because we cannot get enough of them

This is how I’ll love you: like the night sky holding on to her brightest stars so they won’t fall, like a lighthouse safely guiding her sailors home, like a flower rising toward her sun, like the wave gently lapping against her shore, like a flame igniting, burning herself over and over again for the one she loves.

This is how you’ll love me: from a distance, close enough to touch, but never close enough to let yourself get hurt. Never close enough to let me in. Walking on eggshells, tiptoeing around your feelings like there was a way for you to avoid catching them.

This is how we’ll end: I ask you to meet me halfway, but you never show up. I ask you to tell me what you want but you never know yourself. I ask you to let me go because I cannot stay for someone who does not know for sure if he wants me to. So we end how we began. But, tell me, if there was no beginning, how can there ever be an end? If all we did was go in circles, how can we stop?

dreamermoonchan  asked:

So, you know I'm rather new to the fandom, and this will be my first comeback, and I want to do anything I can to help make this comeback a success for our boys. Can you tell me what I can do? like I dont know if I will be able to buy the album, but what other things can I do and where? Thanks~

Sure thing! I’ll give you some basics of what a typical comeback is like for fans! I hope this info is helpful for all BABYz and thanks to the awesome BABYz who provided tutorials for all of these methods!

Social Media

The easiest method is to just promote BAP as much as possible for every comeback. Whether it’s Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat, introducing BAP to other K-Pop fans as well as people who are not into K-pop is seriously so helpful. The more we talk about BAP, the more exposure they’ll get, which will lead to more fans and more opportunities for BAP in the future!

I cannot stress this enough when I say that when discussing BAP on social media PLEASE keep your posts and comments positive. Talk about how great the songs are, how perfect the MV is, write about OT6′s flawless singing and dancing, etc; however, DON’T make negative posts criticizing BAP/BABYz/other fandoms because it really reflects back on BAP. DON’T start rumors or spread them, DON’T post or repost negative comments/posts from others, and DON’T write negative comments directly to BAP on sns. Also, even though we all can agree TS sucks, it’s clear that they go out of their way to avoid any concerns from BABYz. Even though it’s frustrating, before you send them emails, call their offices, or threaten to fly to Korea and punch every employee at TS in the face, PLEASE think of what your words/actions will do to BAP. We don’t know what truly goes on with BAP and TS, so it’s best to remain positive and focuse on promoting the boys and patiently waiting for news from TS and then we can punch everyone if they fuck up as usual :D

Physical Albums

Even though you’re still unsure about buying a physical copy of the album, if you do end up deciding it’s best to buy from stores whose sales count towards charts, such as Gaon and Hanteo. Preordering is also really important for sales within the first week, so here are a few verified stores for each chart in addition to TS Ent.’s official store:

Hanteo: KPopTown, KpopMart, YesAsia (there is a global site and US site, this is the global site link)

Gaon: Melon, MNet

Searching

Searching for BAP online will actually help them gain exposure and hype about their comeback. Simply go on the Naver website or app, type in “BAP ROSE”, click on and share articles on your social media, clear your history, and repeat!

There are also search attacks that we do, in which there are scheduled times for BABYz to search about BAP on Naver in order to get them trending. If you check BAPdomination on Twitter, they post the schedules and search words for each day.

Voting

Voting will help BAP win on music programs, as well as for appearances on various variety shows (which will increase their exposure and popularity). The Vote4BAP Twitter provides info for where streaming/voting can be done.

You can vote for BAP on Show Champion, Inkigayo, Music Bank, Music Core, and MNet Countdown using the tutorials provided by BABYz.

Streaming

Streaming allows for digital sales, which count for roughly 50% of votes on music shows. In order to stream, you need to purchase passes on sites like Genie or Melon.

Melon

Melon streaming can seem intimidating, but there are literally soooo many wonderful BABYz who are always offering to help set up an account, or even stream for you (a lot of BABYz actually advertise this kind of help on Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram so make sure to stay on your social media grind during comebacks!). In order to stream on Melon, you need to create and account and either use your PC or dowload the mobile app. There’s a document that BABYz made that explains the whole process along with an FAQ if you have any trouble.

TS YouTube Channel

You can also stream the official MV on TS Ent.’s YouTube channel (it’s best to watch the MVs on TS’s channel even though 1theK also posts the MV and has more subscribers [which means more exposure] but really focus on TS’s channel first and foremost. Stream in 720p or above, like/comment/share the MV on all social medias, watch the full MV without pausing AND at a volume above 50%. Also DON’T click replay or refresh the page; instead, play the video incognito or clear your history. You can also create a playlist of just the MV so that it continuously loops.

Tudou

Streaming can also be done on Tudou to help BAP win on THE SHOW. Open this link in incognito mode and click the orange button beside the ROSE MV. You don’t have to watch the whole MV ~ there are two lines when the video loads: orange and gray. Let the gray line load fully after you press play and that counts as a stream. Make sure you don’t mute the video while it’s playing, otherwise it doesn’t count. As always, delete your history/cookies and try from all devices and computers.

Naver TV Cast

Finally, streaming can be done on Naver TV cast, but the options listed above tend to be the most used by fans (especially Tudou - BAP tend to win a lot on THE SHOW since it’s a system solely based on the input of fans’ streaming, but it has been known to be messy sometimes when counting votes so NEVER STOP STREAMING lol).

Fancafe/Daum tutorial

itsBAP actually has a tutorial to make an account to join BAP’s official fanclub, in case anyone was interested in this option as well!

Of course, there are so many ways to support BAP in their comebacks, but above all just being a loyal BABY is the best support you can give! Let’s all work together to make this comeback a success and make 2017 BAP’s year! Fighting! ♡

please, please, please don’t send these horrible girls any messages on any social media or get into contact with them in any way. what they did was disgusting, yes, but it doesn’t concern us fans in any way - it’s between Louis, Eleanor, these girls and the law. it’s hard to see happen and not do anything but we shouldn’t involve ourselves because it won’t help or quicken the pace of anything happening.

i cannot stress this enough when i say it; please, please, PLEASE do not contact these girls because it could lead to much more worse things in the future.

Revenge

Since you mention it, I think I will start that race war.

I could’ve swung either way? But now I’m definitely spending
the next 4 years converting your daughters to lesbianism;
I’m gonna eat all your guns. Swallow them lock stock and barrel
and spit bullet casings onto the dinner table;

I’ll give birth to an army of mixed-race babies.
With fathers from every continent and genders to outnumber the stars,
my legion of multiracial babies will be intersectional as fuck
and your swastikas will not be enough to save you,

because real talk, you didn’t stop the future from coming.
You just delayed our coronation.
We have the same deviant haircuts we had yesterday;
we are still getting gay-married like nobody’s business
because it’s still nobody’s business;
there’s a Muslim kid in Kansas who has already written the schematic
for the robot that will steal your job in manufacturing,
and that robot? Will also be gay, so get used to it:

we didn’t manifest the mountain by speaking its name,
the buildings here are not on your side just because
you make them spray-painted accomplices.
These walls do not have genders and they all think you suck.
Even the earth found common cause with us
the way you trample us both,

oh yeah: there will be signs, and rainbow-colored drum circles,
and folks arguing ideology until even I want to punch them
but I won’t, because they’re my family,
in that blood-of-the-covenant sense.
If you’ve never loved someone like that
you cannot outwaltz us, we have all the good dancers anyway.

I’ll confess I don’t know if I’m alive right now;
I haven’t heard my heart beat in days,
I keep holding my breath for the moment the plane goes down
and I have to save enough oxygen to get my friends through.
But I finally found the argument against suicide and it’s us.
We’re the effigies that haunt America’s nights harder
the longer they spend burning us,
we are scaring the shit out of people by spreading,
by refusing to die: what are we but a fire?
We know everything we do is so the kids after us
will be able to follow something towards safety;
what can I call us but lighthouse,

of course I’m terrified. Of course I’m a shroud.
And of course it’s not fair but rest assured,
anxious America, you brought your fists to a glitter fight.
This is a taco truck rally and all you have is cole slaw.
You cannot deport our minds; we won’t
hold funerals for our potential. We have always been
what makes America great.

I'm just gonna be honest and say that there are jobs for disabled people. There's work for everyone. We shouldn't pay people to do nothing, that's just a waste of tax dollars and it decreases the desire of people to actually work. If someone is too disabled to move, they can have a job that doesn't require moving, maybe answering phones/designing websites/office job. There's a niche for every single person, and people who claim they shouldn't have to work are just kidding themselves.

So if someone is “too disabled to move,” then they should just get a job that requires them to… fucking move. As if these examples you give are 1. For everyone 2. Available 3. Don’t require transportation 4. Don’t require a degree and/or a specific skill set (seriously web design??) 5. Are will to work with the needs of a worker with disabilities.

Like… lots of people with disabilities DO work. They work because they can, they want to, the need to, they like to, and whatever reason people normally have for working. But some people cannot fucking work, like why is this a big deal for you? As if we don’t have enough resources in this fucking world to assist all people and their needs?

Hell, my dad alone is an example of someone who cannot work, he lost his vision and shakes extremely bad. So please tell me what’s his niche job that he now gets assigned according to your rules? He can’t drive, he can’t see, he can’t do most things without assistance, he can’t hold his phone or dial the numbers because he shakes so bad, etc. So yeah I’d love to hear what he’s supposed to do in order for him to be acceptable for you. And if he doesn’t have the skill set or knowledge of this example, he can just easily learn it, right?

Anyways we get it you think that people need to earn money in order to be worthy enough to live because you’re an ableist piece of shit and you sound like a fucking eugenicist to say the least.

anonymous asked:

What Richonne moment makes you smile the most and just warms your heart?

Listen, I cannot properly emphasize just how hard it was to choose just one moment out of the many we’ve been lucky enough to get these last few years. Like, I really just looked through a small collection of my favorite gifs and I wanted to chose all of them. But ultimately, I landed on this moment, because I think it just embodies Richonne.

It’s a perfect visual representation of how these two people are equals. How they’re connected to one another, figuratively, but also literally. And their nakedness speaks to how they can be vulnerable with one another. But their weapons are in the frame and at their sides, symbolizing that they haven’t lost the warriors within them. They’re still exactly who they were, they’re just together now. And on a superficial note, they just look fucking good together. This brief, wordless scene looks like a picture, and I stare every time I see it, because it tells you everything you need to know about this couple.

Imagine you have an exam coming up for your maths class and you’ve been given a practice test to sit through. After doing the test, you get your graded paper back and you have gotten less than half of the questions correct. Now imagine you’re disappointed but instead of a breakdown you are able learn from the experience. Is it magic?

Nobody enjoys failure. It literally means you didn’t succeed in something - and who wants that?? I did a whole degree in maths, and the whole subject is essentially failing over and over again until something clicks and it seems like it should have been obvious to you the whole time. In mathematics, failure is not necessarily a bad thing, so here are some things I have learnt:

Persisting with something after repeatedly getting it wrong

Every time you try to learn something new, you fail over and over again. I’d imagine most people would want to skip this step, but if you learn something without failing, did you actually learn it or did you already know it?

In maths you do problem after problem and in a lot of cases it can be frustrating when you continue to get something wrong. If you do stick it out, and keep trying until you get it right, ta-da, you have persistence my friend. This helps you not only with maths, but with life in general. Get back up and keep trying.

Finding new ways to solve a problem

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” - Albert Einstein

When you get stuck on a problem, it is easy to trick yourself into thinking it’s impossible because of course there is only one way to solve it right? In high school maths especially, you are usually only taught one way to solve a particular set of problems, but often enough there are multiple ways to do it. Do some research or try something new, what’s the worst that can happen?* Look at the problem from different angles and experiment.

*If you’re doing a test or assignment and you’re instructed to use method X to solve the problem, use method X!

Getting stuck and realising it’s not the end of the world

You may be sick to death of a particular problem after it trying it 1034234 times. That’s okay. You’re probably not the only one. It’s okay if you can’t solve every problem by yourself, many things require collaboration or assistance from others. Ask your teacher or someone else that might be able to help you out - it’s not the end of the world!

Seeing other people succeed and knowing that it’s possible for you too

It can be frustrating to see other people understanding something that you’re having trouble with. You might think “only people smarter than me can understand this”. This is so not true! Instead, try to change your point of view. Since some of your peers can understand this, then solving this problem or understanding this particular concept is not impossible. Ask them what they did to get where they are, or study a little harder - you can do it!

Learning from mistakes

If you spent 10 hours trying to solve a problem, find the proper solution and then realise you’ve been doing it wrong the whole time, I guarantee you will never make the same mistake again. Don’t get angry at yourself when this happens - it wasn’t a waste. This has happened to me more times than I can count and whenever I see the same or similar problems I can more easily remember what to do. If I had solved the problem easily to begin with, it wouldn’t be etched into my mind.

RvB Rec Day

I have a theme this month and it is SIDEWINDER. Because I absolutely cannot ever read enough versions of how the Reds & Blues decided to adopt an ex-Freelancer, or how Wash felt when he woke up and found he was being adopted.

(If you know of any gen Sidewinder fics that aren’t on this list, MESSAGE ME PLZ. I want to read them all.)

Not Like This by @darkfrog24 (Gen, 2.3k)

“Look, if you want a diabolical master plan with contingencies and secret alien tunnels, you should probably stick with Project Freelancer. ‘Switch the thing with the other thing’ is about as advanced as we get.”

So this one is Wash’s POV on waking up, and it just…beautifully captures how utterly gobsmacked he is by the situation. How being helped is such a foreign thing to him, it nearly makes him short-circuit. Also it has great voices for Tucker and Caboose, and Grif gets his arms stuck in two different vending machines, so there is nothing not to like about it.

Extend the Olive Branch by @silvokrent (Gen, 7.5k)

"We can’t just leave him out here to die! It would make us no better than…well, him. And I technically can’t turn away an injured soldier since I took an oath. Besides,” Doc said, “I don’t want to have his blood on my hands.”

“Son, you already have Wash’s blood on your hands!” Sarge gave an ominous chuckle.

Oh. Right. From coming into contact with the bloodied armor.

Canonically, all we know about the Reds and Blues deciding to help Wash is that Caboose kept asking “Can we keep him?” So one thing that’s really interesting to me about Sidewinder fics is seeing which characters push to save him, and which ones have to be persuaded. In this fic, it’s Doc, and it’s great because you get to see him being a (mostly) decent medic. There’s also a fantastic part for Caboose, who gets to say so much more than just “Can we keep him?”

Bah Humbug by @momfrienddonut (Gen, 3.6k)

Epsilon’s avatar shrugged. “Look man, I don’t know. All I know is that you royally fucked up, and I’m supposed to send you on some kind of soul searching journey so you don’t end up like me.”

“Trapped in a memory unit?”

“I was thinking more along the lines of alone, isolated, and responsible for the pain of people who could help me, but yeah let’s go with that.”

So far as I know, this is the first Christmas Carol remix fic in the fandom. Which is kind of surprising, given RvB’s themes of memory, ghosts, alternate selves, and nightmare simulations. ANYWAY. While he’s sick after Sidewinder, the ghost of Epsilon informs Wash that he’s going to be visited by three spirits (Delta, Sheila, and the Meta). Christmas Past is an adorably heartbreaking memory of Freelancer; Christmas Present is the Reds and Blues arguing about whether or not to keep Wash; and Christmas Yet To Come is … great, but I don’t want to spoil it. Snappy character voices, utterly heartwarming. PASS THE EGGNOG.

Under the Weather by @eponymous-rose (Gen, 18.7k)

“Sorry,” Maine says, after a moment. “I had orders.”

“I know,” Wash says. “It’s okay. I owe the Director, too.”

Maine’s shoulders roll once, signaling discomfort, and Wash looks down, focusing on peeling back the lid of the jello one-handed. “Hey,” he says. “South told me earlier there’s a storm coming. You ever get that feeling, too?”

Maine gives a long, slow sigh. “Always.”

This isn’t just a Sidewinder fic; it’s a story about Wash’s entire relationship with Project Freelancer and Maine, and how it ended at Sidewinder. There are a lot of different ways to characterize PFL and the Freelancers; this is one of the more hard-edged, military takes on them. It’s still incredibly human, and the end is guttingly tragic. Also, this fic has probably the most hurty Wash-wakes-up-on-Sidewinder scenes I’ve ever read. And did I mention that the prose is gorgeously elegant?

The Long Road Back to Good by @littlefists (Gen, 55k)

There is a line drawn in the sand, Wash thinks, and he is on the side where there is nothing but cold iron bars and static on dead radio frequencies and purple handprints. He could stay here, he knows. He could leave, turn away, and tell himself that he tried, and over time, he might even be able to make himself believe that.

Or he could step over the line on the long road back to good, and he could say—

“I’m sorry.”

THIS FIC.

So this one starts with Sidewinder, but covers all the missing time between S8 and S9, as Wash bonds with the Blue Team and Red Team and starts to reconstruct himself. It’s beautiful and it’s heartwarming and it’s what got me into RvB. Seriously. 18 months ago, RvB was just “that really confusing thing that half the people on my dash are so excited about, maybe I should check it out, BUT IT’S SO CONFUSING.” Then I saw somebody rec this fic, and I was like, “Oh, is this a guilt trip story? I like those. I understand them.” So I started reading it and I fell in love with Agent Washington and I started watching the show and HERE I AM.

Also, this fic has Caboose writing self-insert Harry Potter fanfic, and if that’s not the most perfect thing in the history of ever, I don’t know what is.

the story of a very successful adoption by comatoseroses (Gen, 0.5k)

I’m not quoting anything because this piece is so short, but it’s just a little Wash POV full of Blue Team feels that WARMED MY HEART AND RIPPED IT OUT in the same minute. ❤️❤️❤️

Hello! I love your blog. I've been reading all the 'classics'. Can you recommend some long and completed fics that haven't gotten as much attention. (Maybe less than 500 reviews on ffn?)

At the risk of sounding ungrateful for being able to recommend these fics to you, this is an easy enough search to complete on FFN. While we love being able to answer your specific fic requests, we would like to keep the inbox full of things that cannot be easily researched on your own.

That said, here’s 5 fics to get you started:

Ties That Bind by WonderfulCaricature - M, 28 chapters - I watched them as they flirted and caressed one another, it was sickening. It had to be stopped because at the end of the day, Granger was mine. DM/HG. !Sequel is now up: Far Too Young To Die

Forgotten Things by Salome Weil - M, 69 chapters - The war is over and Draco and Hermione’s relationship is firmly in the past. But what will awaken when tragedy strikes once more at the heart of all they hold dear? H/Hr/D, AU. Major character death. M for later adult content. Sequel to ‘Ethics.’

Skin on Skin by Cupiditatis - M, 18 chapters - 7th year. they are headboy and girl. Harry and Ron have left Hermione and she thinks her life is hell. But then someone of her past shows up and her life makes a 180 turn.

The Program by Salome Weil - M, 53 chapters - Years after the war, Ginny convinces Hermione to participate in a program designed to help victims and prisoners of the war, but help isn’t exactly the right word for what happens behind closed doors. Can Hermione find peace despite her past and present?

Diary of a Songbird by idreamofdraco - M, 28 chapters - Hermione Granger has a secret and Draco Malfoy is curious. Why is she so dependent on her diary, and what happened to make her that way? Can Hermione trust herself with a person like Malfoy, or will he only make things worse? Compliant up to OotP.

THE CHILDREN ARE HERE

!DISCLAIMER!  !DISCLAIMER!  !DISCLAIMER!

This is probably the hardest explanatory disclaimer I’ve had to write to date given what I’m trying to accomplish here with the Children, so I’m sorry that it’s so fuckin’ long–believe it or not this is the shortened version. The Children are a malicious and evil force, and are one of the main antagonists of my other storyline Catalysts and Rogues–and of my guild, Everbound. Despite this, it just didn’t make sense for a force this malicious and in depth to be isolated within these stories and somehow able to be ignored by the rest of the world at large.

So they appeared. And they began to spread. And they continued to spread. And now they’re here. There’s so much to touch on in this that I honestly have no idea where to begin, so if it sounds like I’m rambling, I apologize

From this point forward, the Children are now a physical entity in Azeroth. They exist. They’re here. They can be interacted with, or they can be avoided. They are evil, make no mistake about this. They are not here to be your friend. They are not here to be saved. They want you dead–and they want to make it last as long as possible. It goes without saying that this story can, and will, get dark. It goes without saying that there will be trigger warnings aplenty.

The biggest thing I need to touch on, however, is danger. They are dangerous. They will hurt you. Want to provoke them? Expect consequences. Want to attack them? Expect consequences. This is not another dungeon to clear. This is not another raid boss to tank n’ spank. This is not a story that will end within the week, where you are the victorious hero.

I will of course always ask for consent if something bad is about to happen–that’s a must with this kind of RP, consent. All I’m saying is don’t act carefree and expect to leave untouched. Again–you are not the hero of this story. Not without putting in the work and getting banged up in the process. They’re not just going to sit there and take it.

They are a mystery. They are powerful. They are dangerous. Do not expect to gallop upon your white horse and immediately discover what they are, what their weaknesses are, and how to kill them. Likewise, do not shower them with blood-soaked cookies and expect them to immediately be your BFF.

Your choices will matter. We’re in the big leagues now–don’t pretend to be all for this and immediately back out the moment something bad happens to you. If you’re going to go deeper into the Children’s story, be prepared for what you’re about to get yourself into–I cannot stress this enough. I’m one person, and it kinda sucks to put in that much effort only to have it be scrapped later on because someone couldn’t bear to see a scrape on their character.

All this being said, again–I’m a person. Communication is important. If you don’t want to go into the danger zone, but still need some creepy kids in your life, message me. We can work something out.

If you want to interact with them but aren’t sure how, message me.

If you have some plot ideas for them to help with, message me.

Basically just message me. Please never assume anything. If you’re not sure about something, ask me. If it has been revealed through the plot, I’ll tell you. If it hasn’t, I’ll say it’s still a mystery–because that’s what this is, a mystery.

Don’t just fill in what you think they are, or what they would do, and call it canon–I will call it out, and I will retcon it.

So, in summary:

This is a mystery. It’s okay to not know anything.
They are dangerous. Don’t be surprised when curiosity kills the cat.
I’m a person, just talk to me / ask me if you’re unsure.
This is obviously a dark storyline. Beware.

Not all information / story aspects will be for the public. The Children are the main antagonists for my other plotline–but I wanted to share. That’s not to say you can’t find out a great deal outside of this–but if you want the 100% full story, maybe check out the main plot too.

I’m one person, so I’m sorry if I reply slow. I work, raid, run a guild + it’s plot, and do life things on top of this.

You have been properly w̝̥̖ar̖̩̜̲͕͎n͉̯̹e̱̦̟d̦̲̲̫̗̺.

“…there are extraordinary men and women and extraordinary moments when history leaps forward on the backs of these individuals, that what can be imagined can be achieved, that you must dare to dream, but that there’s no substitute for perseverance and hard work and teamwork because no one gets there alone; and that, while we commemorate the… the greatness of these events and the individuals who achieve them, we cannot forget the sacrifice of those who make these achievements and leaps possible.”

Today is international transgender day of visibility. I have been fortunate enough to avoid struggles in my transition that many others cannot; from homelessness and family unacceptance, to abuse, inability to obtain necessary hormones/surgery, and so on. While the debate about bathroom use continues as people try to assess our level of threat to them behind a closed door, Trans people are being murdered in broad daylight or just walking home from work at night. Some are pushed to suicide because of how the world has treated them. We don’t get to hide, but we also shouldn’t have to. I have been told I’m going to regret my transition, that I was so pretty as a girl… “why would I do this.” I have been called by my birth name and SHE more times than I can count, after asking politely not to be. I have heard every argument as to why this is a mental illness and “sick.” I have read and seen every post and like here on Facebook to make fun of people like myself. Sometimes from people I love very much. Unless you are transgender or very close to someone who is… you will never ever understand what this is like. It is not pretend, it’s not playing dress up and most of the time it isn’t fun. Imagine having to tell someone you’re trans every time they see a female name or photo on your ID; or fight with someone on the phone because your voice doesn’t match your old name. Imagine calling doctors and asking “hey, can I come get basic medical care without you making fun of me to your staff when I walk away or medically mistreating me because you don’t agree with this lifestyle?” This is our reality. You may not understand being transgender… you may not even accept it; but we deserve to be here. Nothing anyone can say or do will ever make me feel like I don’t deserve what I’ve given myself & I urge more trans people to make themselves visible & to stop giving excuses for people who “don’t understand.” You don’t have to understand someone to respect them. (Quote in photo: credit to Laverne Cox).

TalesFromTheFrontDesk: I mean.. you CAN bring your kids but..

What I will never understand is why parents bring their kids to our hotel, the reason being is that we are a CASINO.

It’s not a secret, we say [Hotel and Casino] when we answer the phone, it says it on the websites, on the commercials, and when you walk in, you see slot machines.

We aren’t a resort, and in no way do we advertise that we are family friendly.

Kids are welcome to stay here, but there isn’t much for them to do, there’s a pool and a couple restaurants, but that’s the extent of it.

Also, we are a smoking casino. We cannot stress that enough. If smokers know there’s building they can smoke in, they will hotbox the shit out of it And unfortunately, there isn’t a non-smoking entrance, you have to pass through the smoke. Poor building design at best.

And every weekend without fail, we get angry parents that said “Oh it should be no problem” about an hour into check in suddenly wanting a refund because they didn’t think it would be THAT bad, and oh, little Billy has asthma that we should have known about.

Look, I can’t tell you what to do, but sympathy for you will not be located here. Out of at least 20 other hotels in the area, you decided the CASINO was the best place to take your kids. You can’t even play dumb, we are required to mention everything about our hotel, ESPECIALLY THE SMOKING

AND you went through expedia, which still says it’s a SMOKING CASINO. So if you want your refund, you call them and tell them you’re a moron and click blindly when you’re on their website.

urgh.

questions - is the Call Me By Your Name adaptation heartbreaking in a way that's gonna ruin me for an extended period of time? also, I was wondering if the "if you stop you'll kill me" motif from the book ever shows up in the film? are there any noticeable absences between the book and movie?

Sorry for the day in replying to this! But I’m actually really happy someone asked me this because it gives me an opportunity to talk about something I’ve been wanting to say!

I’ll start by saying that Call Me By Your Name affected me in a way few films have since I started watching movies. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that my heart was racing the entire time I was watching the movie and I left the theater crying. It’s been months since I saw it and I still think about it every day. Very few movies have had this kind of impact on me; Blue Valentine, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Long Day Closes, and A Woman Under the Influence are the few that make that list. After I saw Call Me By Your Name, I wrote this on my phone:

A cinematic tour de force. An impassioned, moving, heart-racing, heart-breaking film that reminded me how good it can feel to be alive. Watching this made me fall back in love with movies and with life.

I don’t intend any of this to sound like a brag. I’m really just trying to level set with you; to understand how I feel about this movie and how I’m talking about it here, it’s important to understand the profound emotional chord it struck with me. I’m not objective about this movie and I won’t ever claim to be. This is part of a larger discussion about the nuances surrounding the analysis of film; some of the best critics I know are good at what they do because they are able to remove themselves from the equation every single time. I can’t do that. I know myself well enough to know that I’m an intensely emotional person, so that’s an integral part of who I am and how I form opinions.

So, getting back to the question, yes I think Call Me By Your Name is definitely heartbreaking in a way that is going to ruin you for an extended period of time. In regards to your second question, I’m not going to answer that as specifically because I don’t want to spoil anything. Enough is going to get spoiled as it is and I’m sure there will be people who would gladly give away as much as you want, but I’m not one of them.

Since you asked about the differences between the film and the book, I will reiterate something I said a couple weeks ago: movies and books are completely vastly different mediums and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Every year we see tons of book-to-film adaptations get churned out and so many of them are wrong because the creators involved don’t do enough to distinguish their film from the book. Most novels take place inside the head (or multiple heads) of a character. We read their thoughts in a way that you cannot do in a movie - this is why a lot of movies default to using voiceover (which I hate hate hate!) It’s a cheap and lazy way of storytelling. Call Me By Your Name functions so well as a book adaptation because Luca Guadagnino understood what that story needed. I wouldn’t say he took liberties with the story, but he certainly made really confident edits that pared down the story in a way that improved the story. If the movie had been a direct copy of the book, it would not have been good. I feel really confident in saying that the movie is actually better than the book. That said, I think if passionate admirers of the novel are expecting it to be ~exactly the same~ they’re setting themselves up for disappointment.

As a general rule, I also encourage everyone to lower their expectations. Maybe this is just me, but in the past, I’ve gone through this cycle where I get really excited about a movie only to find myself disappointed while watching it. Then, upon rewatch, I find myself enjoying it much more than I did the first time. This has happened with a lot of my favorite movies. I think we’ve gotten into the habit of forming instant opinions that we feel like we have to stick by forever. I’ve seen so many movies where, the first time I watch, I feel myself fighting the tension between what I thought the movie was going to be versus what it actually is. Rewatching a movie always helps me to understand a movie more and thereby form a more confident opinion.

WHEW anyway I’m so sorry for talking so much. I hope you end up loving this really extraordinary movie. I’ll write more about it as we get closer to its release.

Asexuality, aromanticism, and everyone and anyone else on the aspec, including cis people with het attraction are inherently non-straight orientations. You don’t get to erase that because you deem them not “oppressed enough” to be part of the community.

Last time I checked, I thought we were against erasure to fit a standard *cough cough* heteronormativity *cough cough*

Why hate and exclude people on something that they literally cannot change, and then when they make valid points of being belittled, be on an online or public sphere, you tell them to stop?

News flash, aphobes, words still hurt.

What really bugs me about the wolf 359 fandom is that in aus, he doesn’t exist, is the door stop, or is evil 99% of the time. Like damn. So I’m about to drop some opinions.
Hilbert is not inherently evil first of all. Not even in canon. That’s an oversimplification of his character and actions, all of which are very much gray. Also, he’d be classified as the anti-villain, were I to classify the character archetypes in the show, and literally has a straight up anti-villain motive- I’ll do whatever it takes to get this done, so no one suffers like me or my family again and millions, maybe billions of people are saved. It’s not right, but it’s what he thinks. He wants to fix something in the broken world, and god help anyone who gets in his way. (Funny how that’s suddenly ok for other characters- i.e. Lovelace or Hera)
As for decima and the human experiments- I do disagree with using innocent people in rigorous human experimentation, but personally if you replaced the death penalty with that, I’d be fine with it. (Also, Eiffel ain’t a saint y'all. Not so bad he would be put on death row, but he isn’t your cinnamon roll boy). Also, it’s quite apparent that decima is a coping mechanism for his family’s death, maybe even the entirety of Volgograd’s death- nuclear meltdowns don’t usually leave many survivors. It’s not healthy, and it’s very concerning, but a lot of people expect him to just drop it suddenly and be fine. No. it’s a coping mechanism, a very unhealthy one, like setting things on fire or slicing your arms open or arguing with people who will never change your mind so you can feel right and good. For Hilbert to give up on decima is very unlikely, even if you put him in years of therapy and gave him better coping mechanisms.
Also, I’ve seen people say “Eiffel stop being a little bitch and just do the experiments already”. No. not ok. Eiffel doesn’t have to, and has valid reasons of concern- most of the previous test subjects died. He wants to live. Yeah, it’s a bit selfish I guess, but he still decides wether or not he goes through with it. That said, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, HILBERT DID ASK, ALBEIT LATE IN THE GAME, BUT HE DID AND YOU KNOW WHAT EIFFEL DID? HE SAID “we don’t have time for this.” Then later, at the end of the episode, he told Hilbert that he could keep decima in them because! He! Knew! How! Important! It! Is! To! Hilbert! And then, a month after that as far as their interaction goes he turned right around and said “fuck you I don’t care that you’ve been hurt, that you’re hurting, just get over it.”
At least, that’s probably how Hilbert read that.
Oh and on that subject, y'all expect him to just cozy on up to the crew suddenly? The people who starved him? He isolated him whenever he wasn’t useful? The people who treated him like a tool to use? Who strangled and suffocated him? The people who hit him? The people who scream and yell at him? I don’t think so. It’s not pretty, it doesn’t fit into the way people like to read or think about the show, but acknowledge that Hilbert has been abused by these people, and probably has to keep himself from flinching when they move suddenly or turn to him and open their mouth, or hears a sound from the station that sounds like an oxygen drain about to happen.
TD:LR; Hilbert isn’t inherently evil, he won’t suddenly change to something sweet that you can swallow easier, and needs help, and what the crew does doesn’t qualify as help.

Dear Sir:

A tragic event unfolded last week in the Town of Russellville, Alabama. An army veteran, an Afghanistan deployee, shot and killed his beautiful wife in front of her family and then after a brief slow speed chase turned the gun on himself. I attended his funeral yesterday.

Josh Stiles was a boy scout, a good student, a well-loved individual. In his last days, after battling PTSD, anxiety and depression on his own, he reached out for help. He contacted a mental health facility in Russellville, an inpatient center in Decatur and the VA. Russellville said he had to have an appointment, Decatur had no bed and the VA said “we’ll mail you some paperwork”. This is not good enough.

Our veterans give us all they have and we must not fail them. Two lives are lost because the VA did not say “come on in, we’ll help you”. Josh had his discharge papers in the truck with him when he died. Those papers alone should have been enough to get him admitted to a VA facility, or a local hospital to get the help he needed.

The epidemic of veteran suicides is a disgrace to this country. Those who keep us free cannot be left to cope alone. Mandatory counseling for an extended time for all those who have been deployed to a combat zone would accomplish two things - the veterans would get the help they need and because everyone would get treatment there would be no stigma attached. A mental health worker I know tells me that many do not seek treatment because they don’t want the diagnoses on their record. Mandatory treatment for those who stay in the military and for those discharged is necessary to prevent more of these tragedies.

It does no good to equip our military for battle and then fail to equip them for life after the battle is over. Our country is rich, please don’t tell me we can’t afford to care for those who make protecting us their top priority. I am depending on you to change this.

Since you mention it, I think I will start that race war.

I could’ve swung either way? But now I’m definitely spending the next 4 years converting your daughters to lesbianism;
I’m gonna eat all your guns. Swallow them lock stock and barrel and spit bullet casings onto the dinner table;

I’ll give birth to an army of mixed-race babies.
With fathers from every continent and genders to outnumber the stars, my legion of multiracial babies will be intersectional as fuck and your swastikas will not be enough to save you,

because real talk, you didn’t stop the future from coming.
You just delayed our coronation.
We have the same deviant haircuts we had yesterday;
we are still getting gay-married like nobody’s business
because it’s still nobody’s business;
there’s a Muslim kid in Kansas who has already written the schematic
for the robot that will steal your job in manufacturing,
and that robot?

I’ll confess I don’t know if I’m alive right now;
I haven’t heard my heart beat in days,
I keep holding my breath for the moment the plane goes down
and I have to save enough oxygen to get my friends through.

But I finally found the argument against suicide and it’s us.
We’re the effigies that haunt America’s nights harder
the longer they spend burning us,
we are scaring the shit out of people by spreading,
by refusing to die: what are we but a fire?
We know everything we do is so the kids after us
will be able to follow something towards safety;
what can I call us but lighthouse,

of course I’m terrified.

The Struggles of Wearing Glasses

So I’ve decided I’m just going to make a big-ish post about the struggle of owning and wearing glasses since I really haven’t seen one around, only little things here and there (which I found hilarious). Please feel free to add your own struggles and or perks.

• They can become expensive (I cannot begin to tell how may times I have to get new frames and such because I’ve kept breaking them since being a small child.

• You’re reminded that you have crappy eyesight.

• And for some of us that makes us sad.

• You (or at least I do) envy people who have glasses but do not wear them simply because they can somehow tolerate not wearing them; meanwhile you’re stumbling around blind as a bat without yours.

• Hearing: “You look so much better without glasses!” Or anything along those lines.

• You have crap eyes (don’t forget).

• When you can’t find them in the morning so you have to waste time you don’t have looking for them. And truly if they are not within reach or anywhere are where they are normally kept you’re screwed.

• Can’t wear really cool sunglasses (or sunglasses in general).

• When they constantly slide off your face (seriously, how rude?).

• When you get slight headaches from breaking in new lenses.

• Those of us who have an astigma (you know who you are and how it is).

• Can’t wear Halloween masks too well because you would have to take your glasses off in order for the mask to fit over your face and then you can’t fucking see!

• The rain. Enough said.

• When you break them.

• Especially if you don’t have a backup.

• Probably the fact the you need a backup.

• Anyone whose ever been teased. Especially when it really hurt.

• Can’t wear mascara because it will smudge on the inside of the lenses.

• It’s hard for some of us to prescribe eye makeup because our lovely glasses get in the way and of course we can’t remove them because then WE CANNOT SEE A BLOODY THING IN FRONT OF US (I seriously have a terrible issue with this).

• Getting hair dye stains on the sides.

• Can’t really wear 3-D glasses.

• Unable to truly fall peacefully asleep whenever you feel like it because you have to take the extra two seconds to remove your glasses and prevent damage.

• Steam.

• If you stay at a friends house (or anyone’s house) and you need to take a shower, you have to read the labels of all the bottles in the shower before getting in. If not your standing there squinting trying to determine which bottle is shampoo and which is conditioner.

Perks about wearing glasses:

• Since people use glasses as a fashion statement now a days, you’re already ahead of the curve.

• They help you see better (imagine that right?).

• For some of us they really do hide our very terrible eye makeup.

• A lot of people really really do look great in glasses. Seriously, keep being fabulous specimen of human beings.

• You are probably making someone else feel good about wearing their glasses.
