beginnings podcast

i’ve been getting a lot of messages lately (and unsurprisingly, considering how unrepentantly i’ve been reblogging stuff from them) from followers asking me for podcast recommendations - and i love getting those so thank you, guys! - and i thought i’d make a masterpost of what i’ve both a) finished and b) enjoyed since i’ve started bingeing them.  and, as an extra added bonus, what has canonical lgbt+ representation (since i know what you guys are into [waggles eyebrows]).

1. the bright sessions

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is definitely the first podcast that i’ve fallen in love with as hard as my original gateway podcast: welcome to night vale.  it’s so well-written, the characters well-drawn, the premise fascinating - atypicals, or people with some sort of special ability, in therapy - and it’s such a positive story and experience that i can’t help but feel better on days i listen to it.  it really believes in humanity and that’s such a wonderful thing in this day and age.  plus, the voice acting is killer.

2. eos 10

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i don’t think it’s been officially confirmed that dr. dalias is, at the very least, bisexual (in fact, the official channels seem to be dancing around it, possibly so as not to spoil anything in the upcoming season), though it’s been hinted at plenty in story.  especially as i don’t know how else you can explain a supposedly “straight” male character getting called out on repeatedly thinking about a naked man during a group mind-link experience.  that aside, it is freaking hilarious.  the premise is doctors in space, one formerly drug-addicted doctor helping to stabilize a currently alcoholic one with amazing side characters including nurse jane johns and levi, a hypochondriac alien and deposed prince who seems to have a personal vendetta against wearing pants.  it’s well-acted, cleverly written and a freaking joy to listen too.  so funny and so smart, i can’t recommend it enough!

3. the penumbra podcast

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  so much queer representation it’s bananas.  this ask the creators got is actually pretty representative of their approach to the show, slyly funny and very gay.  our main character is a genderbending queer private investigator who’s lost his heart head over a sweet-smelling thief with a heart of gold and more aliases than jennifer garner, all set against a noir backdrop.  oh, and on mars.  yeah, you read all of that right.  there are a few awesome side stories as well, including a couple of horror ones (that have no effect on the main juno steel story line, so can be skipped - and the creators are VERY GOOD about warning what’s to come in the episode notes), as well as lesbian outlaws and a disabled knight.  there’s literally nothing not to love.  EXCEPT FOR HOW JUNO STEEL WON’T LET HIMSELF HAVE NICE THINGS.

4. the black tapes

hey, hi, if you’re into horror, suspense, creepery or demons, this is so very much for you.  the premise is that alex reagan, our host, begins a podcast to interview people with interesting professions.  she starts out with dr. richard strand, a paranormal investigator whose mission statement is to debunk all things paranormal.  he even has an institute that offers a one million dollar prize for proof of the paranormal, which he has never even come close to having to part with.  while alex is interviewing him, she comes across a handful of black vhs tapes: the only cases that strand hasn’t been able to definitively solve yet.  the technology to disprove these incidents simply hasn’t come far enough, in his opinion.  needless to say, she never moves on from dr. strand and the mystery of the black tapes.  each episode, alex investigates another of the black tapes and much later on realizes it’s possible that they’re all connected.  oh my god, i almost got chills just writing that, it’s so good, it’s so real, because dr. strand is such a good anchor to reality.  alex will occasionally lose her skeptic’s perspective; dr. strand does not.  and once alex starts experiencing intense insomnia, making you realize your narrator might not be so reliable?  things somehow manage to get even murkier.  i really, really adored this one.  it’s paranormal set in the most normal of normal worlds, only making it that much spookier.

5. wooden overcoats

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, if you’ve ever watched black books?  this is kind of like black books, aka one of my all-time favorite shows.  rudyard funn is just as incapable and universally disliked as bernard black, which was all well and good when the village of piffling vale (which is very nearly a town, you know!) only had one funeral home to choose from.  unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.  eric chapman has moved his funeral home right across the street and stolen all the business from rudyard, his embalmer (cum part-owner) and twin sister, antigone, and georgie, their assistant.  to add insult to injury, he’s charming and universally adored by everyone except those at funn funerals.  very british, very ridiculous, and very funny!  WE GET THE BODY IN THE COFFIN IN THE GROUND ON TIME.  (well, like that one time they did.  [coughs])

6. ars pardoxica

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i listened to this one pretty slowly, for me.  it’s very much plot over character, at least in my opinion.  which is fair since there’s quite a lot of plot and set dressing to establish.  we’re following (dr.) sally grissom, a scientist from the twenty-first century who accidentally creates time travel and ends up stuck back in the 1940s.  think a bombs and eisenhower.  it was always interesting, and the paradoxes created by the time travel experiments they kept doing were fascinating (i love time travel stuff because of the paradoxes it creates) but i didn’t get really ravenous for it until season two, which is when i really felt it picked up speed.  you’ve got anthony stuck in a literal CAGE - a “blackroom” bubble set outside of time, sally trying to garden (oh god), a gang consisting of a veteran, a (former) widow and time doubles trying to bring down ODAR (the company sally used to work for, and that anthony still does) and esther sliding down the ladder of morally unsound one determined rung at a time and it makes for a REALLY grabbing audio drama, eh?

7. the strange case of starship iris

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i’m already in love with violet liu, all right?  she’s a science officer on starship iris–well, what was starship iris.  when we first join violet, every single one of her crew mates has just died in an explosion on the pod they were traveling off ship with and the starship iris is in its last throes as well.  luckily(?) a passing ship comes along with a plan to get her to safety.  this has a real illuminae vibe to it (which is an amazing book btw) and all the characters are already so freaking likable.  it’s only on episode two and already shaping up to be a favorite!

8. the orbiting human circus (of the air)

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  if there’s a more heart-warming podcast out there, then i haven’t run across it yet.  first of all, julian koster’s voice is so vulnerable and soft that i would use myself and everyone i know and also puppies as a shield against everything terrible in the universe for him.  second, the rest of the cast - leticia especially - is just as freaking talented.  the premise is that julian is the janitor at a radio show that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower and has strange and impossible acts every night, from tale-telling crickets to singing saws to the orkestral, a bird that can play every orchestral instrument (except that it refuses to play the viola, because reasons).  it’s fun and cute and breaks your heart with happiness regularly and often!

9. alice isn’t dead

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is a horror podcast about a truck driver who is looking for her missing wife.  jasika nicole has to have one of my favorite voices around and having it be so heavily dependent on that makes me ridiculously happy.  throw in the story-telling of joseph fink, the depth and cohesiveness of his writing, and there is nothing not to love here.

10. within the wires

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is really sufficiently creepy considering it’s not often overtly creepy.  this is set up as a series of relaxation tapes, which progressively get more and more interested in helping the listener break out of the facility in which she’s being kept.  super chilling at times, because the voice is so calm and the action so dangerous.

11. welcome to night vale

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, what more can be said about this at this point?  if you’re not listening to it, you’re wrong.  why wouldn’t you want to visit a town that can’t be visited and where every conspiracy theory is real and a part of everyday life?  yeah, everyone knows about the vague yet menacing government agency, steve carlsberg, you’re not hitting on anything new there.  there’s a dog park that doesn’t allow dogs, angels that are never to be identified as angels, mountains that aren’t real, a glow cloud that–ALL HAIL and a love story so complete and perfect that it can and will utterly steal your breath at times.  go, listen, inhale.

I’m a huge fan of podcasts so, here’s a few for those boring bus rides to school.

Docudramas - these are podcasts that are meant to seem like real life with a twist. while not for the faint of hear, gullible, or paranoid utterly enjoyable.

- the black tapes: a podcast by Pacific Northwest Stories which follows Alex Reagan exploring interesting people, most notably Dr. Richard Strand in the world of paranormal investigation.

- tanis: another podcast by Pacific Northwest Stories. this one follows Nic Silver as he looks for perhaps the last genuine mystery in the Information Age.

- rabbits: Pacific Northwest Stories strikes again, but this time in a little bit of a shorter (for now) story line. When Carly Parker’s friend Yupik goes missing, she delves into the world of an ancient game called rabbits which has worldly and otherworldly implications.

- limetown: a podcast by Two-Up which follows the mysterious disappearance of the residence of limetown, a city of scientists, after an emergency that not one seems to understand.

- the message/lifeafter: (it’s called life/after right now but the episodes of the message are near the beginning) podcasts by Panoply. the message is about a team of linguists figuring out an extraterrestrial message that has been sent to earth. life/after looks at what if an app could connect you to a dead loved one, and what would you do to keep that connection.

The Radio Show - these are styles like a talk show but are often bizarre and have twists and quirks

- welcome to night vale: a podcast by night vale presents. this podcast is fairly well known now, and for good reason. This mysterious town of night vale and its wonderful host Cecil Gershwin Palmer announces the news of the day and have done so for ~5 years now. with drama and a really nice voice as well as some wonderful cooing over carlos’s perfect hair, it’s what got me into podcasts.

- king falls am: a podcast by king falls am. a weird town, aliens, creepy towns folk, some real shade towards the US presidency, king falls am shows an early morning am talk show often overshadowed by their more popular and successful counter parts. Funny and intriguing.

- kakos industries: a very, very explicit podcast by kakos industries. (if you’re not good with a lot of frank talk about sex, then this is not for you) corin deeth the third is the CEO of kakos industries whose main aim is to do evil better. a company about the evil in the world, its comedic and comes in the form of an update for those with shares in the company.

Science Fiction - My favourite genre and often with comedy, these podcasts are hopeful and yet to “down to earth (haha)”

- eos 10, a scifi radio play: a podcast by Justin McLachlan. doctors on a space station called eos 10 deal with so much hilarity and difficulty. Dr. Ryan Dalius is transferred as head surgeon to help Dr. Arviddien deal with alcoholism which has stunted his practise.

- ars paradoxica: a podcast by ars PARADOXICA. Time travel and the effects of it is the story line of this podcast, amazingly made and shows Dr. Sally Grissom after being transported back to the 40’s in war time USA.

- marscorp: a podcast by Definitely Human. When EL Hob is woken she expects the mars colony to be started, but among many other mistakes and hilarity, there is laziness at work.

- the strange case of the starship iris: a podcast by Procyon Podcasts. When Violet Liu narrowly escapes the destruction of her starship, she is rescues by some travellers, but they are not what they seem, and soon the misfit crew will uncover a huge conspiracy.

- wolf 359: a crew aboard a ship has so much misfortune, I’m so sorry Douglas:(, but this crew manages to keep a ship falling apart in the middle of space, with some difficulty.

Other/Miscellaneous

- the penumbra podcast: a podcast by Sophie Kaner and Kevin Vibert. the penumbra pod follows a few stories, but most notably the story of Juno Steel, a detective in Hyperion City on mars. He solves crimes, all while being a bitter lady, with the help of his assistant Rita.

- alice isn’t dead: a podcast by night vale presents. When a truckers wife, called Alice goes missing and is presumed dead, Alice’s wife (the trucker) goes on an adventure to look for her, but someone or something doesn’t want her to.

- the bright sessions: dr. Bright is a therapist for people with super powers, need I say more?

- return home: when a demonic voice summons Jonathon Parker to his hometown, curious things begin to happen and he is left the task of sorting them out.

- within the wire: meditation tapes with a twist

is it possible for me to request a jupeter fic with a very jealous juno?? ❤️ i'm in love with the way you write and yr penumbra fics always make my day

If it’s jealous Juno you’re after, we’ve got two fics that might please you:

Jealous Juno is actually surprisingly hard to write, because the poor babe genuinely believes that he doesn’t deserve someone like Peter, so it’s just a matter of time until he’s tossed aside.

God if that doesn’t break my heart.

I’ve got a whole lot more jealous Peter, because the guy is a whole lot more proactive about knowing what he wants and going for it (and he’s got a quasi-canonical track record for being possessive about Juno.)

If you recognize the other person in this fic, it’s because he’s from this fic over here.

“Juno wasn’t always his name you know”

“Okay lie down. No not on my…whatever. Okay. Alright. So… you sure you want me to tell you this story? It’s really not as interesting as you seem to think it’s gonna be”

“Juno, my love, no amount of stalling if going to un-peak my interest. What did Ms. Wire mean when she said that ‘Juno’ isn’t your real name?”

I started relistening to W359 as I was driving home from college in February, and stopped right before the Lovelace reveal. Anyways I picked back up the relisten maybe a week before it came back, and there’s so much here to talk about and I love it a lot but

Eiffel has been working with Minkowski and Hera for over two years. And he doesn’t really have anything to be happy about, and he complains a lot, but there’s something about Valenti’s performance that makes it so hard to believe, and thus a really strong gut punch, that neither Minkowski nor Hera have ever seen Eiffel as happy as in that one photo with Anne. Over two years! And not once has he smiled like that! And for me? Who smiles and laughs a lot? It sounds impossible! And then I spend fifteen minutes thinking about it and realize that Eiffel is never happy. From the very beginning of the podcast. The most you get is like, him enjoying spending time with Hera or the relief when they all survive the current disaster of the day.

He’s not a downer, but he’s not happy.

rooster-geek  asked:

Hey there! I've been seeing gifs and clips of the mcelroys all over Tumblr, and from what I've seen, they're fuckin hilarious, and I was wondering how you would suggest someone start watching their content?

Wow! A question like this for little old me? Honestly I’m a little thrown off but I’ll do my best to let you in on some info, and open this up to anyone a little more well versed than I am.

Monster Factory - This was actually my first introduction into any sort of McElroy content. It’s a series on the Polygon YouTube page your oldest brother and your sweet baby brother, Justin and Griffin McElroy respectively, create abominations within character creators in video games and basically…hack and roleplay their way into your heart. It’s probably one of the more universally known aspects of the McElroy fanbase because it’s easily accessible and hilarious. This is where all those Final Pam, Turbovicki, and Knife Dad jokes come from. I highly recommend starting here because it is a great base for figuring out if you like their humor style and whether you’d be interested in diving deeper.

MBMBAM - Better known as My Brother, My Brother, and Me. This is a podcast where the three McElroy brothers give advice for people of the modern era. You have Justin and Griffin, as well as the middlest brother Travis. A lot of questions come from Yahoo answers or user submitted things, but it is a wholly fun podcast. The first episodes are shaky and older, so a lot of people suggest jumping in later if you aren’t concerned about starting from the beginning. The podcast is super funny and heartwarming, and this was personally my first introduction to Travis McElroy, who is amazing. Don’t be confused by this podcast because there is a recent Seeso television series of the same name based on the podcast which leads to ….

My Brother, My Brother, and Me (tv) - I linked the episode of the show that was released on YouTube, and if you like it you can always sign up for a free trial on Seeso to see all the episodes. It’s an amazing show and I highly recommend watching it because if you enjoy the McElroy boys it doesn’t disappoint at all!

The Adventure Zone - A D&D Podcast with all three brothers and their lovely father. I have to admit I haven’t delved very far into this one, and know all the baseline things but I do know it looks like a lot of rowdy fun with some wild boys!

Shmanners - Are you scared of being that one person at a function who doesn’t know which words or motions to use to not look like a total buffoon? Travis and his wife Theresa will show you what manners are all about!

Sawbones - Dr. Sydnee McElroy and her doting husband Justin go through the mishaps of the medical world while being blissfully married. It’s super fun and if you like medical jargon and stories it’s totally an awesome podcast!

Rose Buddies - Griffin and his wife Rachel go in depth for some high brow analysis of the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchises and all of its side projects. It’s hilarious and dives super deep into the shows. So if you like seeing a more intense viewing of shameless reality television, which I do, this is super fun!

There is a lot more, and it’s all super awesome! I’ll link the Polygon YouTube page and their own personal podcast listing on their page so you can check more out. Anyone with more to add can feel free, especially for Adventure Zone related things!

I fucking love Sean Chiplock

No seriously. He is amazing. I can’t even express how much I admire him and it’s usually easy for me to put these kinds of things into words.

I’m guessing this will be one of those “I need to get this off my chest so expect a long as heck text, thank you” kind of posts. I do not even know yet, I’ll just write and see how it goes. Writing is fun, yo.

Okay so. Sonicmega. Cool dude. Would recommend checking out.

I found him through his “Papyrus Makes a Mixtape” audio in 2015. Shit, I already have a writer’s block. Please brain, work with me. It’s an absolutely hilarious and great lyrical adaption of Bonetrousle, Papyrus’ Theme from Undertale. He wrote the lyrics and voiced both Papyrus and Sans. “Papyrus Makes a Mixtape” was one of the first fanworks of Undertale I ever came across so whenever someone mentions it, I get instant flashbacks to the first days of Undertale. It was one of those songs my sister and I sang the good old days. (And boy, were we into it. We’d even make the facial expressions. Just imagine us listening to it in our car’s speaker and screaming. It’s an accurate image.)

I followed him on tumblr so, occasionally, I’d see his posts but that was it. Basically all I knew about sonicmega. He stuck to me as the voice of Papyrus and Sans in “Papyrus Makes a Mixtape” and “What’s Boning On”, another great masterpiece, if I say so myself.

And then, I happened to purchase a Nintendo Switch in late March of 2017. Money well spent, woop woop! Starting Breath of the Wild was a whole new chapter to me. I had never gone near a Zelda game before that. Breath of the Wild is what got me into the Zelda franchise in general. I don’t know why I had not gotten into Zelda before, being a huge Nintendo fan. Nevertheless, I did and I’m so happy.

Breath of the Wild also got me to realise that I’m a fucking furry ohmygod. I was absolutely not prepared when I walked into Rito Village. I started doing the Main Quest to find Teba. In order to find him, you need to find his wife in the village and for some reason I spent 20 minutes trying to find Saki, aNYWAY. Suddenly Link started doing the “Oh shit, I remember something!” stuff while looking at the village’s landing and that’s how it all started, basically.

I think it was evening. I was lazing out on my couch and watching a freaking gorgeous bird landing in front of Link.

‘Impressive, I know.’

It was at that moment I knew.
Revali was a huge jerk.

But there was something so soothing and charming about his voice and his attitude. I honestly got upset when the cutscene was over. My heart needed more, okay.

So like, I still had that ‘I don’t know what just happened and what the heck that bird was talking about but for some reason I love him’ kind of feeling while making my way to the Flight Range.

And guys, guys, guys.

Teba spoke.

HIS VOICE I CAN’T EVEN- It’s funny because Revali is all I want in my life right now. I’d sacrifice anything for him to be real, it’s crazy. But back then, I was all about Teba. I decided to go to sleep and continue the quest the next day because it was late but I remember fangirling about it all night to my sister, who had not played Breath of the Wild yet. ‘Dude, listen. Today I went to this very cool bird town thing. The setting is all I ever wanted in a village, the soundtrack is my funeral music and there’s this really freaking cool bird warrior with this absolute amazing voice, I want him to sing me goodnight every night, you don’t understand!’

That’s not all of it, however. The first Divine Beast quest I ever started doing was in Gerudo Town, for the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. The thing is, I could not beat Thunderblight Ganon. So I left and headed somewhere else. That somewhere else was Rito Village. I was absolutely terrified to go to Vah Medoh because I was expecting Thunderblight Ganon to come out of no where. I don’t know, I was imagining it to come out and say ‘You thought I forgot about you? Now DIE!’

I’m flying with Teba in the sky, with lasers shooting at us, this epic music that just spoke ‘You can’t fail, bro.’ and the whole scene is so perfect. And when it was time to land on Medoh and Teba got hurt, I screamed‘Listen, Teba, my man, we can talk about this? You can like, wait in the corner. Don’t be like Riju, stay with me man.’

And so, Teba leaves. Link does his Sheikah Slate magic and I hear this voice that I can’t shake the feeling I’ve heard before.

‘Well now, I’ve seen this face before…’

‘… Do I know you from somewhere?’

As I mentioned before, I had not beaten Thunderblight Ganon at that point. I did not know who the voice speaking to me inside Vah Naboris was. I thought of Urbosa as “That spy girl who reminds me of Wyldstyle from the LEGO Movie”. I had no idea that the people speaking to you in the Divine Beasts were seen in flashbacks.

To me, Revali was “sir sassy beast, who is probably a black haired tall Hylian dude”. Beating Windblight Ganon with him cheering me was something I needed, if that makes sense. The way ‘I can’t believe I’m actually saying this… But you must avenge me, Link!’ was performed gave me the chills. It meant so much knowing that someone had finally faith in me while I fought that thing.

‘Well I’ll be plucked… You defeated him, eh?’

He lands in the exact same way he had in his cutscene. ‘WAIT HOLD ON, IT WAS JERKISH RITO ALL ALONG!?’ I literally died at that moment. I don’t know how to explain my excitement other than saying I died. Which is not a bad thing considering Revali is a spirit and if I become one I’ll be able to be with him, right, right, right

After Revali gave me his gale and I started realising what the heckling heck was happening, I was in tears. It was the first time I cried in the game. I sound dramatic but it’s true. I felt this ‘Oh god. Husband birb gave me his power. I must not fail him. Wait what, husband? Where did this come from?’. The music. THE MUSIC. ICANSPEAKABOUTHISTHEMEFORHOURSANDHOURSAND-

Technical Difficulties. Please stand by…

The quest in Rito Village is by far my favourite. I loved the characters, the sceneries, the scenario and the overall atmosphere. ‘Love’ is a perfect way to describe my feelings towards this place. I always feel so welcome there.

Then there’s this… Not so welcome place. Not welcome at the outside, at least. Going through the lost woods, feeling lost, alone, scared, only to be greeted in a forest decorated in green by some tiny creatures and… A tree. I looked at it and thought ‘Is this my father? Why do I feel so safe around him? Why is he so perfect for a tree?’

A month and a half later, I believe, I finished Breath of the Wild. I decided to see what the fanbase was about. By freaking instict I type “Revali” in tumblr’s search bar. I had found my home. Literally.

I don’t remember how exactly this happened but I started listening to some audios popping up. ‘Oh man, sonicmega has such a good Ravioli voice!’ I was so happy to see that a creator I was already familiar with had produced something related to my new obsession.

Oh little did I know.

Realising he was the official voice for Revali, Teba and Deku tree made me throw my phone down and scream. I could not process it all. I was so feeling so ??? but so !!! at the same time, it was weird.

As I said, I had never really gotten to know Sean as a person and view his overall work. Currently, I have notifications to his tumblr turned on for his tumblr and I’m afraid I freak him out whenever I like posts three seconds after they are posted, oops. And I may or may not have downloaded all of the Revali and Teba voicelines he was making at some point. I’m not crazy, I’m just filling up my fangirl needs.

Sean is so talented? He can do a huge variety of voices and he has such potential. Listening to his performance in literally everything is such a pleasure. I have never been unsatisfied with his work.

But honestly? What’s being talented if you are not “a person”? To me, being a good person is what matters the most. While yes, being talented is an amazing trait, being good, generous and kind is way more important.

This is why I like and admire Sean so much. Because not only he has gifted us with his voice acting skills but with being real as well. For connecting with his fanbase. For showing us what it’s like - not to voice a character - but to be a person voicing a character.

It’s important to remember that behind all the content we see, there is a person. A living, breathing person. Nowdays, I think it’s very rare to find someone who is so genuine and passionate about not only their work but their fans as well. Someone who treats their fanbase as allies and does not see themselves superior of them all.

Yesterday, a video by @ojedi popped up at my YouTube feed. She was explaining what had happened in her stream of fighting Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild. Basically, Sean was there, watching her beat it. He even recorded an audio in his Revali voice, congratulating her for defeating Ganon and also paid for her E3 ticket. I rushed over to watch the ending of the stream. I was smiling like an idiot throughout the whole thing. And even cried but details. I could feel Haley’s happiness. I just discovered her channel but I am so godamn happy for her. The fact that Sean took the time to do all of this, it warms my heart. Not everyone does this. The kindess this person spreads is something I admire so much.

My dad found an old mp3 somewhere and gave it to me. I already have an mp3 so I decided to use that one to listen to podcasts before going to sleep. The first podcast I listened to, a few days ago, was “ZI Podcast Ep. 055 - Talking with Sean Chiplock”. I am planning on listening to some more I have found.

To begin with, listening to podcasts before sleeping is a great experience and I recommend it a lot. It helps you relax and concentrate, making you both listen to something you enjoy and falling asleep easier. I quite enjoyed the podcast. No, wait. I loved it. As I mentioned more than once already, to me, being real, being a person is more important than talent. Listening to how Sean got into voice acting and how he managed to achieve his dreams is a truly beautiful story and very inspirational.

Sean Chiplock is my role model. I want to be like him when I grow up. I want to be able to interact with my fanbase and give as much as I can. I want to be there, I want to be real.

I don’t know what else to say other than thank you @sonicmega. Thank you for being such a wonderful person. For inspiring us to do things and for making us see some situations in ways we had not thought of. I hope you know you are a huge source of inspiration to so many people and that we’ll continue to support you until the end and even more than that.

Personally, I was going through a very strange stage of my life. As if a new chapter was opened in which you were big help and inspiration in. Thank you for everything you have done. This summer, I learned so many things about voice acting. I also saw how someone can choose how they act towards anyone else, regardless of how well known they are. You interacting with your fanbase, for example. Treating fans as people and not something else. (I already believed this kind of interaction was possible. But seeing it in action is something absolutely fascinating for me.) All those mean a lot. They mean more than I can say.

Thank you, Sean. For everything.

It's about to get hot in here...

We were thrilled to be joined by two very special guests, @hawthornewhisperer and @knowlesian, who are smart-as-heck analysts of the show and shared all kinds of brilliant insights with us.

Thank you so much, ladies and listeners, for your patience in waiting for this one! The delay in getting this recap uploaded was because having multiple people exponentially increases the editing hassle, but we promise it’s worth it because these ladies are terrific.

We covered 18th century British colonialism, Abby’s emotional breakdown, Bill Cadogan’s love of wordplay, Clarke and Murphy’s relationship, Sassy Nihilist Jasper, how to rave responsibly (hint: bring a backpack), and tons of speculation about where the season might be going next, both things we’re hoping for (Becca flashbacks!) and things we’re side-eyeing (Commander Clarke???). Come join the lady nerd party!

It always makes me nervous when the Cow Chop guys talk about the LGBT+ community (specifically transgender people in this case) or things like that.
I know they don’t mean any harm (for the most part) when they talk about it, and you can tell they don’t want people to be offended. But I’ve always gotten weird vibes when they talk about it, which makes me feel weird as a non-binary kind of person. Instead of talking it over in a normal way, the energy is always nervous as all hell and can sometimes get defensive.
Plus they used slurs, even though they probably didn’t know they were slurs (still a bad thing though).
But, the plus side is that you could tell they are open to talk about things like that, they are just awkward and afraid of saying the wrong thing. Borderline aggressive maybe, but that could be because they’re afraid of being judged by their friends about what they say (I say this specifically in Aleks’ case).
James saying he wouldn’t be against being with a trans person was great and it made me hella happy!
So yeah. I just really hope this energy they give out about these things isn’t centered around transphobia and more around the fact that they know they’re not all-knowing on the subject, thus making them nervous. Sorry for the talk, I just felt a certain way after the beginning of the podcast.
