because you own one of hers

Sara Lance Decks Man-Hell, ft. Sanvers and SuperCanary feels

She takes risks every day.

She throws herself in front of bullets – with or without the kevlar-lining in her suit – and she’s long since learned how to stitch her own body back together.

It’s a lesson one tends to learn on that island. On that boat. In the League.

She’s long since learned how to channel fear into a cocky strut and rage into spinning kicks and blood lust into herself.

She’s long since forgotten what safety feels like.

Because when your entire life is a risk – risk of death, risk of torture, risk of rapidly-building panic, constant drowning in self-loathing, that (you hope) no one but you can detect – when your entire life is a risk, you tend to forget what it feels like not to take one.

But then there’s Kara.

She can’t quite remember, she can’t quite keep it straight in her head.

Well that’s a pun.

Can’t quite parse out how the girl with the glasses and awkward laugh and brilliant smile is also the bulletproof woman with the lowered voice and laser eyes and undefeatable stance.

Well, no.

No, that part, she can understand.

She can understand that part because when people look at Sara? When people look at Sara, they also see a helpless blonde with stars instead of the seven levels of hell in her eyes; until she starts to fight.

So she understands that part, actually: Kara and Supergirl. The contradictions, the agony of stitching them together, of keeping them apart.

Sara understands that because she lives it herself every day.

Except the flying. The flying part would be cool.

Maybe one day Kara will take her flying…

But no. No, she won’t, because she’s busy, now.

And not the kind of busy that they all are: busy saving lives, busy pretending they don’t need saving of their own, busy pretending their stitches will hold.

No, now Kara is busy with some man who’s gotten in her head and won’t leave. Some man who tells her her loves her in the same breath that he that he tells her his mistakes are her fault.

Some man who’s worn her down and shattered the light in her eyes by replacing it with his own.

And that? That, Sara understands all too well, too.

But she wishes she didn’t.

“You approve of this guy for your sister?” she leans into Alex, elbows on the table, both their eyes fixed on Kara, laughing in the guy’s arms one second, scolding him harshly for something or other the next.

“Hell no.” Alex leans over quick as anything to grab Sara’s drink and chugs deeply, and Sara knows that type of swig, the desperation behind it. The need behind it. Knows it too well from her father, from her sister.

Her sister. Her stomach lurches.

She glances at Maggie, who nods grimly, confirming Sara’s fears about Alex, about alcohol, about need. Sara gently pries the glass out of Alex’s distracted fingers.

“Why don’t you stick to your club soda there, Danvers?” she suggests gently, and Maggie smiles gratefully, softly, sadly, at her.

Alex grunts and grumbles, but clearly she and Maggie have had this talk before, because she returns to her own, non-addictive, drink sullenly.

“No, I don’t approve of him. How could I? She’s screaming at him every day, do you know she told him explicitly not to tell anyone they’d slept together and he literally made a public announcement about it at her job not five minutes later?”

“And let’s not even go there with the guilt trips,” Maggie chimes, and Sara’s blood boils.

Because Sara’s life is one risk after another.

But visiting Earth 38 because Iris and Barry told her that Kara seems to be in trouble, that Kara seems to need an extra arsenal of help disentangling herself from this web he’s created around her?

It’s one of the scariest risks she’s taken.

Because she has to watch sisters who love each other. Has to watch one watch the other suffer with a smile, and she remembers that feeling, but god, at least Kara is alive for Alex to watch.

Laurel would’ve liked Kara. Laurel would’ve killed this guy. Laurel…

“You okay, Sara?” Alex interrupts her train of thought, and she shoots back the rest of her whiskey.

“You know it’s harder for Kara to listen to you and your girl because you’re her family, right? That happens sometimes.”

She thinks of Laurel. Of her father. Hell, of Ollie, Dig, Felicity. Snart.

She shudders slightly before rising steadily.

“Lucky for her, I’m not family.”

Alex and Maggie watch with excited trepidation as Sara stands, straightens her shoulders – even at full height she’ll come up to something like his chin, and Maggie grins because she knows that or his super strength won’t matter – and struts over to the pool table, where James is rubbing his forehead and Winn is trying his best to look anywhere but his best friend as she tells her off-again-he-insists-that-it’s-on-again boyfriend that, for the hundredth time, she hates when he touches her like that in public.

“You know what I love about this earth?” Sara cuts off Kara’s needed rant, and Kara whips around with a sliver of hope in her pained, furious eyes. “That it’s got men who will let a woman defend herself, but stick around in case she asks for backup, because you know what? She can. I know a few guys like that myself.”

She thinks of Mick and Snart and their first bar brawl together, the way that Leonard grinned at her when she asked him to hold her beer, the cocky confidence they’d had in her as they watched her fight off an entire bar’s worth of men more than twice her size.

She claps Winn and James on the shoulders and gives them both a soft, genuine smile before her eyes blaze again.

“But you know the thing I can’t understand? Why other guys just can’t seem to get the meaning of the word no.”

Kara licks her lips and starts to speak, but one look into Sara’s flashing eyes keeps her quiet. Because he won’t listen to her.

He won’t listen to her, and he won’t listen to Alex, and he won’t listen to Maggie.

He listened to Winn, but only for about a minute.

But maybe he’ll listen to a former member of the League of Assassins?

Kara dares to hope, and Sara dares to breathe, because it was lust at first sight with Supergirl, and it was I-wanna-get-to-know-you-because-god-I-could-probably-fall-in-love-with-the-light-in-your-darkness with Kara.

Her boyfriend straightens up and starts to speak, starts to rage, starts to twist words into weapons that will keep Kara his.

Sara winds up, rotates her hips, and decks him clean onto the ground before he gets the chance.

James oofs and Winn puts his hand over his mouth and Kara gapes and Sara stares down at him with fists on her hips and death in her voice.

“The lady told you she doesn’t like when you touch her like that in public. So you know what you’re gonna do, since you can’t seem to stop yourself? You’re gonna leave. Now. Because you think the DEO teaches you a lot of different ways to kill people? I can do it a lot slower than Alex Danvers can.”

“That… sounded dirty,” Winn mutters, and Sara tries her best not to smirk when  James backhands him lightly on the arm as Maggie – coming over to stand behind Kara with Alex – snorts.

Kara’s boyfriend – ex, soon, Sara’s hoping, they’re all hoping, hell, Kara’s hoping – tries to object again, but Alex, Maggie, James, and Winn all turn to him with crossed arms and stony expressions. Kara’s lips part and she takes a step toward Sara, like she wants to collapse into her arms and just might if she lets herself.

“I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it again for the last time – it’s over. We’re over. We never should have even started. Sara’s right, just… just leave.”

Sara’s pulse quickens in her neck at the way Kara’s tongue wraps around her name, but she keeps her hands – and her thoughts, and her wants – to herself as she watches, as they all watch, the prince of Daxam stomp his disbelieving way out of the bar.

Brian applauds from a side-table, and Alex, Maggie, and Kara all call out at the same time.

“No one asked you, Brian.”

“Hush, Brian.”

“Don’t you have your own life to be living, Brian?”

Sara puts a tentative arm out toward Kara, and Kara leans into the touch. Maggie nudges Alex and Alex’s eyes fly wide, and Sara imagines a potential shovel talk in her near future.

She gulps, clears her throat imperceptibly, and forces words out of her throat.

“You okay?”

Kara takes a long, long moment of leaning back into Sara and reaching out for Alex’s hand to answer. “No. But I’ve got my family. So I will be.”

Sara swallows quietly and Maggie catches her eye with a smile. She knows exactly what the detective is thinking.

See? You’re family, after all. I didn’t expect it either. But isn’t it amazing?

And yes. Yes, it is.

not trying to be rude but if you think that julian is the only one who cares about caitlin why do you have a problem with them being together?

1. first off my problem is with caitlin being involved romantically with anyone this season, because the past seasons have been about her love ife, and this season looked different, it was her own storyline that she deserved and danielle asked for but ofc the writers had to ruin it and force a love interest cause apparently in that show every single woman has to be involved with someone and if they’re not then they’re just background characters or disappear.

2. it really bothers me the fact that the only person who showed some interest in her health is the one who’s now developing romantic feelings for her. I know they have this special bond of doing horrible things while not being themselves and scared of becoming those monsters again and that literally no one gives a fuck about them to the point to push them towards their nightmare and probably traumatize them more than they already are, but why couldn’t they be a m/f relationship in which both of them actually care about each other without developing romantic feelings?

3. gonna be honest, them being together means julian has 99,9% chances of dying

4. julian’s gay stop trying to force heterosexuality on him #freetom

Because she got a few of her fathers “powers” she can take his pain away(no more pain Ivar,I still get chills with that) And he truly loves her!She cant harm another, which is why she became a healer and Ivar is ALWAYS with her ,he relies on her opinion for everything”

You are the sister to the sons of Aslaug, your mother and Ragnar, your surrogate father. When you were born, it was clear to everyone that you are not Ragnar’s child. Everyone knows who your father is, and your mother is ashamed of it. Your father, Harbard had conceived you with your mother before leaving. The only reason your mother really kept you around was for you are a girl, she had always wanted a daughter and you have your father’s powers. You have never met your real father, nor do you wish to meet him. Even though you are the child of his wife’s unloyalty, Ragnar treats you as his own. If you ask his sons, they will say that he loves you more than he will ever love them.

When Bellamy returned to Arkadia, and Kane was out there waiting for him, was I the only one screaming at my TV, "Hug him! Hug him!" Maybe this is a personal problem . . . Also, Clarke had a "moment" watching Memori being all cute together. Like she was embarrassed/wanted that, too. And then there she is looking at a bed and her own reflection in the mirror. I'm sorry - this is being set up for Bellarke. I see you, JR. You think you're savvy, but I see you.

You’re not the only one with the Kane-Bellamy moment. Bellamy wasn’t really feeling happy dad vibes though. His emotional support didn’t negate his trauma, or Kane convincing Bellamy to sacrifice those guys lives for Bellamy’s own. Or his mother. Maybe it doesn’t go away.

And Clarke watching Memori? Girl was JEALOUS. Not of Murphy, because of what they had. She wants that too. She’s never had it, has she? Not with any of her partners. Omg. I have to watch that bedroom scene again, I did not see all that. I’m telling you, her head is far more into Bellamy now than Bellamy is into her. I think he knew she was Niylah, and after he steered away from Clarke after the list scene, he’d just rather think about saving everyone.

But he’s kind of fed up with that, now, too. MAYBE HE’S DONE WITH THAT!!!!! Maybe the next time he sees Clarke he won’t want to put aside his needs for the mission anymore!

I'm literally only on the first season of the flash and I can already tell that Barry and Iris are in love and going to end up together. Why are people so delusional?

BUDDY!!! PAL!!! YOU GET ME????? these people are trying to go against decades of comic book canon???? barry has never been able to have a successful relationship with any other woman because of his feelings for iris, he’s been in love with her since day one, and while iris took way longer to sort through her feelings, her own father is like yeah buddy don’t worry you’ll get there. LIKE???? barry and iris are best friends, partners, they’re each other’s home, their safe space. barry constantly talks about how iris is the very reason the flash even exists, how he keeps going every single day. grant and candice have never once hinted that any other ship could ever be endgame, that it’s always been and always will be barry and iris.

like!!! LIKE!!!!

anyway wow sorry to vent on you like that i hope you enjoy the show as you go further!!! it has its bad moments but overall i really think the flash is such a fun, pure show.

21 for Zoe and Conner! Platonic please! 😊

“I’m bulletproof…but please, don’t shoot me.” by @neglectedrainbow. my inbox is still open, so feel free to send me more prompts, and thank you so much for this one!

“Where the hell did you put my black nail polish?” She pounds on the door of Connor’s room. “I don’t understand why you just don’t buy your own damn nail polish!” She shouts, banging harder. Her words are probably pointless, as Connor’s probably passed out on his bed right now from smoking too much.

Normally she doesn’t care, because she very rarely uses any nail polish to begin with. But one of her friends wants to wear it for some roundabout, absurd method of pissing off her parents, so Zoe was tasked with going out and finding it. She bangs on the door again, before pressing her ear against the wood. She hears padded footsteps with just enough time to pull back before the door swings open. “What.”

She barges into Connor’s room, sniffing disdainfully as the smell of weed fills her nostrils. “I need the black nail polish.”

Connor slinks past her, rummaging around in his bedside cabinet while Zoe surveys the room. In comparison to previous visits, she’ll admit that it’s much less of a mess than previously. “Here,” Connor hands her the small bottle before laying back down on the bed, rubbing his eyes slowly.

“You know, Mom’s gonna come in here and smell all this and she’s gonna-”

“I know,” Connor interrupts, running a single hand through his long mass of curls. “I know. She’s gonna be disappointed, like always, and I’m gonna be the family failure again, but I just really, really don’t care, Zo.” The childhood nickname reemerges.

Zoe shakes her head, “You could just stop smoking so much, maybe.”

“Look.” Connor sits up with what seems like an immense amount of effort. “I’m bulletproof…but please, don’t shoot me.”

Blinking, Zoe protests, “What does that even-”

“It means,” Connor huffs, “that I know I’m a disappointment, and I know I’m gonna keep on being one, I know that, I do, and I really do not fucking care. I’d just prefer if you’d stop reprimanding me for things that, one, Dad’s gonna fucking get on my case about in two hours anyway and, two, that I don’t wanna deal with. Okay?”

“Fine,” Zoe huffs. “I won’t, then.”

“Perfect,” Zoe grits out, before deflating. “Connor-”

“Connor, listen, for just a second. Just…” she holds up the black bottle, “thanks.”

Her brother nods slowly, his eyes weary, as she walks out of his room. “Thank you, too,” he whispers in reply, too quietly for her to hear.

Might i ask how you find your face claims?

If you mean how I decide on who I want my characters to resemble, usually what it is is that I have a general idea of how I want my character to look (face shape, sweet or serious looking, ethnicity, etc), then I go to Google Images and type in something like “Actresses/models with/who are _____”.

In Kallen’s case (just as an example), I wanted to make her East Asian with a longer face (because most of the elves in DA have a longer or narrow face). So I looked for Chinese actresses on Google, went through the list (Google will often have their own list when you look up different actresses, but you can also check imdb), then browsed through several photos of each actress one-by-one to see if they kind of fit with what I have in mind for Kallen.

Eventually I found Li Bingbing and saw she had the right face I was looking for, but what really won me over was Li’s smile. Like, she just has such a perfect smile that really fits with Kallen’s friendly and enthusiastic personality.

Sometimes it’s really fast and easy (like with Chloe), other times it takes me forever (like with Etain, and even she’s got two actresses because I really couldn’t decide).

It’s also important to keep in mind that I don’t really ever make my characters look 100% like their faceclaims. I mean, Tara has green eyes despite her faceclaim having brown, and Alaia’s hair is red even though her faceclaim has black hair. Like I said, my characters are mean to kind of resemble their faceclaims, not be a clone (which I don’t think is how faceclaims work, but w/e xD).

IMO Caroline actually has very salient, consistent strengths and flaws, unlike Elena or Bonnie or most of the male characters. But you're one of those people who arrogantly states all of your opinions as fact, so there's no point on debating with you.

If there’s no point then why did you even bother coming into my inbox? I’m legitimately sick of anons who feel the need to come into my inbox and get mad at me because I’m confident about my opinions on my own blog, like should I not be confident in what I say? Should I have to state, In my opinion Caroline is a weak character because in my opinion I don’t see her grow past season 2 because in my opinion she’s a weak character because in my opinion? A quick FYI for non pacific islanders for Moana
  • Even though you only know Hawaiians doesn’t mean she’s just Hawaiian, and yes, there are more islanders than just Hawaiians.
  • Her name isn’t Mo-wah-nuh, its Mo-AH-NAH. Honestly don’t even get me started on this one.
  •  Polynesian isn’t a language. Polynesia is a large group of islands that have their own distinct language, rich culture, and customs. There’s Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti, Hawaii, Easter Islands, etc…
  •  Moana isn’t one race she’s everything mixed into one because there are too many cultures to just base her off of just one island.
  • Maui, as you might have guessed isn’t based off of just one legend either.
  • Maui’s “War Dance” is called the Haka and they do that dance to scare their enemies before battle.
  • Fun fact: Moana means Ocean
  • Please don’t group all of the Pacific Islanders and their cultures into one.
  • Another Fun fact: Pacific Islanders are some of the best navigators of the Ocean to have ever lived. There has even been evidence of them being the first to travel to America. sorry not sorry Columbus.

What people who aren’t victims of parental abuse don’t realize is that we’ll talk about our abusive parent like “I fucking HATE MY MOM so much, she should be in prison, etc” then 5 seconds later be like “well she’s trying her hardest, she doesn’t mean it” “My mom just bought me ___ she’s so cool”

Because with most of us our mentality is “that’s still my mother” and having mixed signals of love and hate thrown at you from your own mother since you been born is confusing and scary. Sometimes we can’t help but forgive her over and over. Especially if you have no one else.

About Sangwoo’s motive for murder

BTS You Never Walk Alone - Spring Day MV Theory: The Untold Story

by: @sugasuite (edited: 170222 for pt 7)

Whose story is often unheard and untold?

The Discriminated… The Minorities…

When Kim Namjoon said You Never Walk Alone was the Untold Story… He wasn’t kidding. BigHit has done it again! Though this MV also fit the story of the boys’ journey, they still managed to discuss an underlying controversial issue.

In case you haven’t read the story… Here is a rundown

First of all, let me say, this story is riveting in both its simplicity and complexity; and you could finish it in less than 15 minutes. The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is an award winning short story written by Ursula Le Guin. The story starts with the narrator describing a utopian place called Omelas as the Summer Festival starts. Everything about the city is idealistic and the narrator even invites the reader to imagine his/her own utopian scenario and imagine that to be Omelas because Omelas’ perfection and happiness was hard to simply describe. The narrator claims that the people of Omelas were not stupid, that this was not the reason why they were happy, but he also states that the people of Omelas lived without guilt.

As vague and hard as it was for the narrator to describe Omelas, her description of the small, frail impoverished child was vivid. People of Omelas knew about the child’s existence, locked in a small basement but none of them helped or saved the child. The narrator believes that the child served as reminder for the people of a world opposite to what they have. The absence of the child makes what they have pointless and therefore the child’s existence was poignant for their system.

The more incredible part though, the part that got the narrator amazed, were the people who left Omelas. Those who chose to walk alone away from the surfaced perfection toward the unknown when they have seen the child.

In the MV you can see how their initial excitement of being in Omelas slowly changed. As if taking in what Omelas truly was.

Kookie goes to the desolate Omelas where ironically the No Vacancy sign was still lit. Like how minorities are refused entry when clearly there is still room.

In the end, unlike in the book where the citizens who face the realities of Omelas left alone, they all left Omelas together.

Snowpiercer was a movie released in 2013. in the movie, the world was set into an infernal winter after an experiment to solve global warming backfires. The remaining survivors were those on board the Snowpiercer. By 2031, segregation was eminent. Elites inhabit the extravagant front cars and the “scum” inhabit the tail in squalid and brutal conditions. Under watch by guards, they are brought only gelatinous protein bars to eat and kept in their place in the social order by Minister Mason, while sometimes small children are taken away.

Kinda Hunger Games-ish huh?

Rebellion broke out because it seemed like the oppressed have finally had enough. Many died due to the rebellious attacks and the head of the keeper of the peace for the Snowpiercer told the leader of the revolution that it was he who planned the rebellion to reduce the population and maintain the balance of the sealed ecosystem, and subsequently orders the elimination of 74% of the remaining tail passengers. He explains the importance of using fear and chaos to maintain a necessary order and leadership on the train.

The leader of the revolution almost accepted the offer of the head peace keeper to lead what remained of the Snowpiercer but decided to continue the fight when he learned that small children from the tail section are being trapped as replacement parts for “extinct” machinery and that those in the tail section were literally being kept alive for spare parts.

In the end, an explosion happens that causes an avalanche. The train gets derailed and only two survive, one girl and one boy. They alight the train and see a polar. They learn that life was actually possible outside the oppressive train.

In the MV, Kookie and RM is shown riding the train but they keep entering the doors at the back. The train traverses a snowy terrain.

When the line stops, they all go down together and see a dying tree amidst a grassy field. It was the only semblance of life present, but it was enough to hang their shoe on it and mark the place as theirs.

“#Safetypin I’m an ally… All those exposed to hate and violence, you’re not alone….”

No, it’s not a fashion statement, there is a deeper meaning.

4.     Laundromat/ Segregation: RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

Honestly, where else can the term segregation be used that seems publicly acceptable?

Whites separated from colored.

This reminded me of a racial case I studied in law school, Yick Wo vs Hopkins 118 U.S. 356 (1886) (Who the F? would have thought I’d use that shit here?)

The immigration of Chinese to California began in 1850 at the beginning of the Gold Rush. As the Chinese became more successful, tensions with Americans grew. Californians were wary of the cultural and ethnic differences.

Yick Wo, was a laundry facility owned by Sang Lee. After twenty years of owning the facility as an undocumented immigrant, provisions set out by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors said that he could not continue to run his business due to an ordinance that was evidently racially targeted against all Chinese business owners.

This case was the first case where the United States Supreme Court ruled that a law that is race-neutral on its face, but is administered in a prejudicial manner, is an infringement of the Equal Protection Clause in the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

In the MV you can see that the blacks and whites inside were mixed. Whites, Blacks, toss it in! They’re one and the same.

5.     Mountain of Clothes: ALL EQUAL!

In 2010, Christian Boltanski created a 40-foot-tall art installation at the Park Avenue Armory.

For Boltanski, clothes are simply a placeholder for 6000 real human beings who lived real lives. He told a journalist, “In my work there have always been a lot of photos of people, heartbeats of people—for me the clothing are people.” The magnitude of the pile illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost.

In this work, Boltanski said that the mountain was an eternal afterlife of sorts, where every individual rests after death. In Boltanski’s view, we are all mixed together in death, no longer the distinct individuals we were in life. We become part of a great pile, individual pieces that have lost their minute details — a single, colossal entity.

This piece of art has been made in various cities all over the world.

BTS made themselves part of this mountain, a symbol of unity in lives lost due to discrimination.

6.     Nods to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy: INJUSTICE

So many questions about these shoes. What I know… Jimin picked it up from the shore… and looked pale, kinda like he drowned.

It could honestly have so many meanings…

But given that this is an injustice close to their hearts, they might be giving nods to the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

The Sewol Ferry was a passenger ferry that capsized on 16 April 2014, killing 304 of the 476 people on board. More than 300 passengers were Danwon High School pupils on an organised trip, but only 75 students survived.

Months later, the captain of the ferry escaped the death penalty and has instead been sentenced to 36 years in jail for his role in the tragedy.

Prosecutors had demanded the death penalty and before the trial even started, President Park Geun-hye made a public statement condemning the crew’s action, saying that their decision to abandon ship had been “tantamount to murder”. The sentence means that the captain, aged 69, is likely to spend the rest of life in jail.

In December 2016, it was brought to light that 9000 artists were discriminated and blacklisted for criticizing the government and having a dissenting opinion in the Sewol case. In January, media leaked that Bangtan and Bighit donated money to the families of the Sewol family victims.

In the end of the video, Jimin is again looking sullen and holding the shoes. He was looking at the tree as if deciding what to do with it.

Another symbolism with a lot of interpretations in the video is the “shoes on the wire”. One other possible meaning for this is to give honor to the memory of a life lost.

7. The Yellow Ribbon: Symbol of Hope and Unity

The yellow ribbon has been used as a symbol of hope all over the world for a multitude of causes. From the desire for the return of American hostages held in Tehran between 1979 and 1981 to a fight against a dictatorship from a 21 year long regime in the Philippines in 1986.

The L finger symbol stood for the Filipino word “LABAN” which means FIGHT

For some it became a symbol of home coming and being reunited, hence the famous English song with lines that go, “Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree”. It symbolizes the hope of freedom, justice and return. This yellow ribbon has held different meanings to different groups of people but in all those times, it served one purpose, to be a symbol of unity for those part of a cause.

In South Korea, the yellow ribbon started as a symbol of hope for the return of 9 missing children from the Sewol Ferry Tragedy but it slowly grew to be more than that. It served as a reminder that the families that sought justice did not stand alone. The government slowly saw this as a symbol of rebellion and defiance. In truth, it sent a silent but unified message against the people who were the source of the injustice committed.

In the MV, you see Kookie having sole awareness (my obnoxious way of saying he was dead ass staring at the camera) while everyone was a moving blur.

After a while, he seemed to slowly realize that everyone else was moving around him and he joins the crowd.

Two possible meanings. First, the pessimistic view, is that Kookie was the one aware of the issues but no one else was. Everyone else was going about their own business and eventually Kookie joined the crowd…

The second possible meaning? The one I prefer. The more optimistic view, is that due to the movement of everyone around him, Kookie became aware of the need to move and act and joined the movement for the yellow ribbon cause.

Though sometimes you feel like you stand alone in the crowd fighting for something… look around, look closely… there are more people who understand your plight. Never stop moving. Eventually, if your cause is truly powerful, more people will move with you.

Bangtan’s message was clear. For those who suffered injustice or have been discriminated against for being part of a minority, we know your untold stories. Your road may be unknown but YOU NEVER WALK ALONE

From the Book: The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas

Each one goes alone, youth or girl man or woman. Night falls; the traveler must pass down village streets, between the houses with yellow-lit windows, and on out into the darkness of the fields. Each alone, they go west or north, towards the mountains.

“They go on. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

From The Movie Inception:

Cobb: You’re waiting for a train. A train that’ll take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you. But you can’t know for sure. Yet it doesn’t matter. Now, tell me why?
Mal: Because we’ll be together!

See the difference? :)

However, as one Twitter user observed, Trump’s own pick for attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions, who is awaiting confirmation, had once advised Yates to defy a president’s orders “if the views the president wants to execute are unlawful.”

The tweet, showing Sessions’ advising Yates to do the very thing Trump just fired her for, has since gone viral.

During Yates’ 2015 confirmation hearing for deputy attorney general, Sessions told Yates, “You have to watch out because people will be asking you do things you just need to say no about.”

“Do you think the attorney general has the responsibility to say no to the president if he asks for something that’s improper?”

Sessions gave an example of then-President Obama nominating Loretta Lynch as the attorney general.

“A lot of people have defended the Lynch nomination, for example, by saying that ‘Well, he appoints someone who’s going to execute his views. What’s wrong with that?’ But if the views the president wants to execute are unlawful, should the attorney general say no?” Sessions asked Yates.

Yates responded, “Senator, I believe the attorney general or the deputy attorney general has the obligation to follow the law and the constitution and to give their independent legal advice.”

Sessions also told Yates that it “shouldn’t take you too long to say, ‘No, this isn’t right’” to the president.

Okay, but Molly Hooper has once again put herself aside for other people. It must have absolutely destroyed her to say those words to Sherlock.  You could see it in her eyes.  They framed her face literally in the middle of the frame, looking straight at us, to SHOW US that we were seeing her from Sherlock’s own eyes, to show us how much it hurt her to say that, and how much it hurt him.

Every single time Molly wants to run to Sherlock, she CANT.

I am dying for Molly because she is the least selfish person in this wreck of a world that exists around Sherlock.  She deserves so much love, and yet…she gives it to everyone else and no one gives it back to her.

Please love Molly Hooper.

Friendly Reminder

*cracks knuckles it’s bout time I do one* In QoS, when Aelin and Rowan kiss she says
“Just once. I want to kiss you” and before of course we thought she said this line because she liked him etc and she wanted that one thing.

But we know at this stage Aelin knew they were mates. Aelin said it, not for her own personal gain, but because she wanted to know what it was like to kiss your mate.

And she wanted to know if it was the same feeling she got when she kissed Sam.

My dear lgbt+ children,

Many messages i get on this blog are things like “My family says homophobic things but i’m still in the closet, i don’t know what to do”,

My best friend uses transphobic slurs but how do i tell her that it hurts me without telling her i am trans? I can’t come out yet”

or other variants of “How to react to lgbt+-phobia when still in the closet?”.

I’ve been planning to write a letter that answers this question for a while now - but to be honest, i postponed it because it’s a difficult situation to be in and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. There’s not the one golden perfect solution to it.

Instead, i’ll suggest several different possible solutions as you know your own situation and your family member/friend/the person better than i do.

Without further bla bla, here’s the list:

Possible ways to react to lgbt+-phobia when you’re in the closet:

Example: Person says “I would never date a bi girl, they’re cheaters”

Educate neutrally: “Bi means you’re attracted to two or more genders, it has nothing to do with faithfulness”, state a neutral fact that dismantles the lgbt+phobic statement without talking about yourself at all

May work best if: the person is indeed just uneducated about lgbt+ topics (rather than downright hateful), is okay with being proven wrong, is not overly suspicious of why you defend lgbt+ people (in case them finding out you are lgbt+ would put you in danger)

Play the “good straight ally” card: “That’s not true, one of my friends is bi and she would never cheat”, out yourself as a supporter rather than a member of the lgbt+ community

May work best if: the person doesn’t know all your friends/you can easily make up a friend, the person is one of those people who stop being hateful as soon as their victim has a face

Ignore and change the topic: “Talking about cheating, have you seen the movie You’ve got mail? It’s a romantic comedy, Sarah said it’s really cute but i didn’t watch it yet.”, say nothing in response to the lgbt+-phobia and try to steer the conversation to nicer topics

May work best if: they are too deep down in their hateful views for any of the above strategies to work, defending lgbt+ people would put you in danger

Avoid the person: This is less of a instant response but more a long-term solution that can only work in some cases. Break off the friendship (maybe gently and slowly by spending less and less time with the person).

Only works if: you don’t depend on them (sadly this doesn’t work with parents you still live with or co-workers in a job you can’t quit)

May be necessary if: their lgbt+ phobia negatively impacts your mental health

Agree and silently think “F*ck you”: “Yeah, i understand!”, just agree and keep your thoughts to yourself

This is a painful thing to do and can certainly negatively impact your mental health but it may be necessary if: them finding out or even getting suspicious puts you in danger

Do you have any other advice? Feel free to add your thoughts/experiences to this post!

With all my love,

Your Tumblr Mom

As a Syrian immigrant who comes from a globally scattered family of more immigrants, refugees, and those still stuck in the unsteady haven of Damascus:
fuck EVERY Trump supporter.

As a Syrian immigrant whose mother spent all last night weeping because she hasn’t seen her own mother or (now deceased) father in over a decade and now will indefinitely never be able to do so:
fuck EVERY “centrist” who claimed Hillary Clinton was just as bad.

You have singlehandedly allowed a poorly tanned FACIST destroy not only my family’s life but millions of others in even poorer and more desperate conditions with ONE FUCKING SIGNATURE.

We have not learned from history.
We are still stupidly repeating it.
