anonymous asked:

can you share some favorite larry fics? sorry if youve answered this before xx

I have answered this before but I literally never ever get tired of talking about my favorite stories!!!! Here are some of them in no particular order.

1. My all time favorite story ever is Wild and Unruly by @gloriaandrews and @100percentsassy, though literally every single thing they write, together or apart, is amazing and on my favorites list. I love Wild and Unruly most though probably because I’ve worked on dances before and am a massive horse person and Dolly Parton fan and can’t believe a story exists where Harry serenades his cow named Jolene with Beyonce because like…that’s what the inside of my heart looks like all the time??? Also it’s just so real and romantic and I fucking love every second of it.

2. Hush. by @wankerville is one of my favorite works of all time and space, too. It was one of the first fics I read in the fandom, and it stuck with me so intensely and so powerfully, like…I really feel this story so close to my heart, on such a profound level. I remember the first time read it at work and I just wept and got choked up the whole time, eyes just burning for hours. Once I finished it I felt this insane comforting warmth wash over me, like all the trauma I experienced in high school being in love with a girl who suffered from debilitating internalized homophobia had somehow been soothed or dislodged. There’s something so intimate and tender and soft about her characters, but also about just the way she writes, and it really moves me in a way I can’t accurately describe? I don’t know I just love it. I love the way she choose not to write technically perfect, and instead invents words of breaks rules to convey a feeing or tone which exists  beyond the constraints of technicality. It’s so inspired. Like, I often talk about how fan fiction as a genre is inherently reparative and restorative for queer individuals, and when I talk about that, the careful love with which @wankerville writes is exactly what I mean.

3. My heart is breathing for this moment in time  by usedtothebeach, otherwise known as the Time Travellers Wife AU is another favorite of mine…it’s so fucking gut-wrenching and painful and REAL, and it’s SUCH a clever play on canon that I legit almost forget Louis isn’t a time traveler sometimes?! As a canon writer I just really admire how she wove the real story into her universe, it’s absolutely masterful and aside from it being well-crafted, it’s just so emotional and evocative and makes me FEEL SO MUCH. Like wow Harry pines so hard for so long and it’s so aching and ugh. I just love it, even though I hardly ever reread it because it fucking devastates me.

4. we can take the long way home by @eleadore is one of my all time favorite stories, which is crazy because it’s literally about fertility kink and I hate mpreg and ABO as a general rule? It is seriously one of the sexiest, most intimate, most intense reads off my fucking life though, and I don’t say that lightly. I reread it ALL the time. I actually had a really really hard time choosing one of @eleadore‘s fics because every single one of them is scorchingly hot and very high on my rereading list, but the fact that this is one of the hottest stories ever and it specifically deals with a kink I usually won’t touch with a ten foot pole is a huge testament to how amazing it is. so. Honestly though, read everything she’s ever written though…her TXF fic is fucking remarkable and so is her cabin in the woods fic and the one where they play truth or dare by the pool? Help.

5. Fuck, so @mediaville is another author I love every single thing from, but again I’m gonna pick a favorite based on the fact it has things I usually don’t dig but I’m still obsessed with it and say One Day to Believe In You. As you all know I lOVE canon fic but I tend to have a pretty strict window in the timeline where I can believably imagine them getting together….like basically anything after week two of TXF I’m like “this is canon compliant but not CANON” and have so suspend disbelief lmao. This story features a SUPER late tension break, and it still manages to be so fucking amazingly hot and believable and the confession scene leading up to the sex? Holy shit it’s hot. Like too hot to think about in public. Anyway I know you asked for larry fic but @mediaville also cowrote an AMAZING bressie fic with balefully that’s FIRE if you’re into that sort of thing.

6. I also absolutely love To the Ends of the Earth by  @alienproof, it was one of the first canon fics I read where everything seemed really real? I also love the remote cabin love confession trope and I think it cab be a hard one to pull off. I love the tension in this story and the masturbation scene and that Harry has a cat named Neon and spends time making food for his middle aged neighbors…it just seems like a very true and tender hiatus characterization of them. And the sex scenes? Damn.

7. I sort of feel like @mizzwilde personally wrote Young and Beautiful for me, even though she has no idea who I am, lol. I am just such a sucker for bratty private school boys doing drugs until they fall apart, and Velvet Goldmine is my all time favorite movie…fuck. it’s just so tailored to my interests that I don’t even mind that it’s 100k build with no smut lmao. It’s just a beautifully written dramatic luxurious story and everything about it is absurd and wonderful in the best way.

8. I adore everything @loadedgunn has written (her sex scenes changed my life?) but my favorite is May We Stay Lost on Our Way Home, otherwise known as the fairy fic. Again…as a general rule, I hATE fantasy fic or stuff with magic/supernatural elements in it, but this story is so unbelievably sweet and hot and funny and real that it transcends it’s genre. I love every second of it and Louis LITERALLY HAS WINGS? Like it’s just such a gloriously written fairytale, but still manages to be distinctly Harry and Louis, which is one of my favorite things about this author: her AUs manage to be SO true to their canon characterizations that it almost feels like reading canon fic. There are parts of this story it that really touch and move me, and then it also has one of my all time favorite sex scenes in it, and then this fucking scene where like…Louis uses root bondage to hold down Harry while he magically tattoos him and the sadist/tattoo artist in me LIVES FOR IT. Basically, this fic has everything and I fucking love it.

God this was so hard, I keep thinking of more I love! I’m gonna leave it at this though, since most of my other favorite stories are by these authors, who are all phenomenal.

anonymous asked:

Do you have any good Merlin fanfictions you can rec? Merthur or otherwise?

I’ve been putting off this question ONLY BECAUSE… I had to go through several fanfic rec lists that I’ve followed before to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. I wish I was more organized! I should really start my own reclist but unfortunately my list is going to be fairly short given that I’m an incredibly slow reader as it is and I usually go for 100k epics… so when I DO read, those sorts of stories hold my attention for quite awhile.

Everything’s Merthur and I’m not apologizing for it. I wouldn’t mind reading some Merdred and Mergana though! I’m always open for recommendations for any pairing, really.

  • We Are All Diamonds by footloose  :  This was one of my first Merthur fanfics and by far still one of my all time favorites. This one was recommended to me by a good friend of mine. Just— everything footloose does… and I mean everything— they have a way with words and painting a scene and you can tell research is put behind all of their works. The word count is high but the writing captures you immediately and the buildup between Arthur’s and Merlin’s relationship is perfect. All time favorite right here. 10/10 would read again.

  • Tributes by TheAvalonian  :  This is one of those The Hunger Games / Merlin crossovers. I read this in one night and it’s just over 80k words long. Um. It’s really good, okay? Technically a romance but you know, it really does concentrate a bit more on the games if I remember correctly. I mean, there are cameras and they’re well aware of that so if you’re looking for smut recs, don’t go here. But recs with plot? Yes.

  • The Sorcerer and the King by winterhill  :  This was, I think, quite literally the second fanfic I ever read in the Merlin fandom. THIS STORY IS SICK. It’s a great canon-divergent AU if that’s what you’re into— and I could certainly use more of those. Because while I like modern verses, it’s the canon-setting AU’s that are my favorite and this story, while it borders a bit on the uncomfortable with certain aspects, was definitely worth the read. Excellent plot and the scenes with magic were simply stunning.

  • Overboard by shiny-starlight  :  Takes place in a modern setting— one of those, Merlin and Arthur meet and can’t stand each other at first. This one has a REALLY fun twist to it though and I have every intention of reading this again.

  • Game, Set, Match by ingberry  :  A bit shorter than what I’m used to reading— this was adorable. And Merlin’s jokes were the absolute best part of this, in my honest opinion. The sexual tension was also pretty awesome.

  • Stars Above, Stones Below by Destina  :  Funny story with this— I actually haven’t finished reading it yet. I have several fanfics that are ‘slowly in progress of being read’ and this has been sitting in my tabs for several months now because I keep jumping around. I do that a lot with stories, actually, so that by no means is to be taken as this story is anything less than absolutely amazing. It makes it much more than that, because USUALLY I won’t recommend a fanfic I haven’t finished all the way through. I just— I love how they handled Merlin’s magic reveal. Love love love love love.

  • Shelter from the Storm by scatterglory  :  One-shot, shorter than what I usually read, but so incredibly unique and sad and bittersweet. It has a happy ending though, no worries. UGH, IT WAS SO GOOD THOUGH.

So those are all the stories that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and would read again… now let’s talk about my favorite authors who have countless stories.

  • Hisa-Ai  :  This author’s an avid Merthur writer and omfgggg all her stories (or the ones I’ve had the chance to read) have that sweet undertone that I generally LOVE to read in one-shots. For the fluffy ones at least— I’ve yet to read any of her angst but it’s coming. But that lighthearted interaction is my favorite— the banter is the best and I just love how she portrays Merlin and Arthur’s chemistry. My favorites so far have been I Think You Dropped Something (You Bought Roses) (GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD), Something In the Air, Your Seat, and Worth the Wait. There’s still soooo much more I want to read by her. <3

  • neuroticnick  :  I’m not gonna like, this writer is my smut central when I want to read REALLY GOOD SMUT but still have an amazing drawn out plot. OMFG, THEY HAVE WRITTEN SO MUCH. And here’s the thing— it’s all so very different. Nine times out of ten, I’ve found Merlin to be the more dominant partner and I like that a lot because people tend to write it the other way. But— gosh, they switch up so many characteristics but they make it work. It’s really amazing. You’ve gotta check them out. Some HAVE been my cup of tea while others were more ehhhh, especially the PWP’s but that’s what I love about neuroticnick. I think there’s something for everyone. My favorites include My Boy Builds Cars, You’re the Voice (omfg, read it. Read it. Do yourself a favor.), and I Only Wanna Dance With You.

Alright. Now let’s talk about Loaded March.

It’s, again, by footloose. Same author as with We Are All Diamonds mentioned above. I’ve been slowly following this series since… April? May? Either way— I’m on the thirteenth installment now out of fourteen. The series is still ongoing. The word count is, um, massive.

It is so worth the read.

Basically— I remember looking at the summary for this and thinking ‘military fic? no thanks’. Like, that’s not something I would generally read. But when a friend recommended it later, I said, alright. Let’s give it a shot. The first book— once you get used to all the military lingo (it’s probably not as bad as I’m making it out to be), the story really took off. Merlin and Arthur meeting for the first time is always a favorite of mine in modern fics and it did not disappoint. The sexual tension is excruciating as the series goes on and it is one of the slowest relationship buildups ever in the history of ever, which also really tickles my fancy. If you’re looking for a quick Merthur hookup, this is not the story series for you. BUT— if you want something epic, this is it. Look no further. IT IS HERE.

The characters are very three-dimensional. Not just Merlin and Arthur, but you get a look at characters like Will, Freya, Hunith, Gwaine, Kay (who’s my favorite of the team), Bohrs, Mordred, Aredian— just… I cannot rave enough about this series and how footloose brings all these characters so vividly to life. All of them. The whole plot is about the fight against magic— which inevitably everyone has to learn isn’t really a fight against magic but a fight against power because once they learn of Merlin’s magic— it’s not about the magic itself but how it’s used.

It’s full of so many twists and turns. I promise, despite it’s length, it doesn’t drag. There is a point to everything. So much adventure, conspiracy, undercover things, MAGIC, hidden plots, and everything eventually connects and comes together. Every installment has that huge building climax towards the end that makes you want to cancel all your plans for the day and just sit at home and get through it. Just. Yeah. 10/10 recommend. If you’re alright with buckling in for a long series, you should definitely give it a go.

I wrote a lot for that— but to be fair, that’s like, a review for 13 books I’ve read, okay? XD

probalicious17  asked:

What are your favorite web series? I just started finished Poe Party and I need more!!!!!!

Ooooh my dear you have opened a Pandora’s box of webseries fangirling.

So because Poe Party’s cinematically shot, I’ll start with a few of those:

(Mostly) Cinematic Webseries

Firstly if you haven’t seen it, Shipwrecked’s previous series “Kissing in the Rain” is very sweet, just about 2 sets of actors who always end up playing romantic leads (usually in literary adaptations) and how different their relationships off-camera are. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLs2T_dNZ-XW7q7eqkRL1VXBiyaC_5VXRW . Although it’s lots of mini-adaptations of pieces of writing she likes rather than a running narative, I also really like Yulin Kuang (1/3 of Shipwrecked)’s series “I Didn’t Write This”, it’s so pretty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4FblEn7b1Y&list=PL9KxVMEYAaYJzVKZ8QWvhoT7_GZuxhBiF

Wavejacked

is about a misfit group of American College kids who basically start their own pirate radio channel and it’s adorable and funny:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBSxubd6xefLAW4FZc7QSf-H-qsPhSgd8

(And also this creative/production group generally have the BEST bts videos, almost as fun to watch as the actual series.). By the same team there’s

Pantheon University ,

which is a series of interlocking stories all based on modernisations of different myths about gods in the Greek Pantheon. And every episode is also really stylistically different which is cool, there’s even a musical episode :)

Bright Summer Night isn’t my favourite series by The Candle Wasters but it has moments of pure genius, it’s a modernisation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream set at a New Zealand house party. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ4M4eic7acRxRp2L-0Lrcvd_c1PpP1Fp

The Vault is more of a thriller-type series with lots of cool twists where you’re constantly trying to work out what’s going on. It’s based around the idea of a reality show where college students are all trapped in a vault of rooms trying to solve this huge puzzle together but then things start going wrong and no one’s sure whether it’s part of the game. I personally wasn’t thrilled with the ending but it’s still a great ride. Trigger Warning for scenes suggesting suicide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ8XGe1s42E&list=PLMEYHN507zgBMaQTIH94ozX2A-iPnbQTs

Couple-ish is a comedy-drama where Dee is a non binary person whose sister convinces them to pretend to be in a relationship with her crush Rachel to stop her getting deported but Dee’s also just got a new boyfriend and it all snowballs. There’s some vlog-style videos too because that’s the main way Rachel and Dee stage their fake dating to the world. It’s pretty excellent. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL2lDb-eVLsjzpJmj4iyZrqqjH742WPiu

Titus and Dronicus is really short but it’s about a duo of incompetent detectives trying to solve the case of Hamlet and it’s hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2bbOlgYtd8&list=PLOIz0BhLGYKeu0Ei-PGWX1n2GDT279AA7

All’s Fair Play basically about an engagement party that goes horribly wrong and also every character is based on a Shakespeare character. Definitely gets better as it goes but it’s not that long really anyway. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkX3sToIqxAnlnMvCANQhULDDpKW53PHz

Webseries about Famous Writers

The Writing Majors is vlog-style and also one of my all time favourite series. It’s basically about if Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde and Emily Dickenson were all modern day college students who shared a flat and it’s really sincere and lovely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-n2dbesZlM&list=PLEmQieiFpEckcSVLbbZaKeDW6Q39kn6zQ

Words with Wilde is another vlog-style series, this time about the life of Australian teenage Oscar Wilde (Isn’t he popular)  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0HZHmfA8es-4TTDrNSm28NBx_VPyYvrQ

Blank Verse I haven’t personally seen this one but I know it’s about modern versions of renaissance writers https://www.youtube.com/user/BlankVerseTV

A few more of my all-time favourites

The Autobiography of Jane Eyre is a vlog-style modernisation of Jane Eyre, revolutionised vlog-style series and beliefs about the budget and resources you needed to make one when it came out and just really beautifully told, probably my favourite ever webseries. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3NxAiyc-89HP3wHV2y5mbwi2TidvocKZ

Nothing Much to Do is based on Much Ado about Nothing, its sequel Lovely Little Losers is based off Love Labours Lost, both made by a group of young women in New Zealand about a group of late school/early university kids in Nnew Zealand, both vlog-style and warm and inventive and excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iakDRoQg-sM&list=PLgtRIWtmHefNSmhLGzm87bM6AKzWvD-ls They are why Jane Eyre is only “probably” my favourite ever webseries.

From Mansfield with Love is a modernisation of Mansfield Park and their take on “Frankie” Price especially is truly amazing. It’s also one of the relatively few british literary vlogseries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njBFxjzu7_E&list=PLmsm7oFLjXNecAKxAdpf8YQ4ezL3H7lEA . (It is also super long.) Don’t want to be too overdramatic but these 3 lots of series in combination at least helped get me through a lot of bad times, at most possibly saved my life, so they’re pretty special and brilliant.

The Misselthwaite Archives is one I helped to develop and write a bit, it’s gorgeously shot and snarky and sad and hopeful and concise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBrAchWhB2Q&list=PLTR39SK4S7yz8gfxz7pEevZe5jEkgHiyn part vlog style, part cinematic, path other styles.

Currently Airing

If you want something new to follow along with…

The Better Strangers is technically a sequel series but watching the first one isn’t mandatory and I think the crew really hit their stride with this one. Vlog-style loose modernisation of As You Like It, very funny. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP1jFbh_ZqnJQG_SWQBv7X6j0Bim6TLff

The Adventures of Serena Berg is a modernisation of Cyrano de Bergerac. Again, snarky and sad and great fun. Also the first literary webseries I’ve seen with a trans woman protag which is cool https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdOSFhd5rRPXXvbC8oeDaeOvZxCpj-FN8

The Cate Morland Chronicles cute modernisation of Northanger Abbey where Cate is like a fandom journalist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqOG9unl8i4qE-ECzoWlJX11BVggB3hhj (There’s also a previous vlog-style adaptation of Northanger Abbey which I probably prefer, Northbound  but I just love that there’s 2 to pick fro. )

Project Green Gables A vlog-style modernisation of Anne of Green Gables that constantly makes excellent adaptation choices (For example Anne’s black and buys dodgy hair relaxer instead of green hair dye.) very charming, currently airing it’s second season https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN_BtyNHNPJ3nUGTr6V505g . Again, there’s a previous, more sticking-to-the-source-text adaptation called Green Gables Fables that finished a few months back and is adorable.

I haven’t managed to catch The Uncanny Upshurs yet but that started a few days ago, promises to have magic and drama and has a great team behind it https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ8EO_YxrP-zx0Sdj5NjE6Q

Mina Murray’s Journal finished like last week? It’s quite a clever Dracula modernisation with great production value. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ10oDkIZU4

There’s also the series I created (With a lot of collaboration and help with amazing people) Away from it All, which is a vlog-styleish modernisation of Far from the Madding Crowd and we’re releasing our 6th episode this Thursday :)  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS3qBQLYbPsggdVg8u2FURrZE38TOEutt

This got shorter as it went because I really should have gone to bed an hour ago xD anyway, hope that helps!! Wishing you good fortune on your webseries journey  x

Avengers Recs: Stony and others

Helloo, I am back! School kicked my ass this semester, but I am done now and taking a break (then, job hunting! GAH. I need to take my mind off of real life, so I have been catching up on Avengers fandom since I saw AOU. I also have a bunch of cherik in my queue to read *_* Here are a few fics that I have read and liked from the Avengers fandom!)

MCU

WinterHawk

I’ll Keep You Safe Here With Me. - sara_holmes (R |Post-CATWS |Winterhawk |Hurt/Comfort |Protective!Bucky |Pining |Action |PTSD)
Yes, Clint is avoiding the other Avengers. No, he does not want to go back to New York. But then again, he didn’t exactly want to be kidnapped  by the Winter Soldier either. Really, he just wants to go back to bed. Bea’s comment:  This is the fic that got me into Bucky/Clint. It is epic (100K+ of awesomeness! Bucky kidnaps Clint in order to find out more about Steve but then Hydra shows up, there are deep, emotional issues (they are both so fucked up) but then they become friends and gah, it’s so so so good. I couldn’t stop reading it! I love how sara writes Clint! And Bucky! So so good.

Clint Barton’s Super Secret Snipers’ Club - sara_holmes (PG-13 |WIP |Bucky/Clint |PTSD |Hurt/Comfort |Friendship |Side pairing: Tony/Steve)
Clint Barton’s Super Secret Snipers’ Club. (Invitation and pending   mental health evaluation required.) “When Steve brings Bucky back to the  tower for the first time, Clint’s first thought is that Tony Stark’s   pride and joy is quickly becoming a less of a very tall and expensive   ‘fuck you’ in the faces of investors who don’t believe in   self-sustaining energy, and more of a superhero rehabilitation center.” Bea’s comment: This is WIP but so far, I am in love! Clint and Bucky’s friendship is awesome, and they both have issues which makes it easier for them to bond and become friends. Side pairing is Steve/Tony! <3

Steve/Tony

❤❤❤For the Wheel’s Still in Spin - Arukou  (NC-17 |Pre-Avengers |Iron Man 3| Post-CATWS |Slow-build |Missing scenes |Hurt!Steve |Steve-centric |Team Bonding |Friendship |Bottom!Steve)
Steve Rogers is a man of action, but in this brave new century, there’s no action to be had. A man without a mission, all he has to linger on are the people he let down and the lives he failed to save, and he is so very alone. Nights eat at him and days pass in a blur, and Tony Stark is the only person who seems to notice just how badly the Captain is suffering. Bea’s comment: This is my favorite Steve!centric fic. Starts with Steve waking up in the future (well, present) and how he copes. There’s also really great team bonding/friendship and Bucky! Pining! Great characterization and amazing writing, highly recommended!

Stay With Me (home is where your mind is.) - sara_holmes  (R |Hurt!Steve |Civil War |Crossover: Comic-verse |Pining!Tony   |Hurt/Comfort |Protective!Tony |HAWKEYE is a good bro |Multi-verse)
Where Steve doesn’t quite die, ends up stranded in the multiverse and   would quite like to know how the hell so many versions of himself ended up sleeping with Tony Stark. Well, that’s going to make things a tad   awkward when he gets home. Bea’s comment: This is a really great fic with both steve and tony’s point of views. Steve gets hurt and ends up in a comma and almost dies. Tony is guilty and pining. Clint is a good bro. Pining and realizations and different steves from different dimensions who have died in their own universe are stuck together in limbo. Kid!Steve is adorable. Protective!Avengers! Hurt!Steve! <3

Catch Me Through the Looking-Glass - Ylixia (NC-17 |Crossover: MCU+Marvel 616 |Established Relationship (Stony MCU) |Angry!Steve |Protective!Steve)
It’s like a recurring nightmare: Steve Rogers, trapped in a world that  is not his own, new love left behind, and nothing to keep him going but  questions. Bea’s comment: MCU!Steve and Tony are together. MCU!Steve gets stuck in 616 verse where everything is fucked up and Steve and Tony are enemies because OF LACK OF COMMUNICATION YO. Also, awesome MCU!Steve and 616!Steve confrontation.

The Better Part of What I Never Had - lyra_wing (R |Post-AOU |Protective!Tony |Angst |Pining |Friendship |Happy Ending)
Tony worries from afar – or, it sometimes takes a hex or two to help   folks figure out what they really want. This is an immediate sequel to   the events in Age of Ultron, so there are spoilers for the whole movie   in here, obviously. You have been forewarned. Bea’s comment: This is the fic I wanted to read immediately post-AOU. <3

Love among the Hydrothermal Vents - DevilDoll  (NC-17 |MCU |Canon Divergent |Comic crossover |Pretend Relationship |Pining!Steve |Humor |Misunderstandings)
In which Namor has a thing for Steve, an octopus has a thing for Tony,  and Steve and Tony eventually have a thing for each other. Bea’s comment: Really funny and there’s also pining and misunderstandings. Namor wooing Steve and Steve being adorable, exasperated and freaking out. I loved everyone’s characterization.

A Fire to be Kindled - keptein (PG-13 |Hurt!Steve |Hurt/Comfort |Miss-understandings)
It makes perfect sense, of course. The serum gave Steve the perfect body, so why wouldn’t it also give him the perfect mind? In the quietness of his own mind, Tony can admit he’s a little stung Steve didn’t tell him, but he’s not really surprised. (Or: the one where Steve is smarter than Tony, and neither of them deal well.) Bea’s comment: Where Steve is a genius, but it causes problems. hurt/comfort <3

Bond Has It Covered - sara_holmes (NC-17 |Post-Avengers |Clint is a good bro |Pining |Team Bonding |Slow build)
Tony thought they had trouble getting along when they were dealing with  a major global crisis. Apparently that had nothing on how they fell  apart when they weren’t distracted by smashing aliens. Bea’s comment: Really awesome. Once again, love everyone’s characterization and Clint is a good bro :D Every fic of Sara’s has an awesome Clint :D

Like Coming Home - missbecky (R |Crossover: Marvel 616+MCU |MCU!Steve/616!Tony |Angst |Happy Ending)
After a tragic accident, Steve is given a chance to go back in time and deliver a warning to Tony in the hope of avoiding their fate. Something’s gone wrong, though, because this is not his world he’s ended up in. And that is definitely not his Tony who’s planning to delete his own brain. Sometimes your second chance isn’t at all what you were expecting. Bea’s comment: MCU!Steve travels to the past to warn Tony about something but instead gets stuck in 616 where Tony has killed Steve in Civil War. I kind of cried a little when it ended but because of happiness. Happy ending!

anonymous asked:

I'm a bellarker and I actually liked clexa! It wasn't my otp, but I found it really cute. I don't want to offend your ship or make you angry in any ways with this ask, I'm just curious about your opinion: So, I follow your blog and I saw an ask saying that Bellarke becoming romantic would be not logic. Clexa became canon after the Mt Weather incident and Finn's death. Do you think that's more logical? Why did you start shipping them back then? What "convinced" you? Im just trying to understand..

Hi! You didn’t make me angry at all, don’t worry. I’m just wondering if you maybe can send me a link to this ask you’re talking about, so I have a better idea what you’re referring to?

Alright so, how do I start? Well, first of all, Clexa is the first couple I “actively shipped”, as in, I joined a fandom for the first time. And even that wasn’t really done on purpose. I joined tumblr just because I needed to scream into the void about Clexa and Lexa specifically, because no one I knew was watching the show. How did I start shipping Clexa? Honestly, it just… happened. I’m not someone who watches a show and seeks out a couple to ship, I never did that. I watch a show and enjoy certain characters and certain relationships, and sometimes they happen to be romantic relationships. For example, I LOVE Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It’s my favorite show of all time and will always be. And in that show, I fell in love with the Buffy/Angel relationship, and the romantic aspect of it. I guess now I would call myself a Buffy/Angel shipper, but I don’t really have the shipper mentality in me? Does it make sense?

Anyway, the point is I fell in love with the characters, the chemistry they had, I found their interactions captivating, I was constantly intrigued, pulled to them, the way they clicked together, I saw something that I didn’t see in other relationships etc. etc. I know this sounds like the most generic answer possible, but it’s simply the way I felt. And it’s what happened with Clexa. Except that where in BtVS it was pretty clear that Buffy and Angel were meant to have a romantic storyline too (there’s hardly any will they/won’t they), in absolutely no way I was planning to ship Clexa. Until the second part of season 2 I wasn’t really invested in any romantic relationship.

Take Bellarke. [Obviously, this is just my opinion and personal experience, it doesn’t and shouldn’t take anything away from your enjoyment of that relationship.] One thing not many know is that when the show aired and I watched the Pilot, I immediately dropped it because I hated it. I still do, I find that pilot just awful. I think by the end of it I wanted everyone to die (maybe not Wells but that’s it). I gave the show a second chance because one year later, I randomly ran into one of those “Top shows you’re not watching” lists and The 100 was there too. So I did some googling and while doing that, I also noticed that Bellarke seemed to be the main pairing fans were talking about. So I started the show again and fell in love with it and I grew to really adore Clarke and Bellamy’s relationship. But… I never saw it as romantic. I even tried to make myself like it that way, but they just never clicked for me under that aspect. This isn’t to say they don’t have chemistry. I would have to be blind or to simply lie to say the chemistry isn’t there. But I never felt it as romantic or sexual. Like… I even tried to read fanfics of them to see if maybe I was missing something. But especially after that experience, of reading romantic/sexual interactions between Clarke and Bellamy and finding them “off”, I realized they weren’t clicking for me at all in that sense.

Which brings me to Clexa. When Lexa first appeared in 2x06 I was immediately drawn to that character, I was mesmerized by her introduction. Then I saw her first interaction with Clarke, and I literally couldn’t take my eyes away from them. Every scene they had together was magnetic. When Lexa revealed her past with Costia in 2x09, she jumped into my list of favorite characters in the show. Not because it was revealed she is a lesbian (which was amazing for other reasons), but because of the implications of her story. I love complex female characters. Before that episode I was already intrigued by Lexa, she was smart, confident, strong, but that episode showed for the first time that she was fragile too. That her coldness vastly came from having suffered through unbearable pain, it was basically a defense mechanisms. This added so many layers to her, and I knew I had found a potential favorite. And as the show progressed I kept seeing more and more of that complexity: she is ruthless but doesn’t take joy in violence, she says she learned how to not feel anything but you can see that she feels so damn much, she wants peace but is willing to make harsh choices. It’s because she is so layered that she became my favorite. And then the show started developing her relationship with Clarke. Two strong, complex female leaders from two very different worlds with very different POVs on life who have to learn to work together and who slowly realize they have more in common than they thought. Both greatly wounded by their pasts but unable to stop feeling and loving. Learning from each other, respecting each other. Suffice to say, their interactions became the thing I was looking forward to the most each week. But I wasn’t really shipping them. If I have to pick a specific moment though, their scene together at the end of 2x10, seeing the way they were looking at each other, made me start thinking about how amazing a romance between these two could be. Their chemistry was just sizzling. But I thought it would never happen, because I thought Clarke was straight and that they would never put their lead character in a WLW relationship. I don’t need to say how ridiculously happy I was when they kissed and it was revealed that Clarke is bisexual. And how devastated I was about how they handled Lexa’s death.

Let’s talk about the “logic” aspect you were mentioning. I see Finn’s death as a “problem” only if we talk about Clarke, and by that I mean that she loved him and he died. The whole “Lexa forced Clarke to kill him” argument is just nonsense to me, and this post is long enough without me tackling that. So… I was actually glad that Clarke told Lexa she wasn’t ready to be with anyone in 2x14. It was too soon, and her reaction felt realistic. Her attraction towards Lexa was clearly there but it wasn’t the right time, she wasn’t ready to pursue a new relationship. Amazing. About Mt. Weather… look, I am an angst slut. I love intelligent angst, I love good conflicts and the journey to overcome them. So I was euphoric thinking about Clarke and Lexa’s journey in s3 to repair their relationship. And I’m not going to lie and say I was entirely pleased. I would have loved to see a slow reconciliation, I would have loved for the writers to have taken their time. But I get it wasn’t possible because they only had 7 episodes (I’m not going to talk about what they could have done differently because I would get pissed and this post would never end lol). They had Lexa make that monumental gesture of swearing fealty to Clarke and then they had Lexa’s journey in season 3 to be entirely about regaining Clarke’s trust and working towards peace, for all people. So, despite me craving for a slower build up to their love scene, I find that their reconciliation made sense.

I don’t know what ask you’re talking about, so I’d have to read it to have a clear idea, but I’ll try to answer anyway. I told you how I feel about Bellarke. It’s a personal opinion. I don’t see any romance or sexual chemistry there, but I do love their friendship and partnership. I’ve often said that it’s one of the core relationship of this show. I think that it’s rare to see on television a realistic, complex, well developed friendship between an attractive male and a female that also happen to be the leads of a show. It’s way rarer than any romantic pairing of that kind, and it’s one of the things I love about them. When I say that I see them as platonic, I don’t mean it as an insult. I firmly believe that platonic relationships are just as important as romantic, and one as rare as Bellamy and Clarke’s in particular. I think that a romantic storyline would take away what is special about that relationship. But apart from that, talking about “logic”. By sticking to canon, one of the reasons Bellamy did what he did in season 3 was his pain and guilt about losing Gina. Yes, the writers treated that character as nothing more than a tool to “fridge” to give Bellamy an additional justification to side with Pike, but it’s clear that their bond was real. Clarke… Clarke had to kill Finn, and lost Lexa right after their happiest moment, and had to abruptly say goodbye to her again in the CoL, right after telling her she loved her. These characters are scarred. They are in pain, they have PTSD, they are grieving. That’s why I think a new relationship (not necessarily just between Clarke and Bellamy but in general) so soon would be illogical. They need time to process the traumas they went through, their losses. They need to properly deal with them before even thinking about romantically moving on. I’m going to mention BtVS again. After her relationship with Angel ends, Buffy gets together with Riley. And you can’t say that there’s anything wrong there. He loves her, he’s a nice guy, he wants to do what’s right. But we never feel the spark that was there with Angel. And it’s done on purpose. Because Buffy truly tries to make herself feel for Riley the same things he felt for Angel, but it’s not possible.

Now, that’s not to say that Clarke should grieve forever. I’m absolutely not opposed to the concept of moving on and learning to love again. Hell, one of Lexa’s main aspects is exactly this. But I think it would be absolutely wrong to do it so quickly, and especially with one of the most interesting and rare relationships we have. And of course this doesn’t mean that I need a season of Clarke doing nothing but grieving. The pace of this show is insane, and they have HUGE problems to think about. But really, would it be a crime to have these characters be single for a season? To give them time to grow individually? To have them properly face their unresolved feelings and grief during a quiet moment? I don’t think so.

So well… this is my long long answer. It’s probably confusing as hell, but I hope this helped lol, and sorry I couldn’t keep it shorter. If you have other questions or curiosity please don’t hesitate to ask :)

Hey, I've been in the Leverage fandom for a while now, but I can't seem to see why people ship Parker/Hardison/Eliot and was wondering if you could help me?

Heyy!! I’m so sorry this took forever to post. I actually had an entire response written up and it was really long and fabulous, and then tumblr deleted the whole thing.

Long story short, I was on the Eliot/Hardison bandwagon from the start. I mean, Hardison looks at Eliot like he wants to eat him with a spoon during that scene in the pilot where Eliot beats up the security dudes. (“That’s what I do.”) and it’s pretty clear all Eliot’s growly-ness is hiding a lot of love. THEY SING A DUET TOGETHER IN LUCILLE. Hardison gets away with so much shit and all Eliot does is raise an eyebrow and growl because YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE SPENCER, YOU LIKE IT.

Then Leverage sold me on Parker/Hardison, easy. They are so cute and adorable and cuddly and I love every second of their relationship. Hardison knows what Parker wants before Parker is even close to ready to admit it and he waits. Because as much as he wants it, he only wants it if she knows it’s what she wants. And watching Parker deal with her feelings is amazing. I love her, I love him, I love them.

And the Eliot/Parker dynamic is gold. Eliot offering to kill for her in the future job, when the series makes it clear down the line that Eliot hates himself for who he used to be (his “You pull the trigger and two men die” speech to Nate is one of my favorite things). Their whole “it makes us us” conversation on the mountain. The way Eliot puts himself into her hands in the Big Bang Job- he doesn’t want to talk about his past but he would if Parker asked (it would shatter him but he would do that to himself for her); I could go on…

Not to mention my favorite bit of denial: Eliot protesting way too loudly that he doesn’t think about Hardison and Parker “like that.” (for the record, I actually made little air quotes with my fingers after I typed that)

And then season 5 happened.

I mean, Eliot flat out told Sophie his happily ever after is being with Hardison and Parker and tending to the brew pub. Parker coming to Eliot to learn about how to like things, and Eliot brushing her off right up until he actually looks at her and then he drops everything for her. THE RUNDOWN JOB had wedding vows and neck touching, and Parker/Hardison kissing while also being involved in an intense Eliot stare-off.

If you look up “heart eyes” in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Eliot Spencer gazing lovingly at Parker and Hardison while proclaiming “I don’t have to search anymore”. The second picture would be Hardison and Parker staring back at him like all their Christmases have arrived at once.

I mean, it’s so clear that they all love each other. Whether you interpret that as deep friendship or ship ship, it doesn’t really matter in the end. But that’s why I ship it.

Q: How did the whole Lexa situation affect not maybe the shooting (as I believe it was already shot), but the engagement with fans on social media, for example, of WYNONNA EARP?

And second, how do you experience the showrunners world being a female creator and writer and any advice for - ehem, fellow, hopefully - future writers who want to bring more diversity and good writing to Television?

EA:  The Lexa situation didn’t affect the creative of WE as it WAS already shot, but it made me feel happy about certain storytelling choices we’d made. I was aware of the BYG trope, but I was impressed at how passionately that fanbase pushed it into the mainstream media and have started to demand better representation.

If you are a ‘future’ writer (hell, if you write, you can just say 'writer’ now) who wants to bring more diversity to television, you should surround yourself with diverse writers and mentors. Then if and when you’re lucky enough to be in a position of power to make change, i.e. as a showrunner, you should put your money where your mouth is and hire diversely.

Q: Did you personally choose Melanie Scofrano to be your lead lady? How was the process to find “the” Wynonna? btw she is doing a great job

EA: I did personally choose her, along with my producers, and it might be the smartest decision I ever made. She is doing an amazing job because she is a once-in-a-lifetime performer. We saw over 300 young actresses across the coast, but in the end, there was only Scrofano. And all was right in Purgatory. :)

Q: In your experience writing/producing tv as a raging feminist, what have been some elements (trope-smashing, specific plots, themes, stylistic choices etc.) for which you’ve really had to fight to be included in the final product? Have you faced any backlash or resistance as a result?

EA: I have always had to fight for the LGBT stuff. Always. Initially nobody wants the pretty girl to be a lesbian. Even if she’s been like that since I started developing her (and I usually have). Nobody thinks there’s an audience. Nobody thinks it’s a real thing. Then it is. And the audience comes because they get it. And I feel triumphant. And happy. I think also 'female’ driven storytelling is still somehow seen as less 'legitimate’ or 'prestigious’ than shows that feature a male anti-hero…in the same way almost any novel written by a female author is decreed 'chitlit’ regardless of content. So I feel like my work is often dismissed as pap regardless of critical adoration or audience success. But here I am, still making TV that I’d watch. And that smells like victory. :) That’s my raging feminist answer and I’m sticking to it.

Q: Was there originally more to the WayHaught barn scene? It seems like it begins in the middle of an interaction.

EA: Could be. DVD EXTRAS, Y'ALL

Q: What is your fav quality about Wynonna? What quality of wynonna do you personally relate to?

EA:  My fave quality about Wynonna is that even though she is such a hot mess with such a dark past and has every reason to give up and give in to simply being 'bad’, she never does. She fights and tries and cares, despite her many mistakes and flaws.  I relate to her torrid love affair with donuts. But she’s much braver than I. :)

I LOVE me some Bernie Wolfe and because I have time and I’m feeling particularly gay this evening, I thought I’d list the many ways in which Jemma has completely blown me away with her portrayal of the tough macho army medic, with a heart of gold and the most simpering brown eyes the wards have ever seen <3 Her masterful handle on her character is by no means underappreciated- just look at her fan base- but I wanted to write some things down that have particularly resonated and impressed me…..

Captain Swan fanfiction recommendation by thepiratetomyprincess

So I’ve decided based on how much fanfiction I read that I will be posting a fanfiction every second saturday that I adore so that you can all enjoy it as much as I do. There is so much talent in this fandom and I want it to be shown off.

Remember it makes every writers day to hear positive feedback so please let someone know if you enjoyed their work. I know there has been a lot of negative reviews and hate around the fandom lately and that makes me so upset. So make sure if you love something, let the writer know! :)

Title: A Million Shores and Bays

Author: @piratesails

Summary:  It isn’t exactly her fault she’s come to trust a man she’s never met over, well, any other man she’s actually met. It’s what makes all of it safer, easier even, knowing that there’s no way she can actually fuck it all up by running away when she’s already away to begin with. Pen Pals AU

Status: Complete

Word Count: 22k+

Why I loved it: This was absolutely amazing! My favourite thing would probably be the portrayal of their chemistry. The characters aren’t even in the same country, yet you can feel them falling in love and it’s beyond gorgeous. I even teared up a bit at the end because there was such a buildup and it was so well resolved and I was also so sad that it was finished hahaha. I could go on and on about this but I should probably stop, overall it was sensational and I would love to read more from this story universe.

Favourite scene/quote:

Killian’s answering laugh is rough with sleep and she thinks it’s a sound she’ll never get tired of hearing.

My favourite scene would have to be when she surprises him and how he reacts and pulls her into this tight hug and I can picture it in my mind so clearly!!

Dear Ms. I. Marlene King...

June 22nd, 2015

Dear Ms. I. Marlene King,

My name is Richard and I’m writing to you today for several reasons. It’s taken me some time to work up the courage to actually write this and send it but I think it’s time. The issue I’d like to address is the Emison relationship within “Pretty Little Liars.” I understand that you must get hundreds of thousands of e-mails, tweets, Facebook posts, etcetera begging you to put Emily Fields and Alison DiLaurentis together in the show but I am not going to bed. I’m going to address things in a calm rational way and try to explain my reasoning and logic behind shipping Emison. I think that I can bring a unique perspective that might help you legitimize bringing these two characters together finally. However before I do that I would like to address another issue quickly.

I understand that since the beginning of season six, and sadly going back earlier than that, the writing staff as well as yourself have received a number of disturbing, angry, and even threatening messages, and tweets regarding the Emison relationship. Please understand that these few immature fans do not represent the fandom as a whole. We, the Emison Shippers, are in this for more than our ship.  Most of us have watched dutifully for six seasons enjoyed every twist, turn, plot wrinkle and seemingly impossible situation that this emotional roller coaster has thrown at us. It is a brilliant show and the entire staff should be very proud of it. You have all made something quite amazing. I hope that the actions of these few children, will not affect the outcome of the show, nor will it negatively affect the outcome of a potential Emison relationship.  Please understand that the actions of these few is not the reflection of the entire fandom. While we may be angry at times, we do not want to hurt the show, or attack either yourself or the writers. We trust you and believe strongly in our endgame, but leave it entirely in your capable hands.

With that being said I’d like to turn to the main part of my argument, which will answer the question, “Why should Emison be a real relationship? By what merits does it deserve to be considered an “Endgame couple?” This is what I will hope to answer in the following pages. I ask your indulgence if I seem to get a little over zealous on the issue. It is very near and dear to my heart.

The simple answer to this question is, “Because they are soul mates.” But that leaves a lot to interpretation. Each person has his or her own definition of what a soul mate is. I will try and illustrate mine for the purposes of this argument.

A soul mate is someone who you can not live without. When you meet your soul mate everything falls into place. All the stress and anxiety that most people live with from day to day just disappears. There is an instant connection, one that no language on Earth has words to describe. Your soul mate makes you happy no matter what your situation. You realize in that moment that you don’t need anyone else but your soul mate to be happy, or to feel complete. I will give you an example:

Compare two people, a poor man, dying of cancer (or any other disease) who lives on the street in a box with no shelter and rarely any food. All he has are the clothes on his back and his soul mate beside him every day, and every night, comforting him, supporting him, and reminding him that he is loved.

Now take another man, rich beyond belief, CEO of a fortune 500 company, multi-billionaire married to a wonderful trophy wife with two children. He has money, a car, the job of his dreams, but the woman (or man) he’s married to is not his soul mate. Now I ask you this: Which man is happier?

It would be easy to say that the man with all the money, the happy marriage to a trophy wife, with children and everything a person could want, but is that the real answer? I say no it’s not. The poor man who has nothing but his soul mate by his side is the happier man. He knows that no matter what, no matter how bad, or how good things get he will never be alone, he will never be unloved, he will never be incomplete. He has a devoted love that can not be broken because soul mates are meant for each other, they are two halves of the same soul searching for each other and when they meet it is like two puzzle pieces connecting perfectly and the beautiful picture finally takes shape.

It seems insignificant, but it’s the only way I can think to even try to illustrate the beauty of finding your soul mate.

Now let’s take this definition and plug it into “Pretty Little Liars” and show how it fits, particularly with Alison and Emily. If we go all the way back to the beginning we know that Alison has not always been the nicest person to much of anyone, often manipulating people to her own will and to get what she wanted. She was very much the Queen Bee. She was very spoiled, and she was very cruel to many people. Emily was no exception to this. Alison played on Emily’s emotions all the way up to the time she disappeared (died). Many people would say that Alison’s manipulation of Emily’s emotions continued even after she returned to Rosewood and that the events in Season 5, Episode 05 “Miss Me x100” were nothing more than Alison manipulating Emily, but I refuse to believe that entirely. However I’m getting ahead of myself.

Let’s start at the very beginning. The pilot episode, when Emily finds out that Alison is alive; look at how happy she was and then how devastated she was when she found out that Alison wasn’t alive. And yet if you go forward to Season 1 Episode 2 “The Jenna Thing” Emily continues to love Alison. The flashback of the bracelet, the look on Emily’s face when Alison asks her to tie hers on is nothing but pure adoration. And what speaks more to the devotion is that after all these years, and even after learning that Alison was dead, Emily kept wearing it. She was the only one of the four girls that never stopped wearing that bracelet because it was the last real connection to Alison that she had.

Perhaps the first large piece of Emison that the show demonstrates is the kiss in the library in Season 1, Episode 9 “The Perfect Storm.” Emily misses Alison so much that she goes to Alison’s memorial that was erected only to find that it has been completely destroyed. She’s devastated and is so desperate to hold onto a piece of it that she keeps the little copper statue of Alison in her bag. More than that the scene in the library speaks volumes to the devotion that Emily still has for Alison even beyond the grave. The memories that she clings to so dearly because they are all she has left of her soul mate.

The entire flashback with the book and their first kiss. Even in that split second anyone can see that Alison closes her eyes and actually finds herself being drawn in. I think the half second look that she has immediately following the kiss before she smiles at Emily is her wondering what she had just felt rather than trying to figure out how to react to it. We all know that Alison was about appearances during the time, but there was much more of an internal monologue going on there. More importantly the dialogue in that scene is so telling. “That’s why I love you… you’re big on happy endings.” I don’t think Alison was completely lying in that, and I don’t think she’s saying it completely in a platonic way. I think Alison really does love Emily and the kiss that follows and the soft smile and the way her entire face relaxes when they are kissing reinforces that. The simple act is Alison is too young to really know what her feelings are. Even Emily doesn’t fully understand the implications of loving Alison.

The one quote that I have often come back to when looking at the Emison relationship is the following:

“I loved her against reason, against promise… against peace, against hope, against happiness… against all discouragement that could be.”

I believe that in a way everything we needed to know about the Emison relationship was said in that one flashback. I think that for the fans as well as Emily, this quote could not be more true. We, indeed have loved Emison against Reason, against the repeated promises of the staff, against peace, against hope, against our own happiness, and against all the discouragement that can be thrown at us from anyone. More importantly I’d like to dissect this and put it into context of Emily herself.

Emily has loved Alison against reason. She’s loved her even beyond the grave and not just the memory of her, she has loved Alison. She’s loved her even when the rest of her friends have wanted to turn her back on her. Even in Season 5 Episode 14 “Through a glass, Darkly” when the girls corner Alison and trap her so that Tanner can arrest her, out of all the girls who are standing there, the only one with any emotion on her face is Emily. She looks as though she is trying to hold up her tough demeanor but realizes that she has made a huge mistake.

Emily has loved Alison against promise. Look at her two other serious relationships within the show: Paige and Maya. Even as close as she and Maya were, Emily always loved Alison. There has always been a piece of her that has loved Alison. Honestly I believe that is why none of Emily’s relationships have lasted. I don’t believe Maya and Emily’s relationship would have survived Emily learning Alison was alive. As for Paige, the difference is clear in Emily’s reaction to Alison leaving compared to Paige leaving. When Alison returned home (Season 5 Episode 1 “Escape from New York”) she immediately tried to turn around and get back on the bus and leave again. Emily turned back and begged her not to leave again and Alison stayed, for Emily. When Paige got ready to leave (Season 5 Episode 14 “Through a glass, Darkly”) Emily’s comment was “I’ll drive you to the air port.” There was no desperation there, and even when she does go to the airport to say goodbye, she doesn’t beg Paige not to leave, she merely says that she doesn’t have to leave because –A has been arrested. Paige still leaves. There isn’t much commitment there and if they were really soul mates, Emily would have fought harder to make her stay and Paige would have been far more willing to stay.

Emily has loved her against peace. Emily has defended Alison to her friends time and time again. Her love for Alison has caused large rifts between her and her friends, but yet she refuses to back down. Even in the dollhouse after facing weeks of –A’s torture, Emily still defended Alison to her friends reminding them that none of them, not even Alison, is the same person that they once were. When Emily meets with Alison for the first time since learning that she’s alive (Season 4 Episode 16 “Close Encounters”) and Spencer follows her, Emily is completely destroyed that she has lost Alison again and the tension and anger between her and Spencer is undeniable in the remainder of that episode and the ones that follow. Emily’s love for Alison really does cause problems and disrupt the peace of the 4 main girls.

Emily has loved Alison against hope. Emily has loved her even when the odds were completely stacked against her. She has loved her even when there seemed no hope that Alison could be alive. Emily was the first one to say that she was. Even though Alison had visited Hanna in the hospital (Season 1 Episode 11 “Moments Later”) before she rescued Emily from the barn, Emily was the first one to say, out loud, that Alison was alive. (Season 2 Episode 12 “Over My Dead Body”) Emily never gives up hope that Alison is alive. Emily loves Alison even when they think she is –A (Season 5). When Alison’s verdict comes down she is on the verge of tears and her eyes never leave Alison’s. (Season 5 Episode 24 “I’m a Good Girl, I am.”) Even in the Dollhouse when after three weeks of emotional and mental torture, Emily should have been thinking of her own survival, she was thinking of how much she loved Alison and defending her to her friends. (Season 6 Episode 1 “Game on Charles.”)

Emily has loved Alison against happiness. That part certainly is true. There have been rare occasions when Emily’s eternal love for Alison has brought her any happiness and yet she continues. Why would someone love someone if that love did not bring him or her happiness? Because Alison is Emily’s soul mate and while there have been plenty of moments where Emily’s love for Alison hasn’t brought her happiness, nothing can replace the moments when that love has brought her happiness and a feeling of competition that can never be replaced by anyone or anything. And so her love perseveres through the hardships and against the unhappy times and is made stronger after each trial.

Emily has loved Alison against all discouragement that could be. Emily has had more discouragement for her love of Alison from a number of different people, including three of her closest friends, and even Alison herself. Take the locker room flashback in Season 1 Episode 9 “The Perfect Storm.” The moment when Emily kisses Alison on the neck and Alison declares that she likes boys. This was probably the most discouraging thing to Emily, to have her soul mate reject her in such a cold manner, but looking at it in hindsight, Alison was young, she was still in her Queen Bee mode and didn’t know what to make of it and might even have been afraid of the consequences of admitting her feelings. There is no excuse for Alison’s cold dismissal of Emily’s feelings, but it’s a prime example of Emily loving Alison against any and all discouragement.

           Emily has literally lived each and every part of that quote. She has lived through all of it and has survived with her love of Alison fully in tact. Who else would do that for someone unless that person is their soul mate? However let us not forget all the positive support that Emily has had along the way. Mrs. DiLaurentis’ comment in Season 4 Episode 10 “The Mirror has Three Faces”;

“You loved her as much as I did. I wish that Ali could’ve returned those feelings. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to love her than you.”

This beautiful quote reminds us that Emily is not alone in wanting a relationship with Alison, that other people recognized just how beautiful it was and how the two of them were obviously made for each other. Even CeCe Drake (who is considered by many fans to be on the –A Team or be Über –A himself) smiled when she told Spencer that Paige and Alison were bitter enemies and what they were fighting over was Emily (Season 3 Episode 11 “Single Fright Female”) Mrs. Fields, who originally was horrified at the idea of Emily being gay, comes around and tells Emily that she knew about Emily’s feelings for Alison before Alison’s disappearance and that she wanted to see how they were together. (Season 5 Episode 7 “The Silence of E. Lamb”)

Emily is not the only one who has ad to overcome obstacles and develop with this beautiful romance. Let’s take a look at Alison. From the beginning there has been something that has said that Alison’s dismissal of Emily’s feelings hasn’t been 100% genuine. In fact I think through most of this if one knows what to look for, the genuine love that Alison has for Emily is there. Again I return to the first real romantic flashback scene between them; the simple act of having Emily tie on her friendship bracelet (Season 1 Episode 2 “The Jenna Thing.” It seems so simple and yet it speaks volumes. She could have had anyone do it and yet she reached right across the table and had Emily do it. If one is looking close and understands the meaning of those bracelets Alison is asking Emily to mark her with something that will be with her forever.

Perhaps that is reaching though. A scene that is not reaching is Season 1 Episode 9 “The Perfect Storm” with the flashback in the library. What makes this scene so telling is the small things. The way that Alison looks at Emily, the way she combs her fingers through Emily’s hair, the way her blue eyes seem to beam at her as they talk about happy endings, and the story of Pip and Estelle. The enthusiasm with which she reads the quote. All of it right down to the way she smiles and the way her eyes slowly drift shut in their brief kiss speaks volumes about a connection that Alison probably doesn’t even realize is there because of how young she is, but it is there. The connection between soul mates doesn’t rely on age. If it’s there, it’s there and it is clear that it is there.

After Alison’s return her feelings for Emily seem to become clearer and more apparent. Alison is older now, she’s more mature, and she’s been through so much that has really shown her the importance of her friends and the importance of those she loves and those that love her. In the early parts of Season 5 it’s more obvious than the later parts.

Take Season 5 Episode 5 “Miss Me x100”, the episode is chuck full of Emison moments as I’m sure you’re aware. In fact this episode is one of the shining moments in the Emison relationship and one of the biggest things that the Emison ship clings to, however I would like to take a moment to break a few things down and perhaps explain what happened in Alison’s mind in terms of her behavioral change.

First off any regular follower of the show knows that Alison has been making some strides to change her life since her return. While she is still lying to the police about what really happened to her, Alison is making some effort to bridge the wide factions that she’d caused when she left. She even tries to make up with Paige, who promptly rejects her even though Emily (who Paige supposedly loves) is right there with her. After this comes one of the most touching scenes of the Emison storyline. Emily and Alison finally sit down and Alison tells her that she the kisses they shared before she disappeared weren’t just for practice. The gentility, and the genuine love and sadness in Alison’s eyes tell me that it wasn’t an act. And the way she deliver’s the most touching line of that exchange, “You were the hardest one to leave behind.” Makes me want to cry. It pulls on the heartstrings of every Emison shipper and honestly anyone who has ever had and then lost their soul mate. I do not understand how anyone can think that Alison was manipulating Emily in that scene. The look in her eyes, the tone of her voice, everything about it was genuine.

Still, later in the same episode Emily agrees to stay with Alison to make her feel protected after being followed by someone and then the violent confrontation with Mona in the church. If Alison had been smart she would have come clean about the confrontation right after it happened but she didn’t. More to the point Emily agrees to stay demonstrating her ever-lasting devotion to Alison and her safety. Alison’s “pit-bull” standing faithful guard once again. It is in this scene that Alison and Emily presumably sleep together. Why do that if Alison was just using Emily? Why not just pretend she was asleep? It was pretty obvious that Alison had her in her grips at that point. So what did she have to gain by sleeping with Emily, other than the simple fact that she was in love with her?

One would think it was over after the argument between Alison and Emily over Mona’s falsification of what happened in the Church the previous night, but instead when the news comes on about Bethany Young being the body buried in place of Alison, Alison and Emily hold hands, tightly. It isn’t even a conscious thing, Alison’s hand just slips into Emily’s and what’s more is that Emily takes it, enveloping Alison’s hand in hers. There is just so much love between them.

Now many skeptics have ripped holes in this episode saying that it was all an act and that Alison didn’t really love Emily she was just manipulating her again. I don’t believe that’s true for several reasons. First off, the little things, people don’t pick up on the little things and one wouldn’t expect them to if they haven’t found their soul mate in real life. They won’t know what to look for. I have, and because of that I notice everything. The body language, the way they look at each other, everything down to the tone of their voices tells me the true sincerity of their feelings. Alison wasn’t trying to manipulate Emily, she was trying for the first time in her life to connect with someone who loves her, who isn’t going to leave her, or shun her or abandon her. The one person who, through everything she has gone through, to the grave and back, has loved her unconditionally. The problem comes when everyone else expects her to fail, and sets her up to fail time and time again. I’m not saying that Alison is completely innocent in all of this, but she’d been set up to fail from the beginning, which is why I think all the conflict came in Season 5b, but even after her arrest and during her trial, the love was there. Of all the people Alison could have called from jail the night before her trial; she called Emily (Season 5, Episode 23 “The Melody Lingers On”). What’s more impressive is that Alison had Emily’s phone number memorized. Put yourself in Alison’s shoes for a moment; it’s the night before the trial of your life. The trial that will decide if you go to jail for the rest of your life for a crime you didn’t commit and who do you call? Your father? Your brother? CeCe? No… Alison calls Emily. The one voice she wanted to hear before walking into that courtroom. The one person she wanted to be sure would be there for her was her soul mate. Even when Emily walks in the courtroom with Hanna and Aria, Alison looks straight at Emily and Emily straight at her, and even in that scene and that exchange you can see the heartbreak in Emily’s eyes.

Once freed Alison dedicates herself to finding her friends, even if it means her capture. She puts herself in a vulnerable position for –A to capture her and hunts for Emily and the others. At the end of the episode (Season 6 Episode 1 “Game On Charles”) Alison, with the help of Caleb and Ezra, rescue the girls. Hanna immediately runs past Alison straight to Caleb, Aria runs straight to Ezra (and they aren’t even dating at this point), Spencer runs to Toby (once he arrives) and who does Alison look through the smoke to find? Who is she desperately trying to find? Emily! Who’s arms does Emily run straight into? Alison’s! No hesitation on either part. That’s the thing about true love, the thing about soul mates. Once they know the other, the souls will always, ALWAYS find each other and that’s what happened with Alison and Emily. Through the worst that –A has put them through Alison found Emily and brought her into her arms. I personally believe that, that particular scene in Season 6 Episode 1 “Game On Charles” shows all of the endgame couples. Ezria, Spoby, Haleb and Emison.

Finally in that episode when Emily goes over to thank Alison for saving them Alison takes her hand. It seems so simple but again, it’s the little things that speak the loudest in their relationship. The soft look that Alison has, the way her entire body seems to react to Emily. She didn’t have to touch her, but just like in Season 4 Episode 24 “A is for Answers”, Alison just needs physical contact with her. To remind her that Emily’s really there, that she’s alive and with her. It grounds Alison in reality, which is something that only her Soul Mate could do. As I said in the beginning of this letter, having your soul mate with you makes everything ok. It makes even the most miserable, frightening, awful situations seem a little bit more ok because that person is there, that person is never going to leave and their love is eternal. In this case Emily has just gone through the most horrific thing she’s ever had to endure since dealing with –A. Even the times when –A has nearly killed her haven’t been as bad as the emotional and mental torture that –A put her through in the Dollhouse. Alison could have lost Emily and so to make things a little easier and to remind her that she’s not dreaming that Emily is really there, she reaches for her, and smiles at her with eyes that convey nothing but absolute love.

So with all this, why does that warrant Emison being an “endgame” relationship? I would like to go back to the emotional implications of all this, particularly on Emily’s part. I’d like you to think for a moment about how much dedication it has taken on Emily’s part to survive this emotional roller coaster and survive it with her love of Alison still firmly in tact. The dedication and unconditional love it has taken her to love Alison to the grave and back.

With all this talk about soul mates and how important they are and how wonderful it feels to have them in your life, I feel like should take some time to try and illustrate what it feels like to have them taken from you. I know both of these feelings from personal experience. Just as having your soul mate is the most amazing, wonderfully fulfilling feeling in the world, loosing them is the most devastating. It feels like you have had your heart and soul ripped out. You feel empty, as though life is no longer worth living. You feel hollow and without a purpose. It feels as though your whole world has been robbed of color, of joy, of laughter, of anything because you are now missing that key ingredient that makes your life whole. It is constant pain and constant misery and constant longing. You never stop missing them, you are always longing for them. You search for their face in a crowded room even though you know there is no way they could be there. You are so desperate to fill that hole that has been ripped out of you. To loose your Soul Mate is to loose a part of yourself.

So let’s look at Emily, she had her soul mate. Even if they were just friends, she had Alison in her life and Alison made her happy, she made her feel complete. Alison was Emily’s whole world. Then one day she was gone. Emily had lost part of herself but Alison was just listed as “missing”. So there was hope that she could come back. But still the longing was there, the emptiness was there but perhaps the worst was when Emily found out she was dead. There was no hope that her soul mate would return to her, so she started to cling to things, anything that would make it seem that Alison was still there. She clung to it all to try and keep that feeling of completion but even that couldn’t fill the hole. Neither could Maya, and neither could Paige. No one could fill that hole but her soul mate.
By Season 4 when Emily learns that Alison is actually alive hope is reborn and Emily’s love is reinvigorated but when Spencer crashes the private meeting of Alison and Emily (Season 4 Episode 16 “Close Encounters”) she has to watch Alison disappear again and she doesn’t know if she’ll ever find her again. She had to loose her soul mate a second time. Honestly I don’t know if I could have survived that. Emily is so strong to have made it through all that. And then to continue on and survive the Dollhouse with her love for Alison completely in tact, Emily’s strength of character is unfathomable.

That brings to a close the main part of my argument. The cannon reasons that Emison deserves to be endgame. It is a beautiful relationship with perhaps more emotional depth than any of the others. If not more, than it certainly deserves to be on par with Haleb, Ezria and Spoby! It has had its ups and downs but then what relationship in this show hasn’t? It has survived the very worst that could be thrown at it. If that isn’t eternal love, I don’t know what is!

I would like to take a moment to mention the efforts and support of the Emison Fandom, the honorable ones, those of us who have been loyal, supportive and enthusiastic about not just our ship but also the show as a whole. I know that the staff of “Pretty Little Liars” as well as yourself are active on all the major social medias and are very attentive to what your fans are talking about so I feel that bringing in the efforts of the Emison Fandom on these social media sites is relevant to my overall argument.

There was once a time when every Tuesday night during the Pretty Little Liars Social Hour (7pm-8pm EST) when ABC Family was displaying the Tweets on the screen from the previous week, that the Emison fans would trend something to do with Emison at least once during that hour, many times it would be more than once. When I said “trend” I mean it would be listed on the top 10 hottest topics being talked about on Twitter worldwide, which is a huge accomplishment. I know that we have always been supportive of the actors and actresses (particularly Sasha Pieterse and Shay Mitchell), even if they are trying to destroy our hope of an Emison endgame.

In short what I would like to stress is that it’s a large fandom who are very passionate about not only their ship but the show as a whole. I know that you have recently commented saying that the show is about he journey not the ships and while we fully understand and respect that we are passionate about our ship just as the Spoby, Ezria and Haleb shippers are passionate about theirs. I think I understand where much of the anger and frustration of our fandom is coming from. While Ezria, Haleb and Spoby have been pretty steady since season one, with a few hiccups here and there, Emison hasn’t been given the chance to really flourish after five full seasons and into the start of season six. A lot of us are waiting with breathless anticipation for the time jump hoping that it will bring our two soul mates together.

In closing I’d like to thank you for your attention. I realize you must get thousands of letters and tweets and Facebook Messages and the like every day concerning everything from plot development to character wardrobe and it is no doubt tiring but I do hope that this letter has at least explained my reasons for why I ship Emison and why I believe that Emison should be the endgame relationship for Alison and Emily. I believe it has just as much depth and real emotion, if not more, than most of the other ships on the show.

Congratulations on creating an amazing show and six wonderful seasons. I hope that the show continues for many more and I am sure that the twists and turns will keep us on our feet week after week. Thank you so much for your attention.

[So I’ve been thinking about James Phelps recently wow Asher what else is new and idk I just thought I’d share?

When I first started getting involved with the Phelps fandom, I had trouble reconciling Fred with James and George with Oliver. I realised Oliver is way more outgoing and confident and James is a sweet shy little hedgehog playing the crueller twin, and I was like, ‘whoops, they got that casting wrong’. Since then I’ve totally reversed my decision on that point. For one thing, it doesn’t make sense to think that an actor can only play whatever part’s closest to his personality, but let’s ignore that for a second. Oliver, being pretty laidback, goes about George in a pretty laidback kind of way. He’s more comfortable with crowds and cameras and it translates on screen into George being looser and more relaxed. And I personally use this aspect of his performance as an explanation for George’s character: George wants everyone to be happy, no fuss, no bother, chill out, have some tea and all get along. That’s certainly not to say he’s not up for disturbing the peace in a drastic way once in a while, or making his in-group happy at someone else’s expense (say, the entirety of Slytherin house). But I think at heart he’s happiest when people are laughing with him, not when he’s just laughing at them.

Fred’s way more aggressive and high octane. So long as he’s entertained, he doesn’t much care if the peasants coughRONcough suffer. So yeah, when I first learnt to tell the Phelpses apart (which was before I ever saw the movies) I was like oh no tiny precious baby should not be Fred. But now I’m just totally in love with Fred being a little shorter and a little younger with this adorable round face whose resting expression is like·‘I’m a pumpkin pie protect me’

while inside he’s just this dEMON. And the moment this smol child opens his mouth this diabolical sassmonster comes out and you’re left like WHAT JUST HAPPENED.

{ Fig. 1: Evolution of a Sassmonster }

I’m also v glad Fred wasn’t played as a total hyena, as I was expecting him to be. James has addressed that, saying real people aren’t LOLOL HAPPY JOKES AND FUN all day every day, and so he and Oliver didn’t play Fred and George like that all the time. There’s also character development at play there. I mean, can you imagine the twins trotting into the Seven Harrys scene in DH like they trot into the Great Hall in GoF? Or Fred delivering “Have lots of experience with that, do you, Mad Eye?” in the same tone he delivers “Because it’s so pathetically dim-witted”? He turns into a businessman who’s 100% as snarky as before tbh, but in a more… I don’t want to say “mature” or “subdued” way, because neither of those words should ever be applied to Fred, but in a less loud and obnoxious way, we’ll say. Still, James is a more aggressive actor than his brother (handy direct comparison!), and with Fred there’s just this tension where you know this guy’s a class clown but he has these disconcertingly malicious tones and expressions and you don’t quite trust him not to cross some major lines. 0_o

Irrelevant to Fred and George from here on out so I’ma cut it, thus:

On Yuri!!! On Ice - Episode 8

I’ve already written and lost this post once today. I’ve poured my heart and soul out over it, and then proceeded to cry for half the day over losing something I’ve worked on for two hours.

However I find myself constantly overwhelmed by just how much feeling Yuri!!! On Ice is able to evoke in me. Just listening to one of the soundtracks I am one again overcome with tears and all these amazing, fluffy, warm feelings, so I’m giving it another shot and writing this post up once again.

I’m afraid I’m never going to find the words to express everything I feel perfectly, as I did this morning, and I don’t even remember all the points I wanted to make, but I sure as hell can look through the tears in my eyes and try to write up something half decent to maybe get half of my feelings across to like-minded people.

There’s So Much I could talk about regarding episode 8. However, I’m going to resume to the two major subjects that are making a fucking wreck out of my heart.

1: Victuuri~

So ok, I’ve heard people in the fandom comment on how this episode was, let’s say, too ‘mellow’ regarding Viktuuri and The Gay, compared to previous ones. However nearly a day has passed, and with each passing minute I feel more and more awed by how much love this episode expressed.

We’re all used to the episodes up to now that have been in-your-face gay. This one wasn’t that obvious. Not only did it try to pay a bit more focus to the other skaters - but with this episode, we saw a different kind of love. Episode 8 was literally like a slow-release pill.  While it wasn’t that obvious while I was watching, every single moment hits me stronger and stronger every time I remember.

Following last week, we didn’t get a direct acknowledgement of the kiss, and this is an unpopular opinion, but as far as I’m concerned - this is So Good.

So far, everything about their relationship had grown so steadily, so naturally. There was never one moment when BAM, one character fall in love. There was never one direct admission that ‘we are in love and we are together now’. Instead what we got was a relationship that developed, and grew so naturally, and seemlessly, that one day, with no direct statements needed, both the characters and the viewers simply Knew that they love each other.

So I’m SO GLAD that they didn’t go out of their way to acknowledge the kiss. Instead it was treated like it was nothing more than the obvious next, natural step in their ever-growing relationship. And for me, that’s so beautiful. Because knowing that about two weeks have passed since the cup of china, what we see now is not a love confession - we see a couple whose relationship feels domestic, and normal, and organic and relaxed.

Today, we’ve seen things that we never have before between them, and they seem more and more significant every single time I remember. They both act so casually, so in sync, their whole dinamic feels so domestic, like a married couple who have known each other for years and are perfectly in tune with how the other acts. They’re literally like two pieces of puzzle that slide next to each other so easily and perfectly, to the point where there’s no doubt that they’re made to be a pair.

They flirt openly. They display affection in ways that differ from the usual hugs they always shared. For the first time, every one of their behaviours is reciprocated. They act silly together, they act serious together. We see Viktor kissing his skate while Yuuri wears this ‘look at my silly boyfriend’ look where he would have once been flustered. We see Viktor actually answer him when Yuri does his possessive boyfriend thing. Twice this episode, we see Viktor kneeling in front of Yuuri. This has never happened before in the whole show - and it’s so important that it happens now, right on the tail of the previous episode, where for the first time, they finally reach equal grounds in their relationship once Yuuri calls him an idiot (that’s a discussion for another post, though).

We see the two of them the moment they both notice Yurio in his agape mode. With no preparation, with zero thought, they simultaneously make the proudest, silliest faces and proceed to cheer on the child, in perfect sync, and they’re so cute and amazing when they do.

We see them cheering in each other’s language - using each other’s specific favourite word like they’d spent so much time together that they’d picked up on the other’s verbal quirks. We see them do this in front of the cameras, in an adorable scene where they act together like a quirky couple and move like a tag team and where Yuri wears this fond, warm smile despite being whacked in the face.

We see Yuuri skating out on the ice, thinking about how nobody in the entire world wants him to win, about how the whole ice-skating world is basically against him at this moment - and despite expectations, not even for a second is he afraid or even slightly nervous. He’s actually excited - I’d even say Exilerated - about it. It’s him, taking on the entire ice-skating world, and he can’t wait for it. Because now he knows that he won’t lose something -someONE- he cares about to them. He’s so Confident and  At Ease around Viktor, he is 100% determined to show the entire world, as well as Viktor himself, that their place is next to each other - whether as skaters or as lovers, it doesn’t even matter.

I’m honestly so happy with this episode, I’m purely overwhelmed with how much love there is between these two, and how healthy and wonderful and amazing their relationship has become.

2: Yurio

Ok, guys. Hear me out. I love my angry kitten son, So. Much. He was so adorable and cute this episode I lost my shit, all those SMILES honestly just shoot me in the face and stop my pain. He’s amazing. So, hey, listen. Hear me out.

Yurio is a 15 year old, and an ice skater, right? Right. Honestly, he’s 15 and he’s so amazing and Determined. He’s giving it his absolute all in order to succeed at this one thing and once again I’m overwhelmed by how amazing he is in the way that he pursues this dream.

So anyway, for the past months, we’ve seen him struggle and learn and improve so much, and now here he is, going all Agape on their asses and looking like an actual fucking princess. Guys he’s so pretty.

This episode we Finally got to meet his grandpa, the figure he uses to channel his Agape. We see Yurio finally smiling and acting silly and that’s beautiful. However, interesting enough, even though Grandpa is supposed to be the main figure related to Yurio’s new skating, we’ve never once seen him next to the rink, even in memories. He’s always connected to warm moments, and walks and Home. What’s even more, of the two times we’ve seen him skate on Agape, not once was he actually able to channel the feeling of agape though his grandpa. It was a struggle for him to even remember his grandpa while skating.

On the other hand, for the past episodes, it seems the opposite is true for the other adults around him. The most obvious we have are Yakov and his ex wife, what’s-her-name. We see some of his training; we see him moving in with her for the sake of that training. We see these two adults treat him like a professional ice skater, as he is, and as he deserves to be treated because he worked so hard to be where he is today.

Following his gold medal in the junior grand Prix, even the rest of the ice skating world sees him like a professional. And that’s amazing.

Through all of this however, all of these people seem to forget that he is, in fact, also just a 15 year old.

And hey, guys.

Guys.

Hear me out.

I love Viktor and Yuri. So. Much. You don’t understand. They’re amazing and cute and just. I love them.

Y’all remember the ‘hot springs on ice’ event, right? Of course you do. It struck me that, at that time, they had that contest between ‘the two yuris’. What was amazing at that time was that despite being around ten years older than him, Viktor and Yuri never once looked down on Yurio, never once treated him condescendingly or as if he was only a child. They both treated him with respect, took him seriously and acknowledged him as an ice skater.

However, as we’ve seen, the opposite is also true. In episode 8, Yurio has lashed out and thrown a hissy fit at them on more than one occasion. However both Yuri and Viktor only smiled in response, because they knew not to take mean remarks to heart. They knew he’s just a 15 year old with a lot of feelings, and they knew not to be hurt by what he’s saying and doing.

Instead we see their reactions when Yurio’s making his way out on the ice in full Agape mode. And what they do is proceed to put on the proudest, happiest possible smiles. They proceed to be happy for him, to even cheer him on - they’re the ones who wake him up when he’s growing towards a panic attack.

Despite the fact that, by all accounts, they’re supposed to be rivals in this contest, they cheer on him and support him as if he were their child.

I have no words to describe how wonderful this is, because they’re the first people who acknowledge him as an ice skater AND a 15 year old - little more than a child, really - without having one side overshadow the other, without acting as if he were a kid like his fangirls seem to, yet without forgetting that he still is young, and providing the emotional support that he needs. Even if Yurio can’t seem to see it yet, be cause he Has to Be Stong (a discussion for another post) they’re both there for him.

Guys.

At the moment, he can’t channel his Agape peopperly thinking of his grandfather.

Guys, lis t e n

He can’t Channel Agape thinking of his grandpa. Meanwhile there Viktor and Yuri are, throwing so much love and support at him despite his prickly edges and hissy fits, throwing unconditional love at him-

gU Y S

WHat if Viktor and Yuri are his Agape. They’re the Only One we’ve seen who accept both aspects of him and shower him in unconditional love and pride and support. He refuses to acknowledge it, or if he can’t see it. They’re There, waiting for the moment when he’s ready to accept them.

He hasn’t been managing Agape because he can’t channel that feeling with the way he’s trying to now. He won’t be able to channel it that way, either. He needs to change his agape.

The ultimate Character Development for him would be to realise that he’s got so much unconditional love from a completely different source and he needs to accept it. -

What if the first time he manages to perfect Agape is only when he acknowledges Viktor and Yuri and and accepts their Unconditional Love? I have so many feelings about this, I’m so passionate about these three because they’re all amazing and their relationship is wonderful and I just.

Someone please scream with me because I have so many pent up feelings.

I’m also tired as fuck because I had a massive emotional breakdown not even halfway through this and I’m still really bitter that I can’t find the proper words to express my thoughts on these three children, so I still have a lot left in me to keep screaming about them for hours.

(Please scream with me someone)

So yeah, anyway, have this 2k word behemoth of a post with my thoughts on the main 3. I'ma go have some coffee now, hmu, byeEE~~

Arrow: Lauriver and Olicity

I don’t ship Lauriver or Olicity but here’s an analysis….

I totally get why fans failed to connect with Laurel/Oliver as a couple but also individually in the beginning (sorry Olaurel/Lauriver fans). As I’m having an Arrow marathon to watch all the episodes fully. In the first two episodes all of Oliver and Laurel’s interactions are so bitter. (To some degree understandably because he slept with her little sister, great idea writing team that was perfect truly…not). She is so sharp and self righteous. The scene outside the courtroom where she introduces her client and takes that moment to make digs at him

- “Oliver just got back from 5 years on an uncharted Island before that, he was cheating on me with my sister, he was with her when she died, and last week he told me to stay away from him it was really good advice”

Setting: He just finished being declared not dead. Reliving the fact he survived not his father, which we are showed through flashback. He is friendly and respectful introducing himself, since he was around people he didn’t formally know. She was with a client but she makes the moment all about herself. I remember watching and hoping in that moment Oliver/Joanna might be a thing lol because i couldn’t take the cattiness.

Reactions: Oliver’s reaction to Laurel - Stephen Amell plays Oliver perfectly stoic, which is awesome because after everything he’s been through, it’s a skill to bring a character to life while conveying part of him is dead inside and the other part is full on tortured warrior. But they did not bring out ANY good in eachother. His presence brought out this self righteous cow in her. And she literally made him stay dead and stoic in his emotion. And in our minds the words of Mrs. Green from Friends “once a cheater always a cheater” rang in our ears. As a fan you got NOTHING!

Then a couple of scenes later you get this very stagnate bonding over ice cream moment which is in no way earned and SO confusing. Then some ninjas break in. Laurel runs into Oliver’s arm and he (one of the only scenes I’ve liked of theirs) strokes her hair. Now there are moments where these two could have gone down the right path of a ship the fandom loves but this was a hit/miss which all their scenes tend to be. Because like I said the set up was never balanced. They bounced from not even angst but bitterness to “friends” I guess. To the Smallville handbook of she has a crush on the guy under the hood. But it never felt genuine, it was uncomfortable watching their scenes.

Fast forward to 1x03 “Lone Gunmen”…

You’ve just had Oliver find out Laurel was sleeping with his best friend, again another stoic response. Oliver and Tommy are getting their asses beat, Laurel jumps in. Mistake 1001, Mary Sue alert. It’s obvious what the writers are trying to do future BC, got some moves. But it is totally unrelatable. Buffy was awkward, fun and sassy to watch as she got her slayer on. Because it’s all about a journey. We watch Oliver’s through his flashbacks. But Laurel’s are always present. It’s a problem they have writing for female characters on Arrow. Not everything you throw to the wall sticks. You wanna see Laurel, I’m not begging for a damsel, but try, fail and grow. The beauty is always in the attempt.

Reaction: Again Laurel has an attitude “Tommy and I don’t need your blessing, and I don’t need your forgiveness” Another face palm at the writers. Oliver and Laurel literally repel each other. They think this Mary Sue strong moment is inciting but it’s off putting. As they’ve put Laurel constantly on PMS since the Pilot.

Then the throw away moment that no one expected to turn the whole show around. Put away your arrows Olicity fans, but I gotta speak the truth on this. This scene was constructed to be nothing more than a way for Oliver to get information. It was supposed to a get in get out meaningless scene, with a nice nod to the comics.

Then Felicity Smoak opens her mouth, and it’s the dream of every fanboy and fangirl because of the age with live in there is nothing more captivating or compelling than an organic moment, this quirky, comical, awkward, geek chic real young women breathes LIFE into Oliver Queen.

Reaction: A smile creeps across Oliver Queen’s face not a fake disingenuous bearing of teeth, but a knee jerk, can’t resist gravity reaction to this stranger speaking her mind and calling him out complete and total BS. She becomes the voice of the fan,

“these look like bullet holes…” “my coffee shop is in a bad neighborhood” [head tilt].

You’re watching and thinking what just happened. Because it wasn’t atypical. It wasn’t heavy. It just WAS. And you’re left speechless.

Setting: The moment you saw that little IT room, you knew you little snippets of greatness were coming your way (so glad they waited till 1x14 to integrate her and they did it swiftly and stylishly)

Oliver and Laurel’s relationship: was terribly constructed, poorly written because it was overwritten and cliche. The canvas was too busy.

Oliver and Felicity’s relationship: was never supposed to be anything and THAT (and of course Amell and Rickards chemistry) is why it works. A blank canvas that with one stroke of the brush brings electricity.

Then they have a second scene, a great follow up which is overlooked because the first scene knocked people out. I’m all about symbolism. Oliver is seated a little below, just a little lower than Felicity at the computer. And thus the STORY begins. Oliver becomes human. Rootable. Relatable. Something which was sorely lacking. He no longer needs to narrate for us (thank goodness they dropped that). He is no longer at this unattainable level the fans just can’t reach. Because of his relationship with Felicity (and Diggle which is key) there is this unexpected, spontaneous unraveling of a dynamic, a relationship unfolding which the fans are desperately chasing. Where his struggle, his conflict, his inability to truly connect and let people in because of what he’s been through becomes real.

The show was supposed to focus on Oliver/Tommy/Laurel as all the promotions and interviews were initially describing. Although Tommy had some kick. They both dulled Oliver’s character rather than harnessed.

Felicity and Diggle harnessed Oliver’s character and developed the story, the setting, the meaning of it all. Diggle, in my opinion is just as funny as Felicity, and just as necessary. He throws out and delivers one liners that just slay me. It’s the combination of Diggle the war hero and Felicity the IT girl thrown into a whole new world that elevates Oliver. His heroism, his leadership is portrayed to us through their eyes, through their loyalty to him, through his interactions, his feelings, his protection of them. He remains the protagonist as it’s his story of a hero that we are following, his mission, his goal, his (never ending) secrets and mysteries revealed to us through flashback. But they individually become just as important while still maintaining Oliver at the center. Tommy and Laurel were fragmented and distant from Oliver, it was the only way the story could be told but it made it unworkable for fans to come behind their “friendships”

Oliver/Tommy/Laurel: mistrust, betrayal, lack loyalty or unity. Misrepresentation and misunderstanding

Oliver/Diggle/Felicity: a foundation built on a leap of faith (Scooby Gang of Buffy, trio of Harry Potter, gang of TBBT, gang of HIMYM) lives thrown together. It’s the magic.

As ships go, I’m glad the writers didn’t make Oliver/Felicity hook up, even if the fans are screaming OLICITY like a mantra. Why? It is such an amazing thing when you have majority of a fandom behind one ship. When they literally tell you this is the ship! We adore it! We are blown away, we’re the fireworks that are catapulting this show to the forefront of the media! Can you hear the fandom roar? Rather than the writers sitting back saying “we planned this all along”. Which is why when Oliver looks at another women aside from Felicity and fans lose it I’m like chill. The fact that a single shoulder touch, look, or Oliver towering over Felicity can drive the fans absolutely mental is such a testament to Amell/Rickards and to the (can’t believe I’m about to say this) power of Olicity. So there is no need to rush it in any way. Their dynamic without being “involved” is complex and deep, it’s happening. Without all these moments to build upon without all these Elizabeth and Mr Darcy hand touches, the beauty of their relationship escapes you.

Which is how they failed with Oliver/Laurel after 5 whole years, this huge betrayal, the completely different direction of their lives….they kiss in episode 5… oh my heavens why…once again it wasn’t earned, Laurel is water eyed, Oliver is stoic…oh joy! Don’t get me wrong there are times it totally works Olivia/Fitz Scandal, knocked it out of the park! But main reason WE SEE THEIR WHOLE LOVE STORY IN FLASHBACK as well as flashforward. Since Oliver/Laurel are already poorly established we are not left wanting. Once again 20mins later they are back to “we can never be together”. Fans are not invested and literally want to hear anything but these two rehash their drama.

Tommy/Laurel this was Laurel’s saving grace, a relationship that brought out the best in her (alongside her relationship with father) because she was thrown arcs CNRI, lawyer, broken over sister’s death and betrayal but it didn’t work! But what do they do… they play out what they planned Oliver/Laurel/Tommy which falls completely flat because the topic of discussion amongst fans is what dirty innuendo is Felicity going to make next not who is Laurel going to choose?

So how do we resolve this, cut of the limb, kill Tommy give Oliver more cause, but in this process they cut off Laurel’s lifeline. Not only does Tommy die, but Laurel and Oliver basically betray Tommy (i’m sorry you can’t tell me any different) before his death. He dies a heroically, and matter of fact as it sounds. Oliver and Laurel are thoughtless. Less than 24 hours after saying “fight for her Tommy” and Laurel saying “Too much crying [over Tommy]” they have sex. Once again it was not earned. You want the ship coming together to be explosive, although they used an explosive song, it was flat. It didn’t feel like the writers tried. It was in the apartment Laurel and Tommy shared, it felt like they were trying to wrap up the season. And most importantly Oliver is not changed by entering back into an intimate relationship with Laurel. 5 years this women was never going to let you kiss her let alone be with her after what you did. But the way it happens he’s not careful, it doesn’t feel like she’s precious to him. It just feels like it was sex - like with Helena and McKenna.

Sidenote: The fact Oliver won’t even dare with Felicity, alone, is gripping.

Why is Oliver redeemable over Tommy’s betrayal and you’re left crying with him as he dies in his arms? And why is Laurel hated? It is because he’s the guy, to some maybe (sexist pigs lol) but because Felicity and Diggle (and his heroism) make him redeemable. You are forced to see him through their eyes. Who is their to shine the light on Laurel’s awesomeness? The main one just died trying to save her. And Quentin isn’t enough sadly.

Begin Season 2…

The perfect opportunity to revamp Miss Laurel Lance right…right? Wrong.

Switch the roles with her and her father and make her have this unnecessary misdirected hate towards the Arrow. Dismiss the Oliver/Laurel hook up, try respect Tommy, then turn it around and try hook up. I don’t know whether it’s a trope because Oliver through the first half of the second season is smelling like a rose. While Laurel is a mess, not self righteous but self deprecating which is equally troublesome.

In the meanwhile, Felicity Smoak is growing she is shedding some of the girl (as the Undertaking shook her innocence) and blossoming more as woman.

She still is Felicity which was always most important to me, but she’s more vocal, she’s risk taking (the try and fail) I was talking about. She’s the heart, the brains and Amy Pond said it best, Oliver and Diggle are her boys!

They completely put the brakes on Oliver/Laurel however much they lie and claim they haven’t they did. This could have been good, as they could have repaired and focused on Laurel’s personal growth like I said but alas…they do not provide her with any purpose, during this break of Oliver/Laurel. I honestly can’t say what she was doing this season. Cassidy was missing for several episodes. They robbed her of BC but putting the amazingly talent Caity Lotz who I tried not to love but damn it I’m only human. Basically making Laurel wait in the wings (only good thing is BC isn’t officially in the public as largely as the Arrow) so those moments can be saved for Laurel. But still…the well keeps getting..dry. Oliver/Laurel drift further and further apart and the song “now you’re just somebody that I used to know” plays in the background. Oliver (2nd of the season who I’m not crazy about) is disrespectful to Laurel and yet she accepts it and appeases him and Sara. (When 2x14 was the first time I truly rooted for Laurel with all of my being. I literally was making Olivia Pope speeches for) I’m still scratching my head on that one - they rewrote history Oliver/Sara meaningful, Oliver was actually lying to Laurel all through Season 1, Laurel was a little underhanded in getting Oliver, Island flashbacks are different WHERE’S THE PICTURE OLIVER? WHERE IS IT? On the whole season 2 was a missed opportunity for Laurel. I don’t feel like the writers try with Laurel. And I personally don’t like her but I know it’s only as a result of the writers, because Katie Cassidy’s resume speaks for itself. She is a great actress!

The writers completely surprised me with their take on Oliver/Felicity for Season 2 however. How well they developed them, they really nailed it! I was stunned by the emotions of 2x06, the most discussed line is “because of the life that I led, I just think it’s better, that I not be with someone I could really care about” yes my jaw was on the floor too, and I don’t actively ship any ship. I ship the team and characters.

But the BEST line of it all was

Oliver: it didn’t mean anything.. [Felicity looks down] hey.

So much can be said for that moment. Rewatch it. That’s the gold. That analysis of that moment would take a so much more of this already looonng post. Sacred. Piercing. Deep.

They pulled back on Oliver/Felicity on the second half which was fine, if they would have done it more smoothly and preserved Oliver’s character but after everything from 2x01-2x11 it was literally like catching your breathe after all their wonderfully crafted scenes. (2x07 Oliver killing the Count, is just another scene which needs a whole post). It was time to lean back. And Team Arrow it up by increasing the number in the Foundry not pull Oliver into a romantic entanglement. But what’s done is done.

But it once again proved Oliver/Felicity is no go until Oliver pulls his head out his ass (as Felicity would say) and Felicity (sorry Olicity fans) gets a personal storyline but also GETS A BOYFRIEND. Yeah sorry not sorry, SHE NEEDS A BOYFRIEND, she is a beautiful capable woman (another reason she’s so relatable because so many beautiful women so many clueless men, welcome to reality). Someone she cares about, who finds her wonderful. Barry was just a little hiccup a way to introduce The Flash. And damn it’s good to watch the comic heroes interact! Where was I? This MIT graduate must have better things to do than wait for Oliver Queen? It will come off bad if she doesn’t do her own thing in Season 3. I’m so serious. But it seems like they are headed that way so I don’t need to have a problem with her. I did not like how she behaved in 2x14, I was like girl, you’re better than this! Don’t make me an anti post about you cos I will. She recovered by declaring it was about her, and quickly putting the silliness behind her. Quick recovery.

Season 3

Needs to rebuild the Queen name which is all on Oliver’s shoulders now. Felicity as an individual character, which was more than worth the wait. I know some fans were complaining but Laurel had arcs since the beginning and they didn’t work. Better to build and think about it. Plus Felicity was never supposed to be a series regular it takes a rework to develop a great story. I waited three years for Olivia Pope’s backstory believe I’m capable of waiting for Felicity’s. So Felicity, outside of Oliver, Diggle and the Foundry.

Oliver/Felicity gotta have bonding moments, time together which isn’t the mission, it’s just them. But not with a romantic element hanging over them after the ILYs ruse/reality/serious head fudge.

Laurel, I wish some of her fans would stop talking about Olicity, it’s all still Olicity noise and manages to be the thing that is most talked about. I remember the Mikaru reveal happened in 2x07 and it was barely noticed because Oliver/Felicity had a scene right before it. If people want Laurel to finally be considered, they gotta talk about her all the time, not Olicity. The fan pandering argument is cheap and never makes sense. So you’re affirming that the fans are literally gagging for it. What else should they be doing? Sighing and yawning. Fan dozing? Although I am overall so disappointed with Dinah *sigh* I cling to the 2x14 where it was Laurel against the whole world and I saw something in her. If that can be brought to life in Season 3. Then yes.

As for Oliver/Laurel let it die so Laurel can live that’s what is most important. After he got back with Sara. I was floored. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me for letting you fool me again!

Analysis over. Gonna continue my Arrow marathon.

Storybrooke Con - quick day 2 report

So I only went this morning and attended the Sean panel and got a picture with Lana (and briefly saw Bex walking across the parking lot ahaha). I’m a bit late in typing this up so it may have been posted already, but Sean’s panel was AMAZING. He joked from the start that it was early Sunday morning and everyone was hungover and jetlagged, “or maybe that’s just me.” The first girl asked him if he could sing something and he was rather horrified by the idea, “you just sing a capella first thing on Sunday morning, no problem! Do a gymnastics routine! Take your pants off!” (He did promise her that he would, and at the end he had everyone sing a verse of “Bare Necessities” with him).

Overall, he was completely in give-no-fucks mode while also being incredibly funny and charming and off the cuff. Every time someone asked him about a plot hole/Zelena situation he was like, “MAGIC. That’s what they tell me. I’ve stopped asking questions. I don’t write a single word of it. I have zero to do with it. If I’m like, ‘but - ‘, they’re like, ‘MAGIC.’ ‘But - ‘ MAGIC.’” Someone asked him a rather ranty question about the Zelena/Regina/Robin situation never really being addressed on screen, and he just made the most hilarious faces throughout like “DO YOU EXPECT ME TO KNOW??” And then said it sounded like a caller on a French radio show and launched into this whole impression (in fake French accent) of a host explaining the OQ/Zelena situation and clearly was just like, “yeah don’t ask me I don’t know either” (while still being nice and funny about it, not rude).

He complained that Hook and Emma have gotten to go dark, but Robin hasn’t. “I want to be a baddie! I want Robin to be a bit evil, explore that side, go, I don’t know, kill a bunch of kids or something. Please don’t put that on Twitter. No context, people will go, OH HE WANTS TO KILL KIDS I KNEW HE WAS TERRIBLE GRRR GRRR. This is going well, isn’t it?” He also noted that Eduardo would probably make a great costume for Evil Robin Hood.

He talked a bit about his working relationship with Lana and how well they get along and enjoyed filming the dance scene in episode 2, and couldn’t get through it, even though it should have been easy, because they kept cracking each other up. He also made fun of people saying they don’t like each other, or “I see people on twitter saying, ew why are they touching [behind the scenes] they hate each other… to which I say please…. SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Again, joking but still absolutely in give-no-fucks mode and off the cuff and rather hungover and thus without a filter, haha. He called it a pleasure to work with her and noted that they’re all really good friends, including Fred and Tanya. He said he just really likes the cast in general and they’re all great people, it’s not just that he’s “eh they’re okay” but he genuinely loves working with them.

He says we’ll find out Baby Hood’s name in a few weeks and it’ll make sense why they didn’t reveal it before and at one point was like, “Who’s the baddie?” and everyone was like, “Hades.” He didn’t give any hints on what more it might be, just that we’ll know soon.

Someone asked what kept him happy after a long day or when things don’t go well, and he said his son (and everyone awww’ed.) He said that Flynn and Evan O’Donoghue are playmates, which is incredibly adorable (cue more awwwing).

He also gushed over Colin. He said he was the best man he’s ever met, an amazing husband and father, and “he’s my brother.” (He noted that MRJ was like the third musketeer of their little gang). Someone asked who Robin would be with if not Regina, and Sean of course said Robin only loves Regina, but then instantly was like, “But if not her, Hook. There’s something there. Two men… living in a forest…. wearing leather…. it’s a bit questionable. You know, he loves Regina. But if not her, yes, absolutely Hook.” He was joking, but I have a feeling that if OUAT ever woke up in Bizarro Land one day and decided to make Captain Hood a thing, Sean would jump on a romantic story for Robin/Killian, lol. Bless his heart. (It got a big cheer as well. Especially from me. Ahem.)

Someone apologized to him for all the fandom nonsense he has to put up with, and he said that nobody here had to apologize, we are all fans and we love the show and have made great connections for it and he’s not angry about any of that anymore. He said that he used to get worked up about twitter nonsense, but now he just feels sorry for anyone who sits on the internet sending horrible things to people they don’t know and have never met. He notes that he just blocks them out of hand now and moves on with his life and doesn’t give it any thought.

He sang a bit at the end (and had us sing with him, as noted) and everyone gave him a huge hand. Total contrast to Colin from yesterday being his shy, somewhat awkward self, while Sean is just out there causing a localized deficit of fucks and completely riffing on everything and not even attempting to explain plot holes and acknowledging the ridiculousness of the situation and so forth. (At one point, he also decided that Robin’s pet name for Regina should be “Magic Knickers.” Don’t ask me.)

After that, I wanted to get my picture with Lana, which was total madness as pretty much everyone wanted one, and the queue was very long and by the time I got my turn, they were really hurrying everyone along and trying to get it over (I was near the end due to group number, and for some bewildering reason, they only scheduled Lana’s photo op to be 35 minutes when she was clearly going to be the most popular option, everyone else was 45 minutes and…. yeah, I’m not sure what they were thinking). So I did get a few seconds with her and a picture, but nothing else. Oh well.

That was it for me for the day, and I headed back to the city for the afternoon, but yes. Sean Maguire is a treasure.

anonymous asked:

Excuse me for asking this but I'm new to fandom and tumblr and I've been seeing a lot of people say that all Olicity shippers don't care about Diggle at all and only see him as an Olicity shipper but really don't give two shits about him or his character development and that it's because he's black or whatever. I ship Olicity but I love Diggle and care about him just as much as I do Oliver and Felicity and as much as I adore Olicity I still care about Diggle too. Hope this isn't true.

First of all, thank you for the ask. Welcome to the fandom, Noonie. The Olicity fandom is by far the best fandom I’ve ever seen. I’ve been a TV addict all my life and I can honestly say that I’ve never been this invested in a show before; and it’s all because of the beautiful Arrow/Olicity fans.

Second of all, this is absolutely not true. Not even in the slightest. I am not exaggerating when I say that to this day I have yet to meet a fan who hates John Diggle. Fans adore Diggle. There are some “fans” who try to marginalize his rule in Oliver’s life and in Team Arrow. But they are just insecure because they know that he is 10 times more relevant and beloved than their favourite characters ever will. I’ve never seen anyone who hates him because he is black. And I better not, it won’t end well for them! Might I suggest visiting the ‘John Diggle’, ‘OTA’ and ‘og3′ tags? You’ll see just how much people love Diggle.

I don’t like to generalize but I’ve noticed that every Olicity shipper is a fan of Original Team Arrow (Oliver/Diggle/Felicity). And not because he is there to encourage Oliver to ask out Felicity or to play couples counsellor between the two. We truly care deeply about Diggle. You have no idea how excited we are to see more Diggle in season 4. One of the biggest mistakes season 3 did was sidelining Diggle. Fans were furious. They rallied and made petitions to get more Diggle stories.

We care about everything John Diggle related. We care about John Diggle the hero and the fighter. We care about John Diggle the friend/the brother/the partner. We care about John Diggle the mentor and the advisor. We care about John Diggle the father and the husband. We care about John Diggle who was the first person to challenge Oliver to be better. Who was the Oliver’s first partner. Who saved Oliver’s life more times than I can remember. We can’t wait to know more about him. We can’t wait to see more story arcs for him. Season 4 is promoted as John Diggle’s season. The John Diggle character was so amazing and loved to the point that they included him in the comic books.
The character and his partnership with Oliver on the show was so phenomenal and iconic that it became comic book cannon.

Rest assured, Noonie. People care deeply about all aspects of John Diggle’s life. You should’ve seen how excited fans were when it was revealed that the season 4 big bad is HIVE. It meant that it was finally Diggle’s season. Just think of all the awesome scenes we’d get with him fighting HIVE to get revenge for Andy. Diggle has been the leader of TA for 5 months, and he now has his own suit and is getting a code name. So just think of all the awesome fighting sequences we are going to get.

Cheer up, Noonie, it’s Diggle’s year!

On Chloe

P.S.: They’re just kids. Let them live.

Today someone brought up two very valid points on @clabrice‘s post about Chloe and the vitriolic hatred that the fandom seems to have for her. The first was that most people seem to see their own bully reflected in her. The second is that, like Umbridge from Harry Potter, she’s more relatable to hate than a faraway magical villain like Hawkmoth or Voldemort.

For the most part, I understand this. However, I think there’s a definite part of this that we’re not talking about, and that has to do with two other very major issues I have seen in the ML fandom, both related to the tendency that adults have to project onto teenagers/teenage characters.

as I am a lame-o and a stalker and a nerd, I decided to do a little series of writing about my favourite things in opm fandom??? Especially since I know how important it is for the content creators when the audience voices their admiration - since I think it, I might as well say it.

And the first thing that got me absolutely hooked was @furaitsu‘s blog and I just wanted to talk about their style and why I love them so much and why they’re juST SUCH AN ARTISTIC INSPIRATION FOR ME hhhng

Captain Swan in “Best Laid Plans” (small little details)

Where I live OUAT airs at 1am so I watch it live and then usually go to sleep. And my Mondays suck for me so I don’t really have much time to write an episode analysis right after the episode airs.

This means that by the time I can actually review (mainly) the CS scenes, I don’t have a whole lot of new things to say because the amazing metaers (is that a word?) of this fandom have already talked about everything.

So today I’ll talk about some small little details I’ve noticed while watching the CS scenes from the last episode. Hopefully, this won’t be repetitive (as much as I would like to, I’m sure I don’t follow every single blog that metas the CS scenes - if you are one, please let me know). I’m addicted to CS metas so if you write them, I’ll follow you for sure.

Okay, let’s start with their first scene. Of course the way Emma immediately comforted Killian and assured him that his happy ending wouldn’t go dark was adorable and my heart immediately bursted. And while yes, it’s ridiculous that Snowing thought CS and Henry couldn’t hear them when they were just two toothpicks away from them, my main focus wasn’t really there. I was more interested in hearing CS while the camera focused on Snowing (please don’t judge). And I don’t regret it a bit! Do you know why? Because I heard CS kissing. At least it sure looks like the sound of a small smooch and it fits with a) the way we hear it right after David stops looking at them and looks away:

and b) how the next shot of them is this:

So yes, they totally kissed in this scene. Which takes me to my next point: THEY KISSED IN FRONT OF HER PARENTS AND HER SON. And given how the rest of the scene played out, it’s highly likely that Emma was the one INITIATING THE KISS.

IN.FRONT.OF.HER.PARENTS.AND.SON.

After being openly affectionate with Killian in public spaces and having no problem joining the PDA squad, Emma ‘easy, tiger, we have company’ Swan has no issue kissing her boyfriend in front of the most important people in her life. In her parent’s loft. Homegirl doesn’t even care anymore and it’s soooooo adorable.

Second scene is the epic jealous Killian moment. His pouts and insecurities are heartbreaking to see, but it’s understandable that he feels curious about what kind of relationship Emma shares with August. He’s seen how concerned she was about him, it’s normal that there is some curiosity there. Is that fueled by his insecurities? Yes, but it’s not just that. He loves her and sometimes you just can’t help but feel a little jealous over the fact that other people are close to the person you love. As long as it’s healthy and doesn’t exceed the limits and turns into an obsession and need of possessiveness, I don’t see an issue. He was adorable in the way he tried to bring the matter to the table with his “You care for him”. Just like Emma did last week, that was his way to get her to tell him what was the deal between her and August.

And let’s be honest. Emma loved every single moment of it:

About the scene in the docks, I’m afraid I don’t have anything new to say. Their development both as individuals and as a couple was incredible. I just hope Emma’s “They were right” didn’t mean anything else (ie: Snowing was right to think Emma could go dark). And speaking of that, I’m preparing a post where I go back to the Oscars promo and briefly dwell on it with the information we now have of the last episodes.

All in all, great episode for CS! Let’s see what the next episode brings us.
