believe in the doctor

CANON – I keep reading these posts where some viewers of Doctor Who do not believe that the Twelfth Doctor was “in love” with Clara Oswald. They feel that their relationship was simply a fatherly/daughterly affection.  But, nothing could be further from the truth.

In the show-runner’s own words – while appearing at the “Doctor Who: Anatomy of a Hit” panel in November of 2014 –, Steven Moffat said that Twelve had “absolute mono-maniacal devotion to Clara Oswald.  He absolutely loves her.”

He goes on to say that while Clara couldn’t find a way to say “I love you” to Danny Pink at the beginning of Dark Water and Danny Pink couldn’t find a way to say “I love you” to Clara in Death in Heaven, the cracked, old Caledonian gets it right.  He says it PERFECTLY.

It surprises him that he even has to say it. He just assumed that she knew.

Moffat still says that that one line of dialogue is the best line he’s ever written – for any show. Not the excellent soliloquy from The Rings of Akhaten, or the “sit down and talk” plea in The Zygon Inversion, nor any dialogue from his Sherlock series, but the simple declaration of love from the Twelfth Doctor to his tiny “teacher”.

So, if Moffat – the creator of Eleven, Clara and Twelve – says that it’s true, then that’s canon enough for me.

Mic drop!

There are few men alive who believe so completely in the human race, but the Doctor does - he believes in humanity, in days dedicated solely and exclusively to the celebration of love - he believes in carrot cake, and ball bearings! He loves a good ball bearing. There are so many good things about humanity, so many people who will choose to suffer or even choose to die so other people don’t have to. They’re this race who constantly, utterly amaze him and do it without thinking twice, and it’s hard to amaze someone whose entire life description is just space-time tourist. They’re not all people he can fall in love with entirely and completely, but there is something about each and every one of them that he can utterly adore.

Humans pull through. Humans stick together. Humans describe themselves as humane and it’s a bit egotistic, really - honestly - but look at them, look at what they can do! Look at them, reaching into the stars - not ‘cause they know that anyone’s out there, or because they think there’s anything to gain. Not because they know for sure that they’re not going to be blown off the face of their planet the minute someone spots them. Just because they can.

Imagine! Ha! Just because they can. That’s human. That’s amazing.

Do Not Go Gentle

“This is all a game to you, isn’t it? Well, it’s not for me. This is a real life or death situation,” Louis says, spitting the words at him. “And I just don’t think you’re cut out for it.”

For a moment, they stare at each other in complete silence. Harry can feel his blood thrumming between his ears, can see Louis glaring at him, feels red-hot anger. And then all he feels, oppressively and desperately, is lust.

Suddenly Louis is surging up to him to press his lips against Harry’s. Harry walks the two of them backwards, pressing Louis back against the door. Louis oomphs in surprise and brings his hands under Harry’s scrub top, scratching at his lower back.

“Lock — oh — lock the… fucking door,” Louis mutters.

When Harry Styles starts his first day as a surgical intern, he expects a lot of things: to treat patients, to observe a surgery, to feel a bit overwhelmed. What he definitely doesn’t expect, however, is that the handsome guy he kicked out of his bed this morning is also an intern.

A Grey’s Anatomy AU where tensions are high, Harry and Louis are hooking up in secret, and no one has time for love. Or do they?

twelve days of twelve – day six: twelve’s hair

“You call this a war? This funny little thing? This is not a war! I fought in a bigger war than you will ever know. I did worse things than you could ever imagine. And when I close my eyes… I hear more screams than anyone could ever be able to count! And do you know what you do with all that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight… till it burns your hand, and you say this… No one else will ever have to live like this! No one else will have to feel this pain! Not on my watch!
