Santigold served up a Flintstonian side of grade-A beef in her recent interview with Pitchfork, echoing the feelings many of us had while watching the Super Bowl Halftime Show and the Grammys. “I’m disappointed with the state of music right now, but it’s not really about anybody specific,” the enigmatic pop-hop pixie said.
She then proceeded to call out someone specific: “It’s like you don’t have to make good music to be f***ing huge…I just felt really sad that people go along with stupid wack s***. I’m sorry, but LMFAO performed at the Super Bowl? Aren’t they a joke band? That type of s*** makes me cry.”
This isn’t the first time Santi’s thrown some shade at pop titans. In her video for the aptly-titled “Big Mouth,” she vaguely mocked Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, high school burn book style. Though, Santi said that was all her director and that she’s not familiar with Gaga or Perry, which is maybe an even bigger potshot? Either way, Santi’s feisty these days, and we like it.
