The Domestic Garden Witch: Po-Ta-Toes

So maybe you’re a college witch with limited space and money, limited to the one window in your dorm. Or, maybe you’re a witch without extensive backyard space who wants to start up a magical garden. Perhaps you’re a kitchen witch who wants the freshest herbs right at her fingertips.

For many witches, having a garden seems to be a bit of a no-brainer. After all, plants and magic go hand-in-hand. Plus, when thinking of a witch, it’s hard not to think of a cottage in the woods with a little vegetable garden out front. Unfortunately for the majority of us, our cottage in the woods is a tiny flat, and our garden out front is a windowsill with limited space.

This is when it comes time to embrace your craftiness and bring your garden indoors! Not only does it place your garden in a convenient location, it also allows you to freshen the air, recycle what would otherwise harm the earth, and embrace your witchy green thumb!

Okay, so if you follow my blog, chances are that you’re wondering if this whole potato theme for today is because of St. Patrick’s. I promise, I’m not enforcing Irish stereotypes on purpose. I just really like potatoes, and when it comes to gardening, it’s a bit of a disservice to overlook this vegetable. After all, when we think about kitchen gardens or home gardens, we think of herbs or flowers, and not about the veggies we eat that live a rather subterranean existence. But potatoes - those lovely little brown lumps that we can get for a couple dollars per five pound bag in the supermarket - are not only inexpensive. They’re extremely hardy little plants that can be grown rather easily.

You don’t need much to get started with this project. First, you need “seed potatoes.” This is not hard to find. Simply take a few potatoes and allow them to grow a bit. They will sprout a few short little stalks from the eyes on the surface. Save these, and get potting mix and two medium to large plastic pots that can easily stack one inside the other.

Carefully cut a few panes out of the inner pot as in the picture above, then place the inner pot into the outer one. Fill the pot part way with soil, add your seed potatoes, and cover them with potting mix. Water as needed until the potato plants peek up out of the soil. Cover them again and repeat this process gradually until the pot is full.

In roughly three months, you’ll have potato plants that are ready to begin harvesting. Simply lift the inner pot up and pluck your potatoes as needed from the sides! Fresh potatoes, free!

Ideally, this method of potato cultivation can help feed a family of four for about a year. My family had used this method, and our family of five was able to stay fed for a year off of two of these planters (we like potatoes… and we eat them a lot…)

How Can I Witch This?

Potatoes are very useful in witchcraft, and you can find out some of their magickal uses in my Foodie Friday article about Seafood Gnocchi. As for growing them, many of those properties remain the same!

As with any gardening venture, add crystals to the soil to promote healthy and fruitful plants, draw sigils and symbols on the pottery or planters, and incorporate protection or fertility ingredients into the soil - such as eggshell or coffee grounds.

Outside of the useful culinary benefits of having a potato planter on your front porch, a garden such as this is useful for outdoor space cleansing in small spaces, and for inviting prosperity into your home or property since potatoes represent such comforts as full bellies and pockets.

Since a small number of potatoes can be used to produce a much larger quantity in this planting method, you could even turn them into a prosperity or slow growth money spell! Pour your intent into the seed potatoes when you plant them, and as they produce new crops, give them water and food as an offering in order to keep the spell fed! Some of the potatoes produced in this way can also be converted into offerings or used in spellwork, in addition to being used to cook with!

The possibilities are practically endless where potatoes are concerned! See what you can do with these nifty little spuds!

And may your harvests always be bountiful!

Blessed Be! )O(

How to Discuss Allowance With Your Sugar Daddy

Ah, the sugar baby allowance. Even the most experienced of us can find ourselves getting squeamish when it comes to talking money with a potential sugar daddy.

Here are our top 10 allowance tips to help you get what you want gracefully and effortlessly.

1. Get Comfortable Asking

The most important step to getting what you want is asking for it. We all know this, but hey, it can be so uncomfortable to ask for money.

If the thought of asking for what you want makes you a little queasy, take the time to make yourself comfortable with it before you begin talking allowance with potential sugar daddies.

We recommend this little exercise. Practice makes perfect, so rinse and repeat ’til you can state what you want without so much as an eyelid bat.

2. Allowance Après Date

This is such a simple, yet effective, means of negotiating allowance: Don’t discuss it on your first date with a potential sugar daddy. Concentrate all your first date efforts solely on impressing him wildly.

A genuine, interested sugar daddy will bring up the allowance on his own. If he mentions it during the date, take it as a sign that he’s definitely interested, smile and tell him that you’d like the first date to be focused on simply getting to know each other.

Suggest that if he’s interested in an arrangement with you, he could call you to talk about the allowance after the date.

This simple move immediately does a few things for you:

Sends the potential sugar daddy the message that you’re more interested in a suitable arrangement than money. And that little message also sends another message: that he cannot control you or gain your interest with his money alone. This makes it easier for you to discuss the terms of the relationship, set boundaries, and negotiate your allowance.
Makes it clear that you are nowhere near desperate and while you are interested in him, not overly so. This lack of overt interest gives you more control of the sugar relationship from the get-go.
Plus, utilizing this tip lets you take advantage of the next allowance tip…

3. Take Advantage of the Phone

Unless you’re really, really comfortable asking for what you want – you might prefer the distance of the telephone over a face-to-face discussion.

As they say, 93% of communication is non-verbal. If you’re not completely confident in what you’re asking for, the potential sugar daddy might be able to glean that through your expression, your hand gestures, your body language.

On the phone, however, all you need to control is your voice. Inject it with confidence and prepare to discuss allowance.

4. Know Your Options

Your sugar daddy might already have his preferences on how to give you your allowance, but it’s still a good idea to get to know your options.

How often do you want to receive your allowance? Weekly? Monthly?

How do you want to receive your allowance? Cash? Pre-paid credit card? Monthly bills paid? Read more about popular methods to receive a sugar baby allowance here.

There is no right or wrong answer to these questions – it’s just important that you know your options and go with what is most comfortable for you.

5. Do Your Research and Know His Range

Sugar daddies hail from various professions and income brackets. Before discussing allowance with your sugar daddy, do your part by researching what his range might be.

What’s the average income for someone in his profession in the city you’re living in? Is he an employee or does he own his own company? Does he have a family to support or is he single? Does he own his home or does he rent?

You can often find all this out by actively listening to the things he says as well as putting Google to good use.

Based on what you estimate to be his earning potential, you will know the reasonable range he can afford. Plus, you can weed out the men who are promising certain allowance amounts but clearly cannot afford it.

According to Seeking Arrangement, the average sugar daddy in 2013 earned a little over $270,000 and the average sugar baby allowance in 2013 was a little over $60,000.  That comes to sugar daddies paying a little over 20% of their income toward their sugar babies (hey, we’re actually cheaper than US taxes). That’s a reasonable estimate of what you’re sugar daddy should be able to provide you and what you can expect from a sugar daddy.

Calculate his reasonable range and then negotiate.

6. Forget Ladies First

A genuine, interested sugar daddy will usually bring up the topic of allowance by asking you what you want.

If you’re not totally comfortable with stating your amount first, forget the whole “ladies first” thing and ask him for his range first (‘though you’ll already have an idea based on your research). The easiest way to do so is to approach the topic indirectly by asking if he’s had previous arrangements. Ask how they went, what the terms were, how the relationship was, and what the allowance arrangement had been.

If he hasn’t had previous arrangements, keep in mind that people are more inclined to answer an uncomfortable question after being asked a range of more comfortable questions so start out the discussion by asking your potential sugar daddy questions like, “What does your ideal arrangement look like?” “How often do you want to meet me?”Continue asking questions about the arrangement and then pop in the question of what allowance range he’d be comfortable with.

If he low-balls you, when you know his range can very reasonably be higher, rebut with something like, “Oh, I was thinking more like $x,xxx.”

7. A “Yes” is a Given

When negotiating allowance, assume that he’ll give it to you.

When he asks you for the allowance you want, tell him simply and matter-of-factly: “I’m thinking $x,xxx.”

Keep a smile on your face, maintain eye contact, and say it as naturally as you would tell him what you’re ordering off the menu. Your amount might seem high to you, but remember that SDs have probably heard it all: girls asking for $10,000+, cars, etc., so you reasonable allowance range is probably not that surprising.

Don’t low ball yourself. Ask for what you want.

8. Remember: You’re Just Getting Your Due

This is a key point that all sugar babies must remember at all times: Asking for allowance is NOT asking for a handout.

You’re negotiating an allowance for a number of services being rendered to your sugar daddy.

And sugar daddies may be a lot of things, but they are not financially stupid. Your potential sugar daddy is not giving you an allowance out of the kindness of his heart. He is getting something valuable out of it. He knows it. You should too.

You listen to him talk about work. You make him laugh. You remind him of his youth. You are there for him physically, emotionally, mentally. He’s not doing you a favor by giving you allowance – he’s reciprocating for how you make him feel. This is no small service – people spend the majority of their money to be made to feel a certain way. It’s a considerable service so don’t ever spend any of your energy feeling bad about asking for whatyou want.9. Your Allowance = Your Money

Some sugar daddies might express shock or surprise when you state your allowance range. Some will even ask you what you plan on doing with all that money, as if you need to justify your allowance to them.

You don’t have to.

An allowance is not a handout. You’ve earned it.

Can you imagine a potential employer asking you what you’re going to do with all that income you’re earning at their company? Of course not. That’d be preposterous – once the company pays you for your services, it’s your money. Not theirs.

Same thing with the sugar allowance. You don’t need to justify the amount you’re asking for. Don’t talk about your debt, your bills, etc. – there’s no need for all that. He’s asking you how much you require and that’s all you need to say.

If he asks – don’t tabulate anything, don’t justify anything. Say something simple and sensible like, “A girl’s gotta save, you know…” and end it with a smile.

In our experience, if a potential sugar daddy keeps on asking why you would needall that money – chances are, he’s not going to make a great sugar daddy to begin with as he simply doesn’t understand that by providing him a service, you have every right to spend the allowance that you earn any way you want.

10. Prepare to Say “Next”

Some sugar babies may disagree with us on this one, but we have this rule: If a potential sugar daddy does not agree to the allowance asked for (which is reasonable and within what we know is possible with his income range) – politely end the dinner and cross him off the potentials list.

Why?

In our experience, men who understand your value as a sugar baby are willing to pay for it. They know you’re worth it. They want what you have to offer. And like companies who want to recruit the best talent, these sugar daddies are prepared to give you what you’re asking for.

These men make better investments in the long run because they already know you’re worthwhile.

We don’t recommend ever begging or trying to convince any sugar daddy to give you what you want. If he doesn’t already see you as a worthwhile investment, he’s not going to be a great sugar daddy anyway.

And by settling for less than what you want – you’re not going to be happy enough to keep him happy. It’s a two-way street. Your needs must be met. The good sugar daddies know this. They show it by giving you what you want.

Bonus Tip: 11. There are Exceptions

At the same time, sometimes you’ll run into a potential sugar daddy who you have a great dynamic with…but he does not make enough to give you the ideal allowance.

In those cases, we’d say: go with the sugar daddy you like even if his allowance is a little bit lower than ideal. An enjoyable arrangement comes from more than just allowance.

sugar baby allowance guide II

how i organize
  •  one-subject notebooks.
    • These saved my life. I know everyone’s always saying to keep your stuff in one place and keep track of it all at once, and the way to do that is (apparently) thick, 5-subject looseleaf notebooks and 3″ binders. These have never worked for me, and here’s why: the larger the notebook, the more it catches and rips and doesn’t close right.
    • Plus, the larger the notebook, the longer you use it, and the longer it has to survive that wear and tear! (Bonus: without having to worry about the notebook being destroyed, I also don’t have to buy the more expensive and durable brands; now I only pay for quality of paper and pretty colours!)
    • So, I use one-subject notebooks for each class and go through multiple (I’ve never noticed a significant cost difference). A single one-subject notebook lasts me 4-6 units, or about one quarter/half a semester. When I complete a notebook, I simply begin the next, and carry only the newest one with me places. The previous notebooks are kept in my study space so I can always reference them as though it’s one large book, and I rarely need the previous chapters for in-class work.
    • I start with one notebook per class plus one notebook purely for scribbles or rip-out looseleaf paper, and keep a supply of empty notebooks at my permanent study space.
  • central grade collection.
    • I do this because it’s easy to reference back to. Soooo many terrible teachers who simply don’t trust their students. Feels nice to whip out a test to prove you were right (and aced it!). Calculating the grade myself makes me more aware of what’s going on with my academics. My biggest downfall this year was not paying attention to my grades!
    • I used to use an accordion folder for this, but this year I’m going to try combining that with a digital file.
    • Whenever I receive a grade back, the paper copy goes in a physical folder and the percentage/grade itself goes onto a file on my computer.
    • The physical folder is organized by classes. As I receive grades back, the newest goes in the front, so each class is naturally ordered chronologically. I tried organizing it further by putting flags to tell apart tests, quizzes, essays, etc. It worked well but eventually I just didn’t bother.
    • The computer file is actually multiple files (again, one for each class). An excel spreadsheet or a simple word doc works well. I specify the material as much as possible (for example, “Unit 1: Trig. Quiz 1: Identities. Date: 7-4-2015″ using both words and numbers) so I can easily search for it later. Next to it goes the numerical and letter grade. I’m thinking of incorporating a note-taking system as well, listing what went wrong and such.
    • This sounds like a lot of work, but it takes very little time and is well worth it. Logging the grades take about 5 minutes, tops. I often find myself putting off work by organizing grades. Obviously it’s hard to log things instantly, so I keep a stack of “to be graded” on my desk until I get around to it.
    • Oh, and keep the physical folder safe in your room/dorm. Carrying it around for spiteful moments is not worth the risk of losing all your grades!
  • separate days.
    • I don’t know about you, but my school has something similar to a block schedule. Monday, Wednesday, Fridays all have the same classes. Tuesdays and Thursdays have the same classes as well. My method works for real block scheduling, too, for even/odd or on/off days. I once had a chronic problem of bringing in the wrong day’s homework. Not anymore!!
    • Basically, just keep the two workpiles separate.
    • I have two cabinets on my desk: one for MWF classes, one for TTh classes. On my desk at all times are my “daily” tools: laptop, charger, planner, pencil pouch, water bottle, etc.
    • In the morning, I always put my dailies in first so I don’t forget, then I check the calendar. Tuesday? Shove in the TTh stack. It’s as simple as that.
    • When actually doing my homework, obviously, prioritize. There isn’t a hardfast “do your homework the day you get it” rule, especially since studying is a process! But when nothing’s especially urgent and I don’t have a favourite assignment, I literally flip a coin.
  • computer files have to be neat.
    • I have so many subfolders I don’t know what to do with them.
    • Separate everything, again, and again, and again. And label it all to hell and back. You can never have a file title that’s too long.
  • You know how you can make multiple accounts on your computer? Admin vs user? Yeah, do that.
    • Make your admin account your free-time, slacker account.
    • Make your user account your work account.
    • Make all the settings admin-only accessible. Don’t get distracted by downloading random crap while doing your homework. Put restrictions on internet usage, gameplay, etc. To get distracted, you have to make the effort to enter an admin password every time you get off task.
    • Bonus: during presentations, you never have to worry about accidentally opening something embarrassing. Everything embarrassing should be in your personal account!
  • Lastly: don’t stress!
    • When I stress, everything gets disorganized. My mind gets cluttered and so does the rest of my life. I used to stress so hard about grades.
    • If you don’t think you can make the deadline, don’t. One grade is not worth a night of sleep and mental health.
    • If the grade is super important (not all grades are like this: prioritize!) work on it as hard as you can. Don’t stress; put all that stressful energy into the work. Focus your ass off. If you can’t do that, it’s time to stop.
    • Talk to the teacher the next day. Take responsibility for your mistake. Apologize, and do not give excuses. Show to your teacher that you care more about the learning than the grade; it will pay off in the long run.
    • The day after missing a huge assignment is rough. Don’t let it get to you! Dwelling on this assignment only sets you up for failure on any other assignments you have that day. Focus on those and not on what you did wrong. Have yourself a good break, snack, jog, and get back in there. The world isn’t over!
i hate you, i love you. (m) | 02

PT.1 | PT.2 | Drabbles

Pairing: Jungkook x Reader

Genre: Angst/Smut

Description: You hated him at seven, warmed up to him at twelve, and liked him at fifteen. Now the two of you are twenty years old and inseparable best friends… and you’re absolutely in love with him; he’s in love too—just not with you.

Word Count: 9,013

cr.

His body collapsed in the empty space next to yours, heavy breaths falling from his swollen lips as he waited for the harsh rise and fall of his chest to subside. His mind was wrecked with a numbness as he let the spikes of pleasure wash through his body. The room was completely soundless except for the weighted pants falling from yours and Jungkook’s mouths. But eventually his breathing, along with yours, returned to normal, leaving the two of you in deafening silence.

Jungkook’s fucked out mind, now completely clear as the weight of the situation finally settled inside of him. He just slept with his best friend… and he honestly wasn’t sure what to do now. He turned his head to the side slowly, an anxiety forming inside of his chest at the thought of seeing your reaction.

What he saw was you, staring straight up at the ceiling, tight-lipped, and not daring to look at him. The sight scared him, he couldn’t tell what you were thinking as you refused to turn your sights towards him. Should he say something, should he reach out to you? He wasn’t sure what the right option here really was.

But before he can make a decision he watches as your body suddenly lifted into a sitting positon, throwing your legs over the side of the bed as you prepared to get up. Jungkook is quick though, swiftly reaching forward to grasp your wrist before you can get up. He can see the noticeable stiffening of your bare back as his hand wrapped around your skin, and it makes a sickly feeling run through his stomach at your visible lack of comfort with him.

5 Chester’s Songs About Being Strong

I don’t know about you guys, but I couldn’t get over what happened to Chester just yet and I don’t know if I ever will. I’ve been playing his songs in my iPod and in my head, some of them are sad, some of them are empowering.

The lyrics made me question why a man that writes songs about being strong, get back on your feet and let bad things go did what he did, but I guess there’s a limit every person can go to before tearing apart.

So this is the 5 songs Chester Bennington composed (or recorded) about being strong.

5. Somewhere I Belong

The song is about someone who’s in the darkness and wants and tries to find the light.

“I will break away, I’ll find myself today”

“I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I’ve felt so long
(Erase all the pain till it’s gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I’m close to something real
I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along
Somewhere I belong”

4. One More Light

Chester’s words in the beginning simply kill me, ‘cause now I’m singing this song for him. We all care and we all feel very much each day.

“Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?”

“There are things that we can have, but can’t keep”

“And you’re angry, and you should be, it’s not fair
Just ‘cause you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it, isn’t there”

“Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do”

3. Not Alone

I like this song not only because it brings hope and love, but also a sense of freedom. The way he sings “you are not alone”… it just gives me chills.

“The cold comes, racing through my skin
Searching for a way to get to you through the storm”

“Go, leaving all you’ve known, you are not alone”

If I may, I’d like to make a small change in this verse: “No, don’t give up your hope, you are not alone”, ‘cause that’s exactly what I’d say to him.

2. Iridescent

A powerful song, not only for its lyrics, but also for the sonority.

“Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?
You build up hope, but failure’s all you’ve known
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go”

1. The Messenger

This song won’t stop playing in my head when I heard about Chester. This one song that fills up the heart with so much hope.

When you feel all alone
Cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run
Listen to your heart
Those angel voices
They’ll sing to you, they’ll be your guide back home

When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
It keeps us kind

When you’ve suffered enough
And your spirit is breaking
You’re growing desperate from the fight
Remember you’re loved
And you always will be
This melody will bring you right back home

When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind
When life leaves us blind
Love keeps us kind

So I guess this is me, trying to say goodbye…

@lightning-cross

The thing that I really loved in Stranger Things is that Jonathan was never the “weird kid” to Nancy. When her friends were making fun of him, she went over and talked to him about his brother. When she started spending time with him, there was never a moment of disgust when she was with him (ie. “am I REALLY hanging out with Jonathan Byers??”). She was never grossed out when people thought they were dating (”EW! He’s disgusting, no!!”), she was never embarrassed to call him a friend, and she enjoyed her time with him despite the seemingly constant danger they put themselves in. She pined after him, she became attracted to him almost from the beginning. He was never simply a means to an end (”I’m only hanging around him so he can help me find Barb, after that, he can screw off”). If Steve hadn’t interrupted them, Jonathan most likely would have confessed and she very likely would have reciprocated. They both helped and believed in each other, they found easy comfort in one another and it never seemed forced.

I’m just really happy Nancy didn’t fall for him despite the “weird” because she didn’t see the weird in the first place. It’s nice to see how that trope can be played differently and new.

How To Find Your Spirit Guides, And Guardian Angels

Your spirit guides, and guardian angels are very powerful entities that have been watching over you, and are ever present in your life even, if you do not have a relationship with them yet. These beings are specifically connected to you, because you chose each other before you were even born into this incarnation. Everyone has a spirit guide, and a guardian angel. Finding them, and learning how to interact, and communicate with them can greatly improve every single facet of your life through the simple act of their presence. Some people may find it hard to find their spirit guides, and guardian angels, others will find it very easy, it all depends on if you are ready to know them, or not. There are many ways to go about finding your spirit guides, and guardian angels, if you are ready to go searching for them. Any of these methods am about to share with you can help you find them, but it is also important to use your insight, and introspection to verify your experiences.

This article might help too: http://wolfofantimonyoccultism.tumblr.com/post/142941334371/spirit-guides

Things that can help you find your spirit guides, and guardian angels:

• Just knowing that they exist.

Just to the act of simply acknowledging that they exist will allow you to start building a connection with them. You will start to see their influences in the world, and all of the things that they do for you, that you might not have been previously aware of. Allowing for you to meet them, and to get to know them not through a direct meeting, but through there actions in your life.

• Asking them to appear, and to be ever-present.

This will show them that you are ready to have them in your life. Just like the previous method, it will open you up to experience what they do in your life already. After you ask them to be more present in your life, you should look out for signs of them acting in your life.

Meditation.

Through the act of meditation one can find their spirit guides, and guardian angels by using their spiritual senses to perceive them. To do this all you will really need to do it enter a meditative state, open your third eye, and call to them. They should come to you, and show you their presence, and once they do you guys can begin your communication, and learning of each other. This meeting is most likely going to happen in your sacred space, or astral temple, and is going to rely heavily on your sixth sense’s ability to pick up spiritual constructs.

• Divination.

Divination can be a very useful tool when trying to communicate with anything so why not your Spirit guides, and guardian angels. All you need to do is get some form of divination method of your choice, and ask your spirit guides, and guardian angels to answer through it. Then simply begin asking questions to it as normal, and they will answer through the act of your divination tools. This will allow you to communicate with them, and get to know them better. This is a very good method, especially when you can not get into a meditative state, or when you do not have a complete grasp of using your sixth sense abilities.

• Dream.

If you know how to lucid dream, you can always call out for them in your dreams and they will appear to you there.  If you cannot lucid dream, you can always ask your spirit guides, and guardian angels to appear to you in your dreams before you go to bed, and they may come to you and your dreams. That’s all there really is to it.

• Astral projection.

Astral projection can be quite helpful, when trying to communicate with any entity this also includes your spirit guides, and guardian angels. all you have to do is astral projecting and you will be able to find your Spirit guides and guardian angels on the astral plane and communicate with them.

• And much more, that I’m probably forgetting, while writing this.

OK, I’m so so sorry this took so long! I was like halfway through with it when my computer decided to freeze up and crash on me before I saved. I was/still am pissed.

But here we are. Just a little NSFW.

“I don’t know much about being a kid…never really had a childhood.”

Of course God does not consider you hopeless. If He did He would not be moving you to seek Him. What is going on in you at present is simply the beginning of the treatment. Continue seeking Him with seriousness. Unless He wanted you, you would not be wanting Him.

From the very first moment you woke up, a hunger and a desire incurable by normal food settling low in your belly, you had known the day would be nothing but long and tiresome. The alarm had not gone off, (no doubt caused by your late-night phone call with Taehyung in which you had fallen asleep to the sound of his voice before you could reset your alarm), leaving you with nothing but twenty minutes to rush through your morning routine and no time at all to spend five extra minutes in the shower quenching the heat and ache working its way through your system.

You had made it to work on time, thankfully, but your day had not improved. Instead of an eight-hour shift full of nothing but paperwork and a few phone calls, you had been forced to sit in on several meetings, all the while ignoring the way pleasure thrummed through you as you clenched your legs just a tad tighter. It was possible the ache between your legs was due to almost having to go a week without sex however, you knew it was mostly caused from the dream you’d been deeply invested in when the sun and the birds outside had pulled you back into consciousness; the dream had been rough hands sliding across your body, teeth and tongue scraping over sensitive skin, pulling small gasps and moans until you were nothing but a desperate mess beneath his touch.

Let the world call you lazy for not running about like a frightened ghost. Just be quiet inside yourself. Don’t bother about knowing how things should be and simply begin observing without prejudice, projections or desires. Notice how life flows of its own accord. Nothing here is a chaos, but a harmony. You are already inside this flow.

Reasons To Watch: White Collar

I think I’m going to start doing these now, because there are so many shows that I love to the moon and back, and I feel as if not many people know about them? Or maybe know the names, but haven’t actually sat down to give the shows a try.

As said, I’ll probably end up doing more in the future, but we’re starting with White Collar, here we go.

Brief Summary: The show focuses on a con man named Neal Caffrey, and FBI agent Peter Burke. Prior to the show, Peter has been chasing Neal for years, and finally he has kept him in prison for a few years. In the pilot, Neal breaks out of prison, and when Peter finds him, Neal manages to talk his way to getting an anklet rather than being put back in prison. (This, because he helps out with a case, and Peter realizes that he could be useful for several more in the future, seeing as he is so extremely talented, we find out as the show continues.) This is how the show gets started, and just about every episode is the two of them working on a different case, with several subplots that reaches for several episodes.

While I do believe that this show could have a better representation, both when it comes to racial diversity and lgbt+ characters, it doesn’t completely fail as many other, and way more famous shows seem to. Not to mention the fact that I can’t necessarily recall a single time that a character of color, or lgbt+ character has gotten seriously injured, much less killed. This show treats its characters very well.

Other, smaller reasons to watch:

  • The main character is hilarious, and portrayed by gay actor Matt Bomer.
  • In the beginning, Peter is simply annoyed by Neal’s presence (entertainingly so) but as the show continues, they build a very strong and touching friendship.
  • Black, Lesbian, FBI agent Diana Berrigan is a complete and total badass -  and stays alive throughout the entire series (Imagine that!)
  • Willie Garson. That’s it. (And beyond Willie being hilarious by himself, his character is well thought out and not only funny but smart in a way that makes him go way beyond the stereotypical ‘comical sidekick’.)
  • Peter and Elizabeth’s marriage is beautiful, as well as the friendship that she forms with Neal and Mozzie (Willie Garson) Elizabeth is just a really great character.
  • Diahann Carroll is amazing, and has a recurring character, all the way from the pilot to the series finale.

In conclusion, the entire show is just extremely well done and planned out. The series finale is absolutely mindblowing and so, so clever. This show doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

Ready To Success! The Writer’s Tool Kit

There’s a myth that writers can simply begin writing anytime and anywhere they see fit with as little as a pen and paper, but this is a pernicious lie perpetrated by the pen and paper industry. A writer cannot seriously practice this craft without each of the following items in place.

1. One notebook, slightly worn

2. One computer that hasn’t been backed up

3. Two pens without ink

4. One pen with ink, but it’s far away

5. One phone full of distracting apps

6. A chair that is painful to sit in after fifteen minutes

7. A mug of room-temperature coffee

8. One cat

9. Yawning chasm of self-doubt

10. One pair of glasses (smudgy)

11. One pair of sunglasses (if writing a screenplay)

12. Talent

13. Six more notebooks

14. Feelings (if writing a poem)

15. Eye of newt

16. A glass of water placed within inadvertent spilling distance of the computer

17. Comfortable clothing suitable for napping

18. A copy of How to Success!

19. Elbow pads, for all of the elbow resting you’ll be doing

20. Precarious stack of twelve books you own but have never read, and never will

21. One book open in the middle and placed facedown

22. Passion

23. A difficult-to-ignore ticking clock

24. The desire to do anything but write

The Puzzle

Jesus, this is a lot. Ryan’s the second most important person in this AU, and he’s bringing a lot of new shit with him to the table, and somehow this ended up being over 5K. Fucken wild. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Ryan wasn’t quite like the others.

Oh, he was immortal of course, and his immortality worked similarly to the rest of the crew’s. He would die, his body would appear back in the last place he slept, like the others did (after their initial death, of course). Except, he got there a bit differently.

As far as he could tell, the others had been born with their immortality. They would live, die, and be stuck at that age for the rest of time. He didn’t know why that happened to them, but that was how it was.

He, on the the other hand, wasn’t born with it.

He had been a champion gladiator at the height of the Roman Empire. He was the best there was, the people adored him, as did his employer.

And, also, apparently, Mars.

The god of war was impressed with his skills in battle, and offered him a deal. Eternal Life, in exchange for his services in war.

Who was he to say no?
