because there are too many women in it

anonymous asked:

Do you go for a vintage look in what you yourself like to wear (clothes/make up -wise)? And if yes, what sort of era stuff do you like? :)

I feel like the 90′s fits me the best, makeup and fashion wise. I think that it works on most women too. Lipsticks from that era really focused on nude brown’s and finding those colors are kinda hard because now, it seems like nudes are just pale pinks and it doesn’t go with my tone at all lol. All I wear are crop tops and high waist mom jeans/skirts. It’s accessible to find pieces that are 90′s inspired too. Also, there’s so many variations of 90′s style from Seattle grunge to Calvin Klein minimalism. Plus, a lazy bitch like myself loves the anti-conformist approach– this decade truly emphasized the casual chic look and it being ok to add some menswear into your wardrobe :)

people are so dismissive of realities that inconvenience them cuz they don’t wanna acknowledge how they’re hurting people

It is so straight up disturbing to see so many people just laugh at women’s trauma, claim it isn’t real, or worse claim that it is real and just say out loud that they do not care about what situations women are in. Like truly wild shit. Often other women too!

The Road Women Marched On This Weekend Was Paved By Black Resistance
This march’s success was made possible by the labour of generations of protesting black bodies.
By Bim Adewunmi

I saw so many black women at the Women’s March and each one I spoke to gave me a variant of the same answer: they were here because they had to be. To have sat it out would’ve been to cede to a feminist movement that was all too willing to discard them, when they had been the silent workhorses of the collective for so long. It was evident in the number of placards and signs I saw, happily quoting from the rich and grand tradition of black feminist theory and thought: Angela Davis, a speaker at the march, popped up often via her words, as did Maya Angelou. The most quoted was Audre Lorde, whose abundant written legacy is a treasure trove of march-friendly quotables.

It was about representation, a group of African women told me. They were here, representatives of African women a continent away from this march, each with their own feminist histories, currently living their own feminist realities. This is for us too, all the black women I spoke to were saying. Putting ourselves back into the narrative, where we have always been. So I approached multi-generational groups of black women and asked to take their photo, and I looked out for groups of multiracial teenage girls, eyes wide and almost overwhelmed by the crowd. We are physical manifestations of our parents’ dreams, and I saw so many parents with a proud gleam in their eyes on Saturday afternoon.

The Dixie Chicks performing at the CMAs tonight with Beyoncé has got to be one of the greatest things I’ve witnessed this year. Not only were they performing, “Daddy Lessons,” a song that many right wing conservative country fans refused to acknowledge as one that fit into their genre, but they mixed in the Chicks’ song, “Long Time Gone,” which is just too perfect because this was their first return to the CMAs stage since they were effectively banned from country radio for speaking out against the Iraq war almost 14 years ago. So theres all that history and then these four outspoken, talented, strong women come perform together in the holy land of country music and tear the fucking place up. There were probably so many people pissed off by this performance, which makes it even more amazing that it even happened, and then theres Faith Hill just singing along in the front row. This whole thing gives me life.

Some unemployed men are turning down jobs because they’re too girly

  • The results are in: Masculinity may be even more fragile than we thought.
  • According to a recent New York Times story analyzing Bureau of Labor Statistics data, some unemployed men are choosing to stay that way in order to avoid a worse fate — emasculation.
  • Yes, men are so wed to their gender identity that many of them are refusing fast-growing jobs as health aides and assistants because they’re seen as women’s work.
  • But there’s another huge — and perhaps more revelatory — deterrent for men who might otherwise consider traditionally feminine work:
  • These positions usually pay significantly less, probably precisely because they’ve always been filled by women. Read more

You know what upsets me most is that kids are going see Trump and the way he acts and believe that it’s ok to be like that. It’s ok to harass women, it’s ok to be racist, it’s ok to be misogynistic, it’s ok to be homophobic, It’s ok to be transphobic because look look at that guy. He did it and look at where he is now. Look at where he stands today, a nation at his feet. This isn’t ok. Not everyone has that luxury of walking down the street without being judged, hated or worse abused.

Men consistently say they don’t want to hurt a woman’s feelings but they do it in ways that seem so ridiculous, uncaring, and avoidable. Many men project that having a relationship is a bad thing – that all women are a hassle or take up too much time because they have been in relationships with unhealthy women in the past. It’s not fair to those of us who are healthy, self-sufficient, independent, creative, and understanding. I’m not your ex-girlfriend or your ex-wife. My intention in partnership is to both thrive and be more successful together than we are apart. Not to weigh anyone down. Myself included.

Truth.

They said the reason Putin so heavily influenced the 2016 election was because he had a vendetta against Hillary due to her time as Secretary of State. Putin found Hillary to be ruthless, effective, intelligent, and far more aggressive than Obama. Putin was scared of Hillary. Too bad so many Americans find these qualities in women to be a turn-off [even far-left liberals]. There’s a reason they said Hillary ran the White House in the ‘90s. And we had a friggin’ surplus back then!! God damn America.

I’m gonna cry if Trump really becomes our president. Why? Because he can and will ruin the lives of many people; minorities, LGBT+, women, and really anyone of another race/religion. I’m not scared for myself, i’m scared for others.

The Signs as Types of Fairies pt. 4 (Water)

Cancer - Dryad
Dryads are female nature fairies who live in forests and trees, preferably oak trees. They are very shy and afraid of getting too far away from their inhabited tree. Every tree is connected to the Dryad’s spirit  which is why some trees appear creepy while others look peaceful. When the tree dies, the fairy will die with it. Dryads are very playful and non-violent which is why you will never see them hurting animals or humans.

Scorpio - Adhene (Manx Fairy, Cloanny Moyrn Fairy)
In many folklore or legends, Adhenes are fallen angels, banned from heaven but too good for hell. They are very shy, usually female fairies who love to play in waterfalls or dance on mountain tops. They look beautiful, even angelic but behave very mischievous when it comes to humans, stealing women and children when they wish. But they could never truly hurt someone because it is believed that their truest intentions are purely good.

Pisces - Asrai
Asrais are aquatic fairies that can either look like beautiful young maidens or children. In fact, they are hundreds of years old but only few humans will ever see them because they are very shy and constantly afraid of being captured. If an Asrai is caught or touches the sunlight, it will die, melting off into a pool of water. It seldom happens that people cross paths with this creatures but if they are touched by Asrais, they will forever have a body part colder than the rest of their bodies.

i am obsessed with the reoccurring use of ‘the girl in the dress’ in ‘dear john’, and i have always thought it was such a clever use of language. the way she is being described by only two identifying features, being a ‘girl’ and wearing ‘a dress’ suggests the purely sexualised way that ‘john’ sees the narrator, and draws on sexist stereotypes  by suggesting that he sees her as weak and defenseless because she is so ‘typically’ feminine. the lack of names and descriptions also means that this could be any one of the ‘long list of traitors’ in ‘john’s’ life crying the whole way home, which shows how they are interchangeable and completely replaceable to him like material objects. i think this is so interesting and think it works as a comment on the objectification of all women in society, as well as the victim-blaming culture we live in. far too many women have been that girl in the dress who cried the whole way home, and rather than blaming the man who caused their emotional trauma, those suffering women have just been told that they ‘should have known’ and the narrator’s first instinct is to blame herself. it’s essentially a parallel of the ‘they were asking for it’ ideology. the best part is how taylor subverts this though, john is then portrayed as someone who plays with fire, through the image of the girls that he has ‘burned… out’. the song then flips the narrative when the narrator steals his matches and sets the town alight, because if john was playing with fire… well then he was obviously asking to get burned, right? the narrator knows this as the final lines fade out with her changing ‘i should have known’ for ‘you should have known’. it’s calling out double standards at it’s finest

maybe i’m too sympathetic or maybe just too soft….. but like seeing the USWNT smoke teams 8-1 brings me no joy. all it reminds me of is how underdeveloped some countries are in terms of women’s soccer. so MANY teams are talented but have untapped skill because their countries refuse to throw a bone and help fund and structure women’s teams and it’s so sad.

There’s too many good black men and women out here for y'all to still be trying to explain the same shit you’ve been explaining for years! Why are y'all so drawn to negativity on this site? It’s like for every 1,000 good people out here y'all choose to focus on the 10 bad out the bunch. FUCK THEM! Stop explaining yourselves in 2017 because there is a nigga who is already just as “woke” as you waiting for you to notice him. Y'all block your blessings frfr. I’m about to just start blocking y'all cause I’m over the constant crying and victimization some of you have been on since you created your accounts.

15 facts ALL heterosexual people should know about lesbians (and bisexuals).
  1. Just as heterosexual people can know they’re straight without ever having sex, lesbians can too. You don’t need to have slept with a woman to know you are gay.
  2. Not all lesbians are identified as butch or femme.
  3. Being a lesbian is not a phase, its just life.
  4. Lesbians are not necessarily attracted to all girls they meet.
  5. A girl can have long hair and still be lesbian.
  6. Lesbians hate it when straight girls experiment on them.
  7. Just because lesbians are sexually and emotionally attracted to women, does not mean they hate or even dislike men. In fact, many lesbians love men.
  8. Sure lesbians have sex, but like heterosexual relationships, sex is not all there is to lesbian relationships.
  9. Some lesbians haven’t met the right woman yet, but meeting a man has nothing to do with it.
  10. Lesbians love their mums just like the rest of the world.
  11. Lesbians are not as tough as we think.
  12. Being a lesbian is not the same thing as being a straight man.
  13. Asking a lesbian why she ‘doesn’t like men’ isn’t going to suddenly make her revaluate her whole life and sexuality.
  14. The word lesbian is used in the gay world if both are of the same role in bed.
  15. Lesbians simply rock!

I get where all those posts and tweets are coming from about wanting to drive down ratings, DVR playbacks, tweets, and feedback about the inauguration are coming from. It’s a well-intentioned place. I too would love to see Trump explode because the ratings were not what he wanted and that he’s not trending, and he would too, if such things were possible.

But I don’t think at this point it’s possible to make a significant protest out of this. Too many people on either side of the aisle are going to be tuning in either out of support, morbid curiosity, latent horror, etc. Too many people are going to refuse to look away from this train wreck happening before their eyes. (Also unless you DVR it or have a Nielsen box, your watching it on TV doesn’t matter anyway)

But more than that, the time to ignore Donald Trump has already ended. The time to ignore Donald Trump and kill his ratings was during the campaign when he held no office and was a complete joke candidate. He should have been ignored before he became the nominee.

But now we can’t ignore Donald Trump ever, ever again, not until his entire empire has been eliminated. We have to keep our eyes on him more than ever before and say, “We see you.” We have to be ready to criticize him and oppose him at every turn. Because it doesn’t matter anymore if you pretend he doesn’t exist - he’s still going to be the president.

The inauguration may feel like just a meaningless pageant so there’s no harm in not discussing it online. But we know by now that Trump’s rallies have been dangerous; even his only press conference as president-elect was dangerous. If we don’t talk about it, loudly oppose it, he gets away with every awful thing that happens there. His supporters will keep it trending anyway.

Meaningful protest is when actual people invited to the inauguration, like politicians, talent, and scores of other people, do not show up. THAT is what will truly hurt him. It’s a visible statement that can’t be skewed or misinterpreted. Meaningful protest will be tens of thousands, hopefully hundreds of thousands of people attending the Women’s March on Washington protests happening all over the nation on Saturday. Please consider attending one of those, and please openly oppose Trump online on Inauguration Day to drown out his supporters and any media that tries to normalize this nightmarish thing happening.

The reason why a lot of men don’t know how to pursue a Godly wife isn’t always because they don’t desire it, but many are simply not ready, or, they don’t even know how to pursue a woman in a Godly way. In the same way we as women have doubts, insecurities, and questions about Godly relationships, we can’t forget that guys have these too.

This can be frustrating and may cause you feel like they’re getting nowhere when it comes to relationships, but the answer isn’t to try and solve all of these problems yourself. The answer is to pray for your brothers in Christ like you pray for your sisters: that God will prepare their hearts and that they’ll know their worth.

In the same way women are pressured to get married, many guys get similar pressure too. In the same way that women can be tempted to just date around, men deal with the same things. In the same way women deal with issues when it comes their bodies, sexual purity, and other things, men face issues as well. Of course women deal with issues that are distinct to being a woman, but the point is, let us not forget to pray for our brothers too.

If a guy has wronged you, this does not mean that his actions are inexcusable. What it means is no matter what, he’s still not outside of the realm of God’s grace. There is still hope for him AND for a generation that seems at times to have lost its way. So let us pray and do this:

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” - Hebrews 4:16

You don’t have to date a guy so you can try to change him. Let God change him. Why? Because God is not caught off guard by how “bad” the dating scene is or how much help someone needs. He doesn’t look at a single woman in her 30’s and say there’s no hope for her. He doesn’t look at a woman who’s been heartbroken yet still desires marriage and say “that’s just too bad.” He doesn’t look at a young man who doesn’t know his worth in Christ and say “there’s no way I could pour my love onto a sinner like that.” He looks at ALL of us with love, so let us look at each other in the same way!
