, just holding Stiles’ hands and crying, Derek silently and Scott loud and hitching, each of them occasionally letting out a baleful howl.

After what feels likes an eternity, Derek hears it. The softest noise. His eyes snap to Scott’s, desperate for confirmation that his mind isn’t playing tricks on him. Scott’s looking back at him, just as tentatively hopeful.

There, just the faintest sound, is a heartbeat. Getting louder, and louder, and louder.

When Stiles opens his eyes, looking up at them, he smiles weakly again, and regardless of his bloodstained teeth and pale lips, it’s the most beautiful smile Derek has ever seen.

On Octavia Knowing

Thanks to the lovely Cris for the question regarding this awesome gifset by bellamys-blakes. Sorry it took a while to get back to you!

This meta is:

i)      An analysis of the scenes in the gifsets and whether they are all about Octavia picking up on Bellamy’s feelings for Clarke (my opinion is no).

ii)      Whether Octavia would be the first to comment on any mutual feelings between Bellamy and Clarke.

dropship100 once commented that Octavia’s face is used as a reaction in Bellamy/Clarke scenes. Personally I find it interesting that the writers felt it necessary to focus on another person’s reaction at all. It is almost as if to say, “Hey, in case the swelling music and the lingering close-ups weren’t enough, please take your cue from Octavia and note that this is a very important moment.” Strategic.

The bottom line is this, I believe Octavia wishes for her brother to be happy and safe, and in S2 she comes to realise that these two factors become increasingly linked to Clarke.

1.      “That’s something I never thought I’d see”

Remember way back when the delinquents first set foot on the ground. Part of the reason why Octavia would go off with Clarke is because she wanted to escape her overbearing brother for a while. Quickly, they formed a friendship and I truly believe that Octavia grew to respect Clarke on her own terms.

Concurrently Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship was borne out of heated arguments, and even when they were determined to lead together, for a while they weren’t exactly on the friendliest terms. But I think Octavia would have seen them grow from enemies to co-leaders to friends.

Despite her words, Octavia’s reaction doesn’t strike me as a look of surprise. She faces down for a moment, the reaction of the sort of person just letting another pass by, and she smiles. It’s a look of slight amusement. When she says, “Now that’s something I’d never thought I’d see” perhaps it’s true that she never expected such a huge action, but it’s a slightly teasing, almost fond, statement. She notices the progression of relationship, and, get this – she approves.

She approves that Bellamy and Clarke are now at a stage where they are trusted friends. Which brings us to the next few gifs.

I am very curious to know what you think about Korrasami after the finale. You said you were going make another post about it. Well?

I think you’re asking me here whether I think Korrasami’s canon.  I’ve put my thoughts under a cut, because I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade and my opinions aren’t sunshine-y positive.  Let me just state that again: my opinions aren’t positive.  If that’s gonna wreck your day, please don’t read beyond the cut.

A Certain Dance

TITLE: A Certain Dance
AUTHOR: cheers-mrhiddleston
GENRE: Fluff, Romance
FIC SUMMARY: Alex loves to watch her boyfriend, Tom, dance in that special way.
RATING: T (curse words and some sexual mentions)
AUTHORS NOTES/WARNINGS: I randomly thought of this in the shower. I don’t know, I really like the characters. Maybe I’ll write more if I can. Feedback is appreciated!! Enjoy!

I wake up to the sound of a bird chirping (cliche, isn’t it?) and a sliver of sunlight escaping from behind the blue curtains, hitting the beige carpet. I blink a few times, my eyelids still heavy, and pulled my hand out from under the comforter. I check the time on my phone, charging on the bedside table. 7:13 A.M. On a Saturday? Too early for my liking.

My stomach says otherwise, making a small gurgling noise with want. I roll my eyes and carefully sit up, stretching my neck and arms. I try not to groan or yawn, weary of the sleeping man on my right.

The beautiful, (currently) blonde man whose angel-like features were even more alluring in the tranquility of sleep. His back on the bed and one chiseled arm resting above his head on the pillow, bare chest and shoulders peeking out from under the blankets. The sight never ceased to take my breath away.

I was hoping you could talk about bellarke :) just anything, everything about them! What do you love about them? Where do you see the show going with bellarke in s4? Favorite bellarke moments? How unbelievably refreshing is it to see a lead, filipino male in a relationship with a white besexual woman, when has that EVER happened!

Hey, thanks for your ask! So I’ve been thinking about this for about a week, because I could probably write a thesis on everything I love about Bellarke. Even now, I’m not really happy with this answer because I feel it only scratches the surface; I suppose you could call it the very abridged version of my many, many thoughts and feelings on their relationship.

Anyway. What do I love about them? I can summarize it as:

They’re the Head and Heart. Clarke is analytical. She’s a strategist. She works on a bigger, long-term scale. She cares for her people by thinking about their long-term needs and their big problems. In contrast, Bellamy is an emotional thinker. He’s reactionary and he thinks on the smaller, immediate scale, caring for his people in the same way. For example, Bellamy is the person who takes time to ask the people around him if they are ok whenever they have a difficult or traumatic experience. (I think @abazethe100 put together a gifset of all the times Bellamy has asked people if they are ok, but I could be mistaken.) In contrast, Clarke is usually too busy moving onto the next stage of whatever plan she is implementing. Of course, the primary exception to this is her constant checking on Bellamy in season 3B.

Overall, I just love the Head and Heart concept: a perfect balance between two people, where each partner brings strengths to the relationship while having their own weaknesses covered. Bellamy and Clarke teach each other and learn from each other. They complement and complete each other. As far as a relationship goes, it’s my ideal.

On top of this (or maybe because of it) Bellamy and Clarke have this intense, instinctive bond. It was there from the moment they began to work together and it’s only intensified over time. That bond is built on a number of important elements, which are essential for a strong, loving, and enduring relationship:

1. They believe in each other.

I love this parallel between Clarke’s faith in Bellamy when he was in Mt. Weather and Bellamy’s faith in Clarke when she wanted to enter the CoL.

2. They sacrifice for each other.

In the first gif, Clarke essentially offers her life for Bellamy’s. In the second, we see Bellamy take on the burden of the genocide at Mt. Weather purely so that Clarke doesn’t have to bear it alone. Remember, this is the guy who begged Clarke to find a plan that didn’t involve them killing everyone in Mt. Weather, especially the children. He willingly took on responsibility for those deaths in order to share Clarke’s burden; that’s sacrifice, and he most definitely suffered for it afterwards.

Since you’ve asked about this as well, one of my favourite Bellarke moments is actually when they pulled the lever in 2x16. Maybe it’s because I’m quite similar in personality to Clarke, and my ideal partner is someone who supports my choices and helps carry my burdens. Based on my own experience, I really feel that Bellamy is the partner she needs. Also, the decision to pull the lever shows one of the great strengths of the Head and Heart relationship, i.e., its power when both partners are in agreement. Both Bellamy and Clarke knew that pulling the lever was the only decision they could make that would save their people; the Head and Heart were in alignment and they made their choice “together.”

3. They’re honest with each other, in the sense that they’re not afraid to call each other out on their mistakes and bad decisions.

Another favourite Bellarke moment. There was a level of raw emotion in this interaction that showed the stark honesty between them. Also, this argument shows the other side of the Head and Heart relationship, i.e., its strength when both sides disagree. That is, the Head can see the mistakes the Heart makes, and vice versa.

The Head knew that the Heart had made an emotion-fueled decision to follow Pike and that this was a mistake. In turn, the Heart knew instinctively that letting the bomb drop on TonDC and trusting Lexa were poor decisions, even though the Head had tried to rationalize these choices. I love that both Bellamy and Clarke could see each other’s mistakes, even though they were blind to their own.

4. They forgive each other and, in doing so, work to forgive themselves.

5. They’re vulnerable with each other. In fact, Bellamy only shows true vulnerability with Clarke. IMO, Clarke only shows this vulnerability with Abby and Bellamy.

6. They protect each other.

So, those are a few of the main reasons why I think Bellarke is such a great relationship. Of course, there are many, many more.

9. Yoonseok // Things you said when I was crying

request for @sailorrm *reposted after realizing some edits i wanted to make

based off of this gifset and this interaction Hoseok had with Jin  that made me think Hoseok may be the jealous type! [it’s a happy ending though, guys, i promise ;) ]

It’s 2AM and Hoseok has been sitting alone on the dance studio floor for the last twenty minutes.

He’s exhausted, sweat dripping down his neck as he plays with his shoelaces and tries not to think too hard about all of the things that are bothering him.  Usually dancing helps; usually he can forget himself in blaring music and letting his body flow beat after beat.  He’ll sweat out his worries and shower them off when he’s back at the dorm, pass out asleep with a blank mind for the time being.  But tonight, it’s not working.  Nothing seems to be working.

He looks at himself in the wide mirror; wonders if he did something wrong along the way, if he’s maybe gotten uglier or more annoying.  Because there has to be a reason why Yoongi’s seemed to move on.  He traces the remnants of Yoongi’s mouth below his collarbone, the bitemark perfectly hidden by his t-shirt, and remembers how happy Yoongi had been earlier talking about Seokjin.  He’s Yoongi’s “perfect roommate” after all; no one more compatible than Seokjin and Yoongi.

Hoseok pulls his shirt back up to hide the mark. Maybe he’s stupid to believe that Yoongi had ever loved him.  It’s not like they’ve been fucking for the last year or anything.  It’s not like they’ve fucked on every single surface of Norwegian and Finnish hotel rooms; mouths on each other’s skin each time they had a second to themselves during vacation. He exhales slowly to himself.  Maybe it didn’t mean anything at all.

He’s not sure what time it is when the door slowly swings open, Yoongi leaning into the room with half-closed eyes and a beanie thrown over his head.  He looks almost as exhausted as Hoseok.

Hoseok wishes he’d just leave.

“We’re the last ones here if you wanna head out with me…I’ve been trying to get through these lyrics for the last hour, and— Are you crying?”

“Huh?”  Hoseok wipes at his cheeks. They’re wet.

Oh. When did that happen?

Yoongi steps into the room before Hoseok can say anything else, lips pressed tightly together and eyebrows furrowed.  He crouches down so they’re on the same level.

“Are you hurt? Can you walk? Should I call someone? What’d you do—”

“Nothing,” Hoseok coughs out, voice strained.  “I’m fine.  I’m just,” he sighs, “taking a break.”

“You’re not fine, you’re mouth is doing that thing.”  He makes an upside-down triangle gesture with his index finger, sitting down cross-legged beside him. “You wanna talk about it?”

Hoseok smiles sadly. “Not really. Go get some sleep.  Jin hyung’s probably waiting for you.”

“Waiting for me?”  Yoongi laughs.  “Why would he be…”  He trails off, the beginnings of a smirk on his face.  “Are you jealous, Hobi?”

Hoseok shrugs. “I just don’t know why you need me if you’ve found ‘happiness’ with him or whatever.”

“You’re totally jealous.”  He sounds half-amused and half in disbelief.  “You seriously think I’ve replaced you with him or something?  After this long? I let you eat my ass for Godsake, Hoseok-ah.”

“How am I supposed to know if you never tell me anything?” Hoseok bites back.

Yoongi pauses, blinking up at him like he can’t believe Hoseok’s finally said what they’ve both been avoiding for so long.  It’s not exactly a secret that their relationship’s been built off drunken laughter and moaning into each other’s shoulders.  And between that and schedules, it hardly leaves any time to talk about anything serious.  Hoseok just wants to know that this hasn’t all been in his head.

“You know,”  Yoongi starts off, reaching for Hoseok’s hands.

Hoseok lets him take them because he’s weak. He’s so weak for Yoongi, hands going limp in his palms.

“I’m not really good with words unless I’m writing them down first, but….”  He brings his fingers up to his mouth, kissing each knuckle like something sweet and delicate.  “Jung Hoseok,” he says.

Hoseok’s chest burns.

“I’m in love with you…” He moves his mouth to Hoseok’s other hand.  “And everything about you…”  He kisses his wrist. “And I have been for a long time.”

“Yoongi,” he swallows, throat raw.  His eyelashes feel wet and he think he may have started crying again.  He must look pathetic.

“I don’t want anyone else.”  Yoongi stops kissing his hands to hold them up against his cheek.  “So stop crying, okay?”

Hoseok doesn’t say anything, can’t say anything, so Yoongi says it again.  “Okay?”  He wipes at a tear clinging to his bottom eyelash.  “Please?”

He finally nods, feeling overwhelmed and a little stupid for ever doubting Yoongi.  He places his hands on either side of his face and kisses him hard to try and make up for it; for every second he spent thinking Yoongi didn’t love him back.  Yoongi places his hands gently on his waist as he’s pushed onto the floor, Hoseok crawling on top of him and mouthing at his jaw.

“I love you,” he says, attaching their lips again. “I love you.”

Yoongi trails his fingers softly up and down Hoseok’s side.  “I know.”  He kisses back slower, quieter.  “Seok-seok,” he breathes against his lips.  “Let’s go home.”

Hoseok smiles down at him, light and easy for the first time in a while.  “Yeah, let’s go home.”

You know what it bothers me of all this mess is that ET talked positive about bellarke in the past, what she said last weak about romantic right now(there's a future)and now what,i cant understand how people get dismised a relationship like bellarke really at least Bob understand and its nice to us,and the other hand that gives the antis strenght to feed it and grow attacking saying that all the cast writers hate bellarke, when we saw that its not true, what i dont understand is why we still here.

I hear you, nonny. What Eliza said was disrespectful and unprofessional - there’s no way around that. (Please don’t send her hate, though, guys! Hate is never okay!) And you’re right - Eliza has talked positive of Bellarke in the past, and just because she hasn’t said the nicest things about it lately, I don’t think it’s necessary to put too much stock into it. And a few negatively interpreted comments from one person shouldn’t be what makes you quit this show, just when we’re getting everything that we’ve waited for.

I still have hope and faith in my ship - do you?

My personal interpretation of what Eliza said is this: she’s not just sick of Bellarke, she’s sick of being just a love interest and nothing more. Like you said, she used to say positive things about it, but I think she’s just tired now. The difference with Bellarke and C/exa is that she was not afforded the liberty of saying whatever she wants about C/exa, because she has to appear positive about everything the writers have chosen to do on the show. Bellarke hasn’t happened (yet!) and, of course, there isn’t a huge mob of crazy shippers that have chased her colleagues off of Twitter in the Bellarke fandom, so she doesn’t have to be quite as careful about her feelings coming out about ships when she is talking about Bellarke as she has to be about C/exa. Remember that gifset where she rolled her eyes and said she was sick of staring at that stupid chip every episode? That’s about as shady as Eliza is allowed to get about C/exa right now (and probably ever).

And, let’s face it: Eliza seems to have enjoyed C/exa while it lasted. She’s a shipper. I would say that it’s probably better (and more professional) to remain neutral as an actor when it comes to shipping, but in this case I believe Eliza DOES have a preference. It’s unfortunate that she’s been so blatant about it - both for her, the show, and it’s fans - and, generally, actors really aren’t supposed to, but she IS entitled to her own opinion.

The problem is, actors usually are supposed to keep opinions like that to themselves instead of revealing them in interviews. That’s where I believe Eliza went wrong. She was unable to hold up her neutral facade, and that was her mistake. She came off as being rude and mocking towards the fans, while also invalidating our ship at the same time. Was that her intention? Probably not, but she still made a mistake.

It’s important to remember that Eliza has been wrong about things she has said in regards the the show, and ships, in the past. This time last year, she said she didn’t think Clarke would be able to forgive L.exa and if they did, she didn’t think they could pursue a romance after her betrayal - she was wrong. For the past months she’s been saying that she doesn’t think Clarke will be able to find love again - she owned up to that mistake yesterday and corrected herself (as did Jason). She was wrong then, too. I wonder why she would make a mistake like that? Because it’s her opinion, and she had next to no prior knowledge on Season 4 at that point. I bet you anything that someone higher up told her she needs to stop saying that, because it’s just not true. Clarke will love again.

Eliza even admitted that she knows barely anything about Season 4. She hasn’t even read the premiere yet. Jason doesn’t seem to be giving the cast much information, most likely because he didn’t want there to be many spoilers at the cons. He hasn’t told the actors much yet because he doesn’t need to. They still haven’t started filming - best to wait until he doesn’t have to worry about accidental spoilers, anyway. Eliza probably doesn’t know anything about her character’s romance yet, because they just haven’t told her and I don’t get the feeling that she really cares all that much about that aspect of her character so it’s not like she’s asking about it. And we already know that Eliza only talks about what has happened or is happening currently in the text. Bellarke is subtext right now - therefore, she will not talk about it.

Literally everything Eliza has said about Bellarke has been opinion, not fact. Nothing in the narrative matches up with her opinions. Bob’s interviews don’t even match up with her opinions. Many of the cast is positive towards Bellarke (MANY - someone has a masterpost). Literally no one, not even Jason, except Eliza has done anything even close to shutting down Bellarke. Jason even went so far as to make it clear that Clarke is bisexual, therefore she can be with either a man or a woman (and she WILL, according to him). Eliza is entitled to her opinion, yes, but that doesn’t make it fact and, at the end of the day, she has zero control over the story. This is Jason’s story, and it’s evident that his story in the past three seasons include Bellarke.

Because some people have brought it up, it’s true that the question wasn’t about romantic Bellarke, but Eliza chose to bring up the romantic aspect anyway. Don’t put too much stock into that, either. I think it’s gotten to the point that she assumes all questions regarding Bellamy and Clarke have to do with romance. It was a wrong assumption of her, one that I hope she realizes now, but that’s my interpretation of what happened. I don’t think she was looking for every opportunity to slam us.

There’s still lots of reasons to continue to ship Bellarke. As I said, the narrative backs it up, Jason still backs it up, Bob backs it up. Eliza is the only one who doesn’t. But one person out of many doesn’t mean anything, not when they have no control over the script. This interview doesn’t change anything - it isn’t anything we haven’t heard before. She’s been saying these things since even before Season 3, and we still got a shitload of more reasons to suggest that Bellarke is happening in 3B. Her opinion didn’t change the narrative then - it doesn’t now, either.

If you ask me, I think it says a fair bit that The 100 writers almost immediately followed up that video of her saying “Bellarke shit” with “she said ship”. Obviously she didn’t say “ship” but clearly the writers weren’t particular happy with that particular quote. Which means that they do still care about our fandom. Hmmm … I wonder why?

In any case, I hope that this was a learning experience for both Eliza as well as the rest of the cast and crew. It’s always best to remain neutral on sensitive fandom matters to remain professional.

Eliza was unable to do that yesterday, and it’s a shame. But it doesn’t mean that Bellarke’s future is gone - it’s just beginning. So don’t give up now!

Bellarke is coming. Believe it.

Olicity in 3x12

The Good

Oliver: Sorry that I didn’t come by sooner. I just wanted to check in on Thea. It’s ok. I’m ok.

Diggle: Merlyn told us you were killed.

Oliver: I was close. And I’m sorry that I didn’t reach out sooner. I wasn’t exactly in a…cell service area.

I love how Oliver’s looking right at her when he enters the room, when he addresses them, and as she runs to him. It’s like his words are meant for her, even though he’s talking to all of them. He’s also using his special “Felicity voice.” I love how she throws herself at him, how he catches her and flinches a bit, grunting because he’s still hurt, but he doesn’t pull away. Instead he bends over her, hugging her back, his hand on the back of her neck. His voice is so SOFT and reassuring when he talks to her. “It’s okay. I’m okay.” I LOVE THAT. I also get the feeling (and I could be wrong) that the first whispered line was improvised by Amell, because he says is so quietly you can barely hear it.

I love how he’s smiling over her shoulder, how he strokes her neck slightly. I love that he waits for her to pull away first, that she moves her hands to his shoulders and doesn’t let go, like she’s afraid he’ll disappear again if she does. I love how she looks him up and down to reassure herself that he’s really there, that it’s not just a dream (because she’s probably had this dream many times since he “died”). I love how he apologizes for not calling, and how he looks right at her when he says it. Once again, his words are meant for her, even if he speaks them to everyone. I love how he rests his hand on her shoulder: to comfort her, to reassure her that he’s there, to apologize for letting her think he was dead.

And of course there’s the part where she rests her hand on top of his for a second before he pulls away, because she just NEEDS to touch him. The look on her face when he pulls away, too. Her mouth open in shock and awe. She can’t believe he’s really alive, but she’s so damn HAPPY that he is. I just love the way this scene is acted. The subtleties, the nuances of how the lines are delivered, and the gentle touches that the two of them add to it. This scene is a good example of why I love this ship so damn much.

The Bad

Tatsu: There are many forms of death. To defeat a man like this Ra’s Al Ghul, you must be willing, not just to die, but to live knowing what you had to sacrifice in order to beat him.

Oliver: And what will that be?

Tatsu: I don’t know. That is what you will have to discover, but it will be whatever you hold most precious.

I think it’s important that Tatsu’s advice – which ends up NOT helping Oliver – is the exact opposite of Felicity’s advice in 3x23, which DOES help him. Tatsu tells Oliver he must be willing to die and to sacrifice what he holds most precious. When he takes her advice, he ends up working with Malcolm Merlyn, becoming Al Sah-him, losing his friendship with Diggle, and almost losing his life and his future on that plane with Ra’s.

Felicity’s advice is the direct opposite of Tatsu’s: he needs to fight to LIVE, not to die. And when Oliver follows HER advice, he succeeds.

I think it’s Tatsu’s advice (however well intentioned it was) that ends up hurting Oliver more than anything, and I think that’s the point. Tatsu isn’t giving Oliver advice that’s good for HIM, because she’s giving him advice that’s colored by what’s happened between her and Maseo. She’s already lost her husband and son, and so she’s wandering alone and in pain. Her advice is to give up what he holds precious because she’s already lost what SHE holds precious. SHE has nothing to fight for anymore; no reason to fight to live. She’s giving him advice based on her own experiences, and that means it’s not necessarily good advice for OLIVER. He takes her words to heart, and he sacrifices himself and his future with Felicity and his friendship with Diggle, but in the end he can’t defeat Ra’s that way. It’s only when Felicity tells him to HOLD ON TO SOMETHING instead of sacrificing himself and his happiness that he is able to defeat Ra’s.

Tatsu tells him to let go of what he holds dear because she’s so far gone herself. Felicity tells him to HOLD ON instead. Tatsu essentially tells him to fight to die, but Felicity tells him to fight to LIVE. What Tatsu has to say is not what OLIVER needs to hear, because she doesn’t know him like Felicity does. Oliver respects and trusts Tatsu, and so when he gets home he takes her advice and ends up actually pushing people away because of it. She also tells him that only the student has hope of defeating the master, and it’s more advice he takes to his own detriment. Now if he’d just asked Felicity what SHE thought, he could have avoided all of this. But this is Oliver Queen we’re talking about, and god knows he can be a bit…dense sometimes.

Diggle: Well, that’s the thing. Once we let the ends justify the means, that’s just the first step.

Merlyn: Towards what?

Diggle: Becoming you.

This line is SO IMPORTANT, because what does Oliver do as soon as he gets home? He agrees to work with Merlyn: to let the ends (defeating Ra’s) justify the means (working with the Devil). Digg’s got it right, but Oliver? Not so much. And I think that’s what pisses Felicity off the most. Part of the reason she’s mad at Laurel and Roy’s suggestion of working with Merlyn is because she hates him for what he’s done to the people she cares for, but a part of her really rejects working with Merlyn because she thinks Oliver would never agree to it. As much as she believes that Oliver’s gone, she also doesn’t want to taint his memory, or do something that goes against what he stood for. Unfortunately, she ends up being WRONG about what Oliver’s willing to do, and the fact that she stood there and defended him and hours later he comes back and proves her wrong must really frustrate her. It doesn’t just bruise her ego because he proved her wrong, but it also breaks her heart, because she never imagined Oliver would be willing to let the ends justify the means – to work with the Devil in order to defeat The Demon.

Oliver: I need to know how to defeat Ra’s; Merlyn has the knowledge.

Felicity: Merlyn is a monster. You’re in this situation, Thea is in this situation because of him.

Oliver: Felicity—

Felicity: No. Just a few hours ago, I stood right here, and I swore that there was no way that you would ever agree to work with Malcolm Merlyn, not ever. I guess I was wrong about everything. I need some air. I’m glad you’re not dead.

“I guess I was wrong about everything.” This isn’t just her being upset that he’s working with Merlyn when she thought he was better than that. This is about her thinking that if Oliver ever came back he’d do things differently. That he’d stop pushing her away. That he’d start fighting for a life, and for a future, and for her. But he comes back, and not only has nothing changed but things have actually gotten WORSE. Working with Meryln doesn’t just upset her because Merlyn’s the Devil. Oliver’s also working with the man who’s responsible for hurting all the women Oliver claims to love, and what if she’s next? Oliver’s willing to work with the man who’s hurt everyone he loves, letting the ends justify the means, and in doing so she’s afraid he’ll become more like Merlyn, and it terrifies her. He almost died, and instead of realizing he wants to fight for life because he almost lost her, he’s sabotaging himself and their relationship. He’s still pushing her away. The only difference is now he’s doing it HARDER. The “I’m glad you’re not dead” line hurts to hear, because the way she says it honestly sounds like a slap in the face.

The Ugly

Felicity: Before you left, the last thing you said to me… was that you loved me. Now you’re back, and the first thing you tell me is that you are working with the man who turned your sister, a woman you’re supposed to love, into a killer, who killed a woman you used to love.

Oliver’s willing to let the ends justify the means. He’s willing to sacrifice his soul to defeat Ra’s. Instead of fighting to live, he’s fighting to die. Instead of choosing HER, he’s pushing her away. Oliver’s choosing to work with the man who’s responsible for the deaths and ruined lives of so many people that he cares for. And what’s to stop Felcity from being the next person Oliver Queen loves that gets hurt by Merlyn? You can’t blame her for being upset, but that doesn’t make looking at Oliver’s face hurt any damn less.

And just because I can’t end it on such a sad note, please check out this crack gifset by cozyforjate because it made me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry about this ending.

Smoke billowed from the external vents, the alley thickly covered in the stuff as the police surrounded the area.

Jamie Fraser stood, his hat tipped forward, a fresh cigarette hanging from his lips as he surveyed the scene. A dense black had since coated the crime scene, night having fallen during the main portion of their investigation.

Frank Randall’s body had been moved, the Sergeant had said, dragged over three blocks south at least. Not just a regular homicide then, one certainly meant to frame an innocent party.

“Who are the main suspects?” He barked, his detectives scurrying to gather together their findings, eager to please their superior.

“A few work colleagues, sir, but nothing that might warrant murder. The wife; though it seems she has an alibi…for the moment.”

Jamie’s head rose at the mention of a wife. He knew Randall by word of mouth, of course, but he hadn’t known the man to be married.

“A recent thing?”

“No, sir, apparently not. Married some time it seems, but living apart until her sudden return. She’s quite something, from what I can tell.”

“I bet.” He scoffed, “We’d better get her into the station then, hadn’t we, just in case.“

“Yes Sir!” The young detective, Angus, replied, dashing off.

Cold nipped at his ears as he pulled his collar up. Randall was a notorious historian, his collect rivalled even The Met in value. Enough of an incentive to have him killed, he pondered, stubbing the cigarette out against the sodden blacktop before turning back towards his unmarked squad-car.

He obviously needed to meet this mystery wife.

The station downtown was full, prostitutes and drunks littered the cells in various states of undress, all protesting their innocence. Jamie ignored them all, he’d no need of distractions this evening, not with one Claire Beauchamp-Randall awaiting him.

Entering the holding cell he balked at her height. Randall hadn’t looked that tall, not tall enough to stand beside the statuesque beauty who stood before him. She had her back to him, her head twisted to the side as she clicked the heel of her shoes against the solid concrete floor, impatient to be away no doubt.

"I believe I’ve answered all of your questions, detective. What else could you possibly want from me?” Her subtle Irish lilt shocked him, hidden behind an educated British accent, she softened the last few syllables as was obviously dictated by those of her class.

“Aye, ye have, but I have more, if ye would be so kind, Mrs Randall.”

“A Scot. That’s new, I expected a Yank.” She turned fully to face him now. Her lips, coated in a vibrant red, tilted at the corners to form a partial smile.

“I dinna think much would shock ye, mistress.”

Placing her fur coat on the interview table, she carefully pulled out the hard plastic chair, scraping the metal legs across the floor in a measured gesture. Her eyes never left his, a pungent whisky colour, their depths held him hostage as she flipped her dark curls away.

Sitting, she crossed her legs, the light cream of her thigh exposing itself as she did so. His eyes flicked down for only a moment but she caught him looking.

Her smile broadened.

“I couldn’t possibly have done it, detective…” Her pause hovered in the air between them as Jamie stepped forward. Clenching his hands over the inspectors chair back, he let the silence linger, the cushioned rubber squishing under his fingers, making a very slight but irritating squeal.

Two can play that game, he thought, his eyebrow raising in a challenge.

Well met, she returned, unconsciously, nodding her head only the once.

“It’s Fraser, madam. Detective -Inspector- James Fraser. And, no, it seems ye couldna have done it. But I need to refresh my investigation, aye? I need to check all possible and *viable* motives. Ye, even wi’ yer alibi, have a motive, do you no’?”

He passed her a cigarette, holding his lighter to the end as she sucked in a breath, the tip springing to life in vibrant orange flashes as she inhaled and then exhaled the pungent smoke.

She licked her lips, cigarette dangling between her fingers, hovering in the space between them. Her heel tapped a steady rhythm against the chair leg, the quiet echo of its metallic clink rung in Jamie’s ears as she eyed him up and down.

“I suppose I do, yes.”

“So ye see my predicament? I canna let this go wi'out thorough –investigation.” Perching himself on his own chair, he lit his own cigarette, slowly allowing the small room to fill with the joint haze of their addiction.

“I certainly do, Detective *Fraser*”

The way she said his name sent shivers down his spine, she drew out each letter, letting her teeth draw in her lips, gently, as she finished. Coquettish and sly, she was reeling him in. Hook, line and sinker.

“But, as I have said previously, I was in town to rendezvous with Franklin for only a matter of hours. It was merely a horrid twist of fate that he ended up –well, that he met his end whilst I should be *in his company*, as it were.” Stubbing the butt out in the ashtray provided, Mrs Randall let her hand linger on the polished wooden tabletop, her perfectly manicured nails glinting under the harsh interview-room bulb. “At the time of his –demise– I was in a meeting with my accountant, as you *ken weel*.”

His head snapped up, attention drawn away from the drumming of her nails, at the sound of her mimicking his accent.

“Dinna play smart, Mrs Randall…”

“Claire; if you please, detective. I haven’t been ‘Mrs Randall’ in some time.”

“Divorced?” Perplexed, he questioned her statement. Nothing in his notes had suggested a permanent separation.

“No, of course not. Divorce is an ugly word, Detective Fraser, a woman of my *position* would never allow for such a thing.” She stood, draping her coat over her arm as she sauntered, her hips swaying gracefully, towards the closed door. “Frank simply wasn’t the committed type. When this became obvious to me, I left him. Hence why we’ve been living apart. He called me here. He wished to discuss our *failed* marriage, and I came only to tell him, to his face, that it was not to be. Now, if you have anymore to say I suggest you contact my lawyer.”

And with that she was gone, the door shut solidly behind her, only the clacking of her heels as she made her way down the corridor and the light scent of her perfume remained.

Jamie shook himself off.

Oh; she was good. Very clever, and beautiful to boot.

There was no evidence to prove she’d offed Frank Randall, but neither was he convinced of her innocence.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and still the investigation hobbled on. No new witnesses. No new evidence. Nothing. Nobody had seen a thing.

Jamie grew impatient; harangued by his superiors, abandoned by his staff, he continued to hit roadblocks. It should have been a simple open and shut case, he argued, mostly with himself. Forensics had turned up nothing. No fingerprints, no significant findings of any sort. A logistical nightmare.

His dreams became plagued by ghosts, haunted by the spectre of this unsolved crime.

Draining the last of his precious whisky, he swirled the remaining droplets in the bottom of his tumbler, the specs of dark umber mocking him.

Her eyes, that was what he saw. Claire.

Slamming the glass against his countertop, he grabbed his mac and rushed into the heavy autumn downpour, convinced that she held the answers. She *must* hold them, he muttered angrily. Sharp as a tac, his instincts had never guided him wrong before, and the alarms bells at the memory of her drove him to believe that she knew more than she’d previously let on.

The light shone brightly from her apartment, a beacon on the face of the city. The Oxford flats were relatively new, the penthouse suite sitting neatly only twenty-odd floors up. High enough away to loose the street noise, but close enough to remind the people below of their existence.

Jamie shook the droplets of rain from his coat as he tipped the doorman. The crisp hundred dollar bill spoke volumes to the fellow, –I’m not here, and never was–, it said.

Tentatively, he knocked, the harsh reverberation of it flooding the empty hall.

He smelt the telltale whiff of her perfume before the door clicked open, her head popping nervously around the crack.

Taken aback by the drastic change in her demeanour, Jamie took a step backwards, his brows drawing together in confusion as he glanced at her, as much of her as he could physically see.

“Oh, detective, it’s you. What can I do for you?” She was polite, but there was an undercurrent that betrayed her, her tone wavered as she spoke and Jamie didn’t like the chill it gave him.

“Is something wrong, Mrs R– I mean, Claire?”

Her fingers, which were curled around the doorframe, went from relaxed to tense in a moment, her feet shuffled against the thick carpet that lined her hallway and she blinked rapidly.

Something, Jamie re-told himself, was definitely amiss.

End of Part One.

oh boy, do I have a lot of Iron Bull feelings today

I think he’s the one of, if not the most well written character in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Let’s get that out of the way.

No, I seriously think he is, and it’s because you only need to know two things about him to completely understand his character, and his motivations throughout the entire story.

And my case on that is under the cut because this is going to be long

So, I rewatched Hibike! Euphonium yesterday...

Apparently season 2 is officially slated for fall and it just kind of felt like the right time for a rewatch. I kind of like that I can watch the whole thing in a day. I also kind of want more. And yet I’m also kind of afraid to get more given what I’ve heard about the novel version.

I like a lot of things about the anime. And it feels weird sometimes. Because I know that if you had tried to sell me on, “Oh, it’s a slice of life anime about a bunch of band kids…” I would have tilted my head and asked why in the hell you were recommending it to me. I wasn’t a band kid. Most of my favorite shows are about magic and mythos. I would reject it out of hand. And yet I’m absolutely enamored with this show. I watch it and I feel happy inside. It’s got a whole different kind of magic to it. It really gives me pause about maybe being too quick to reject things out of hand.

This time I was able to watch a version that had subs for the OP and ED songs and I found myself musing over the fact that I didn’t realize they were telling me at the end of each episode that they were going to steal my heart. They really did though. The characters, the musical score, the atmosphere, the art style, the drama…it’s all just so charming.

I love all four of the core girls. I like basically everybody on the show. It’s easy for me to understand Reina, Kumiko’s a precious dork, Midori’s passion is infectious, my heart goes out to Hazuki, Asuka’s fantastic and fun, I respect Kaori, watching Natsuki’s development is interesting, Gotou and Riko are sweet, Haruka’s struggles with the leadership role are relatable…hell, I even like Shuuichi. The show has a lot of interesting characters and interpersonal dynamics. And it’s such a character-driven story. By the end of it, I’m tearing up at their successes and failures, at the idea of how far they’ve come. There’s a lot to like about this show.

But I can’t deny that these two gaybies are my favorite part. It was gifsets of episode 8 that made me give this anime a shot in the first place. I watched it through a certain lens, but the romance between these two seems obvious. And like, I’ve shipped a lot of ships where I’ve said they seem obviously romantic, but these two are the most obviously romantic of all. I’m completely incapable of seeing them as anything other than romantic. I can’t look at them and see them as simply gal pals. I’ve got canon ships that I could sooner believe as just friends than these two. If the story of Kumiko and Reina isn’t supposed to be a romantic love story, then they’re telling it wrong.

Is that harsh? Maybe. Have I got my head up my ass? Probably. Will they be endgame? It looks doubtful.

But that’s how I see them and I can’t unsee it.

Apparently the novel pairs Kumiko with Shuuichi. I’m hoping against hope that the anime has a lot of creative wiggle-room in their adaptation, because that’s going to be incredibly disappointing if they go down that road. I like Shuuichi, but I just can’t see him and Kumiko together. And not only because it would be a waste of Reimiko’s* potential. There just hasn’t been enough substance between Kumiko and Shuuichi on-screen for me to buy into the idea of them together.

(*Apparently KumiRei has become the name in the time since I last checked the tags; that’s gonna take some getting to used to.)

I feel like there’s a flipside to heteronormativity. Obviously it leads to a certain blindness toward things that are not straight, but it also seems to lead to lazy writing of het couples. Because romance is so easily assumed between boys and girls, writers will cut corners in their straight ships. “Chemistry? Build-up? Substance? No, no, no. He was a boy and she was a girl. Can I make it any more obvious? That’s all we need.” And because audience’s just accept heterosexuality, you can just have another character say that these two have chemistry, without actually demonstrating that chemistry on-screen. You can just throw in a line about them being childhood friends instead of actually working on developing a relationship and showing how these characters get to know each other better over time.

I’ve seen the quote on a dozen gifsets, but I forget the source: “Friendships between women are often the deepest and most profound love stories.” (Google says it’s by Emily Rapp.)

If writers would put the kind of time and effort into their het romances that they put into their F/F gal pals, maybe I’d like more straight ships. If Kumiko was, in every episode, trying to talk to Shuuichi, thinking about Shuuichi, worrying about what Shuuichi thinks of her, telling Shuuichi not to give up, standing up for Shuuichi, hiking with Shuuichi, sympathizing with Shuuichi, literally confessing her love to Shuuichi, letting Shuuichi touch her lips…then maybe I’d warm up to the idea of them as a couple.

But she doesn’t do those things with Shuuichi. There’s very little at all shown between them. There are a couple of minor moments I noticed on second viewing that I could conceivably squint at and see romantic subtext, but nothing substantial in any way. I see them as platonic bros at most. (On the other hand, I’d really be here for Shuuichi eventually realizing how great Hazuki is and falling for her, but that’s a whole other digression.)

I’m getting pretty hyped for H!E season 2. I hope North American and international audiences will be able to watch the recap movie sometime soon. I love this show for a lot of things and I want more of it.

Yet still, my optimism is heavily tempered by the novel spoilers. I really, really hope that the anime is willing and able to do something different. I can live with it if Reimiko KumiRei just keep doing what they’re doing and never “officially” go canon. But Kumiko x Shuuichi is just not something I can get behind. I’d respect the story more for ending with Kumiko single than ending with Kumiko and Shuuichi. I’d like to say I’d stop watching the show if they go there, but I probably won’t. However, I definitely would stop supporting the official release.

This show is one that really takes over my mind in a lot of ways. I love that in my entertainment. My number one hope for S2 is that it continues to engage and charm me, whatever form that may take. And KumiRei would be the best form of that for me.

I’ve been listening to the OST, but for some reason the bit that keeps getting stuck in my head is Asuka saying, “Come on, baby, Con-bass-chan!”

This show makes me smile and I hope it always does.

Can we just be clear on something?

This entire rucaya situation has never been about Lucas not liking Maya.

I repeat. This entire situation has never been about Lucas not being romantically interested in Maya.

I see a lot of rilucas shippers and others going around insisting that Lucas “obviously” doesn’t like Maya “that way” and that Maya realizing this will be the end of the Rucaya triangle, mainly because Lucas has never verbally said that he likes her (because dialogue from these kids’ mouths is the only thing that matters? Right…) Anyways, I see this argument a lot, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, Lucas hasn’t verbally said, “I really like you, Maya”, but he’s said it a hundred thousand times in so many other ways.

Now, the most obvious of all of these ways is that he almost kissed her. Lucas “I never do anything” Friar almost kissed Maya…completely of his own volition. He almost had his “moment”, which we know is very important to the character, with Maya. I mean, I don’t know how much more obvious you can get about where Lucas’ feelings stand than this. The minute Riley leaves him alone with Maya and Maya clarifies why Riley’s calling him brother, he’s got his hands on Maya’s face, his fingers running through her hair and down her cheeks, his face leaning in close to hers and he’s about .002 seconds away from kissing her before he blinks really hard to shake himself out of it. He’s basically sharing the most intense romantic moment any of the kids have had thus far with…Maya. If he didn’t like Maya, he wouldn’t have tried to kiss her. And before anyone starts in on the “well, he didn’t actually kiss her.” Yes, that’s true, but the intent was there and frankly, it seems pretty obvious why he held back. 1) He wasn’t totally clear on how she felt yet. 2) He didn’t want to potentially mess things up with Maya before they’d even started (and before he even really understood what was going on).  3) Dude was straight-up terrified. “Then, when I found out I was gonna have a chance with you, well… that was about the scariest moment of my life.” Maya, and by extension, Lucas’ feelings for her scare the shit out of him. Which says a lot, especially about the intensity of his feelings for her, even if he hasn’t quite figured that out yet.

Then there’s the fact that when Maya comes up to him on new Years Eve, a holiday where “romance is very much in play” and says, “Well, it’s one minute to midnight and I’m glad you’re standing here”, (after it’s emphasized multiple times in the episode that who you’re with at midnight is very important re: your romantic relationships), he gets this genuine smile on his face and says that that kind of makes up for everything. He’s happy that Maya’s chosen to be with him at midnight.

Arguably, it’s not even just that he’s happy. He’s thrilled and you can see his smile continue to grow even after the camera cuts back to Maya.

And if he didn’t like her too, he wouldn’t have reacted that way. Again, that’s not arguable. You don’t respond to someone you don’t like telling you that they like you by smiling back at them and getting googly eyed, followed by a vague admission of your own.

We also can’t emphasize enough how important it was that Lucas “got fired up” on Maya’s behalf in Creativity because he “wanted her to be happy.” That’s pretty much a hallmark of romance in Jacobs’ BMW universe. See this gifset for reference. Amy said it about Alan. Topanga said it about Cory. Shawn said it about Angela. And though it’s not in the gifset (I’m gonna need to fix that), Farkle said it about Riley and Lucas said it about Maya. If you don’t see the significance in that, I don’t know what to tell you. Frankly, the fact that Lucas got so passionate over Maya’s passion and talent says a lot about how he feels about her.

(Also, do I even need to tell you to peep that sustained eye contact where they’re basically ignoring that anyone else, INCLUDING LUCAS’ UNOFFICIAL THING, is in the room at that moment.)

Then there’s the fact that he’s been “putting thought into” their “little game” pretty much from day one. From the Ma’am, to the hat tipping, to the flower he gives her, to the “what do I seem like to you”, Lucas has been flirting with Maya for quite sometime. Before they or anyone else recognized what it was, they were flirting.

(And, can I just say that I will forever raise my eyebrows at the fact that Lucas went out of his way to wear a cowboy hat and bring a flower to the dance for…Maya…when him and Riley were the ones with a thing going on. Like…)

Now, there is a short period of time here (part of season 1) where Lucas cuts back on this sort of stuff. Consciously or not, he realizes Maya has stepped back and he gives up on whatever romantic feelings he’s had for her up to that point. He commits pretty fully to his Mr. Perfect/Prince Lucas ideal for Riley. Of course, it doesn’t last very long and by season 2, he’s right back at it, flirting with Maya, like in this scene from Rules.

If you don’t see the blatant flirting/physical tension going on here, I don’t know what to tell you, because, like the almost kiss, it’s another great example of what happens between Lucas and Maya when Riley isn’t between them. (And to clarify, I’m not insinuating that Maya & Lucas were intentionally flirting or doing things that could hurt or upset Riley. I don’t even think they were necessarily aware of what they were doing or what was happening between them, but it just kind of did anyways…because they like each other and they can’t help it.)

And of equal importance, it’s clear that he likes her simply by virtue of the rucaya “triangle thing” existing. Riley, Maya, and Lucas would not be in the situation they’re currently in if Lucas did not also have feelings for Maya. End of story. There is no reason for anyone to be putting themselves through the awkwardness of this (and the awkwardness to come in GMHS) if Lucas did not have feelings for both girls. If Maya knew or had an inkling that Lucas did not like her, does anyone honestly believe she’d let herself be part of a pity triangle? Do you think she’d really be going along with the whole notion of Lucas dating both of them? Do you really think that’d be the case?

(Also, just going to drop this gif here, because I think its super telling re: Rucaya and Lucas’ feelings. This is before Lucas even knows that Maya likes him and he’s over here doing this awkward back and forth eye contact thing with both Riley AND Maya. Hmmm…)

Honestly, the foundation for Lucas’ interest is even apparent the day they first meet. When Maya approaches Lucas on the subway and tells him how cute he is, he smiles at her and when she sits down next to him and tells him that she thinks they should hang out sometime, his smile gets even bigger.

Now, obviously, Maya has ulterior motives in her approach, but the fact is, in those first few seconds (before her speech devolves into a sad romantic tale that leaves Lucas completely confused), Lucas doesn’t know that. He doesn’t know where this is going. All he knows is that some girl has just approached him, called him cute, and then said that they should hang out, leaving him smiling like a doof. And that’s important. Because here Maya is, hardcore hitting on him and he’s completely open to it. Had there not been the Riley factor, it seems pretty obvious that Lucas would have taken Maya up on her offer. Of course, we wouldn’t have the show we do if that were the case and that’s not how things were supposed to play out here, but the fact is this: Before Lucas realizes where Maya’s speech is headed, he’s receptive. Lucas is receptive to Maya’s romantic advances from the day they first meet. And that’s just not the behavior of a guy who ain’t interested.

Honestly, this post just begins to scratch the surface, like just barely scratches the surface, on all the ways Lucas has shown us time and again that he does like Maya romantically, but this post is already ridiculously long and I’ve got shit to do, so got to cut myself off somewhere. haha
