Today I went grocery shopping! I’m still not starting until January 1st, but I wanted to go ahead and get shopping out of the way since it’s forecast-ed to rain over the next few days. Picked up a few non-food items, which should make storing leftovers and drinking water easier (setting my goal for two of those bottles a day - the second bottle is for my partner, simply because he likes water). Got the Star Wars GLAD because partner used to work in a factory that made them. ♥
Ground Beef x4
Frozen Sugar-free Strawberries
Head of Lettuce
Romaine Leaf Stalk
Thick Cut Bologna
18 Pack Large Eggs x2
Boneless / Skinless Chicken Thighs
Monetary Jack / Cheddar Cheese Mix
Chunk Chicken Breast Can x2
Unsweetened Almond Milk
This is just the keto-friendly items I bought, while a few things for my daughter and partner are off camera (cereal, pop-tarts, tater-tots, regular milk, yoohoo, breads). Despite buying a few junk items we ended up paying OVER 100$ LESS than we normally spend for a 2-3 week period of time. We cut out some of the side junk (juices, pop, microwave foods) and I’m still confident that I can feed three with this. Honestly, looking at it, I’ll probably have some stuff left over to carry on into the next grocery trip.
I did forget a few things, though. I don’t normally include bell peppers or onions into my meals and I realise now that a lot of the flavour comes from those. This was most definitely just an introductory list while I figure out what I like, what my daughter will eat, and what my partner will tolerate. Overall I’m pretty excited and still looking forward to starting!
What's Moxie? What is a red hot dog? sincerely, a southern girl
Moxie is a soda that is super popular in Maine and you either love it (Like me <3) or hate it. Imagine a minty Dr. Pepper with an odd aftertaste that was originally branded as medicine and you have Moxie!
Red Hot Dogs have this bright red elastic casing and they make a nice snap whenever you bite into one! They taste a little porky and salty in comparison to old school beef franks but I adore them!
