A/N: sorry but I’m a grade A art hoe @imaginesyes requested a first date fic and all I could think of was going to the museum and making really funny jokes also I’m sorry for the title I hate puns but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity on this so yea. Hope you guys enjoy it! I’m also tagging @hufflepuffholland bc charissa is an angel and i love her so much. If you want to request anything, feel free to drop an ask or message me!

“Are you ready to be bored to death?”

“Try me.”

Peter let out a deep sigh and proceeded to walk toward the entrance of the museum. You giggled to yourself and quickly caught up to him. In all honesty, you were just enjoying yourself to see Peter so nervous and antsy on your first date, especially because he was taking you to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You could tell Peter was a bit hesitant about his choice. To anyone else, it might’ve seemed like a boring first date suggestion. But you were ecstatic; it had been so long since you’ve visited the Met and you were excited to see the new exhibits.

Peter and you had just started dating last week, and today would be your first date as a couple. You’ve always had a crush on him since freshman year, and you couldn’t believe you guys were finally going out. Frankly, you were surprised that he had even asked you out at all; Peter was cute and incredibly nice, but he was also extremely shy and seemed to fumble with his words whenever he was with you. (Peter would argue that it’s because he thinks you’re so beautiful that you make his face turn deep red and cause him to freeze up whenever you’re around, but he would rather die than tell you that.)

Peter was walking you to the bus stop yesterday after school when he asked you out tonight. You were talking about some random comment Ned made in class that caused you both to laugh so hard the teacher had to reprimand you for being a distraction to class.

“I can’t believe Ned said he’d rather eat 5 pounds of sriracha than give up his limited edition collection of action figures!” You laughed to yourself.

“Well Ned’s got a lot of pride. He wouldn’t give those up for anything,” Peter chuckled.

“Tell me about it. Oh, I think my bus is here!” As you’re about to gather your things, Peter grabs your arm to stop you. You’re startled but look back at Peter and his face his red.

“Um, [Y/N]? I wanted to ask you… I-If you wanted to go on a date… With me?” He looks at you nervously.

“Peter. You’re seriously asking me if I want to go out with you on date?” you say with an incredulous look on your face.

“So…”

“Of course! I would love to,” you reply.

Peter looks so relieved, you would think he just finished a marathon with the way he visibly relaxed his shoulders and loosened his grip on his shirt.

“Oh thank god,” he breathes. “U-Um, I can pick you up tomorrow at 5? I mean, not with my car, I don’t have a car. But my Aunt May can drop us off. I-If that’s okay”

You laugh and say, “Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to it, Peter.” You grab the rest of your things and get inside the bus. Peter waves goodbye, simultaneously smacking himself in the face. “Should’ve just lied about the car, damnit…” he mutters to himself.

Inside the bus, you were giddy with excitement. “My first date!” you think to yourself, clutching your bag to your chest. “I wonder where we’ll go…”

After a fun car ride with May, (Peter would disagree) you arrived at the main stairs of the Met. You were so excited to begin exploring the exhibits. Peter bought both of your tickets and handed one to you. You thanked him and started walking inside, but you stop as you notice Peter looking conflicted.

“[Y/N], I’m sorry I asked you to go to a museum on our first date… I really wanted it to be special but they’re ending the Edvard Munch exhibit today and I didn’t want to miss it. God, you must think I’m such a nerd. I’m sorry we can just - ”

You stopped him in his tracks before he started rambling. “Peter, please don’t worry about it. I’m just glad to be with you and I love getting to spend time with you,” you say and give him a big, reassuring smile. Peter blushes hard and returns your smile, staring into your eyes for a long time. After a while, you’re a little confused and ask, “Peter? Why are you staring?”

Without missing a beat, he replies, “Because I love the way you smile and it makes me so happy that you’re mine.”

Speechless, you’re immediately taken aback and your cheeks flush at an alarming rate. You turn away from him and bring your hands to your face in an attempt to hide how embarrassed you were.

“Oh my god. Oh my god I just said that out loud, holy shit,” Peter exclaims and you see the panic in his eyes.

Upon seeing the pure shock on his face, you burst out into laughter, earning a few surprised glances from strangers. Peter, all the while a mess, was wondering what was going through your head. You try to maintain your composure and wipe the tears away from the corner of your eyes. You look at Peter, who’s anxiously waiting for your response.

“I’m glad to be yours then, Peter” and your heart swells with warmth and happiness. You really did mean it; there was no other person who made you feel so loved.

Peter sighs and looks at you in awe. He couldn’t believe that such a beautiful, amazing girl like you was really his girlfriend. He smiles wide and grabs your hand, seemingly feeling a lot more confident than before. He intertwines his fingers with yours, and your heart beats faster and faster as you feel the warmth in his palms. You like the way he gives you a slight squeeze before he says, “Thank you, [Y/N]. I’m so lucky to have you.” Swiftly, he reaches over and gives you a small peck on the cheek, just inches away from the corner of your mouth.

Slightly surprised, you giggle and find yourself blushing again. Peter was full of surprises today, and you were obviously in for a lot more.

Leading you to the entrance with his hand in yours, he jokes, “Now, will you please gogh inside with me so we can get this date started?”

“Oh my god.”

“C’mon, [Y/N]. Time is monet, you know.”

“Peter Parker, I swear to god!”

Watch Lena Waithe's Inspiring Emmys 2017 Speech for 'Master of None'
Lena Waithe delivered an emphatic message to her "LGBTQIA family" after winning the Best Comedy Writing Emmy for 'Master of None.'

The “Thanksgiving” episode of “Master of None” is one of the best pieces of television I’ve seen in a long time. And Lena Waithe’s message was awesome:

“I love you all and last but certainly not least my LGBTQIA family. I see each and every one of you. The things that make us different, those are our superpowers — every day when you walk out the door and put on your imaginary cape and go out there and conquer the world because the world would not be as beautiful as it is if we weren’t in it.”

Slow, ominous chanting gradually getting louder: sixteen, Sixteen, SIXTEEN, 16!!!!!!!

16: What would your characters be for Halloween?

OH GOD?

Viktor and Yuuri are such sad sacks in this WIP |D

But if we’re talking about just regular old Viktor and Yuuri, I think Viktor would be something beautiful and extravagant. Like an elf, or a fairy, because he wants to be beautiful.

Yuuri would be something not difficult to be. Like a cat, or a panda. Or maybe a fawn, with that really intricate fawn make-up that Viktor would probably do for him.

Come to think of it, I think that that would be a dream come true for Viktor. He would love to spend two hours doing make up on Yuuri.

To the LGBQTIA community, I see each and every one of you. The things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day, when you walk out the door, put on your imaginary cape and go out there and conquer the world. Because the world would not be as beautiful as it is without us in it.

Lena Waithe, the first African-American woman to win an Emmy for Best Comedy Writing

My LGBTQIA family. I see each and every one of you. The things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day when you walk out the door and put on your imaginary cape, go out there and conquer the world, because the world would not be as beautiful as it is if we weren’t in it. And for everybody out there that showed us so much love. Thank you for embracing a little Indian boy from South Carolina and a little queer Black girl from the South side of Chicago. We appreciate it more than you could ever know.

I remember being teased relentlessly throughout my childhood and my teenage life where people would say that because of my skin I’ll never be beautiful enough, they would even recommend skin bleaching products. So as a child I quickly realised that as a dark skinned girl I was not considered beautiful enough… At that time I didn’t know that it was the negativity from the people around me that was causing me to hate my skin and myself for that matter. I remember a time during school photos where a girl shouted “she’s too dark! You won’t see anything on her ID but her teeth!”, of course everyone laughed it out… And so did I…. Because I didn’t want to make it seem like I was offended… Their feelings felt more important than mine… After all growing up I was always reminded of how unlikely I was of ever being beautiful or finding someone that found my darkness beautiful…..
As a 19 year old today I sit here and say “I never gave in to skin bleaching”, “I was constantly reminded of how ugly I was but that only made me love myself even more….. I began considering myself as someone different, someone beautiful and out of the ordinary.”
Your skin no matter how dark it is that when you smile you can only see the glow of your teeth is worthy of love, your skin is that of a goddess and you should never feel anything about your skin but self love. I write this to all of the people that have gone through similar and worse, you don’t need to learn to Love your skin, the love is already there… You just gotta unleash it.

I would like to hear some stories of yours if you’ve ever gone through the same thing…. Message me on Instagram.

“Detection is a darned lonely business and detectives are perhaps inclined to be lone wolves, if you’ll pardon the expression. And at the conclusion of a case, there are always other parties not of the police force, who will claim to have solved it. I refer, of course, to that bane of the policeman’s life, the amateur sleuth, or worse, still, the professional private detective.“

“The things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day when you walk out the door and put on your imaginary cape and go out there and conquer the world because the world would not be as beautiful as it is if we weren’t in it. Last night Master of None writer Lena Waithe became the FIRST African-American woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series. She was the only female writer nominated in this category this year. and the first black woman ever nominated in this category for the Emmys.

The last time any woman won in this category was Tina Fey for one of 30 Rock’s final episodes in 2013. Only one other woman writer was nominated at the Emmys this year - Westworld’s Lisa Joy - who lost to The Handmaid’s Tale Bruce Miller.

#183.5
  • Percy started signing at the age of 7
  • It was his idea, after this kid at his school was being followed by this woman who spoke with her hands to the boy every time the teacher spoke. Percy thought it was so weird and he asked the boy why he couldn’t talk
  • The lady was really nice to him about it, too. She told him the boy couldn’t hear and that this was his way of talking, even if he was in what he called a ‘hearing school’
  • Percy fell in love with the language instantly. He befriended the boy and the lady, and because of that everyone made fun of him for being around 'that weird kid’
  • By the end of the semester, Percy was able to talk to Jacob, the deaf kid, without having to used Amanda, the translator
  • When he went home for winter break, he eagerly showed Sally the new language he learned. Sally couldn’t believe Percy picked up on something like that so quickly, learning so much in only a few short months
  • Percy insisted that they learn, because 'Then Smelly Gabe doesn’t have to yell at us for being too loud.’
  • He taught her whenever he had the chance, which was those rare times they went grocery shopping or out buying new uniforms because Percy was afraid Gabe would pick up on this beautiful language
  • When Percy went back to school, he found out his deaf friend had to move. Heartbroken (platonically speaking) and alone, Percy’s grades stopped getting better and he went mute for the rest of the schon year, refusing to do schoolwork or activities. He buried himself into ASL, learning as much as he could before Sally got a letter shortly after April testing stating that Percy was not welcome back for the next grading cycle
  • As he got older, he used ASL more than ever. He went back to talking, but sometimes he found himself accidentally signing as he spoke. It started off subtlety, only being words like 'my mother’, 'wind’, 'let’s go’, and 'no/yes’
  • Sometimes he’ll forget he’s not deaf, or that “normal kids” don’t sign, and he’ll switch into ASL in an argument
  • Kids teased him for it
  • He won’t admit it out loud, but that was why he fired that cannon at that Revolutionary war memorial
  • He forced himself to stop signing when he went to Yancy. He couldn’t look his mom in the eyes for a week when she found out that those kids, the ones who teased him for learning the deaf language, were why he blew up a bus.
  • Grover met Percy and befriended him, not once learning of his hidden language ability
  • Percy secretly likes no one knowing about it. It felt kind of like a secret language a spy would use when she couldn’t talk to her partner
  • As he grew into his demigod life, he found ways to prevent the unintentional signing - spinning Riptide in his fingers, running a hand through his hair, crossing his arms, or simply tucking his hands into his pockets
  • When Gabe died, Sally and Percy stopped signing to each other. After all, they didn’t need to be secretive, right?
  • When Paul came around, Percy’s signing defense reactivated. He talked to his mom with his hands again, which had shocked the teacher
  • Sally reassured Percy that there was no way Paul would be like Gabe. Gabe was being used for his scent; Paul was here because he was sweet and kind and loving
  • Paul couldn’t understand a word of their conversation, and when he asked Sally what happened, she told him that ASL was Percy’s “escape” language
  • Percy was shocked when Paul asked him to learn. It proved to be very great bonding time between the 2 of them
  • Then Hera kidnapped Percy and wiped his memories
  • While he trained with Lupa, he found himself weaving strange hand gestures into his speech. He couldn’t understand how he knew what this one hand gesture meant, or how to say a certain phrase without having to talk, but he thought it was the coolest thing ever.
  • Something inside him told himself to keep the hand signals to himself, like a gut feeling
  • Lupa was always telling Percy to follow his gut
  • So he stopped signing, focusing on improving his battle movements
  • Sometimes, on the Argo 2, he would stand in front of the mirror and sign to himself
  • Once again, he hid his favourite language from his friends. This was his and his mom’s language, their special way of talking
  • No one was allowed to know it unless they had to
  • Not even his own father knew that Percy and Sally were ASL speakers
  • The quests fly by, Percy making a point to communicate with his mouth and not his hands
  • At the end of Saving The World Part Two™, the first thing he did was go see his mom and sign to her
  • Beautiful with an S is the name his friend Jacob gave her when Percy showed him a picture. That name was the first thing hr signed when he saw his mother again
  • The squeal Paul heard from the kitchen indicated that Sally had signed “I’m pregnant”
  • (Which, guys, totally happened to be all Percy’s fault. Don’t believe me? It took a month of travel to get to Rome. Apollo went MIA for 6 months, which means TOA took place 7 months after SON. Sally is seven months pregnant in The Hidden Oracle…)
  • Percy settled back down into his normal oral-only speech rule he made for himself
  • Then Annabeth called him and said that he needed to meet her in Boston
  • Percy packed up stuff and drove himself to Boston via Blackjack & Chariot taxi services
  • There he met Magnus, Blitzen, Sam, and Hearthstone
  • Annabeth cheerily introduced Percy to her 'mortal-not-so-mortal’ cousin
  • Magnus and Percy discussed stuff for a while before Hearthstone signed that he couldn’t understand what Percy was saying because his mouth formed words differently
  • Without meaning to, Percy instantly started signing an apology, explaining that New York City accents did that
  • And Annabeth nearly flipped the table
  • “What do you mean you’ve been signing since you were 7?!”
  • Percy was stuck trying to explain to Annabeth that him knowing another language like that was no big deal
  • But to Percy, ASL was a huge deal. It was his favourite and his secret language.
  • Annabeth was just mad that such an important piece of information about Percy was never brought to her attention
  • Like ever
  • Percy reluctantly taught her ASL
  • Their wedding vows and were exchanged with ASL
