I had the opportunity to see Wonder Woman recently, and I was left awestruck. Wonder Woman is such a timeless character, and I feel this story and the way the film was made really captured the heart of the original character. With DC’s track record, it had a high chance of being lazy and bad. But it wasn’t. It was original. Refreshing. I cried a lot, and here’s why.
1. Women Are Strong
I’m not one to loudly complain about the misrepresentation of women in media (though we often are). We’ve had some really awesome and strong female characters over the past couple years. But somehow, Wonder Woman took this in a completely new direction. Watching the Amazons fight the invaders on the beach nearly brought me to tears. It was so special for me to see women take on roles we rarely see them in. They were the fighters, the protectors, the providers. There are many women out in the world right now who are fighting their own battles, much like the Amazons. They’re providing for their families or serving their countries through the military. It was a pleasant reminder that while men and women have differences, they are equally strong and skilled.
(Also yay for a female director!)
2. Actions Speak Louder
Many times, Wonder Woman is questioned. She’s scoffed at for being a women (which would have been very common during that time). She’s underestimated. But what’s so amazing here is that she never has to prove herself to the men. It would’ve been so easy for the movie to fall into that common trope. She never argues with a man and she focuses her attention on others instead of herself. She wants to kill Ares and stop the war. And in the end, her actions speak louder then her words ever could. What I took from this is to rise to action. Stop talking and start doing. Ignore what others say, because you know what you can do. Hold your head high and rise above.
3. Mutual Respect Brings the Most Success
As I said before, it would have been easy for the film to fall into certain tropes. A trope we often see nowadays is a woman proving that she (or all women) are better then men. That’s never a point of conflict in this film. Her love interest, Steve, fights as her equal. He isn’t clumsy or weak to make Wonder Woman look stronger. He believes in her and helps her to the best of his ability. When they become interested in each other romantically, they both hold their own. They love each other but are not dependent on one another. We see the rest of the men in their gang react the same way later on. They all eventually come to love and respect Diana. It’s a great reminder that feminism is about collaboration and equality, not one gender being better then the other. We each have something to bring to the table and our differences are what makes us stronger.
4. It’s Okay to not be Okay
There’s a really interesting character in Wonder Woman’s gang named Charlie. He’s supposed to be the world’s top shooter, but time and time again he fails. He seen some things that have damaged him pretty heavily. What’s really interesting about this character is that we never see this issue resolved. He doesn’t have his big “hero moment” where he is suddenly able to shoot and save the day. This is so much like real life. We’ve all been hurt, and it’s ok to be damaged. You have nothing to prove, but your great efforts will help everything to turn out right in the end. At one point, Charlie even says to Diana “You don’t need me, you’re better of without me.” To this she replies “No, Charlie, if you’re not here, who will sing?” This implies that Charlie is still a valued member of the group, despite his shortcomings. His friends are able to recognize his other strengths when he cannot.
5. There is Much Darkness in the World, But Love Will Save the Day
Not much to say here, as Diana said it all in her own monologue:
“I used to want to save the world, to end war and bring peace to mankind. But then I glimpsed the darkness that lives within their light. I learnt that inside every one of them there will always be both. The choice each must make for themselves - something no hero will ever defeat. And now I know… that only love can truly save the world. So now I stay, I fight, and I give - for the world I know can be. This is my mission now, for ever.”
Often times love is portrayed as a great weakness. But it isn’t. To love is to truly see beauty in the world. To love is to be brave and strong. Love is the greatest power of all.
We must learn to forgive. Diana had the opportunity to kill the chemist responsible for Steve’s death. And she chose not too, instead focusing on the larger problem at hand and in turn leaving the past in the past.
There were not gratuitous or sexualized shots of the women in the film. The framing was based around the action. The women were all beautiful, but the film relied on it’s story and the strength of it’s lead rather then her beauty.
There will always be hardship. There isn’t always one bad guy to fight. We all will have to continue to fight our demons and endure through our trials. But it’s the light and the love, those precious moments, that we fight for.
Thanks Wonder Woman. You inspired me, and I’m so grateful. I don’t think I’ve seen a superhero movie with more heart. There will be many days ahead where I think “What would Wonder Woman do?”
*I may edit and add on to more of this at a later time, but I wanted to get my initial thoughts out!
do you have tips on comic compostions and angling/framing of scenes beacuse holy fudge what the actual hell your mob comic is An Expirience
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhOOOOOOOOOOOO BO Y AIGHT
I’m gonna take this ask as a chance to masterpost about this comic.
Since there wasn’t a set time limit for this comic, I went all ham for it, which means there’s a lot of thought about angles/framing n shit in this sumbitch. (keep in mind i’m still learning this craft myself as i go along so FEEL FREE TO IMPROVE WHEREVER)
I’ll go in depth about it but all of my tips can be summed up with :
go for the emotion of the scene.
Everything I do, I do to try and heighten the feeling in a scene. Everything I’m about to describe were all choices to try and maximize the emotional impressions.
First off, everything in this comic (with the exception of panels 7-9 on page 4) is from Mob’s POV. Everything is built from there. keep in mind goin forward -
We start with Mob terrified of being spotted, of running into anyone. So I strained the perspective to make it feel too close for comfort, despite how far away his other limbs are. I also used the angle to emphasize the “spotlight”, pushing Mob
further discomfort, like he’s being watched anyways.
Mob fears he just murdered someone ? At his lowest moment in this comic? This is where the camera looks down on Mob the most.
Time for shock and awe that the man’s alive ! So Reigen is angled UP, building his Bigness in Mob’s eyes. Most subsequent shots repeat this, keeping us grounded in Mob’s perspective.
Here, Mob is literally on his knees asking for answers. So I pushed for an angle to make him seem really tiny. I wanted him to look as small as he feels.
In the next few pages, the angles basically level out (and I’ll talk more about why in other sections***) until
Mob has just touched back. This was a direct action on his part, so just as I’d built Reigen with that tilt up, it’s Mob’s turn to share that space.
Once Mob fears for the lives of the police, we shift back to high angles. Using a high angle to make a character seem small isn’t groundbreaking but it’s something to chew anyways.
This is less about the angle and more about how cramped everything is. Mob feels backed into a corner unless he can get Reigen to relent. So the tightness and how Reigen looms reflects this.
And here, I mirrored the very first panel. Once again we have a shot of Mob’s back, walking into the light of a streetlamp. But this angle is gentle in comparison, even if slightly off center. We can see where the light comes from so it ceases to feel less like an omnipotent threat and more mundane. Perhaps even hopeful.
I’m sorry to say I feel this is one of my weak points as a creator. I’d like to improve here the most. Most of my panels can be summed up with ‘slant = energized’, ‘straight = stable’. BUT. I did take a few liberties here and it’s good to point them out.
Broken glass to heighten the ouch on Mob’s part.
Salt man don’t give a fuck. he IS the panel. //adds to the energy of this moment
This break from the panels is meant to make Mob hitting Reigen a more immediate threat.
Same with Reigen reaching around it here. He’s still in danger of being shreddy shreddy at this point.
Sometimes a panel will bleed off, to give a more ‘open space’ feel. I like to use it in subtle “oh” moments. That’s the best I could describe it.
annnnnd nothin like a casual reminder on the edges of panels about what would happen should the police show up.
Once Reigen shows up, he dominates the frame, even in shots where mob is closer to the audience. Again, this is all to emphasize how Big Reigen seems to a scared Mobbu.
Mob pushes himself to corners, Reigen’s given the bulk of the space.
He stands taller than mob and makes the frame uneven.
Even his hand feels huge in comparison.
***That is, until Reigen has a better perception of what’s going on.
Then his actions and staging reflect this.
Reigen kneels down, trying to make himself smaller both to Mob, and in the frame.
The staging reflects Reigen’s attempts to get on even ground, literally and metaphorically.
Mob’s still pushing himself into corners, but now Reigen has actively surrendered some of the space.
Still just, trying to get some of Mob’s perspective.
And from this point onwards, Reigen and Mob share the space/frame more evenly.
Even in shots where Reigen’s kinda large, he no longer seems so imposing.
Mob still looks up to him but we no longer have such dramatic shots tilting him up and having him hog the focus of the panel.
And we save the closest-closeup, both in staging and in how close our characters physically feel for last. Because bonding and shit.
Decided to make the use of color sort of uncomfortable. Hinted at in edges but not really a presence of their own. Hard to tell what the color of anything is because it’s all nonsense in ur peripherals.
Until we get to humans. But this color seems more invasive, and doesn’t really touch mob in a positive way.
Till we get to these splash of color, messy and kinda unorganized but it’s exactly what Mob needs to bring some order.
From here we get a muted color wash, there but still slightly dulled.
The first hint we get of the saturation to come is centered around the touch.
We slowly fade into full blown saturation once Mob reaches back.
The name meanings of Jun and Tetsuo, since this is the street where they live and why not ahaha.
There’s a lot of bird imagery in ABoT so I
“Kid, it’s like lifting a feather.”
And even tho Reig gets a cool halo from the streetlights n shit
We all know who the real angel is
Other fun shit
Mob’s outfit is based on Sakurai’s outfit when he was orphaned as a child.
I literally put the streetlight directly behind the hand in this shot because I lack subtlety and love it.
There are 2 times where I cut out a bit of (frankly beautiful) wordage in order to show things better visually. Both times happen when Mob’s stopped paying attention.
First with Reigen’s words just becoming a flood of nonsense pretty sounds.
The second when Mob’s thinking about the possibility of his barrier being gone.
also here u guys can have some behind the scenes shenanigans
What do you think Shiro's backstory is? Do you think he has family back on earth, or is Keith all he has?
At this point, I’m pretty sure Shiro is estranged from his family. If he were just an orphan, then I think his official character bio would have said so–like it did for Keith. So I think there must’ve been a family at some point, but they seem to be out of the picture. There’s also a few things that I think indicates Shiro may have lost his dad.
And we see this reflected in Sam. In a way, I think he definitely reminds Shiro of his father, or at least ended up being a kind of fatherly figure. When Shiro rescues Matt from the gladiator arena, the last thing he says is, “Take care of your father.” This message sounds deeply personal, like there’s a history there and maybe Shiro was unable to save his own dad at some point.
This is taken a step further when Shiro decides they can’t afford to waste time looking for Sam and Matt. He’s only convinced when Pidge mentions they’re family, and Shiro just stops and says, “Commander Holt is your father?” before immediately agreeing. So as much as Shiro cares about Sam, he wasn’t willing to risk the mission until he found out that Pidge was trying to save her dad. I really do think that must’ve resonated with Shiro on some level, like he’s been in that position before
Also, something about this last shot–look at Keith’s face here. He also looks visibly affected. And I mean, we know Keith would give just about anything to be able to find his dad, so I think Shiro also having some kind of troubled past involving his father is very likely. Shiro and Keith are present for this scene instead of Lance and Hunk for a reason.
Of course, it could also be that maybe something happened and Shiro ended up parting with his dad on bad terms, and it’s something he really regrets. After all, when calming down Pidge, he tells her something her father said instead of giving advice from his own dad. I think that says Shiro was never really all that close with his own father or maybe he just grew up without one.
And honestly the first red flag for me was how Shiro reacted to being held prisoner for a year. The Kerberos crew was announced dead, and any family he had would’ve been told that. They must’ve mourned him, held a funeral for him. His picture was all over the news alongside the headlinePilot error.
And yet?? Shiro never expresses any desire to see his family again or return to Earth like the other paladins–despite the fact that he’s been gone the longest. On top of that, he never even once asks anyone for news on his family–you’d think he’d talk to Keith or Pidge at least. What person is declared dead for a year and then doesn’t think about how their loved ones must feel? Doesn’t want to go home to them and tell them not to worry, that they’re okay.
Shiro’s behavior is bizarrely abnormal, there’s just no way to account for that kind of response unless Shiro was either already distant from his family or absolutely dreading going home–and this is also very possible, as Shiro’s changed, he’s not the person he was before. He has his trauma, his PTSD–he believes the galra have turned him into a monster. He has to go home and try to explain why he was gone so long and lost his crew and has only one arm and his hair’s gone white. So maybe Shiro’s just terrified because all sense of normalcy would be gone and there’s no sense trying to return to it. Shiro’s not like Lance, Hunk, or Pidge–he can’t just go back. But as understandable as that would be, I more so think that Shiro doesn’t have very much to return to in the first place.
So far, the closest thing Shiro really has to a home is Keith. When he crashes back to Earth, he never asks about his family or tries to at least visit his house before he leaves. But I think it says a lot that Shiro does end up back at Keith’s home. And Keith is the one who offered him his little shack as shelter, has a warm heart-to-heart where he welcomes him back. This is Shiro’s homecoming. And given that the shack has always been a symbol of home for Keith, we can infer that Shiro will always have a place there as well.
I think it’s very telling that there’s an episode where everyone but Shiro and Keith express wanting to go home or find their families–Shiro never voices an opinion on the matter. He’s completely silent and only steps in to try to calm Keith down and settle things with Pidge. But I think we get even more insight to how Shiro feels from Stayin’ Alive in season 2. Everyone’s reminiscing about their fond memories, and they all look so happy. But then there’s Shiro, with his back turned away from everyone. He looks pretty deep in thought, like something’s really bothering him
And when he does turn back to face the group, he says this:
“You realize once we defeat Zarkon, the universe won’t need Voltron anymore.” Just as a refresher here, Shiro was basically the most excited about being a paladin–“Defenders of the universe huh? That’s got a nice ring to it.” Shiro found a purpose, and he took pride in it. He felt like, even as much as the galra have tormented him and tore him apart, he finally found a place where he belonged.
And that’s why so much of his fear is wrapped up in this idea that he’s not worthy of the job–“Did you ever think a monster like you could be a Voltron paladin?” Fighting the good fight and saving lives meant something to Shiro. His connection with the Black lion and having a team were both very healing for him. He doesn’t want to lose that
And it only gets worse because everyone else automatically has something planned, they all have something in mind after Voltron. And they all want to go home or return to their families, but Shiro says nothing. Because there is no after for him, nothing back on Earth waiting for him. After Pidge says, “I could search for my family,” Keith adds, “I guess I could look for mine.” But Shiro never says anything about his plans for the future. He doesn’t have any
And Shiro looks pretty tense this whole time. When he talks about how if everything goes according to plan this will all be over–you really get the feeling he doesn’t want it to end. Like being a paladin is this amazing dream and he just doesn’t want to wake up.
Even when Kuron believes he’s dying, the only significant memories that resurface are all to do with Team Voltron. Nothing related to his own background or family. And the fact that Keith welcoming him back is the first thing he sees says a lot–that’s home to him
“My date is tonight and I can’t cook to save my life so I was hoping maybe you can cook something and I could pass it off as my own,” Harry says.
Y/N giggles, walking down her hallway and into the living room where she can see her door is wide open, she closes it and turns back to Harry. He’s looking at her with a hopeful look in his eyes and a charming smile that Y/N can’t deny.
“Of course, I mean you helped me move, it’s the least I can do” Y/N smiled, “what time is your date?”
“Seven,” Harry says.
Y/N places her lower lip in between her teeth and her hands on her hip as she thinks, “okay yeah, I can do that, is this like a I want to actually date you date or a tinder type thing?”
Y/N rolls her eyes and hold the door open, “I’ll do it, but I do not agree with your motives.”
Y/N is the girl across the hall who tries to help Harry find a girl to settle down with, but Harry wants Y/N so he sabotages all his dates.
Harry was the first to notice Y/N.
She was standing next to her moving truck, pulling her hair
into a ponytail with the blue scrunchie wrapped around her wrist. She was
cute-not the normal type Harry would go for-but he would still try. Y/N was
cute, and somehow dressed modest on the hottest day of the year, a white
t-shirt tucked into a pair of sky blue shorts and sneakers, Harry was sure he
hadn’t seen a girl with as much clothing as she had on, and that spoke loads to
his character and choice women.
I wanna talk about Viktor’s room at the Katsukis’ Onsen.
A room says a lot about you. I mean, just look at Yuuri’s room. We are made to understand right from the start who he is.
Yuuri’s room was designed to really hammer the point across that he’s the biggest Nikiforov fan out there. And let’s be honest, although we learn a lot about who Yuuri is, from his anxiety to his competitiveness, his developing relationship with Viktor is the heart of Yuri!!! On Ice.
Viktor has moved into his new room temporarily but he’s pretty damn extra and brought everything with him so there’s a lot in there to look at.
So essentially this is Viktor’s room. It’s pretty self-explanatory for the most part. We’ve got the lamps he clearly likes as we see them in his Russian apartment in ep 1. Matryoshka dolls, because he Russian duh, giant bed to share with Makka, books to read. Then there’s a large artsy painting of a woman and a, no doubt heavy af, stone sculpture. These two things show that Viktor’s got money, that he’s classy, and that he’s extra. All pretty straightforward.
So what really interests me about Viktor’s room is the photo frame. More specifically, the frame that holds a picture of himself.
Unlike painting and posters, photo frames are far more personal.
Yuuri has posters of his idol, okay yes there are a lot, but it’s still pretty regular behaviour. But something that I, and many others from what I’ve seen, found super endearing was that he had multiple framed photos of Viktor. That’s far more personal, and it really hinted at Yuuri’s stronger feelings.
So then we have Viktor’s room, and the only photo frame he brings with him holds a picture of himself.
At first, I thought damn isn’t that arrogant? So conceited, it’s actually a bit cringe even.
But then, this is Viktor. Yes he’s a legend, yes he knows it, but he’s never truly flaunted it. That doesn’t seem very in character to present him this way.
I wondered if maybe it was Yuuri who put it in there. After all, Yuuri clearly had the same poster–
– which we saw him take down from his room.
But then, that seems unlikely. That would defy the point of hiding the posters in the first place! Plus, look at Viktor moving in.
The room is completely bare, there wasn’t anything in there. Everything came from Viktor’s boxes. The frame had to have been his.
So, thinking of what I know of Viktor, one of the things that stands out the most about him was that skating was his everything. No life and love as he much later explained, but that was fair to assume even in ep 1, given that he was a legend. The sport clearly took up a lot of time!
If someone wanted to frame a picture, what would they pick? A picture of their family? A shot of them with their friends? A cute pic of them and their dog? It would be a picture close to them, something or someone that matters. And what does Viktor have?
A picture of himself skating.
Because his whole life has been his skating career, he pretty much knows nothing else. He even admitted that he rarely got to spend time with Makkachin before.
Looking at it that way, the picture is suddenly really sad.
When you move to another country, you’d want a reminder of the people you love, of home. Viktor brings a reminder of skating because it’s all he’s known, and it’s the thing he’s going to miss most.
Because, think about it. He skates and skates and skates, and now it stops. He knows that choosing to be a coach means putting skating aside. His skating is framed there on his table, because it’s like looking at a missed loved one for him.
But this is actually really beautiful. Because, throughout the entire series, we don’t really see a Viktor who mourns the fact that he’s not practicing a routine for himself. Yuuri doesn’t catch him skating by himself thoughtfully, missing having the ice all to himself. Not once do we see that on their journey! Viktor is completely engrossed in coaching Yuuri, and now he only skates to teach him. His devotion is so genuine. I knew that Viktor loved Yuuri to have put everything on hold like that for him, but I didn’t know it like this.
I really want to see Victor’s photo frame in season 2. My money’s on Yuuri being in that picture.
- Where Harry doesn’t talk and falls in love with Y/n.
Masterlist linked in bio
It’s Monday, which means that Harry has to start his week with Physics class.
Harry doesn’t mind the subject itself, he actually has come to the conclusion that it’s the class he’s most interested in—it’s more so the three-hour lab that couldn’t seem to end soon enough. Physics lab means three hours of group research, which requires an abundance of group participation and discussion—all of which makes Harry want to crawl out of his own skin.
And despite Physics holding Harry’s highest grade in university, everyone in that class only hopes to not be paired with him.
Not one student has heard him utter a single word, which ultimately led them to believe that his lack of participation will jeopardize their already mediocre grades. But Harry always finds himself writing all the data information to make up for his lack of discussion, even if he hated it.
So inevitably, Harry lets out an inaudible sigh when he settles into his chair, hair a bit disheveled and eyes still watering from the early hour. And he mentally curses himself for sleeping in a couple extra minutes because now he hasn’t gotten a single ounce of caffeine to help him feel more prepared for the next three hours.
Summary: As soon as the first ever Cold Stone Creamery opens up in London, Phil knew he had to go. However, it wasn’t the ice cream that made him keep coming back, but rather the cute employee who looks dead in the eyes whenever he has to sing the tip jar songs. Word Count: 4,405 Warnings: Food mentions, cussing A/N: thanks so much to @greynihilism for prompting me this!!! I honestly love this SO MUCH. And of course thanks to @snowbunnylester for listening to me shout and for telling me to match our titles bc we are disgusting soulmates. I didn’t edit this but i’m too excited about it so idgaf! Hope you like it!
When a new Cold Stone Creamery opened up in London, it was the biggest thing since sliced bread. Literally everyone had to try some, to get some for themselves, that way they could boast to their friends and family how they got to try it.
Phil was guilty of this. He was a slut for only two things, and those were ice cream and new shops. So when he heard a new ice cream shop was opening up? Phil pretty much shit himself. He gathered all of his friends, sat them down, and explained the situation to them. He didn’t want to say he forced them to come with him, because he didn’t. He just calmly insisted that they come with him and didn’t let them leave the room until they agreed. No biggie.
That’s how he found himself inside of Cold Stone with Kiley, Charles, and Michael. Phil was the only one who was so excited that he couldn’t stop bouncing on the balls of his feet. His friends were chattering beside him, waiting patiently for the line to go down so they could finally order, but Phil was having trouble being patient. He wanted his ice cream and he wanted it now. There were still five people in front of him and he wanted to push them all out of the way so he could order his own ice cream and press his face to the counter glass like an annoying child.
Recap time! A few things happened on social medias these past few days with some of the Camren story protagonists, which ends up being this big confusing hilarious mess that I tried to figure out 😂
Disclaimer : I’ve checked all the posts myself, they all happened. And any opinion or theory I share in this post is completely personal.
First stop we have Alexa! One of Lauren’s best friend who liked one of Camila’s pics a couple days ago - it already happened before, which suggest that even though it seems like Camila and Lauren aren’t in good terms, they actually are - or Alexa is not a very loyal friend.
Then enters Lucy! Supposedly Lauren’s ex girlfriend or at the very least Lauren’s ex best friend, who also liked one of Camila’s pictures. Now we all pretty much know that Lucy and Lauren aren’t on the best terms right now - Lucy made it pretty clear by liking a few comments concerning Lauren. So that could be your classic “I’m pissed at you so I’m gonna like your ex girlfriend’s picture” move. Lucy already liked a couple of Camila’s picture in the past couple of months.
Next we have Lauren! Who liked a somehow confusing tweet who could either reference Camila or her “relationship” with Ty.
Next stop we have Camila! Who liked one of Ty’s ig post. The post in itself is really weird - it’s for his new music video and the first few shots are of a hot girl coming out of a car (not Lauren) and then it’s him shaking hands with other rappers, and his caption of the post is “❤️ 😍 😘” - not sure if those emojis are for the girl or the rappers but it’s weird 😂 Anyhoo, Camila liked, and I get that it can be confusing, I was confused, I was like “what are you doing mija?” but then I thought about it for a sec and it actually makes a lot of sense, but I’ll get back to that in the conclusion of the post.
And next is Ty posting a Tyren pic dun dun dun! Well we’ve been waiting on that one for a while. A real Tyren pic, where you can actually see their faces and in which they actually look like a couple.
I’ll give you my thoughts on that in a sec
Whoops, how did that Laucy pic get in there? Wasn’t me I swear!
Coming up next is…. Captain Dinah Jane! Who liked and commented on the Tyren pic ! She also commented with sevenblack hearts, yes black hearts - seriously who comments on a happy couply pic with black hearts? I’m sure some will say that it’s because the pic is in black and white, but I’m not convinced by that.
Also some of you will tell me “Don’t call her Captain! She’s not captain anymore!” well, isn’t she though? 😏
And finally here comes out last act, which I only discovered this morning, Alessandro! Well technically not him directly, but the GUESS photographer who posted, I realize we don’t have a shit name for them, Camilandro? Camissandro? Alemila? pics, and captioning them “love birds” with also a black heart! What’s up with that?
Alright! Now I’m gonna give you my personal opinion, my theory, on what I think of all of this, and why it didn’t make my Camren heart waver for even a second.
Remember before anything else that 5H and Camila are still under the same label and that their p.r are very certainly working together.
As we all know, we are right now in quite a bit of a promotional time, with 5H announcing the release of their new album , Camila releasing Havana and OMG plus her GUESS and L’Oréal campaigns, and also Ty releasing a new music video. It’s the perfect time for their p.r teams to work their magic.
Now, there’s nothing better than a little romance to attract the people! Making Tyren official at this particular moment assures them extra promotion. Because believe it or not, a lot of people are stupid enough to tell themselves “Oh Lauren is dating Ty! Wonder what is music is like? Maybe he’s gonna talk about Lauren in his new album! I gotta listen to that!” or “Oh Ty is dating Lauren! She’s hot, actually all the girls in 5H are hot! Oh they have an album coming out! Maybe Lauren wrote about Ty in it! I gotta listen to that!” - it’s idiotic but it’s true! And I’m no better tbh, even if Camila’s album was the worst album in the world (would never happen cause she’s a legend) I would still listen the shit out of it just for Camren, because “Maybe Camila wrote about Lauren in it! I gotta listen to that!” (she definitely did 🌚)
It’s a very simple strategy. Some of you will tell me “why haven’t they use it before for Down for example” - well Down wasn’t promoted at all and you don’t waste a p.r relationship on a unpromoted song. Making them official now will also earn them a few headlines, get them in the medias right before the album release. I’m betting that we’re gonna see more and more of Tyren in the next few weeks.
Now, how does Camila come into this? And why would she like a Ty pic? Well just like always, you needs to shut those Camren shippers up! They pick up on everything don’t they?! Surely they’ll pick up on that! They just need one like, and that’s easily negotiated between p.r teams. The fact that the Tyren pic is in the exact position as the Laucy pic is just bonus for us, I mean sometimes I feel like they’re just giving us material 😂
Also having Dinah Jane, the captain, Camila’s best friend (yes, present time), like and comment on the pic is supposed to be the final nail in the Camren coffin. But we all remember that Dinah has already been an accessory in the p.r game back in Dorito Boy days, and I’m sure this time is no different. It’s also my very personal opinion that those black hearts aren’t a coincidence and that maybe Dinah is trying to slip us a little message, but that belongs in the higher delulu level.
And then we have Camilandro? Camissandro? Alemila? who couldn’t be more obvious if they wanted to. That’s your classic campaign promo p.r move - they’re in a hot photoshoot together, they’re close enough in it to make people fantasize about a possible relationship, which then will make people look closer at each of them, which will start speculations, then maybe the medias will get to it, which then will beneficiate the campaign and Camila’s career and straight image and blah blah blah…
So in conclusion, all of this happening at the same time during a very promotional period makes me strongly believe that most of it is bullshit. You may think that I’m trying to find excuses and what not, and that I’m just completely delulu, but tbh I don’t care. All of this is just too weird and well organized to be simply the work of fate.
Request: Do you do one shots too or only
imagines? If you do, I was thinking maybe an teen wolf x Riverdale crossover.
Like the reader goes to Riverdale for the summer to hang out with her cousin
that just moved there (Veronica) and she meets jughead and he reminds her of
stiles the guy she’s been in love with since forever and she starts getting
close to jug and Stiles finds out and gets jealous bc he’s lowkey in love with
her too and he goes to Riverdale to get her and maybe there’s some angst and
A/n: I haven’t posted
anything in months (probably 6 months? Idk) and I’m really sorry about that. I
had zero motivation to write anything and if I did nothing would come to me, so
I’m really sorry. But now I’m back with school almost being over, I have a lot
of time now. So enjoy this imagine that I wrote and sorry if it isn’t perfect
and sorry if there’s any grammar error. Love you guys x
“Do you have to go?” A sad
looking Stiles asked from across the room. You sighed, nodding your head as you
packed some clothes in your suitcase. Stiles let out a puff and got up from the
chair he was sitting in and walked over to your bed. “I don’t want you to.”
“Stiles, it’s just the
summer. It would go by pretty fast.” You told the brown haired boy and gave him
a smile. He gave you a forced smile and you threw the shirt you had in your
hands at him. Stiles let out a loud squeak, making you burst out
“That was so not cool.”
Stiles claimed, glaring at you. You stuck your tongue out at him and giggled a
bit. “Tell me again why are you leaving?”
“I haven’t seen my cousin,
Veronica, in a really long time and she always lived on the other side of the
states and now that she’s 5 hour away I can finally go and visit her.” You
exclaimed, getting excited about the fact that you’re going to see your beloved
cousin after so, so long.
“What if a monster invades
the town?” He asked and you stopped folding your clothes to look at him,
raising your eyebrows at him.
“Stiles, if anyone invades
the town there’s always Scott, Malia, Lydia…” you started to say, your face
feeling hot before finishing your sentence, “and they have you. If anyone can
stop those monsters, it’s you..”
no but like you do know that even though tony realized that bucky was innocent he still tried to murder him and would have if steve hadn't been there to stop him? the russos confirmed it. i just don't get it how someone can claim to love a character but still support the person who almost murdered said character in cold blood and still hasn't shown any indication that he's sorry for his actions.
Okay, I’m glad you asked this because it gives me a reason to explain my feelings about the Act 3 fight in Civil War. Heads up for anyone reading this that this is gonna be a pretty long post with a lot of visual evidence.
There’s several major points to the final fight scene:
Had the fight continued, would Tony have killed Bucky?
Understanding Tony’s reaction both from the perspective of grief and also from the perspective of trauma.
Is this fight really about Bucky?
To fully understand the final scene, I think we have to look at all three of these. First and foremost - would Tony have actually killed Bucky?
So, the first several minutes of the fight, Tony hits Steve, knocking to the floor, and restrains him. His attention is clearly focused on Bucky who he engages in a fight. The fight continues for several seconds/minutes, until this important moment:
Tony: Do you even remember them? Bucky: I remember all of them.
Here, Tony has Bucky in a chokehold. Cap is incapacitated somewhere else. Tony could easily snap Bucky’s neck right here, yet he pauses and asks him about his parents. Tony then flies down, still holding Bucky and Cap intercepts them mid-air:
Several things to point out: if Tony was about to kill Bucky, why didn’t he do it just then? They all fall down, Bucky falling onto another platform, Tony and Steve falling to the floor, with Steve rolling forwards. This is an important moment - from here on now the action switches. Tony’s attention is now fixed on Steve solely, not Bucky. The two begin to fight.
Bucky joins in and we have the well known Bucky, Steve and Tony choreography. Then Tony shoots a repulsor beam at Steve, knocking him back, and Bucky attacks Tony, attempts to rip out the reactor at which point Tony’s reactor fires a repulsor beam and Bucky’s arm is ripped off from the blast.
Despite this, Tony doesn’t attempt to use his repulsor, despite having an arm free:
Instead he tries to pry Bucky’s arm away from the reactor. But Bucky is too strong. I’ve rewatched the scene several times and Tony doesn’t actually fire a repulsor with his arm. Instead the reactor begins to glow:
Before it shoots out a beam:
This is also important as it means the reactor has a failsafe in the case of someone trying to remove it.
If Tony wanted to hurt Bucky why didn’t he fire a repulsor from his arm straight into Bucky’s face? Why did he attempt to simply pry Bucky’s hand away? I don’t think he intentionally tried to shoot Bucky’s arm off, instead the reactor has a failsafe and released a repulsor and since Bucky had his arm on the reactor it hit him straight in the arm, causing it to be ripped off from the force.
Once Bucky loses his arm, then Tony hits him with a repulsor in the back which yes, I admit wasn’t necessary and was awful. At this point Cap gets up and we get this iconic shot:
Steve and Tony begin to fight and Steve has the upper hand, Tony is cornered against the wall and has no way of fighting against Steve:
At this point Tony has FRIDAY analyse Cap’s fight pattern and use it against him. Which leads to this point of the fight:
Tony punches Steve several times while he kneels, Bucky’s body behind him. Then he grabs him, and tosses him away from Bucky:
Tony: Stay down. Final warning.
The camera pans to a wide shot, and this, this moment is visually INTEGRAL to this entire fight. Wide shots are intended to show the audience the entire scene, they focus on everything as a whole, revealing to the audience what is going on.
That’s why this shot is so important. Bucky is on the floor, incapable of protecting himself. Steve is several feet away from Bucky and Tony is in between the two. Tony could easily turn around and kill Bucky - so why doesn’t he? The camera pans to this, revealing to us that Bucky (and Steve) are completely vulnurable - note even the visual difference between Tony, standing up, and Bucky and Steve, both on the floor. Here, Tony is solely in control. Yet he issues Cap a warning, and completely ignores Bucky.
This also majorly answers the third point as it keys the audience in completely that at the core, this is not a fight about Bucky. It solidifies the idea that this is not a fight between Bucky and Tony, but a fight between Steve and Tony.
Bucky attempts to intervene as Tony raises his reactor - presumably to hurt Cap - at which point Tony kicks him in the face. Steve lifts Tony and throws him to the floor where he begins to hit him over and over. He rips off Tony’s helmet and raises the shield. Close shots prevent us from seeing what is going on, until we see this:
Visually we expect Steve to kill Tony. He doesn’t. Again, this is very important to the narrative as it mirrors Tony’s attempt to kill Bucky.
Tony attacks Bucky.
Steve attacks Tony.
Tony looks like he might kill Bucky. We never find out if he really would as the fight shifts, but it seems he wouldn’t have actually gone through it.
Steve looks like he is about to kill Tony. He doesn’t.
The two practically mirror each other - the difference is we actually see Steve on the verge of killing Tony, only for him to choose not to. The audience knows then, that no matter how hurt or angry they are, no matter how broken, how furious, how much they fight each other, that ultimately at heart, they are not people who would kill each other - at least in my personal opinion. Steve’s attempt to kill Tony, only for him not to, parallels Tony’s attempt to kill Bucky, only to choose not to - in my personal opinion.
I know that I’ve mainly focused on the first and third point. The second point is also important, in understanding Tony’s reaction. Firstly, someone seeing someone’s murder is highly unsettling to any human being. Tony seeing his parents murdered, hearing them being murdered, is very much the equivalent of someone being exposed to footage of a shooting - it is highly traumatic to witness that type of violence, no matter what it is, and many people actually have to get therapy for this.
Tony’s reaction is also heightened though because what he is witnessing is not strangers, but his own parents being murdered - he is shown his father’s face being caved in, and his mother begging for her husband as she is strangled to death. So not only is Tony exposed to something extremely violent, upsetting and triggering, but it is also done on a personal level to him. Does that mean what he did was right? No. Attacking Bucky was completely wrong, of course. But is it understandable? Yes, in my personal opinion.
Your parent’s death is not something you get over. Now I understand that the difference is that Bucky was brainwashed and made to do what he did. I understand that Bucky is as much a victim as Maria or Howard in this situation completely. But grief and trauma don’t work logically - Tony does not have the time to process what he just saw, he lashes out.
And in the end, despite the fact that he has the chance to kill Bucky, he doesn’t. His focus shifts to Steve.
As to what the writers/directors say, I don’t particularly trust what the writers or the producers say - they are the same people who thought it was normal to have Steve kiss Sharon only 48 hours after Peggy died, so their opinion is not something I trust. Plus, that perspective clashes with the perspective of the stunt choreographer (I think) who says that Tony aims to incapacitate, not harm, throughout the movie.
I don’t in any way think that what Tony did was “right” - but I understand why he did it. If we can understand Steve for nearly trying to kill Tony, if we can understand T’Challa for several times attempting to kill Bucky (note that T’Challa specifically stated that he “will kill Bucky himself”, so there is no doubt as to his intentions), then we can understand Tony’s attempt too. If you decide to continue to dislike Tony for attempting to kill Bucky, then I hope you are prepared to dislike T’Challa too.
[Note: Please do not comment on this post as to how Tony and T’Challa’s cases differ. Canon facts are that T’Challa, like Tony, also attempts to kill Bucky and states his intentions himself: “I’ll kill him myself, Ms. Romanoff”. What he does is premeditated.]
I decided to put together what I think are several important klance screencaps, since I have no self control. This list focuses mainly on the individual looks on their faces in regards to each other, rather than the dialogue. (That’s why there aren’t screencaps from every klance moment in the season here, and it’s mostly just one or the other rather than both of them in the same screen. Because there are probably tons of posts about those already.) This season was really difficult for Keith because of Shiro, and I think his responses to Lance, specifically, are pretty clear to notice.
This right after Lance insists that he’s not a goofball, and Keith just has the most fond look on his face. This is the first time in the entire first episode Keith was actually in a good mood, and it’s because he can’t help but smile and even laugh a little because is Lance serious right now?
This is later in the episode, when Lance comforts Keith about leading in the black lion. Keith looks surprised, but he’s actually willing to listen, when he pretty much disregarded what everyone else said.
Lance shoves down his own unhappiness about the black lion not choosing him, reinforcing his beliefs that he’s not good enough, in order to comfort Keith. Because Lance, as Allura said, puts the good of the team over himself.
And then in the third episode, when Keith is beating himself up for not being a good enough leader, Lance casts him this sympathetic/concerned look before trying to get Keith’s signature determination back to where it usually is. It’s also worth mentioning that the only person Keith listened to the advice of was Lance. Just saying.
In episode six, when Lance chooses to come to Keith with his concerns about if he should even pilot a lion anymore, Keith’s response is an immediate “What are you talking about?” But he’s not mad, which is typical for Keith, he looks worried. Worried, and confused that this would even have crossed Lance’s mind.
And then when Lance leaves, clearly still unsure and upset, Keith makes an effort to cheer him up. Complete with this pure smile.
And then the smile that Lance gives in response. Lance was pretty serious the whole time, not mentioning what he wanted but instead talking about what would be for the good of the team. This look that resulted from Keith’s advice is just so,,, grateful and happy,,, I… moving on.
This is after Lance is attacked by Auxia (also in episode 6). Lance manages to catch the shot with his shield, but is still knocked to the ground with the force of it. Keith immediately runs towards Auxia, and he looks pissed. To me, he looks unusually angry even for Keith-while-fighting standards. Because she hurt Lance, and that’s not gonna stand.
And then Lance shoots the knife that Ezor threw at Keith out of the air before it so much at touched him, and Keith stops fighting just to give Lance this look. It’s the adorably fond smile again, in response to Lance’s “I got you, buddy!” He even fails to notice Auxia creeping behind him at first, because Keith is distracted. Because they’re a team, and if I were Keith in that moment, I’d be wondering “how the hell does Lance think he’s not one of the strongest?”
There’s a lot of really important, really good dialogue between Keith and Lancee that I was ecstatic to see this season. But sometimes, what isn’t outright said is just as important.
This shows how being feeling so small and useless jades a person. Morty, children in general, emotional abuse can turn people into something completely different.
Let’s look at the comics (they’re canon) it shows a Morty being a Rick and a Rick being a Morty.
(Rick and Morty issue 3) It shows a Rick dealing with the abuse Morty usually deals with, and snaps. Our Morty is slowly breaking, in the newest episode, where they detoxify themselves, Morty is shown sociopathic.
I don’t think in the first season he was this way, but he has seen awful things, and dealt with a worse grandfather. He is desensitized.
In the vindicators episode, Morty was shown to be extremely smart. He knew all of Rick’s tricks. He knew how to defuse the bomb and had a present of if it works.
In the interdimensional cable episode, Morty explained it pretty well. I am sure he is more than 20% right, Rick is a genius, Beth is smart too. (Though blinded by emotional trauma), and summer, though emotional, is clever.
Why would it skip Morty? It didn’t, his doubt, dread, and overall teenage angst holds him back. At the beginning, maybe, but if pushed hard enough he will learn how to survive on his own.
Let’s look at Miami Morty, he lazes around the beach all day and dances. He’s happy, dumb and happy.
Morty in season 1 was dumb and happy, feeling loved by his family and unknown of his parents’ marriage issues.
But now he’s aware, aware of so many things. He’s angry, depressed and feels good for nothing. His emotions are high, showing his toxic self he has so much more dread and hatred for himself, for his parents and even his sister.
He is starting to be resentful towards Beth and Jerry. He’s isolated, barely at school and going to terrifying adventures. He has no escape, no socializing of children his age and spending so much time to himself.
Too much time alone with your mind as a child is toxic. My niece when she was with her parents more, used to lock her in her room for hours when she was in trouble. She grew violent, upset easily and jaded. When she was able to socialize, play, and see other children in her age group she became her normal, sweet self again.
Our Morty is not Evil Morty, the creators told us time travel is off the table.
However, Morty is down the same road as Eye patch Morty. Do I believe Rick is Eye Patch’s Rick? Maybe.
But people’s theories and learning the actual twist to the show made season 3 take so long and I think ruined the storyline.
But that’s just the theory.
Oh, and remember how Morty shot Rick in episode 1 of Season 3 because Rick was attacking him verbally?
(Sorry for the late posting!) I read some amazing fics this week, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Open At The Touch by kiaronna, Teen, 6.5k Maybe Nishigori got ahold of a lock of Viktor’s hair, and some Polyjuice potion. Maybe it’s all an elaborate prank. With this as his only reasonable explanation, he steps forward, snags Viktor by his robes and tugs him in. There has to be an explanation, mystical and magical or medical, for the best Seeker in the Quidditch world showing up at his door; something besides his portrait, which won’t stop talking to Yuuri anyway.
I LOOOOOOOVED this HP AU! So cute and funny, and also angsty??? One of my favourite HP AUs yet!
The Roommate Trap by impolitecanadian, Mature, 2k (WIP) Victor doesn’t believe in marriage. So when Chris, his best friend and roommate of 6 years, tells him he’s going to have to move out so he can get married, Victor is reasonably upset. Good thing Victor’s upstairs neighbour is looking for a roommate and maybe a little (okay, a lot) more.
I saw this recommended to me on fan rec friday’s and I thought I would give it a shot! Already entertaining so far, I can’t wait to see what happens next! I also love how it’s set in Canada, that’s pretty cool haha!
28 Tuxesby vodkawrites, Teen, 32k While planning his 28th wedding, Yuuri begins to wonder if he can ever find love for himself.
I. AM. SOBBING. I LOVED THIS FIC SO MUCH!! The ending had me shook, laughing, crying, screaming!! I loved it!
What Now?by shereadsthestars, Mature, 15k (WIP) Viktor Nikiforov, Niki to his closest friends- well, closest friend, singular, prefers to keep his nose clean. He’s not the type to hold a strong presence in the room, or even dominate the conversation. He’s quiet, and mindful. And would really just like to finish out the rest of his college career in peace. So it’s no question that his unwavering, slightly over-the-top infatuation with one Yuuri Katsuki is a bit of a problem.
So you all know I’m the biggest fan of college/university AUs, so I had to read this when I saw it on FRF! I love how it’s a reverse AU, I am so obsessed with shy/studious Victor!! (The long hair is also a big bonus haha) Thumbs up!
Much To Do About Everything by DiAnna44, Teen, 5.4k (WIP) Victor and Yuuri don’t like each other. Which is, of course, perfectly acceptable. Except they never shut up about it, and Phichit and Chris, who are both tired of hearing about it and tasked with the duty of being the wonderful best friends that they are, decide to finally do something about it. Starfleet Academy/Star Trek AU.
GIVE ME ALL THE STAR TREK AUs!!! I love this fic already, the rivals aspect is giving me LIFE! I cannot wait to see where the story goes!
Jackpotby Ashida, Explicit, 5.6k ”Did you think you could get away with it again, Yuuri? Or are you getting greedy?“ Victor drawled low, taunting, trying to bring that person he knew out so they could keep playing. There was no point in Katsuki Yuuri denying it though, they’d played this game for years now. "Maybe I just wanted your attention?” Yuuri looked up and smirked something mischievous, something sinister. That guise melted into the wicked thing that Yuuri was, and Victor knew he was the one who’d been caught.
*fans self* Oh my lord this is SUCH a good one-shot! Gambler extraordinaire!Yuuri??? Married to a rich casino owner Victor??? This. Is. Everything.
This was such a fun and entertaining fic! Light and easy read, you have to check this out!
Falling For Your Charmsby Reiya, Teen, 12k (WIP) Professor Katsuki’s crush on Professor Nikiforov is supposed to be a great secret. So naturally, the whole school knows.
I was really feeling the Harry Potter AUs this week, apparently, and I’m so glad I was! This is SUCH an amazing fic by one of my favourite authors, and made me fall in love with this AU all over again. Must read!
This is a story that my grandfather liked to tell. It’s kind of long, and I can’t say if it’s true, but it seems to fit the very old and cantankerous guy I knew, who never, ever let a grudge go. I mean, in the 1980s and 90s, he would sometimes go and yell at Democratic candidates for office, because Woodrow Wilson had made him fight in WW1.
The story actually starts with that, kind of. You see, Grampa immigrated to the US early enough that the first election he could vote in, he voted for Teddy Roosevelt. Wilson won, though, and then he ran for reelection under the slogan “He Kept Us Out of the War.” Which seemed like a good platform, so my grandfather voted for Wilson. Few months after that, he got us into the war, and a few months after that, my grandfather was in the trenches somewhere in France.
Hey! If you're still taking prompts, could you write about neil and Andrew having a conversation about Neil's past? Like the stuff he had to do to survive and the stuff he went through with the worlds shittiest parents? Also I'm pretty sure neil has killed people like it makes complete sense so maybe andreil talking about that?
There’s a band of pale blue light nipping at the tops of the trees and sharpening the silhouettes of the houses, but everything else is fresh and dark. Andrew smokes with the pack clenched in his fist, the cherry of the cigarette winking at the street lamps winking at the orange moon.
Their front porch isn’t like the rush of the rooftop, but he can get that same jitter of fear from Neil nowadays, and he’s more portable. He’d left him knotted in the bedsheets an hour ago, and knowing he’s inside somewhere at his back is burning him up. Andrew inhales and focuses on the exhale, the way the smoke still tries to hurt him when it should’ve given up. He likes that nicotine doesn’t leave him alone.
Neil slips out the front door and lets the screen door clatter, and Andrew knows that he’s upset before he sits down two steps below Andrew, holding his own head.
He doesn’t ask; just smokes fervently. The moon bobs its head sympathetically, wind catches the smoke and breaks it over Neil’s head like water on rocks.
It occurs to Andrew that Neil isn’t going to start this conversation, because he likes to think things through on his own, solve them wrong, and tell Andrew about his mistakes later. He’s insufferably convinced of his own problem-solving abilities, then obsessed with the mechanism of his own missteps.
“What?” Andrew asks impatiently. He flicks ash from his cigarette and holds it out in front of Neil’s face. Neil sidles through his own tangled thinking for long enough to glance up. He leans forward and sucks the smoke from between Andrew’s fingers.
When he looks away, gusting smoke from his open mouth, he says, “Matt called. We fought.”
“You fought,” Andrew guesses.
Neil looks agitated, blue in the choked light, eyes black and furious. “He was being unfair. He keeps trying to tell me what’s right or wrong lately, because he thinks I’ve been— been deprived, like my experiences were outside of humanity, or morality, and it’s so— condescending.”
“You’re only realizing this now? All of the foxes are condescending. It is the only way they can avoid their own failure.”
“This was different,” Neil says, shaking his head. “I can tell when they’re saying things because they want to see my reaction, and this wasn’t that. He meant what he was saying.”
“And what was that?”
Neil goes gagged silent. He shifts backwards up to Andrew’s stair without looking at him, settling into the groove worn into the wood.
“That killing someone makes you a monster. That murder is the worst thing you can do to a person.”
20 Autobot Leaders Rated by How Much I Want to Punch Them
Starting with the big guy, the granddaddy of them all, G1 Optimus Prime. He’s like a father to me. I can’t in good conscience punch him, even if he sometimes deserves it for bad puns. 1/10 punchability I just can’t do it
Rodimus Prime ranks high in the punchability for some because when Optimus died in the original movie, it traumatized kids so much that all their negative feelings got channeled into unbridled rage towards the guy who replaced him. However, I hate those guys because they became insufferable as adults, so that really just lowers Roddy’s punchability for me personally. 4/10 punchability he still kind of deserves it though
Grimlock led the Autobots for a length of time I can’t remember after Optimus died in the Marvel comics. His was a reign of terror. I can’t decide if his jughead crown is kickin or if i want to kick it off him. 7/10 punchability he gets some lenience for his childlike innocence
Another Marvel comics leader was Fortress Maximus, who was also Cerebros. He was also the leader in the Headmasters anime after Rodimus flew off into space forever but I don’t think he actually had a personality in that. He’s a matryoshka of Autobot leaders with each getting smaller and more punchable than the last, ending in Moody College Student Spike Witwicky, who is thankfully the first one on this list who I don’t have to climb something to punch in the face. 9/10 punchability I’m a very short person so I might have to climb something anyways but that isn’t going to stop me
Last Marvel comics character, I swear. Captain Picard Hi-Q binary bonded with Optimus for a while, then Optimus died (this was about the third time), and Hi-Q eventually turned into Optimus so we just considered Optimus alive again. Don’t think too hard about it. 3/10 punchability I really like Star Trek TNG so I probably wouldn’t punch him
Ginrai’s robot self looks exactly like Optimus Prime, but he isn’t. Why he looks like him is sort of hand-waved away in the anime. The real-life reason, of course, is because he was just the Japanese release of Powermaster Optimus Prime. Ginrai is really good because he talks like an American teenager even when his robot form separated from his human self to become the Autobot commander at the end of Super-God Masterforce. 0/10 punchability I just can’t really punch a guy wearing converse, skinny jeans, and suspenders
Star Saber makes me forget that the Autobots were ever good guys. I don’t think he even has a personality outside of “noble and heroic leader.” He adopted a human son and tried to send him to a Catholic school but he doesn’t even buy him a uniform. The kid barely even goes to school in the end. 9/10 punchability don’t adopt a human if you’re not prepared to care for him
Optimus Primal is a good Autobot leader because he never even set out to be anything more than a captain on one ship but ended up sacrificing himself to bring life back to the planet, probably sparking a religious following. He won the “Power of the Primes” vote so he’s got to have a pretty low punchability, but he also looks like his malleble gorilla face would feel nice on my powerful fist. 5/10 punchability when POTP stuff starts coming will his name change to “optimus primal prime”?
Lio Convoy being a cat makes me not want to punch him so much. However, he isn’t a good father. Don’t worry about the kid not really being his son in any sense of the term. Why is ineptitude at fatherhood a recurring theme for Autobot leaders? 8/10 punchability Lio Junior deserved better
I’ll admit that Beast Wars Neo is the only thing on this list that I haven’t seen or read any of, so Big Convoy is mostly here for completion’s sake. Hence I’m rating him entirely on his appearance. Mostly I wouldn’t want to punch a mammoth, because they’re extinct, but I think he could take it. It would be a good workout for both of us. 10/10 punchability no hard feelings, we’re just two dudes lovingly punching each other
In Japan, he’s known as Fire Convoy, continuing their tradition of Autobot leader names, but in the west he’s the first-ever reboot of Optimus Prime. I don’t have a lot of opinions on him as a person or leader, but his existence opened the floodgates of Optimus Primes to come, which I have mixed feelings on. 5/10 punchability I can’t think of a reason to punch him, but I also can’t think of a reason not to
Armada Optimus Prime suffers from being Armada Optimus Prime. I think this was when they really managed to distill “Optimus Prime” down into its truest form. No longer was Optimus Prime a character, but a concept that extended beyond fiction and into our world. Optimus Prime means something. Optimus Prime is a figure for justice, honor, and liberty. 8/10 punchability I still can’t forget Energon though
Do I have to say anything. I’m not even somebody who vehemently dislikes Hot Shot, but for the love of god, why did he ever get to be a leader. 6/10 punchability I’d punch him but I wouldn’t put a lot of force into it, he’s not even worth it
Movie Optimus Prime is. uh. something else, all right. I can admire the movie taking the idea of Optimus Prime and going “okay, but what if he was also a murderbeast?” because I think that’s something we all really wanted to see play out. In practice it kind of scares me. 2/10 punchability I’m worried if I went for his face I’d no longer have mine
Animated Optimus Prime is a good boy. A baby boy. He’s trying his best in a world that seems against him. We all love him. 0/10 punchability I simply can’t bring myself to mar those luscious lips
I’m sure Animated Ultra Magnus did some great things during the war, but, yunno, seeing how Cybertron under him during peacetime is sort of a Stratocracy, I question his fitness to be the leader of a planet. They really gonna let the government run experiments on civilians? Okay. Alright. 4/10 I don’t want to punch him per se but I do sort of want to lead an armed rebellion against him
Hhh. HHHH. HOOGH. HHHAAAHH. HEH. HHhhhHHH. Just seeing Sentinel Prime’s face fills me with anger. If let loose, this rage could level mountains, sink continents, and incinerate entire solar systems. If there is any good in the cosmos, Sentinel Prime will not go unpunched. His face will be shattered into pieces with the sheer power of my unbridled fury. 10,000/10 punchability I have already punched him, spiritually, and I will do it again
I mean, alright. Prime Optimus Prime is kind of the distilled essence of Optimus Prime. If you took all the other Optimus Primes, and took all the things they had in common, and then took out a little bit of the anger because let’s be real here all the other Optimus Primes are quite a bit angrier than this one, you’d get Aligned Optimus Prime. Which is kind of how the Aligned continuity as a whole works. So, yeah, That Sure Is Optimus Prime. 3/10 punchability his soft-spoken words of wisdom would calm me down before I ever even raised my fist
Heatwave is the quintessential non-Optimus Autobot leader. He’s noble and courageous with a good sense of justice, but he was thrust into leadership without being the best and it and is a bit of a hothead. You can use that exact sentence to describe so many of the bots on this list. 4/10 punchability I don’t want to use violent methods when it comes to Rescue Bots but sometimes Heatwave’s personality warrants it
I honestly can’t believe it took 30 years for a Bumblebee to be leader for reals. It happened so gradually that nobody was surprised when it happened, and yet it also feels like nobody can really accept it. I know I can’t. He doesn’t even look like any Bumblebee. Everyone knew that if a song was stuck in your head, it was because your soulmate was singing it. Eddie had always thought it was cute until it began happening to him. Now the main reason he wanted to meet his soulmate was to strangle them for singing such annoying songs.
Eddie struggled to concentrate on the textbook in front of him. He groaned and closed the book, resting his face in his hands. Bill gave him a concerned look over his laptop.
“Something wrong, Eddie?” he asked.
The brunet looked at him in exasperation. “They’re singing again. Why do they always have to start singing whenever I’m doing something important!?”
Bill smiled sympathetically. “What is it this time?”
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me / I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed / She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb / In the shape of an “L” on her forehead
“Fucking ‘All Star’ by Smash Mouth. I hate my life, Bill.”
His friend laughed. “You say that now but you’ll change your mind when you meet your soulmate.”
The hypochondriac rolled his eyes. “Whatever, Bill. You’re not the one with a soulmate that sings meme songs and weird indie shit. I wish my soulmate sang pretty songs like yours,” he grumbled.
Hey now, you’re an all-star, get your game on, go play / Hey now, you’re a rock star, get the show on, get paid / And all that glitters is gold / Only shooting stars break the mold
Eddie whined again and buried his face in his arms.
“I want to die.”
He shot Bill a glare when he laughed.
“Are we rehearsing tonight?” Bill asked the lead singer and founder of their band.
Richie groaned. “I don’t want to but we have to keep practicing that song we’re gonna cover for the show on Friday, which is two days from now. So yeah, we’re rehearsing.”
Bill snorted. “Alright, I’ll let Bev know then.”
He left to call their bassist and Richie leaned back in the lounge chair in the Student Union. He began to hum the tune of their new song. The trashmouth pulled out his notebook and scribbled down some notes and lyric ideas.
I come home in the morning light / My mother says when you gonna live your life right / Oh mother dear we’re not the fortunate ones / And girls they wanna have fun / Oh girls just want to have fun
Richie smiled wide as he stilled his hand. He really wanted to meet his soulmate. From what he could gather by their taste in music, they’d be fun to be around.
“What are you smiling about?”
He looked up. Bill sat down across from him, eyebrow raised knowingly. Richie’s cheeks reddened as he looked back to his notebook.
When the working / When the working day is done / Oh when the working day is done oh girl / Girls, they wanna have fun
“My soulmate’s singing.”
Bill nodded, a smirk forming. “Beverly’s on her way,” he told him. “She’s bringing dinner, also.”
“God bless her fucking soul.”
Eddie watched as Stan threw himself dramatically on the couch in his apartment. He groaned loudly before regaining his composure and sitting up.
“Everything okay, Stan?” Eddie asked, genuinely concerned for his friend.
The curly haired teen looked up at him. “Yes and no.”
The brunet raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“Yes, I’m fine as in there isn’t anything actually wrong with me. No, I’m not fine because my soulmate won’t stop singing love songs.”
Eddie gave him a jealous look. “I’d take that over getting ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ stuck in my head every hour.”
Stan snorted. “I really want to meet them but it’s unlikely. I just hope the chances are good enough that we go to the same university.”
“I get what you mean. I want to meet my soulmate and beat the crap out of them for getting all those shitty songs stuck in my head, but yeah, I also want to meet them for the obvious reasons.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry, Eddie, but your soulmate sounds like a fucking nightmare,” his friend said. “Anyway, ready to start this dumbass history project?”
Eddie groaned and went over to the TV and turned it on.
“By the way, my roommate might be back, like, halfway through this documentary,” he explained as he inserted the DVD.
“I’m warning you now but history is honestly the most boring subject so don’t get mad at me if I fall asleep, which is very likely. Just pay extra attention,” Stan told him, pulling his feet up on the couch.
Eddie rolled his eyes and sat with him on the couch, pressing the play button. He tried to focus but the dull voice of the narrator explaining the French Revolution was making it hard. That and the new song stuck in his head.
Your sister thinks that I’m a freak / She’s been ignoring my calls, we haven’t spoken in a week / I get so drunk that I can’t speak / Yeah, nothing’s working and the future’s looking bleak and I say
“Really? Now of all times?”
“Song stuck in your head?” Stan asked as he repositioned himself to lie down.
Eddie nodded miserably. “Yeah, and it sounds loud. You know what I mean.”
“No, not really.”
Three beers and I’m so messed up, get drunk and I can’t shut up / She says that I drink too much / I fucked up and she hates my guts / She says that I need to grow up
“It always happens when I really need to focus. I feel like they know,” Eddie explained.
“Well, block it out and pay attention. I can feel my soul dying as this documentary progresses.”
The hypochondriac laughed at his friend and drew his legs up on the couch so he was sitting crisscross.
I’ll drink ‘til I’m staring at the ceiling / I’ll be just fine I’m numb and losing feeling / I can’t tell lies anymore
“What are we even supposed to do for this assignment?” Stan asked, looking over at Eddie.
He shrugged. “I think we’re supposed to watch the documentary and then write some questions? Our professor said he’d pick the best ones and use them as essay questions for the next test.”
I just don’t know what to do, I’m still fucked up over you / She says that I drink too much / Hawaiian red fruit punch / She says I need to grow up
“It shouldn’t be too bad considering the French Revolution is pretty straightforward,” said Eddie.
His friend groaned again, leaning his head back against the couch. “Kill me.”
True to his word, Stan fell asleep about ten minutes in. Eddie tried his best to pay attention, scribbling down possible ideas for questions, but four more songs came and went. The documentary had just ended when he heard the apartment door open. He looked up from the TV where he was removing the disc.
“Hey,” Eddie waved. “How was practice?”
Bill dropped his bookbag on the ground and headed into the kitchen.
“It was good,” he told Eddie as he poured himself a bowl of cereal before draping himself over the armchair. “We got a lot of stuff done and perfected the two covers we’re doing for Fridays show. Which you better still be going to.”
Eddie rolled his eyes when Bill gave him a pointed look. “I’m going.”
He grinned. “Good. Anyway, what the hell were you watching?”
“It was for a stupid assignment for my history class. Speaking of, Stanley, wake up! It’s over.”
He shoved Stan with his foot, jerking him awake.
“Okay, first off? Rude. Secondly, your couch is very uncomfortable, please tell me you don’t make guest sleep here.”
Eddie shrugged at him. “Do you wanna, like, stay and get take out or something?”
Stan stood up, stretching his arms over his head, causing his shirt to ride up a bit. “No, I should probably get back to my apartment and hope my roommate hasn’t burned it down,” he replied.
He seemed to just now notice Bill. “Oh, you must be Eddie’s roommate. I’m Stanley.”
Bill smiled at him and Eddie noticed Stan’s cheeks flush. “Bill.”
“Nice to meet you. Anyway, I should head out. I’ll see you tomorrow, Eddie.”
Eddie said his goodbyes as he walked out of the apartment. He noticed how his roommate’s eyes lingered on the doorway.
“Hey, just out of curiosity, is he single?” Bill asked, looking back at Eddie.
“Unbelievable,” he shook his head as he walked back to his room.
“What, Eddie? Are you going to answer my question or not?” his roommate shouted after him.
He ignored him in favor of his phone vibrating. He checked to see that it was a text from Stan.
[ from: bird boy ] Okay so uhh
[ from: bird boy ] Your roommate is hot as fuck
[ from: bird boy ] Like,, raw me please
[ to: bird boy ] never ever ever make me read those words ever again in my life
[ from: bird boy ] Pass the word on to him I’m begging you
[ to: bird boy ] im blocking you
“Is it okay if my roommate joins us for lunch? I promised I’d go with him last week but obviously forgot and then made plans with you. He just texted me asking where we’re meeting.”
Richie looked up and Bill and laughed. “Fine with me, Big Bill. You talk a lot about your roommate. I’m excited to meet him.”
Hold up, they don’t love you like I love you / Slow down, they don’t love you like I love you / Back up, they don’t love you like I love you / Step down, they don’t love you like I love you / Can’t you see there’s no other man above you? / What a wicked way to treat the girl that loves you / Hold up, they don’t love you like I love you / Oh, down, they don’t love you like I love you
He cracked a smile. “I really want to meet my soulmate.”
Bill raised an eyebrow.
His friend snorted and rolled his eyes before returning to texting his roommate about his whereabouts.
How did it come down to this? / Scrolling through your call list / I don’t wanna lose my pride, but I’m a fuck me up a bitch / Know that I kept it sexy, and know I kept it fun / There’s something that I’m missing, maybe my head for one
“Okay, he’s on his way. I told him I’d order for him so let’s get going.”
Richie nodded and followed Bill into the restaurant. They ordered their food, with Bill ordering also for his roommate, before diving deep into conversation.
“Bill, I swear to god, if you ask about him again I’m going to kill you.”
A short brunet stopped abruptly behind Bill, unaware of Richie’s presence. He took this time to admire him. He was cute. Really cute. Richie grinned.
“Hiya,” he said with a grin, taking the newcomer’s eyes off his friend.
“This is my friend Richie. Richie, this is my roommate Eddie,” Bill explained. “He’ll be having lunch with us if that’s okay with you.”
Eddie gave Richie a quick once over and a small smile before sitting down next to Bill. Their food arrived shortly after and they began to eat.
“So, Eddie,” the trashmouth began. “Are you coming to our show on Friday?”
Eddie looked up, his look a bit skeptical. “Our show?” he repeated.
“I’m sure you’ve heard all about the band from Bill.”
“You’re in that band?”
Richie laughed. “Eds, I formed that band!”
He grimaced. “Don’t call me Eds.”
The dark-haired teen reached over and pinched his new friend’s cheek. “But its cute, like you!”
Eddie slapped his hand away, only looking mildly embarrassed. He glanced at Bill.
“Is he always like this?” he asked.
Bill looked at his friend and sighed. “Sadly.”
Richie placed his hand on his chest in mock offense. “You hurt me, Bill. This isn’t how you were treating me last night. Why do you always have to act so different when we’re in public?” he whined as he began to pretend to cry dramatically.
“Beep beep, Richie.”
Richie grinned wide and pushed his chair back. “I have to go. You’d better be at that show tomorrow, Eddie, or I will be very sad!”
He slung his bag over his shoulder and headed toward the exit.
“He didn’t pay,” he heard Eddie say to Bill.
“This isn’t the first time.”
Richie waved over his shoulder and blew Bill a kiss. He winked at Eddie, his grin widening when he saw him blush.
Friday finally rolled around and Eddie decided to invite Stan to Bill’s band’s show. He made sure to specifically mention that his roommate was in this said band because he knew Stanley would never go otherwise.
“Can you please stop talking about you and my roommate fucking,” Eddie pleaded, pressing his fingers to his temples. “And are you sure you still want to go? You weren’t looking too good earlier.”
“It’s the depression,” Stan replied, giving him a look. “But I’m okay now.”
Eddie nodded. “Okay. Let me know if you want to leave at any time and we will.”
Can I get your number? / Can I get you into bed? / When we wake up in the morning / Will you give me lots of head?
“Oh, that’s nice,” Eddie sighed as they got closer to their destination.
“Me too. Or at least parts of a song.”
Everybody wants to love you / Everybody wants to love you! / Everybody wants to love you
They approached the venue, easily identifiable by music and cheering. They paid the entry fee and walked inside. Eddie was immediately greeted by sweaty, dancing bodies and loud music. He saw Richie up on stage, strumming a guitar. He spotted Bill in the back on the drums, and two other individuals: a girl on bass and a dark-skinned guy on another guitar. He couldn’t help but stare at Richie, who caught his gaze. The dark-haired boy grinned and winked at him before continuing with the song.
“Will you lend me your toothbrush? Will you make me breakfast in bed? Ask me to get married And then make me breakfast again!”
Eddie watched as the rest of the band joined in for the chorus.
“Everybody wants to love you.”
He froze. The Richie sang the next part alone.
“Everybody wants to love you!”
Eddie felt as if his skin was on fire. His hands started shaking and checked his pockets, cursing internally because of course he didn’t bring his inhaler.
“Eddie!” Stan snapped him out of his daze. Distantly he heard the band sing another line. “Are you okay? You look like you’re about to throw up. Do you need me to take you to the bathroom?”
He could only nod. He didn’t think that he would react this way to meeting his soulmate. Stan grabbed his hand and led him through the crowd. He was dimly aware of the song ending and people cheering. He didn’t notice the look on Richie’s face when Stan pulled him into the bathroom. He turned the sink on and wet a paper towel, dabbing it on his face to cool himself down.
“Want to tell me what’s going on?”
“The lead singer of that band? The one on the guitar?”
“Richie? Yeah, he’s my roommate and best friend. He’s also terrible. What about him?” Stan asked, genuinely concerned for his wellbeing.
Eddie stared at him. “He’s your roommate? You live with him?”
“Unfortunate, I know. Wait, how do you know him?”
“Bill introduced me.”
Stan rolled his eyes. “Oh, god. You’re the guy he’s been gushing on about for the past twenty-four hours. It’s disgusting.”
“Says the guy who won’t shut up about my roommate,” Eddie accused.
“Yeah, whatever. Anyway, what does you almost having an asthma attack have to do with Richie?” Stanley questioned, crossing his arms.
“Well he’s, uh, he’s my soulmate,” Eddie confessed.
The curly haired boy’s eyes went wide. “Holy shit. How do you know? God, he’s going to be ecstatic when he finds out.”
Eddie reddened. “That song. It was stuck in my head on the walk over here. It sounded like it got so much louder when we came inside.”
Stan nodded. “Well, you have to tell him because he looked hurt when I had to drag you in here.”
“I literally only met him yesterday,” Eddie whined.
Stanley rolled his eyes. “Yet you like him! Man up and tell him that he’s your soulmate.” He gave Eddie a quick hug before exiting the bathroom.
Eddie took a deep breath. He moved to open the bathroom door but it was pushed open. Richie grabbed his hand.
“Are you okay?” he asked worriedly.
He short-circuited for a second. “I have to tell you something.”
Richie rubbed his thumb over the palm, making Eddie shiver. “Okay.”
Eddie looked away, cheeks red. “You’re my soulmate.”
“On the walk here, I had that song you just played stuck in my head and I’d never heard it before,” Eddie admitted.
“What did you listen to before meeting Bill for lunch yesterday?” Richie asked him.
“Um, I listened to Beyoncé. Lemonade specifically, but I don’t know what this has to do with anything.”
Richie pushed him back against the bathroom wall and grabbed the sides of his face. He kissed him hard, hands moving from his cheeks to his waist. Eddie was thrown off guard but immediately regained his composure, kissing him back earnestly, his fingers curling in his shirt. Richie coaxed his mouth open, the wet sounds of mouths and tongues pressing together filled the small room.
“I can’t believe you just made out with me in a fucking bathroom. Do you know how germy and disgusting these places are?” Eddie panted as they broke apart.
“Relax, babe. It’s not like I’m fucking you in a stall,” he grinned and pressed his forehead to Eddie’s. “Unless you want me to.”
Eddie pushed him away. “Beep beep, Richie,” he used the phrase he heard Bill say yesterday to get him to shut up. “Absolutely disgusting.”
Richie laughed and kissed him again, this time gentler. He pulled back and placed a kiss on his temple, intertwining their fingers together.
“I gotta get back out there,” he said, pulling him toward the exit. “I’ll dedicate the next song to you, darlin’.”
Eddie smiled wide as his soulmate led him back out into the crowd. He’d strangle him for singing all those annoying songs another night. Tonight was all about them.
