because this fandom is amazing and adores every second of their scenes

dreamingbrownie  asked:

Why is nobody talking about the Robert Downey Junior adaptation on Sherlock Holmes? I only saw the first movie from 2009 but it's so good?!? And a bit confusing for me because I'm a massive Iron Man fan which is the reason for me finding Tony FFs in which he dreams of his past life as Sherlock Holmes absolutely hillarious. But. So good! I still have to watch the second movie with Moriarty tho. And I love it that Sherlock clearly has ADHD there. Whatever, sorry for bothering you. Cheers!

Hi Lovely!

OH GOSH I LOVE RITCHIE HOLMES NO BOTHER AT ALL I’M ABOUT TO BOTHER YOU WITH MY MINI FREAKOUT. I mean it has its own faults and problems but I can overlook them because of the way Downey Jr. and Law play their Holmes and Watson! They so OBVIOUSLY love each other so much, and I adore the chemistry. Law even said that it’s a romance movie and BLESS HIS FUCKING HEART FOR THAT because HE KNOWS, and OH GOD RDJ loves Law so much. LIKE LOOK AT THESE FUCKERS:

OMG you’ll love the second one too; it’s a tad sad with the wedding, but Mary, OMG I love her in the Ritchie-verse… she KNOWS how much they love each other, doesn’t try to keep them apart, and she acknowledges how important Sherlock is to John AND AND AND she’s also a bamf too on the sidelines.

OHHHHH it’s so important that the audience is made EXPLICITLY aware of why Holmes goes after Moriarty – because he threatened Watson and Mary – and when *THAT SCENE* happens, the last thing Holmes ensures he sees is Watson, and then GOD the heartwrenching slow mo’ of that, where you see Holmes is at peace with his decision and FUCK it makes me cry thinking about it.

OH!! And Sherlock and John dance, no denials at all, just start dancing with each other, right there on screen… Like… I have no idea why people disllike these movies, honestly, they’re a treasure trove of Johnlock Moments.

OHHHH and Moriarty is genuinely frightening, imho, honestly. This Moriarty is played off as a completely “someone you meet every day” and I find that even scarier. He’s not Mags-levels of creepy, but fucknuggets he just… has an on-off switch and it’s scary. A calm sort of evil with intense levels of intelligence is more terrifying to me.

AND THE MUSIC OMG And HNNGGG the cinematics of the second one OMG IT’S ORGASMIC THE SLOW MOTION CHASE SCENE HNNG. The action shots are AMAZING and ASDFASFD Seriously WATCH IT. AND AGAIN I WILL MENTION THE SLOW MO SCENE AT THE END. FUCK. Just FUCK, it’s a beautiful bit of cinematography that makes my heart cry EVERY time. It’s one of my favourite movies of all time and I just. GOD RDJ and Law are just so perfect. There is torture in the second one though, so slight TW for that.

Maybe it’s because RDJ was my re-introduction into Holmes and therefore it holds a special place in my heart. And I know that this is sacrilege but RDJ / Law are my Victorian Holmes/Watson, but BBC is MY Sherlock and John, you know what I mean? Like BBC got me in DEEP into the fandom, so I love them for that, and I just really love Johnlock. SO MUCH JOHNLOCK.

ANYWAY I’M RAMBLING. I can’t WAIT until the third movie, it’s been SO LONG, and I am so excited. While I love the first one because of the Garridebs moment in it (not really but John gets hurt and they have A Moment ™) I think I liked the second movie better because the “love interest” was virtually non-existent and it focussed on Holmes/Watson’s relationship and the case at hand and getting to Moriarty. It was fantastic.

And RDJ Holmes is a different kind of smoll and I love it. And Watson is so BAMF, god. Just the deadpan comedy of Law is amazing.

GAHHHHH. It’s such an underrated movie series because **HOLLYWOOD** and that makes me sad, but seriously I love it so much and jump at any chance to watch it. The first one, I could have done without the Adler subplot (bleh), but it’s a great movie too.

Anyway. Sorry for this momentary diversion into Ritchie-verse. Continue on Johnlocking <3

Top 10 anime couples

Once again, thank you @lexinthymia for tagging me, this wa an absolute treat to do. Again, I’m limiting to one per series for fairness and there will be spoilers for some of these series. I admit some of these entries were based on what happened to them in the manga if the anime stopped at a certain point. Also, once again, I probably went into more detail then I needed to with some of these couples, but lets begin!

Honourable mentions that didn’t make the list: Touken (Tokyo Ghoul), Renruki, Ishihime, Ichihime, and Ginran (BLEACH), Victori (Yuri on Ice!!), Levihan (Shingeki no Kyojin), Royai (Fullmetal Alchmist), Tamaharu and Hikaharu (Ouran Highschool Host Club), Banlaine (Nanatsu no Taizai), Haku x Chihiro (Spirited Away), Hideki x Chii (Chobits), Ayame x Mine and Hatsuharu x Rin (Fruits Basket), Cielizzy (Kuroshitsuji), and Tetsuo x Kaori (Akira).

10. Hana x The Wolfman - Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki

It’s one of the most short-lived romances on the list, but by God it is so heartfelt! It’s the closest thing to the first ten minutes of Up you’ll get in anime form (in terms of how it hits you emotionally). Right off the bat the film made me care about these two so much as a couple and as individuals. The Wolfman is shrouded in mystery, a lonely figure in search of meaning and belonging, and Hana is optimisitic college student, told long ago to always smile in the face of tradegy and sadness. Together they form a quick bond that is genuine, sweet, and heartfelt. The Wolfman’s death was crushing, especially since we are left to piece together the circumstances of his death, and every scene they appear in together afterwards had me sobbing.

9. Kyoru - Fruits Basket

I have to include this pairing. I watched anime when I was really young, but I didn’t seriously get into it until nine years ago. The anime that threw me beyond the point of no return was Fruits Basket. I originally shipped Tohru with Yuki, but Kyo grew on me as a character and as a result so did his relationship with Tohru. The last few epiodes of the anime pretty much solidified them as one of my firt anime ships; but coupled with the events that happened in the manga and they became an unforgettable ship for me.Their relationship initally brought them joy, pain and uncertainty, but in the end, it healed them in almost everyway possible, allowing them both to move on from Kyoko’s death and find happines together.

8. Rock x Revy - Black Lagoon

I’ve only just recently got into Black Lagoon, but one of the things I love most about the show is the complex relationship between Rock and Revy. The chemistry between these two is insane! I love the banter and dialouge they share together, and they’re two sides of the same coin in a lot of ways - Revy is nihilistic and cynical, while Rock is calculating and always tries to save those in need, even in a place as chaotic and deathly as Roanapur. Their relationship is based on an ironic twist of the ‘getting a second chance at life’ trope for both of them - Revy gave Rock a second chance at life in a hell-hole of a place, and Rock made Revy realise she has another chance to be more then just a drifter in life. Also, that cigarette kiss is near iconic at this point.

7. Nishikimi - Tokyo Ghoul

You would not believe how hard it was to choose between Touken and Nishikimi. In the end I went with Nishikimi because I had keep this list more anime-focused (keep in mind I only saw the first season of Tokyo Ghoul and bits of the second season) and my love for Touken has stemmed mainly from later chapters in Tokyo Ghoul: re. The moment Nishiki said he would come back from the dead to kill Tsukiyama if he hurt Kimi, I knew I had a new angsty ship to worship. This couple just hit me in the feels every time they’re on-screen together or when they mention each other when they’re apart. They gave each other a reason to keep living and have shown they will go to the ends of the earth for each other (Nishiki dragging himself, starving and weakened, to Anteiku to search for Kimi, and Kimi willing to give up her flesh to feed Nishiki). Given the events of :Re, I really hope that it ends well for them, I don’t know if my heart could take it otherwise ;_;

6. EdWin - Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Winry are practically made for each other, and it was only a matter of time I started shipping them when I Started watchinG Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. They follow a few of  the tropes I absolutely adore in romantic relationhips (childhood friend-to-lovers, promises to protect, and the fighter-healer dynamic). Winry was Edward’s healer both physically (she gave him an arm and a leg and repairs them for him) and emotionally, and Edward has been a constant in Winry’s life since she was very young, being their for her when he parents were killed and giving her a reason to put her skills to use. As the series went on, I came love every scene they were in together (of particular mention is when Winry almot hot Scar and their not-so-equivalent exchange moment at the end of the series). Also, the fact Ed might have tried to match her height as a child by using his cow-lick is priceless.

5. Rivetra  - Shingeki no Kyojin

Man I wish this gif was actually a scene from the anime. The couple that will never be. Shingeki no Kyojin made it clear from the start that it wouldn’t be pulling any punches when it came to characters’ mortality, but it really hit me when Petra died…and even more so when I saw Levi’s reaction. There was a lot of potential for a relationship to grow between these two; for me they had a lot of chemitry in the moments they were together. As per the trend with quite a few of the couples on this list, they were opposites in a lot of ways, but their differences complimented each other so well. Petra was mother-hen of sorts for the Survey Corp., while Levi was their steel-bound, stoic leader. However, I always felt Petra could see the other part of him many didn’t - that he actually cares about his comrades a great deal and has been through a lot of loss - and Levi always treated her lightly different from the others. It’s a darn shame we didn’t get more moments of them together or find out Levi’s true feeling towards Petra, but regardless, I still ship them for what could have been.

4. Takeo x Rinko - Ore Monogatari!!

These two the very definition of ‘sweet’!! I just can’t get over how cute, fluffy, and special their relationhip is. It really helps that they are adorkable people themselves. Rinko is a kind and sweet girl with a love for baking and tall, burly men, while Takeo is biggest goofball with a heart of gold and a strong will to help others.A a result they’re a hugely likeable couple who are so sweet and funny and charming when they’re together. I loved seeing their relationship develop in both the convetional and non-conventional ways of shoujo anime. Also, their character designs just suit each other so, so well!

3. Gutsca - Berserk

I just…oh God, these two! Their relationship is one of the reasons I loved the Berserk anime and continue to read the manga. I love how a sense of tenderness slowly grew between them, and how they healed each other in small ways when they finally got together. After the Eclipse…oh God, here come the tears again! I don’t want to spoil anything in case anyone of you are reading/watching or want to read/watch Berserk (trust it’s better if you aren’t spoiled for maximum emotional impact), but they’ve been through so much and I desperately want them to have a happy ending together (but this is Berserk, what the chance fo that actually happening? T_T).

2. Tomoya x Nagisa - Clannad & Clannad: After Story

The heart of Clannad is it’s characters and the little adventures they get up to, but it’s through Tomoya and Nagisa’s relationship that this all made possible; it is the thread that binds every event and character in the story, including the parallel world with the girl and the robot. These two are incredibly sweet and endearing together, able to bring the best out of each other, motivate each other when they’re going through strife, and change each other for the better - Tomoya came to believe in second chances and see the goodness within himself because of Nagisa, while Nagisa learned to be more assertive and gain more self-confidence because of Tomoya. They’re such a likeable and relateable couple, to the point where fangirled for their moments of joy and sobbed up rivers when sadness or tragedy struck. I love them so much and always will!

1. HitsuHina - BLEACH

This is my only OTP. The only couple that has made me inconsolable after one particular event happened to them. The only couple I have been completely rendered speechless by when I see and think about their bond. The only couple that hold a very special place in my heart. I don’t think I will ever love a ship as much as I love HitsuHina. I have done everything for them that I have never done for any other couple in any other fandom: I have written metas about them, am constantly coming up with fanfic and fanart ideas for them, and once literally sung my praises for them from a rooftop. I can not stress enough how powerful and incredible their bond is: it has survived the worst fo trials and I can practically feel the decades of history between them by just watching them interact. The effect they have on each other is also amazing: Toshiro always endevours to become stronger for Momo’s sake and would do anything for her, and Momo’s bond with Toshiro was strong enough to make her doubt the man she dearly admired. I could sit here all day tell you why I love them so much, but if you’re intereted, I have a whole bunch or ramblings and metas on my blog that can do the job for me.

And there you have it! If you guys want to do it, I tag @sakura-warrior, @xxhanabifireworksxx, @salzrand, and @herprettysmile.

O.K.K.O: Let’s Be Heroes! Series Review

Now HERE’S a show I’ve wanted to get a chance to sit down and watch forever. O.K.K.O: Let’s Be Heroes! is the rare show that comes along every once in a while that immediately sparks my interest upon seeing some previews. The show is just everything I love as a person. It’s back to good ol’ hand drawn frame by frame, it’s got both fun physical AND well written humor, and it features some of my favorite people in the industry around like members of the animation team behind the also fantastic Steven Universe and the guys behind some of the most phenomenal animation on the web, Studio Yotta, which fans may know created most of the music videos for the band Starbomb.  As if the show was literally made for me it also premiered on my birthday no less. It’s centered around one of the coolest concepts ever … FIGHTING. Yeah, I know that recently we’ve been getting pretty tired of violence in the real world and for good reason. The controversial shit is really getting to a lot of people. But there’s two types of fighting: that which is propelled by maliciousness and hatred, and that which is for sportsmanship, adrenaline and honest to God fun. This show is the latter type of fighting through and through, and it is AWESOME. Naturally this show did not disappoint me. I binge watched a whole bunch of it to get caught up and had a big ass grin on my face the whole time.

K.O is a spunky, ambitious and good hearted little kid (Think Steven Universe and Goku from DBZ mashed together, and a bit of Ryu from Street Fighter) who wants to become a hero like the people around who inspire him, such as the towering musclebound badass of a plaza boss Mr. Gar. To do this, he ends up getting employed at Lakewood Plaza Turbo and works alongside Radicles, the pompous macho alien man with the levitation beam who’s secretly hiding a sensitive side (think Lars from Steven Universe but more endearing and less of a pain in the ass), and Enid, the snarky, sarcastic ninja who gives no fucks. They go on some misadventures, learn some lessons about themselves, occasionally Lord Boxman and his goons cause some trouble but they’re never threatening, and once in a while we get some clues into Mr. Gar’s past and how it’s tied to K.O’s mom Carol.

I’ve gone on record before in saying that the best show premises are the ones just broad enough to go in all sorts of different directions with creative storytelling, and this show is thankfully no different. It’s got a great memorable setting with an expansive likable cast, great recurring jokes and a refreshingly fun tone about it. You can definitely tell the Steven Universe team worked on it because that and O.K.K.O have very distinct similarities, especially early season one of SU. The main difference to me though is the level of drama and the quality of humour. It’s a relatively new show that promises to introduce some drama down the line so comparing that to SU doesn’t feel fair at this point in time, but I’m very confident in saying O.K.K.O is funnier. SU has decent jokes, don’t get me wrong, but something about O.K.K.O just got me to laugh more consistently at it’s ultra bizarre humor. My favorite jokes tend to be the ones about Enid hating having to deal with entitled customers, but my favorite joke in the whole show thus far involves a certain coffee pun making mughead named Joe Cuppa. It’s a reveal that is so surreal and so bewildering that I can’t spoil the surprise, but damn if it isn’t funny.

In terms of both storytelling and animation, despite being an action show first and foremost, O.K.K.O’s greatest attribute is it’s humor. The wild faces, the great comedic timing in the cuts, the bizarre movement of the characters at times, plus the combination of both surreal and poignant lines make for a consistently clever ride. There’s one particular episode that I think really captures the harsh reality of fandoms that’s relevant to an eerie extent, and it can all be summed up by this one line by Radicles.

“Who knew people could be so dumb about art they love so much?”

Now, being an animator myself, one of the biggest attractions to this show for me was the fact that it was a return to classic Hand Drawn 2D animation. In a time where the vast majority of television programming is either passable but uninteresting character rigging or bland, texture lacking 3d animation, a return to what is in my opinion the most organic, spontaneous and therefore the most consistently interesting animation style is always welcome. The show even references it’s animation style at 24 FPS in one of the lyrics sung by Rebecca Sugar in the credits, which I adore.

“Every second that you see is 24 connected pieces. Thank you for coming. Thank you for staying. Thank you for watching the show.” - Rebecca Sugar.

Really, that lyric should be a pretty good indication about the kind of passion put into this show. When this show gets going, it’s got some of the most consistently satisfying and creative animation I’ve seen in a long time. The characters feel unbound by typical design conventions which allows for more flexibility in their expressions and their poses, and it makes for both very effective comedy and some of the most dynamic and well choreographed action scenes you can find on TV right now. A large contribution to the studio being able to pull this off is the simplistic art style. Every character is often times sketched pretty roughly with some proportions being askew at times, hands turning into little spheres, backgrounds lacking big details and so on. But what the art lacks in consistency it more then makes up for in fluidity and spontaneity. I’m actually glad they don’t care as much about the little details because it gives them the freedom to put more time into creating the kind of epic grand scale fighting we like to see. It really does feel like they put a lot of heart and soul into how this show looks. The intro and outro alone are hype as hell to watch.

Now that said, the animation isn’t without it’s problems. Sometimes it’s really obvious where they put in minimal effort to save time, especially in large cheering crowd scenes, and I’ve noticed more then a few awkward cuts and transitions unfortunately when I could easily think of something that would have looked better and could be done in the same amount of time. But you can’t win everything I guess. All in all, I dig the way this show works and it has it’s priorities in check.

This show has a great cast that really fits each character. K.O. has a voice that’s kiddish and endearing, but it never gets annoying or grading, which is a flaw a lot of child characters have the unfortunate tendency of having. Chalk this up as another way in which K.O. is better then Steven Universe btw. Enid has a great voice for articulating a snarky give-no-fucks attitude but it’s also always great whenever she needs to be genuine. Radicles is the macho alien man so naturally he has a great voice that’s a combination of every surfer dude and college fratboy you ever heard of. He’s a pompous egotistical jerk certainly but he’s several times more endearing then characters of his archetype because he’s shown to not be completely heartless or needlessly cruel to people close to him. Mr. Gar is great and more often then not gets the funniest lines in the show. Carol is the sweetest most charismatic badass mom in all of cartoon history and I gush whenever she and K.O interact. All the supporting characters do great, there isn’t a single voice in the show I find unbearable. Also this show consistently gets awesome celebrity voices like Keith David, and, more notably, the dude who says “INCONCEIVABLE!” in The Princess Bride.

Sound Design

Not a whole lot to say here other then it’s definitely serviceable. They sneak in some appropriate cartoon sound effects in there. The sound effects for the fight scenes like the crashing and exploding are pretty good. The intro song is fucking amazing. Like literally, I can watch the intro to this show over and over and be consistently entertained, it’s great. That’s the true sign of a promising show; when you can always sit through the intro and not get tired of it.

Art Design

I’ve already touched upon this point in the animation section, but as I mentioned before the art style is very minimal at times. But that’s totally fine. It acts in the shows favor more often then not because it gives the animators freedom to put their best work in the places that matter. Plus the character designs are great and memorable, they cover the bases for character design 101. You can tell who each character is in silhouette. Their inspirations are pretty plain to see like K.O. is so obviously modeled after headband clad fighting dudes like Street Fighter or Double Dragon. Enid is so obviously a Naruto inspired character. Radicles is probably some alien marvel character, idk. Point being, everyone is distinct and they communicate their personalities through how they look. You know everything you need to know about K.O. through a single picture of him.

*fun fact: K.O’s character design was the inspiration for the design of Ruby in Steven Universe.

O.K.K.O: Let’s Be Heroes is everything I hoped it would be. It’s got a lot of heart, great surreal humor, intense and well choreographed action, great memorable characters and overall just leaves me with a simultaneously light/pumped up heart and a smile. The only thing I can really think of that’s wrong with it is it’s weird editing choices and select moments where cutting corners in animation was obvious, but that’s pretty small fry issues. I can’t wait to watch more.

anonymous asked:

can you share some favorite larry fics? sorry if youve answered this before xx

I have answered this before but I literally never ever get tired of talking about my favorite stories!!!! Here are some of them in no particular order.

1. My all time favorite story ever is Wild and Unruly by @gloriaandrews and @100percentsassy, though literally every single thing they write, together or apart, is amazing and on my favorites list. I love Wild and Unruly most though probably because I’ve worked on dances before and am a massive horse person and Dolly Parton fan and can’t believe a story exists where Harry serenades his cow named Jolene with Beyonce because like…that’s what the inside of my heart looks like all the time??? Also it’s just so real and romantic and I fucking love every second of it.

2. Hush. by @wankerville is one of my favorite works of all time and space, too. It was one of the first fics I read in the fandom, and it stuck with me so intensely and so powerfully, like…I really feel this story so close to my heart, on such a profound level. I remember the first time read it at work and I just wept and got choked up the whole time, eyes just burning for hours. Once I finished it I felt this insane comforting warmth wash over me, like all the trauma I experienced in high school being in love with a girl who suffered from debilitating internalized homophobia had somehow been soothed or dislodged. There’s something so intimate and tender and soft about her characters, but also about just the way she writes, and it really moves me in a way I can’t accurately describe? I don’t know I just love it. I love the way she choose not to write technically perfect, and instead invents words of breaks rules to convey a feeing or tone which exists  beyond the constraints of technicality. It’s so inspired. Like, I often talk about how fan fiction as a genre is inherently reparative and restorative for queer individuals, and when I talk about that, the careful love with which @wankerville writes is exactly what I mean.

3. My heart is breathing for this moment in time  by usedtothebeach, otherwise known as the Time Travellers Wife AU is another favorite of mine…it’s so fucking gut-wrenching and painful and REAL, and it’s SUCH a clever play on canon that I legit almost forget Louis isn’t a time traveler sometimes?! As a canon writer I just really admire how she wove the real story into her universe, it’s absolutely masterful and aside from it being well-crafted, it’s just so emotional and evocative and makes me FEEL SO MUCH. Like wow Harry pines so hard for so long and it’s so aching and ugh. I just love it, even though I hardly ever reread it because it fucking devastates me.

4. we can take the long way home by @eleadore is one of my all time favorite stories, which is crazy because it’s literally about fertility kink and I hate mpreg and ABO as a general rule? It is seriously one of the sexiest, most intimate, most intense reads off my fucking life though, and I don’t say that lightly. I reread it ALL the time. I actually had a really really hard time choosing one of @eleadore‘s fics because every single one of them is scorchingly hot and very high on my rereading list, but the fact that this is one of the hottest stories ever and it specifically deals with a kink I usually won’t touch with a ten foot pole is a huge testament to how amazing it is. so. Honestly though, read everything she’s ever written though…her TXF fic is fucking remarkable and so is her cabin in the woods fic and the one where they play truth or dare by the pool? Help.

5. Fuck, so @mediaville is another author I love every single thing from, but again I’m gonna pick a favorite based on the fact it has things I usually don’t dig but I’m still obsessed with it and say One Day to Believe In You. As you all know I lOVE canon fic but I tend to have a pretty strict window in the timeline where I can believably imagine them getting together….like basically anything after week two of TXF I’m like “this is canon compliant but not CANON” and have so suspend disbelief lmao. This story features a SUPER late tension break, and it still manages to be so fucking amazingly hot and believable and the confession scene leading up to the sex? Holy shit it’s hot. Like too hot to think about in public. Anyway I know you asked for larry fic but @mediaville also cowrote an AMAZING bressie fic with balefully that’s FIRE if you’re into that sort of thing.

6. I also absolutely love To the Ends of the Earth by  @alienproof, it was one of the first canon fics I read where everything seemed really real? I also love the remote cabin love confession trope and I think it cab be a hard one to pull off. I love the tension in this story and the masturbation scene and that Harry has a cat named Neon and spends time making food for his middle aged neighbors…it just seems like a very true and tender hiatus characterization of them. And the sex scenes? Damn.

7. I sort of feel like @mizzwilde personally wrote Young and Beautiful for me, even though she has no idea who I am, lol. I am just such a sucker for bratty private school boys doing drugs until they fall apart, and Velvet Goldmine is my all time favorite movie…fuck. it’s just so tailored to my interests that I don’t even mind that it’s 100k build with no smut lmao. It’s just a beautifully written dramatic luxurious story and everything about it is absurd and wonderful in the best way.

8. I adore everything @loadedgunn has written (her sex scenes changed my life?) but my favorite is May We Stay Lost on Our Way Home, otherwise known as the fairy fic. Again…as a general rule, I hATE fantasy fic or stuff with magic/supernatural elements in it, but this story is so unbelievably sweet and hot and funny and real that it transcends it’s genre. I love every second of it and Louis LITERALLY HAS WINGS? Like it’s just such a gloriously written fairytale, but still manages to be distinctly Harry and Louis, which is one of my favorite things about this author: her AUs manage to be SO true to their canon characterizations that it almost feels like reading canon fic. There are parts of this story it that really touch and move me, and then it also has one of my all time favorite sex scenes in it, and then this fucking scene where like…Louis uses root bondage to hold down Harry while he magically tattoos him and the sadist/tattoo artist in me LIVES FOR IT. Basically, this fic has everything and I fucking love it.

God this was so hard, I keep thinking of more I love! I’m gonna leave it at this though, since most of my other favorite stories are by these authors, who are all phenomenal.

Third P.O.V

Down on earth, it was never like this. Calm and quiet. When the one-hundred came here to this planet, some knew, or had at least suspected dangers from the second they got here they were always moving. Always paranoid. Never really truly sleeping well at night. You really couldn’t on earth. With the grounders lurking at every corner, not one person slept with an easy mind or an easy conscious. But today, today was the day everything would be absolutely calm, tranquil.

With the grounders united with Skikru, things had settled down greatly. Everything had been very quiet that morning. The usual birds sang their sweet lighthearted tune but there was no ruckus no fighting loud remarks. No jostling or screams. No tension. Everyone that morning, including Bellamy Blake and his gorgeous girlfriend, (Y/n) (Y/L/N). The couple slept soundly for the first time in a long time. Their arms, legs and other limbs tangled within one another.

Bellamy was the first of the two to wake. And when he did, he wasn’t surprised to see his beautiful girlfriend sleeping soundly below him. Bellamy had never taken the time to really truly look at her. If he thought she was beautiful before, he was in pure awe now. He loved the way her hair fell onto her face. For once, her body was in ease, something that was very rare on earth. With his long calloused hand, he ran his thumb across her cheeks, smiling to himself. How’d he get so god damn lucky to have her?

That morning, he just sat there. Not entirely sure how long, but that didn’t matter to him. It could have been minutes or hours but he felt free, alive with her wrapped in his arms. The second she woke from her slumber, her gorgeous eyes met her lovers, Bellamy’s. They smiled at one another, both sleepy from having just awoken. When he speaks, his voice is hoarse and ruff. “Good-morning, sweetheart.” (Y/n) sighs happily, taking in the scene laid before her. “Good-morning, babe. How’d you sleep?”

They continue casual conversation, something they weren’t able to really do before. With everything around them, they were never stopping, never taking any time to really talk, let alone see the amazing necessities that were right in front of them. This had to have been the longest conversation the two of them had ever had. For the first time, everything around them was calm and quiet. Nobody bothered their tent, nobody died, nobody attack. It was perfect. (Y/n) got up to slip on one of Bellamy’s sweatshirts before plopping back down on the bed, he was transfixed on her smile.

In that moment, he wanted her to really know how much she’d meant to him. His mouth and mind working together in perfect harmony. “I love you so much, ya know that. I love that smile of yours. The amount of times I’ve walked into my tent, or anything room for that matter, whatever mood I was in, your smile and your presence made me feel whole. You made me feel wanted. You’ve always accepted me as who I was. No matter how much I might have been a righteous pain in the ass, you never cease to see the good in me when I don’t see it.

You have always taken care of me, and I love you so much for that. What bothers me though, is that you don’t even see how perfect you really are to me. The way your eyes light up when you talk about something you love or enjoy. The way your hair falls and shapes your gorgeous face. Let’s not even mention the body. Your body is built like a goddess, even Aphrodite would be jealous. Sometimes I can’t even sit still when I look at you. Knowing that my girlfriend looks that good all the time, and is mine, makes me so fucking happy. God, and your sense of humor. Even when I’m in the shittiest of moods, you always have a way of making me smile.

The jokes you make are so corny and stupid sometimes but they are absolutely hilarious to me. You are so kind to everybody, no matter what their past was. You are so sassy and sarcastic, I feel like I have to be vigilant all the time. Like I’m always on my toes, prepared for whatever comes out of your mouth. And your lips.. I could kiss them all day and never ever get tired of the way you look. With or without makeup, you look like a queen. I have never been so in love like this. I am willing to cross mountains for you, willing to climb any tower. I would sacrifice anything for you. Because I love you.”

When he finishes, (Y/n) doesn’t say anything for a second. Totally shocked by his romantic outburst. Now perched on her legs, she grins down at the pillow in front of her before saying softly. “I love your eyes and your hair. Many people think that brown eyes aren’t beautiful. But I think they’re wrong. Each pair of eyes tells a story. And yours, Bellamy Blake, is one I’m very happy to be apart of. When you first looked at me with those big chocolate brown eyes, I swore I was going to faint. And your hair, though it is always messy, I love running my fingers through it.

I love how strong you are. I love that you can take more shit than anyone would have predicted. And though you like to cover up your emotions, I am so glad you’ve opened up to me. I want to cherish and love you forever. I love your sarcastic humor and constant sass. You’re hilarious to talk to. I love your loyalty. The mere fact that, when you assign yourself a cause, you stick to it. You always protect the ones you loved, even if there’s the potential of being in danger. I love that you take risks, which can be sloppy. But that makes you you. I know you think that from a young age, nobody would love you and cherish you.

But I do. I love your body and your soul. I tell you everyday that you were built like a god. You are so handsome and kindhearted. You’re built and chizzled to complete perfection in my eyes. Every time I look at you, I have to take a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I think, ‘there is no way, this gorgeous looking man, is real.’ But here you are, standing right in front of me. And though girls eye you like a piece of meat, you aren’t. You are an amazing man, I am willing to do anything for. I trust you with my heart and would never lie to you. I want to be with you until we grow old and cherish the ground you walk on. I adore you.”

When she finishes, Bellamy launches himself onto her. Kissing her face and neck, she giggles loudly. A small action that Bellamy adored. “I love you, so much.” He whispers against her ear. Grinning, she kisses him slowly before muttering. “I love you too.”

(I hope you liked it!!)

Reveling in Richonne

#63: The Everything!! (7x12)

Alright, so before I reflect on every blissful moment of 7x12, I thought I’d give just a little intro about the overall episode. *extra* But you can’t not turn up for the episode dedicated to the GOAT TV couple. Like legit this is me now that we’ve arrived at the Richonne episode of season seven.

First; let me state the obvious by saying this episode is everything. 🙌🏾🎉

It’s interesting cuz, as I wrote bullet points for all the Richonne moments I wanted to comment on, I’d separate them by episode and the episode that had the second most moments had a total of 11. “Say Yes” has more than double that lol.

We were beyond blessed, y’all. It was 100% a Richonne honeymoon!! 😭🎉👏🏽🙌🏾👌🏽😊😋

I had briefly heard over the winter that 7x12 was going to be really Richonne heavy and I was so here for it. It’s funny cuz I had gotten a little weary of bottle episodes but then I heard this episode would essentially be a Richonne bottle and I was like “Richonne bottle? Those two words sound great together” lol. 👌🏽😊😋

It’s sweet that the OG Richonne episode, “Clear”, was 3x12, and this Richonne love letter, “Say Yes”, was 7x12. We’ve been watching Rick and Michonne fall in love for five seasons and they just keep getting better.

Plus, in 3x12, Rick and Michonne go out to look for weapons in order to fight someone trying to oppress them and in 7x12 they go out to…look for weapons in order to fight someone trying to oppress them.

Only difference is now they have a whole lot more than “common interests” and they’re fully aware that they’re soul mates this time around. 🙌🏾 It all just feels so full circle and it’s beautiful. 😭

The reason I said my world would get a whole lot bigger in 7B is because it would be after this episode that I could no longer take feeling like I was the only one who adored Richonne and rejoiced over their every scene.

I had to know if I wasn’t alone and so, after this episode, I finally found out just how many people also love and appreciate this amazing couple. It’s cool cuz I really enjoy general TWD discussion but I wanted more deep thoughtful Richonne analysis lol and there’s so much of that out there. I had no idea!

When I tell you, learning that what I was, was called being a “shipper" and “Richonne trash”, it felt like a stinking diagnosis. 😂 I finally had a name for what I was and it was low key liberating lol.

Like I was starting to feel crazy before 7x12 cuz of how much I loved to analyze and think about R&M’s healthy beautiful relationship and this let me know, not only am I not crazy, but I’m not alone and there are tons of people who adore this TV couple just as much, if not more than me. We’re def kindred spirits, y’all.

All the great insights and analysis people have shared about this couple from the beginning to now is wonderful. It made me love and understand Richonne more than ever before. 👏🏽

It was amazing to hear people’s thoughts about R&M’s scenes and relationship pre and post canon and it just further confirmed to me that Richonne truly is something captivating and something special.

I know so many people have shared amazing takes and insight on the wonderful love letter to Richonne that is “Say Yes” and so hopefully you’ll enjoy my two cents as well.

7x12 really puts you through a roller coaster of emotions. Like it makes me laugh, cry (internally lol), and celebrate cuz this episode gave us so so much. It never gets old and it’s such a testament to why Richonne is one of a kind. 👌🏽😊

So yeah, just thought I’d give this intro before I break down all my thoughts on this special landmark episode that changed the game for Richonne and me. 😋 I said it before, I’ll say it again, in 7x12 we were blessed because…

Nyerus’ Victuuri Fic Rec List

These are in no particular order, really, just a list of my fave Victuuri fics—some of which I think a little less well known (but idk). I’ve been sitting on this for SO LONG that some of the “lesser known” ones are huge now hahaha! I’ll probably make a page for this or something later.

I pulled the “genres” mostly from the tags, but basically winged it based on what felt right. Most fics rated as “Explicit” in this list have smut in them so keep that in mind, but I’ve made special annotations as need be. I’ve also mentioned if there are any significant side pairings.

I’ve added mini-reviews (kinda) as well, which are just my personal thoughts on a fic without getting too spoilery, but you can feel free to skip them.

Current count:

AU: 21

(Quite long, so under a cut).

What are your favorite web series? I just started finished Poe Party and I need more!!!!!!

Ooooh my dear you have opened a Pandora’s box of webseries fangirling.

So because Poe Party’s cinematically shot, I’ll start with a few of those:

(Mostly) Cinematic Webseries

Firstly if you haven’t seen it, Shipwrecked’s previous series “Kissing in the Rain” is very sweet, just about 2 sets of actors who always end up playing romantic leads (usually in literary adaptations) and how different their relationships off-camera are. . Although it’s lots of mini-adaptations of pieces of writing she likes rather than a running narative, I also really like Yulin Kuang (1/3 of Shipwrecked)’s series “I Didn’t Write This”, it’s so pretty.

is about a misfit group of American College kids who basically start their own pirate radio channel and it’s adorable and funny:

(And also this creative/production group generally have the BEST bts videos, almost as fun to watch as the actual series.). By the same team there’s

Pantheon University ,

which is a series of interlocking stories all based on modernisations of different myths about gods in the Greek Pantheon. And every episode is also really stylistically different which is cool, there’s even a musical episode :)

Bright Summer Night isn’t my favourite series by The Candle Wasters but it has moments of pure genius, it’s a modernisation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream set at a New Zealand house party.

The Vault is more of a thriller-type series with lots of cool twists where you’re constantly trying to work out what’s going on. It’s based around the idea of a reality show where college students are all trapped in a vault of rooms trying to solve this huge puzzle together but then things start going wrong and no one’s sure whether it’s part of the game. I personally wasn’t thrilled with the ending but it’s still a great ride. Trigger Warning for scenes suggesting suicide.

Couple-ish is a comedy-drama where Dee is a non binary person whose sister convinces them to pretend to be in a relationship with her crush Rachel to stop her getting deported but Dee’s also just got a new boyfriend and it all snowballs. There’s some vlog-style videos too because that’s the main way Rachel and Dee stage their fake dating to the world. It’s pretty excellent.

Titus and Dronicus is really short but it’s about a duo of incompetent detectives trying to solve the case of Hamlet and it’s hilarious.

All’s Fair Play basically about an engagement party that goes horribly wrong and also every character is based on a Shakespeare character. Definitely gets better as it goes but it’s not that long really anyway.

Webseries about Famous Writers

The Writing Majors is vlog-style and also one of my all time favourite series. It’s basically about if Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde and Emily Dickenson were all modern day college students who shared a flat and it’s really sincere and lovely.

Words with Wilde is another vlog-style series, this time about the life of Australian teenage Oscar Wilde (Isn’t he popular)

Blank Verse I haven’t personally seen this one but I know it’s about modern versions of renaissance writers

A few more of my all-time favourites

The Autobiography of Jane Eyre is a vlog-style modernisation of Jane Eyre, revolutionised vlog-style series and beliefs about the budget and resources you needed to make one when it came out and just really beautifully told, probably my favourite ever webseries.

Nothing Much to Do is based on Much Ado about Nothing, its sequel Lovely Little Losers is based off Love Labours Lost, both made by a group of young women in New Zealand about a group of late school/early university kids in Nnew Zealand, both vlog-style and warm and inventive and excellent. They are why Jane Eyre is only “probably” my favourite ever webseries.

From Mansfield with Love is a modernisation of Mansfield Park and their take on “Frankie” Price especially is truly amazing. It’s also one of the relatively few british literary vlogseries. . (It is also super long.) Don’t want to be too overdramatic but these 3 lots of series in combination at least helped get me through a lot of bad times, at most possibly saved my life, so they’re pretty special and brilliant.

The Misselthwaite Archives is one I helped to develop and write a bit, it’s gorgeously shot and snarky and sad and hopeful and concise. part vlog style, part cinematic, path other styles.

Currently Airing

If you want something new to follow along with…

The Better Strangers is technically a sequel series but watching the first one isn’t mandatory and I think the crew really hit their stride with this one. Vlog-style loose modernisation of As You Like It, very funny.

The Adventures of Serena Berg is a modernisation of Cyrano de Bergerac. Again, snarky and sad and great fun. Also the first literary webseries I’ve seen with a trans woman protag which is cool

The Cate Morland Chronicles cute modernisation of Northanger Abbey where Cate is like a fandom journalist (There’s also a previous vlog-style adaptation of Northanger Abbey which I probably prefer, Northbound  but I just love that there’s 2 to pick fro. )

Project Green Gables A vlog-style modernisation of Anne of Green Gables that constantly makes excellent adaptation choices (For example Anne’s black and buys dodgy hair relaxer instead of green hair dye.) very charming, currently airing it’s second season . Again, there’s a previous, more sticking-to-the-source-text adaptation called Green Gables Fables that finished a few months back and is adorable.

I haven’t managed to catch The Uncanny Upshurs yet but that started a few days ago, promises to have magic and drama and has a great team behind it

Mina Murray’s Journal finished like last week? It’s quite a clever Dracula modernisation with great production value.

There’s also the series I created (With a lot of collaboration and help with amazing people) Away from it All, which is a vlog-styleish modernisation of Far from the Madding Crowd and we’re releasing our 6th episode this Thursday :)

This got shorter as it went because I really should have gone to bed an hour ago xD anyway, hope that helps!! Wishing you good fortune on your webseries journey  x

anonymous asked:

Do you have any good Merlin fanfictions you can rec? Merthur or otherwise?

I’ve been putting off this question ONLY BECAUSE… I had to go through several fanfic rec lists that I’ve followed before to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. I wish I was more organized! I should really start my own reclist but unfortunately my list is going to be fairly short given that I’m an incredibly slow reader as it is and I usually go for 100k epics… so when I DO read, those sorts of stories hold my attention for quite awhile.

Everything’s Merthur and I’m not apologizing for it. I wouldn’t mind reading some Merdred and Mergana though! I’m always open for recommendations for any pairing, really.

  • We Are All Diamonds by footloose  :  This was one of my first Merthur fanfics and by far still one of my all time favorites. This one was recommended to me by a good friend of mine. Just— everything footloose does… and I mean everything— they have a way with words and painting a scene and you can tell research is put behind all of their works. The word count is high but the writing captures you immediately and the buildup between Arthur’s and Merlin’s relationship is perfect. All time favorite right here. 10/10 would read again.

  • Tributes by TheAvalonian  :  This is one of those The Hunger Games / Merlin crossovers. I read this in one night and it’s just over 80k words long. Um. It’s really good, okay? Technically a romance but you know, it really does concentrate a bit more on the games if I remember correctly. I mean, there are cameras and they’re well aware of that so if you’re looking for smut recs, don’t go here. But recs with plot? Yes.

  • The Sorcerer and the King by winterhill  :  This was, I think, quite literally the second fanfic I ever read in the Merlin fandom. THIS STORY IS SICK. It’s a great canon-divergent AU if that’s what you’re into— and I could certainly use more of those. Because while I like modern verses, it’s the canon-setting AU’s that are my favorite and this story, while it borders a bit on the uncomfortable with certain aspects, was definitely worth the read. Excellent plot and the scenes with magic were simply stunning.

  • Overboard by shiny-starlight  :  Takes place in a modern setting— one of those, Merlin and Arthur meet and can’t stand each other at first. This one has a REALLY fun twist to it though and I have every intention of reading this again.

  • Game, Set, Match by ingberry  :  A bit shorter than what I’m used to reading— this was adorable. And Merlin’s jokes were the absolute best part of this, in my honest opinion. The sexual tension was also pretty awesome.

  • Stars Above, Stones Below by Destina  :  Funny story with this— I actually haven’t finished reading it yet. I have several fanfics that are ‘slowly in progress of being read’ and this has been sitting in my tabs for several months now because I keep jumping around. I do that a lot with stories, actually, so that by no means is to be taken as this story is anything less than absolutely amazing. It makes it much more than that, because USUALLY I won’t recommend a fanfic I haven’t finished all the way through. I just— I love how they handled Merlin’s magic reveal. Love love love love love.

  • Shelter from the Storm by scatterglory  :  One-shot, shorter than what I usually read, but so incredibly unique and sad and bittersweet. It has a happy ending though, no worries. UGH, IT WAS SO GOOD THOUGH.

So those are all the stories that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and would read again… now let’s talk about my favorite authors who have countless stories.

  • Hisa-Ai  :  This author’s an avid Merthur writer and omfgggg all her stories (or the ones I’ve had the chance to read) have that sweet undertone that I generally LOVE to read in one-shots. For the fluffy ones at least— I’ve yet to read any of her angst but it’s coming. But that lighthearted interaction is my favorite— the banter is the best and I just love how she portrays Merlin and Arthur’s chemistry. My favorites so far have been I Think You Dropped Something (You Bought Roses) (GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD), Something In the Air, Your Seat, and Worth the Wait. There’s still soooo much more I want to read by her. <3

  • neuroticnick  :  I’m not gonna like, this writer is my smut central when I want to read REALLY GOOD SMUT but still have an amazing drawn out plot. OMFG, THEY HAVE WRITTEN SO MUCH. And here’s the thing— it’s all so very different. Nine times out of ten, I’ve found Merlin to be the more dominant partner and I like that a lot because people tend to write it the other way. But— gosh, they switch up so many characteristics but they make it work. It’s really amazing. You’ve gotta check them out. Some HAVE been my cup of tea while others were more ehhhh, especially the PWP’s but that’s what I love about neuroticnick. I think there’s something for everyone. My favorites include My Boy Builds Cars, You’re the Voice (omfg, read it. Read it. Do yourself a favor.), and I Only Wanna Dance With You.

Alright. Now let’s talk about Loaded March.

It’s, again, by footloose. Same author as with We Are All Diamonds mentioned above. I’ve been slowly following this series since… April? May? Either way— I’m on the thirteenth installment now out of fourteen. The series is still ongoing. The word count is, um, massive.

It is so worth the read.

Basically— I remember looking at the summary for this and thinking ‘military fic? no thanks’. Like, that’s not something I would generally read. But when a friend recommended it later, I said, alright. Let’s give it a shot. The first book— once you get used to all the military lingo (it’s probably not as bad as I’m making it out to be), the story really took off. Merlin and Arthur meeting for the first time is always a favorite of mine in modern fics and it did not disappoint. The sexual tension is excruciating as the series goes on and it is one of the slowest relationship buildups ever in the history of ever, which also really tickles my fancy. If you’re looking for a quick Merthur hookup, this is not the story series for you. BUT— if you want something epic, this is it. Look no further. IT IS HERE.

The characters are very three-dimensional. Not just Merlin and Arthur, but you get a look at characters like Will, Freya, Hunith, Gwaine, Kay (who’s my favorite of the team), Bohrs, Mordred, Aredian— just… I cannot rave enough about this series and how footloose brings all these characters so vividly to life. All of them. The whole plot is about the fight against magic— which inevitably everyone has to learn isn’t really a fight against magic but a fight against power because once they learn of Merlin’s magic— it’s not about the magic itself but how it’s used.

It’s full of so many twists and turns. I promise, despite it’s length, it doesn’t drag. There is a point to everything. So much adventure, conspiracy, undercover things, MAGIC, hidden plots, and everything eventually connects and comes together. Every installment has that huge building climax towards the end that makes you want to cancel all your plans for the day and just sit at home and get through it. Just. Yeah. 10/10 recommend. If you’re alright with buckling in for a long series, you should definitely give it a go.

I wrote a lot for that— but to be fair, that’s like, a review for 13 books I’ve read, okay? XD

Well would you look at that : it’s your local Jordan here with a half-assed banner to celebrate a pretty damn cool milestone ? ! I’ll keep this short and sweet so I don’t go too PDA on y’all, but dear god - 400 followers in what ? 2 months ? Holy shit ! I don’t think I can say just how much I love the BN.HA fandom because honestly… you guys have reminded me just what it was the dragged me into roleplaying to begin with. I haven’t had so much fun on a blog in actual years and now suddenly I’m bombarded with shitty memes and interesting plots and I just can’t thank you guys enough !

If I had the time to sit down and tag the entire BN.HA fandom I would - all of you guys have made this great for me - but dudes I’m too impatient for that shit, but keep that in mind if you’re not included. Canon characters and OCs alike, you’re all amazing to me.

On Chloe

P.S.: They’re just kids. Let them live.

Today someone brought up two very valid points on @clabrice‘s post about Chloe and the vitriolic hatred that the fandom seems to have for her. The first was that most people seem to see their own bully reflected in her. The second is that, like Umbridge from Harry Potter, she’s more relatable to hate than a faraway magical villain like Hawkmoth or Voldemort.

For the most part, I understand this. However, I think there’s a definite part of this that we’re not talking about, and that has to do with two other very major issues I have seen in the ML fandom, both related to the tendency that adults have to project onto teenagers/teenage characters.

Avengers Recs: Stony and others

Helloo, I am back! School kicked my ass this semester, but I am done now and taking a break (then, job hunting! GAH. I need to take my mind off of real life, so I have been catching up on Avengers fandom since I saw AOU. I also have a bunch of cherik in my queue to read *_* Here are a few fics that I have read and liked from the Avengers fandom!)

I’ll Keep You Safe Here With Me. - sara_holmes (R |Post-CATWS |Winterhawk |Hurt/Comfort |Protective!Bucky |Pining |Action |PTSD)
Yes, Clint is avoiding the other Avengers. No, he does not want to go back to New York. But then again, he didn’t exactly want to be kidnapped  by the Winter Soldier either. Really, he just wants to go back to bed. Bea’s comment:  This is the fic that got me into Bucky/Clint. It is epic (100K+ of awesomeness! Bucky kidnaps Clint in order to find out more about Steve but then Hydra shows up, there are deep, emotional issues (they are both so fucked up) but then they become friends and gah, it’s so so so good. I couldn’t stop reading it! I love how sara writes Clint! And Bucky! So so good.

Clint Barton’s Super Secret Snipers’ Club - sara_holmes (PG-13 |WIP |Bucky/Clint |PTSD |Hurt/Comfort |Friendship |Side pairing: Tony/Steve)
Clint Barton’s Super Secret Snipers’ Club. (Invitation and pending   mental health evaluation required.) “When Steve brings Bucky back to the  tower for the first time, Clint’s first thought is that Tony Stark’s   pride and joy is quickly becoming a less of a very tall and expensive   ‘fuck you’ in the faces of investors who don’t believe in   self-sustaining energy, and more of a superhero rehabilitation center.” Bea’s comment: This is WIP but so far, I am in love! Clint and Bucky’s friendship is awesome, and they both have issues which makes it easier for them to bond and become friends. Side pairing is Steve/Tony! <3

❤❤❤For the Wheel’s Still in Spin - Arukou  (NC-17 |Pre-Avengers |Iron Man 3| Post-CATWS |Slow-build |Missing scenes |Hurt!Steve |Steve-centric |Team Bonding |Friendship |Bottom!Steve)
Steve Rogers is a man of action, but in this brave new century, there’s no action to be had. A man without a mission, all he has to linger on are the people he let down and the lives he failed to save, and he is so very alone. Nights eat at him and days pass in a blur, and Tony Stark is the only person who seems to notice just how badly the Captain is suffering. Bea’s comment: This is my favorite Steve!centric fic. Starts with Steve waking up in the future (well, present) and how he copes. There’s also really great team bonding/friendship and Bucky! Pining! Great characterization and amazing writing, highly recommended!

Stay With Me (home is where your mind is.) - sara_holmes  (R |Hurt!Steve |Civil War |Crossover: Comic-verse |Pining!Tony   |Hurt/Comfort |Protective!Tony |HAWKEYE is a good bro |Multi-verse)
Where Steve doesn’t quite die, ends up stranded in the multiverse and   would quite like to know how the hell so many versions of himself ended up sleeping with Tony Stark. Well, that’s going to make things a tad   awkward when he gets home. Bea’s comment: This is a really great fic with both steve and tony’s point of views. Steve gets hurt and ends up in a comma and almost dies. Tony is guilty and pining. Clint is a good bro. Pining and realizations and different steves from different dimensions who have died in their own universe are stuck together in limbo. Kid!Steve is adorable. Protective!Avengers! Hurt!Steve! <3

Catch Me Through the Looking-Glass - Ylixia (NC-17 |Crossover: MCU+Marvel 616 |Established Relationship (Stony MCU) |Angry!Steve |Protective!Steve)
It’s like a recurring nightmare: Steve Rogers, trapped in a world that  is not his own, new love left behind, and nothing to keep him going but  questions. Bea’s comment: MCU!Steve and Tony are together. MCU!Steve gets stuck in 616 verse where everything is fucked up and Steve and Tony are enemies because OF LACK OF COMMUNICATION YO. Also, awesome MCU!Steve and 616!Steve confrontation.

The Better Part of What I Never Had - lyra_wing (R |Post-AOU |Protective!Tony |Angst |Pining |Friendship |Happy Ending)
Tony worries from afar – or, it sometimes takes a hex or two to help   folks figure out what they really want. This is an immediate sequel to   the events in Age of Ultron, so there are spoilers for the whole movie   in here, obviously. You have been forewarned. Bea’s comment: This is the fic I wanted to read immediately post-AOU. <3

Love among the Hydrothermal Vents - DevilDoll  (NC-17 |MCU |Canon Divergent |Comic crossover |Pretend Relationship |Pining!Steve |Humor |Misunderstandings)
In which Namor has a thing for Steve, an octopus has a thing for Tony,  and Steve and Tony eventually have a thing for each other. Bea’s comment: Really funny and there’s also pining and misunderstandings. Namor wooing Steve and Steve being adorable, exasperated and freaking out. I loved everyone’s characterization.

A Fire to be Kindled - keptein (PG-13 |Hurt!Steve |Hurt/Comfort |Miss-understandings)
It makes perfect sense, of course. The serum gave Steve the perfect body, so why wouldn’t it also give him the perfect mind? In the quietness of his own mind, Tony can admit he’s a little stung Steve didn’t tell him, but he’s not really surprised. (Or: the one where Steve is smarter than Tony, and neither of them deal well.) Bea’s comment: Where Steve is a genius, but it causes problems. hurt/comfort <3

Bond Has It Covered - sara_holmes (NC-17 |Post-Avengers |Clint is a good bro |Pining |Team Bonding |Slow build)
Tony thought they had trouble getting along when they were dealing with  a major global crisis. Apparently that had nothing on how they fell  apart when they weren’t distracted by smashing aliens. Bea’s comment: Really awesome. Once again, love everyone’s characterization and Clint is a good bro :D Every fic of Sara’s has an awesome Clint :D

Like Coming Home - missbecky (R |Crossover: Marvel 616+MCU |MCU!Steve/616!Tony |Angst |Happy Ending)
After a tragic accident, Steve is given a chance to go back in time and deliver a warning to Tony in the hope of avoiding their fate. Something’s gone wrong, though, because this is not his world he’s ended up in. And that is definitely not his Tony who’s planning to delete his own brain. Sometimes your second chance isn’t at all what you were expecting. Bea’s comment: MCU!Steve travels to the past to warn Tony about something but instead gets stuck in 616 where Tony has killed Steve in Civil War. I kind of cried a little when it ended but because of happiness. Happy ending!

Hey, I've been in the Leverage fandom for a while now, but I can't seem to see why people ship Parker/Hardison/Eliot and was wondering if you could help me?

Heyy!! I’m so sorry this took forever to post. I actually had an entire response written up and it was really long and fabulous, and then tumblr deleted the whole thing.

Long story short, I was on the Eliot/Hardison bandwagon from the start. I mean, Hardison looks at Eliot like he wants to eat him with a spoon during that scene in the pilot where Eliot beats up the security dudes. (“That’s what I do.”) and it’s pretty clear all Eliot’s growly-ness is hiding a lot of love. THEY SING A DUET TOGETHER IN LUCILLE. Hardison gets away with so much shit and all Eliot does is raise an eyebrow and growl because YOU’RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE SPENCER, YOU LIKE IT.

Then Leverage sold me on Parker/Hardison, easy. They are so cute and adorable and cuddly and I love every second of their relationship. Hardison knows what Parker wants before Parker is even close to ready to admit it and he waits. Because as much as he wants it, he only wants it if she knows it’s what she wants. And watching Parker deal with her feelings is amazing. I love her, I love him, I love them.

And the Eliot/Parker dynamic is gold. Eliot offering to kill for her in the future job, when the series makes it clear down the line that Eliot hates himself for who he used to be (his “You pull the trigger and two men die” speech to Nate is one of my favorite things). Their whole “it makes us us” conversation on the mountain. The way Eliot puts himself into her hands in the Big Bang Job- he doesn’t want to talk about his past but he would if Parker asked (it would shatter him but he would do that to himself for her); I could go on…

Not to mention my favorite bit of denial: Eliot protesting way too loudly that he doesn’t think about Hardison and Parker “like that.” (for the record, I actually made little air quotes with my fingers after I typed that)

And then season 5 happened.

I mean, Eliot flat out told Sophie his happily ever after is being with Hardison and Parker and tending to the brew pub. Parker coming to Eliot to learn about how to like things, and Eliot brushing her off right up until he actually looks at her and then he drops everything for her. THE RUNDOWN JOB had wedding vows and neck touching, and Parker/Hardison kissing while also being involved in an intense Eliot stare-off.

If you look up “heart eyes” in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Eliot Spencer gazing lovingly at Parker and Hardison while proclaiming “I don’t have to search anymore”. The second picture would be Hardison and Parker staring back at him like all their Christmases have arrived at once.

I mean, it’s so clear that they all love each other. Whether you interpret that as deep friendship or ship ship, it doesn’t really matter in the end. But that’s why I ship it.

I'm a bellarker and I actually liked clexa! It wasn't my otp, but I found it really cute. I don't want to offend your ship or make you angry in any ways with this ask, I'm just curious about your opinion: So, I follow your blog and I saw an ask saying that Bellarke becoming romantic would be not logic. Clexa became canon after the Mt Weather incident and Finn's death. Do you think that's more logical? Why did you start shipping them back then? What "convinced" you? Im just trying to understand..

Hi! You didn’t make me angry at all, don’t worry. I’m just wondering if you maybe can send me a link to this ask you’re talking about, so I have a better idea what you’re referring to?

Alright so, how do I start? Well, first of all, Clexa is the first couple I “actively shipped”, as in, I joined a fandom for the first time. And even that wasn’t really done on purpose. I joined tumblr just because I needed to scream into the void about Clexa and Lexa specifically, because no one I knew was watching the show. How did I start shipping Clexa? Honestly, it just… happened. I’m not someone who watches a show and seeks out a couple to ship, I never did that. I watch a show and enjoy certain characters and certain relationships, and sometimes they happen to be romantic relationships. For example, I LOVE Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It’s my favorite show of all time and will always be. And in that show, I fell in love with the Buffy/Angel relationship, and the romantic aspect of it. I guess now I would call myself a Buffy/Angel shipper, but I don’t really have the shipper mentality in me? Does it make sense?

Anyway, the point is I fell in love with the characters, the chemistry they had, I found their interactions captivating, I was constantly intrigued, pulled to them, the way they clicked together, I saw something that I didn’t see in other relationships etc. etc. I know this sounds like the most generic answer possible, but it’s simply the way I felt. And it’s what happened with Clexa. Except that where in BtVS it was pretty clear that Buffy and Angel were meant to have a romantic storyline too (there’s hardly any will they/won’t they), in absolutely no way I was planning to ship Clexa. Until the second part of season 2 I wasn’t really invested in any romantic relationship.

Take Bellarke. [Obviously, this is just my opinion and personal experience, it doesn’t and shouldn’t take anything away from your enjoyment of that relationship.] One thing not many know is that when the show aired and I watched the Pilot, I immediately dropped it because I hated it. I still do, I find that pilot just awful. I think by the end of it I wanted everyone to die (maybe not Wells but that’s it). I gave the show a second chance because one year later, I randomly ran into one of those “Top shows you’re not watching” lists and The 100 was there too. So I did some googling and while doing that, I also noticed that Bellarke seemed to be the main pairing fans were talking about. So I started the show again and fell in love with it and I grew to really adore Clarke and Bellamy’s relationship. But… I never saw it as romantic. I even tried to make myself like it that way, but they just never clicked for me under that aspect. This isn’t to say they don’t have chemistry. I would have to be blind or to simply lie to say the chemistry isn’t there. But I never felt it as romantic or sexual. Like… I even tried to read fanfics of them to see if maybe I was missing something. But especially after that experience, of reading romantic/sexual interactions between Clarke and Bellamy and finding them “off”, I realized they weren’t clicking for me at all in that sense.

Which brings me to Clexa. When Lexa first appeared in 2x06 I was immediately drawn to that character, I was mesmerized by her introduction. Then I saw her first interaction with Clarke, and I literally couldn’t take my eyes away from them. Every scene they had together was magnetic. When Lexa revealed her past with Costia in 2x09, she jumped into my list of favorite characters in the show. Not because it was revealed she is a lesbian (which was amazing for other reasons), but because of the implications of her story. I love complex female characters. Before that episode I was already intrigued by Lexa, she was smart, confident, strong, but that episode showed for the first time that she was fragile too. That her coldness vastly came from having suffered through unbearable pain, it was basically a defense mechanisms. This added so many layers to her, and I knew I had found a potential favorite. And as the show progressed I kept seeing more and more of that complexity: she is ruthless but doesn’t take joy in violence, she says she learned how to not feel anything but you can see that she feels so damn much, she wants peace but is willing to make harsh choices. It’s because she is so layered that she became my favorite. And then the show started developing her relationship with Clarke. Two strong, complex female leaders from two very different worlds with very different POVs on life who have to learn to work together and who slowly realize they have more in common than they thought. Both greatly wounded by their pasts but unable to stop feeling and loving. Learning from each other, respecting each other. Suffice to say, their interactions became the thing I was looking forward to the most each week. But I wasn’t really shipping them. If I have to pick a specific moment though, their scene together at the end of 2x10, seeing the way they were looking at each other, made me start thinking about how amazing a romance between these two could be. Their chemistry was just sizzling. But I thought it would never happen, because I thought Clarke was straight and that they would never put their lead character in a WLW relationship. I don’t need to say how ridiculously happy I was when they kissed and it was revealed that Clarke is bisexual. And how devastated I was about how they handled Lexa’s death.

Let’s talk about the “logic” aspect you were mentioning. I see Finn’s death as a “problem” only if we talk about Clarke, and by that I mean that she loved him and he died. The whole “Lexa forced Clarke to kill him” argument is just nonsense to me, and this post is long enough without me tackling that. So… I was actually glad that Clarke told Lexa she wasn’t ready to be with anyone in 2x14. It was too soon, and her reaction felt realistic. Her attraction towards Lexa was clearly there but it wasn’t the right time, she wasn’t ready to pursue a new relationship. Amazing. About Mt. Weather… look, I am an angst slut. I love intelligent angst, I love good conflicts and the journey to overcome them. So I was euphoric thinking about Clarke and Lexa’s journey in s3 to repair their relationship. And I’m not going to lie and say I was entirely pleased. I would have loved to see a slow reconciliation, I would have loved for the writers to have taken their time. But I get it wasn’t possible because they only had 7 episodes (I’m not going to talk about what they could have done differently because I would get pissed and this post would never end lol). They had Lexa make that monumental gesture of swearing fealty to Clarke and then they had Lexa’s journey in season 3 to be entirely about regaining Clarke’s trust and working towards peace, for all people. So, despite me craving for a slower build up to their love scene, I find that their reconciliation made sense.

I don’t know what ask you’re talking about, so I’d have to read it to have a clear idea, but I’ll try to answer anyway. I told you how I feel about Bellarke. It’s a personal opinion. I don’t see any romance or sexual chemistry there, but I do love their friendship and partnership. I’ve often said that it’s one of the core relationship of this show. I think that it’s rare to see on television a realistic, complex, well developed friendship between an attractive male and a female that also happen to be the leads of a show. It’s way rarer than any romantic pairing of that kind, and it’s one of the things I love about them. When I say that I see them as platonic, I don’t mean it as an insult. I firmly believe that platonic relationships are just as important as romantic, and one as rare as Bellamy and Clarke’s in particular. I think that a romantic storyline would take away what is special about that relationship. But apart from that, talking about “logic”. By sticking to canon, one of the reasons Bellamy did what he did in season 3 was his pain and guilt about losing Gina. Yes, the writers treated that character as nothing more than a tool to “fridge” to give Bellamy an additional justification to side with Pike, but it’s clear that their bond was real. Clarke… Clarke had to kill Finn, and lost Lexa right after their happiest moment, and had to abruptly say goodbye to her again in the CoL, right after telling her she loved her. These characters are scarred. They are in pain, they have PTSD, they are grieving. That’s why I think a new relationship (not necessarily just between Clarke and Bellamy but in general) so soon would be illogical. They need time to process the traumas they went through, their losses. They need to properly deal with them before even thinking about romantically moving on. I’m going to mention BtVS again. After her relationship with Angel ends, Buffy gets together with Riley. And you can’t say that there’s anything wrong there. He loves her, he’s a nice guy, he wants to do what’s right. But we never feel the spark that was there with Angel. And it’s done on purpose. Because Buffy truly tries to make herself feel for Riley the same things he felt for Angel, but it’s not possible.

Now, that’s not to say that Clarke should grieve forever. I’m absolutely not opposed to the concept of moving on and learning to love again. Hell, one of Lexa’s main aspects is exactly this. But I think it would be absolutely wrong to do it so quickly, and especially with one of the most interesting and rare relationships we have. And of course this doesn’t mean that I need a season of Clarke doing nothing but grieving. The pace of this show is insane, and they have HUGE problems to think about. But really, would it be a crime to have these characters be single for a season? To give them time to grow individually? To have them properly face their unresolved feelings and grief during a quiet moment? I don’t think so.

So well… this is my long long answer. It’s probably confusing as hell, but I hope this helped lol, and sorry I couldn’t keep it shorter. If you have other questions or curiosity please don’t hesitate to ask :)

.:out of wizard wheezes:.

[So I’ve been thinking about James Phelps recently wow Asher what else is new and idk I just thought I’d share?

When I first started getting involved with the Phelps fandom, I had trouble reconciling Fred with James and George with Oliver. I realised Oliver is way more outgoing and confident and James is a sweet shy little hedgehog playing the crueller twin, and I was like, ‘whoops, they got that casting wrong’. Since then I’ve totally reversed my decision on that point. For one thing, it doesn’t make sense to think that an actor can only play whatever part’s closest to his personality, but let’s ignore that for a second. Oliver, being pretty laidback, goes about George in a pretty laidback kind of way. He’s more comfortable with crowds and cameras and it translates on screen into George being looser and more relaxed. And I personally use this aspect of his performance as an explanation for George’s character: George wants everyone to be happy, no fuss, no bother, chill out, have some tea and all get along. That’s certainly not to say he’s not up for disturbing the peace in a drastic way once in a while, or making his in-group happy at someone else’s expense (say, the entirety of Slytherin house). But I think at heart he’s happiest when people are laughing with him, not when he’s just laughing at them.

Fred’s way more aggressive and high octane. So long as he’s entertained, he doesn’t much care if the peasants coughRONcough suffer. So yeah, when I first learnt to tell the Phelpses apart (which was before I ever saw the movies) I was like oh no tiny precious baby should not be Fred. But now I’m just totally in love with Fred being a little shorter and a little younger with this adorable round face whose resting expression is like·‘I’m a pumpkin pie protect me’

while inside he’s just this dEMON. And the moment this smol child opens his mouth this diabolical sassmonster comes out and you’re left like WHAT JUST HAPPENED.

{ Fig. 1: Evolution of a Sassmonster }

I’m also v glad Fred wasn’t played as a total hyena, as I was expecting him to be. James has addressed that, saying real people aren’t LOLOL HAPPY JOKES AND FUN all day every day, and so he and Oliver didn’t play Fred and George like that all the time. There’s also character development at play there. I mean, can you imagine the twins trotting into the Seven Harrys scene in DH like they trot into the Great Hall in GoF? Or Fred delivering “Have lots of experience with that, do you, Mad Eye?” in the same tone he delivers “Because it’s so pathetically dim-witted”? He turns into a businessman who’s 100% as snarky as before tbh, but in a more… I don’t want to say “mature” or “subdued” way, because neither of those words should ever be applied to Fred, but in a less loud and obnoxious way, we’ll say. Still, James is a more aggressive actor than his brother (handy direct comparison!), and with Fred there’s just this tension where you know this guy’s a class clown but he has these disconcertingly malicious tones and expressions and you don’t quite trust him not to cross some major lines. 0_o

Irrelevant to Fred and George from here on out so I’ma cut it, thus:

Q: How did the whole Lexa situation affect not maybe the shooting (as I believe it was already shot), but the engagement with fans on social media, for example, of WYNONNA EARP?

And second, how do you experience the showrunners world being a female creator and writer and any advice for - ehem, fellow, hopefully - future writers who want to bring more diversity and good writing to Television?

EA:  The Lexa situation didn’t affect the creative of WE as it WAS already shot, but it made me feel happy about certain storytelling choices we’d made. I was aware of the BYG trope, but I was impressed at how passionately that fanbase pushed it into the mainstream media and have started to demand better representation.

If you are a ‘future’ writer (hell, if you write, you can just say 'writer’ now) who wants to bring more diversity to television, you should surround yourself with diverse writers and mentors. Then if and when you’re lucky enough to be in a position of power to make change, i.e. as a showrunner, you should put your money where your mouth is and hire diversely.

Q: Did you personally choose Melanie Scofrano to be your lead lady? How was the process to find “the” Wynonna? btw she is doing a great job

EA: I did personally choose her, along with my producers, and it might be the smartest decision I ever made. She is doing an amazing job because she is a once-in-a-lifetime performer. We saw over 300 young actresses across the coast, but in the end, there was only Scrofano. And all was right in Purgatory. :)

Q: In your experience writing/producing tv as a raging feminist, what have been some elements (trope-smashing, specific plots, themes, stylistic choices etc.) for which you’ve really had to fight to be included in the final product? Have you faced any backlash or resistance as a result?

EA: I have always had to fight for the LGBT stuff. Always. Initially nobody wants the pretty girl to be a lesbian. Even if she’s been like that since I started developing her (and I usually have). Nobody thinks there’s an audience. Nobody thinks it’s a real thing. Then it is. And the audience comes because they get it. And I feel triumphant. And happy. I think also 'female’ driven storytelling is still somehow seen as less 'legitimate’ or 'prestigious’ than shows that feature a male anti-hero…in the same way almost any novel written by a female author is decreed 'chitlit’ regardless of content. So I feel like my work is often dismissed as pap regardless of critical adoration or audience success. But here I am, still making TV that I’d watch. And that smells like victory. :) That’s my raging feminist answer and I’m sticking to it.

Q: Was there originally more to the WayHaught barn scene? It seems like it begins in the middle of an interaction.

Q: What is your fav quality about Wynonna? What quality of wynonna do you personally relate to?

EA:  My fave quality about Wynonna is that even though she is such a hot mess with such a dark past and has every reason to give up and give in to simply being 'bad’, she never does. She fights and tries and cares, despite her many mistakes and flaws.  I relate to her torrid love affair with donuts. But she’s much braver than I. :)
