becomes your destiny

OSCAR MICHEAUX (January 2, 1884 – March 25, 1951)

“Your self image is so powerful it unwittingly becomes your destiny.”

Episode One is dedicated to a filmmaker of color who traveled where there were no paved trails, laying the work fora highway that later generations like Spike Lee, Tyler Perry, Ava DuVernay, and other Black filmmakers would find themselves traveling. Creator @csrcalloway took inspiration in Micheaux’s do-it-yourself model (”There is no barrier to success which dilegence and perseverance cannot hurdle.”) when prepping “Pretty Dudes.”

Making films about economic exploitation, race, colorism, and religion, he was one of the loudest black voices in mass media, and the most prolific filmmaker of African descent from the first half of the 1900s. Controversial, highly-motivated, and dedicated to the point where when his films weren’t distributed, he took them around the country himself from theatre to theatre.

He wrote 7 novels and independently produced more than 44 films, highlighting stories on a little seen Black America. His films explored the middle class, colorism within Black communities, and race relations. His gravestone reads, “A man ahead of his time.”

“We want to see our lives dramatized on the screen as we are living it, the same as other people, the world over.”

Fallen through the cracks. Uplifted by a dagger to my throat. No choice but to stand. Broken toes. Broken hopes. Once not willing to the taste, now accepted. The waves keeps hurling. The shadows lurking. The wind dancing. The thunder rising. Anger steams through the cracks, where I stand with broken toes and a conflicted mind. Clear, become clear. Make it to wisdom. Rebuild hope. The mystic sings of signs and the wild. Where it once began. Where it once may end. The road forked so many times, for every turn there is a dead end. But nature teaches the one who listen, who watch. Beware of all the dead ends, every road. Because this will become your map to destiny.

Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words.  Keep your words positive, because your words become your behaviours.  Keep your behaviours positive, because your behaviours become your habits.  Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values.  Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny.

Watch your thoughts for they become your words. Watch your words for they become your actions. Watch your actions for they become your habits. Watch your habits for they become your character. Watch your character for they become your destiny.
Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
—  Lao-Tzu
Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
—  Lao Tzu
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

((I made this a long time ago)) instead of reblogging I’m reposting it with the same quote I used before.

“When you first went up to the surface, I feared you were not ready, but, I’ve come realize. You were not only ready to become heroes. It was your destiny” -Master Splinter.

Happy Mutation Day!

“Control is illusory. No matter what university you go to, no matter what degree you hold, if your goal is to becomes master of your own destiny, you have more to learn.”

― Michael J. Fox

You know what I just realized?

So. In the first Kingdom Hearts Riku throws a paopu fruit at Sora and says the whole lore behind it (share one and your destinies become intertwined), the game technically doesn’t say they have to EAT the fruit for it to come true.

Technically Sora and Riku shared a paopu fruit. TECHNICALLY.

It’s no wonder that they’re so wrapped up in each other. And why Sora was so much more emotional when he finally found Riku in KH2
