because i have a lot to learn about paneling and stuff

Hypothetical Handplates scenario in which Sans realizes he can teach himself Common.

(Ugh, tumblr is making them blurry for some reason so I guess full-view if you want the not-blurry version??)

Convoluted explanation incoming. Handplates is an Undertale fancomic by @zarla-s and if you like Papyrus and Sans, go read it, is good stuff. So I guess this is an AU fancomic of an AU fancomic? I dunno, the idea wouldn’t leave my brain until I did something with it. So. Zarla did a Christmas doodle where Gaster gave the boys a box of ginger cookies that had the word COOKIES on the side in big letters, and because my job gives me way too much time to think about random stuff, I realized something.

In Handplates, Gaster taught the bros to read and write Wingdings but deliberately did not teach them monster Common (ie: English) so they can’t read his nametag or anything. Thing is, Wingdings is a 1:1 substitution cipher for English. Every Wingdings symbol exactly equals an English letter; it’s not a different language, just a different set of pictures. As somebody who has taught herself a fair number of substitution ciphers, there are a few things you look for when you’re trying to translate a code and you don’t have a key in front of you. Most notably, single-letter words (in English they will usually be A or I) or double letters next to each other. Like the OO in “COOKIES”.

Sans is smart. Gaster has fed them junk food before and odds are good Sans knows how to spell “COOKIES”. The word is on the box in huge letters and Gaster just said it out loud, so it is fresh in Sans’ mind. That double-O is a huge tip-off. He would put it together that the word on the front of the box matches what’s inside. Once you figure out a few of the letters, it becomes steadily easier to decode the rest.

I feel like Gaster exposes the boys to enough Common (the nametag, food wrappers, computer monitors, the books Sans sits on) that Sans could pick it up with a proper starting point. Papyrus probably not, because he had a hard enough time with Wingdings, but Sans is eager for any opportunity to undermine Gaster and I’m sure he’d jump at the chance. In this comic he elects not to tell Papyrus, though. He doesn’t know Gaster has cameras in the cell (or even what a camera is) but he’s figured out that Gaster can spy on them somehow, and the last time Gaster caught them learning something he didn’t like, Papyrus got the ever-loving hell beat out of him. So Sans keeps quiet about it for now. And thus starts the long-standing tradition of keeping important secrets from his brother.

On the technical side, it took me a freakin’ week to sketch and outline this whole thing. Coloring and shading only took me like a day. In the meantime Zarla actually kinda addressed the cookie comic, but this was almost done by then so oh well. I’m finding my poses and proportions turn out a LOT better when I’m doodling skeletons, like what, drawing basic anatomy will make you better at anatomy, you don’t say?? A lot of this was a self-challenge to see if I could imitate Zarla’s art style, and I referenced previous Handplates comics a lot for the backgrounds and Sans’ face. Full disclosure: Gaster’s pose up there is basically copied from Zarla’s original comic because I was rushing through to get on to the actual meat of the story. He’s just here for setup. I had fun trying to figure out how to do his Lost Soul head though. Also, I hate Papyrus’ face from the front. Also also, it was tricky trying to convey “mentally translating an unknown alphabet into a known one” when pretty much everyone who sees this comic is already familiar with the “unknown” one and not the “known” one, but I think I pulled it off.

TL;DR- I imitated somebody else’s style to do an AU of an AU; I am not Zarla; Zarla is the creator of Handplates and also Gaster’s pose in the first panel; I like ciphers too much and also I gave the cookies icing because that is the only kind of ginger cookie I know.

10 things for those writing about people who are blind/have low vision...

So…finishing up my portfolio and I just thought I’d share a few things:

1. Person first language: people who are blind/ people who have low vision/ people who are visually impaired. However, keep in mind not everyone likes first person language or identifies as such. It’s a lot of politics and where you’re located, and tends to be tied to professions.

2. It’s a cane… not a stick

Side note: Please have your characters be safe travelers and use canes or guides some of the time, not just super powers all of the time. It’s hard enough for some young kids to use their canes without comparing themselves to Kanan Jarrus or Daredevil…

3.You don’t get super senses… but maybe you become more aware of what you’re sensing and differentiating what you’re sensing

4. As far as I’m aware and according to people I’ve talked to…touching faces is awkward and not effective

5. People who are congenitally blind may not turn to look at who’s talking because it is a learned skill that may need to be explicitly taught to them. However, people who become blind/lose their vision later in life may still turn to face who’s talking or face things that they are focusing on regardless of whether they can see it

6. Some people turn their heads at angles or appear to be looking away from you because they only have vision in that part of their eye that’s currently facing you. They can’t see you if they look straight on.

7. When you can see, you learn things whole-to-part. You, who are sighted, see a house, you think house. Then you learn door, window, roof, chimney, shutters etc. If you can’t see, you learn part-to-whole, and you need to rely on touch/hearing/smell/taste (when appropriate) to form a concept of something you might learn like this: door, smell of home, window glass, window frame, brick of a chimney, panels on side of the house etc. But then putting in all together as a house is difficult to conceptualize if you’re going off random pieces of the puzzle. You may need a tactile model or something to fill in the gaps if it’s something you’ve never seen and can’t touch in its entirety.

8. Cane stuff: Not everyone taps their cane when they use it. Most that I’ve been with don’t or if they do, they do not use it all the time. Think about it. You miss a lot of tactile feedback and there’s a greater risk of missing things to trip on. There are three types of formal cane techniques: two-point touch (the classic tapping side to side), constant contact, and verification technique. The first two the cane is held at the center of the body and the person moves it from side to side wide enough just so that it goes past their hips. As they move it to one side, their opposite foot steps forward. This gives someone the most protection when moving. Verification technique is when the person holds the cane low in their non-dominant hand and uses constant contact as they see possible obstacles/terrain changes in their path.

9. Counting steps is a myth. People don’t take even steps generally. Sometimes it’s easy to count doors if it’s a small number. But if you’re at school and you have to travel across the building, are you really going to count 20 doors? What if you bump into something and lose count? You’d have to start all over. Most people create landmarks for locations. It could be something like the door with the only bulletin board in the hallway. Or the door with the water fountain next to it. Or the door that is one door to the left directly across  from the water fountain. Another thing here, is that you can kind of feel when you’re getting close to somewhere you’ve traveled to before. Like when you’re driving home and you feel like it’s been a while and your turn should be here, when suddenly the turn is here! That’s called time-distance estimation.

10. Most people are not totally blind. Only 2% of the population is visually impaired and only 2% of the population that is visually impaired is totally blind no light perception. This means that most people who are blind/visually impaired/have low vision can see something, and everyone is different and reacts different to their visual impairment and how they use the vision they have.

This got long and slightly ranty, which was an accident… but I hope someone finds it useful. And now that I have this off my chest, remember creative liberty is a thing :)

JACKSEPTICEYE FUNFACTFILE

all facts you see here have been seen or said in his videos. they all come from many different videos, so please don’t ask me for the source, because i won’t remember.  Also, some of these may be incorrect, dont kill me. i might update this post once in a while when i learn new things, but ah.

JACKSEPTICEYE FACTS:

  • Is only just below 5′10, making him shorter by Mark (5′9 and a half maybe?)
  • Despite being Irish, he hates getting drunk, but will drink cans or cups of beer sometimes during videos, usually the long one hour ones.
  • A while back, around the time when Jack was with his korean girlfriend, he wanted to move to Korea and be an English teacher for children.
  • He can still speak Korean.
  • Jack has a scar above his left eye where the football hit him (aka the septic eye), you can see it in his eyebrow.
  • Has a degree in hotel management, but studied sound design as well.
  • Around the age of 16-17, he went through the punk phase, meaning he got his ears pierced, listened to punk music, wore black, went to mosh pits, and even had his own band for a while.
  • Jack actually meant to get gauges a size smaller than 8mm, but the people at the piercing place told him no one was in that specialised in those piercing sizes and asked him if he wanted to a size higher (8mm) so he said “fuck it” and got them. The reason he still has the holes is because if you go 8mm and over, the holes won’t reseal.
  • Since Jack had to learn hotel management, he had to learn how to clean hotel rooms, in the correct order. (theres an order of what you have to clean first, apparently.)
  • Lost his virginity at the age of 16.
  • Has VERY dirty humor, but when getting on to the topic of sex in video games he gets very embarrassed.
  • Hasn’t smoked weed.
  • Jack was actually meant to get on Mark’s roof to do that “TOP OF THE MORNING TO YA LADDIES” in that one RYC of Mark’s, but Mark forgot about it so it never happened.
  • Played Bugsy Malone when he was younger. (just imagine bby jack trying to imitate a new yorker accent…)
  • Likes Simon Stalenhag’s artwork. (i agree, it’s really, really aesthetically pleasing.)
  • Doesn’t draw, but he owns a small drawing tablet from his Drawing Your Tweets series.
  • Despite having a fear of heights, as a child, Jack would climb up trees for HOURS, as in, he would climb up trees and then climb back down and repeat the whole process.
  • Does not like the idea of blood being taken out of his body, it creeps him out.
  • Might be allergic to cats. He says this because every time he touches a cat he starts sneezing a lot.
  • Is the youngest of five.
  • Seems to really like robots, he has said he really likes The Iron Giant or Wall-E, and gets really happy when he plays video games based on robots.
  • Really likes voice acting.
  • Had rlly chubby cheeks as a baby
  • If you look closely you can see that Jack’s mustache has a red tinge unlike his beard.
  • Use to work out A LOT but stopped not long before he started youtube, little leprachaun had GAINS
  • Wishes he could be good at acting.
  • When Jack dressed up all nice n fancy for the SXSW gaming awards, he mentioned he actually has another suit he would have used, but went with the blue one instead. The other one was grey.
  • Buys a lot of childrens toys because he generally likes them and wants to own them. Usually most of the time he’ll see a toy in a window and be like “I want that.”
  • In 2014, Jack actually had a roommate named Killian, Killian was in a few videos, including this , this , and this. Killian eventually moved out.
  • Jack was given an opportunity to be apart of Youtube Rewind of 2015, but turned it down since he had things to do and didn’t have time to fly out to America.
  • Would like his own dog to have in the apartment.
  • Jack actually doesn’t have much of an Irish accent, it’s actually very, very subtle compared to other Irish accents. Like Ross, for example.
  • Jack is actually able to get his voice incredibly deep considering his natural voice, a lot of professional voice actors aren’t able to achieve that.
  • Wishes he can start working out again so he starts getting healthy again.
  • Jack is actually, believe it or not, not a whale biologist. I’m only putting this here because i fuckING THOUGHT HE WAS FOR A WHOLE YEAR.
  • Takes his coffee black with two sugars.
  • Jack’s actual reason why he doesn’t sleep other than thats it’s only for the weak, is that he really doesn’t see the point, he thinks that the time for sleeping could be used for better things. I also remember him mentioning once that since he’s in the same timezone as felix, some times he would skype felix and just talk to him. Idk whether he still does that.
  • Has a silver tooth, whether it’s a filling or he was born w/ it, it’s there.
  • Had very dark pink hair around the same time when he started his punk phase, theres no photos of it unfortunately.
  • Jack doesn’t have his drivers license, he regrets not getting it when he had the chance because the rules in Ireland have become a lot more harder.
  • Since Jack doesn’t wear gauges anymore, instead he puts shit like clothes hangers, keychains, hand sanitizer clips, and even MORE stuff in the holes.
  • Doesn’t have proper functional sweat glands. I always wondered why he didn’t seem so sweaty in vive videos or on panels. Instead he gets a rash.
  • In a video, Ian (Idubbz) asked Jack for some pubes.. and well, Jack did.
  • Was a fan of k-pop once, but that was a while back.
  • Hasn’t gotten sick in years.
  • HATED studying in music theory when he was in college
  • When he used to live in the cabin, by his house, there lived a little shetland pony that was in a video once.
  • Favorite birthday was his 7th, he even knew the presents he got were hand-me downs but recalls it to still be the best time.
  • Sometimes, Jack gets these awkward moments where if he walks through a doorway and it feels odd he’ll have to step through it again for it to be equal, same with when he balls one fist he has to ball the other.
  • Used to cut his own hair.
  • There is a vine of him which he filmed in college.
  • Here is a video of Jack voice-acting a detective saying a ton of puns for one of Robin’s animations
  • Has an awful gag reflex. Once stuck his thumb in his mouth and gagged.
RTX 2017 Advice/Tips!

I did one of these lil things last year so I wanted to throw another out with more fun information that I found to be helpful. It’s going to be my third year going now and I feel like every year I learn some stuff that I wanna share!

-Please respect all guardians! All the guardians are here to help you and your safety at the con!! If you have questions about something like finding panel rooms, where the bathrooms are, etc. feel free to ask because they are there to assist. Also if you are being harassed by anyone please tell the guardians because they want to make sure all attendees are having a safe time. Listen to them too!!! They know what’s up.

-Water is so important during this summer time convention!! The outside of Austin is sadly not air conditioned so it is important to carry around water with you! You can buy water at hotel stores, food shops, the convention, there’s even water fountains you can refill your water bottles at! If you got plastic bottle or you are carrying some type of water carrying thingy all is helpful. Stay hydrated please! It makes walking around less miserable too.

-There’s so many amazing places to eat (sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about it….I wanna eat at them all….) all around the area. There’s food booths in the convention center though just to let you know they are pricey! So I recommend looking up food places around the con center to maybe try out new places. Austin has so much food to offer I feel like there’s something for everyone, pizza, barbecue, burritos, hamburgers, and loads more.  There’s also a grocery store called Royal Blue Grocery that’s about a 10 minute walk from the con center.

-So this one kind of bleeds into the one above though I think it’s a good idea to know the layout of downtown Austin. It’s not super big and not easy to get lost in, though it’s important to know how to get to places when going anywhere and getting lost sucks. Try going on Google Maps and seeing from where your hotel/airbnb/etc to get to the convention center or see what restaurants are around! That being said if it’s your 1st time in Austin or your 500th time, please walk around with at least one buddy! This is for safety reasons for anywhere you go because if something happens you will at least have one friend to be there and help.

-Signings are a ~hot topic~ of RTX with ticket codes and such.Though I think a lot of people forget you will see people on the floor on the convention and if you ask if they are free for an autograph/photo they will most likely say yes (unless they are busy you know schedules) they are happy to meet you! Sometimes you run into people multiple times like the time I ran into Matt Bragg like 5 times in the same hour. With that being said, I recommend carrying around a Sharpie because they might not have one!

-Something I learned about last year that saved my butt: PORTABLE CHARGER. I had no idea how magical those are and bought one after the convention. Invest in one, I got mine at Walgreens and it’s an iHome for like $15 and it works crazy good! Those things are the best.

-This is random one though the streets/sidewalks of Austin have like holes in them like big potholes.I and friends had tripped on them before. Just make sure you look down once in awhile before walking to avoid tripping over one. Don’t want any injuries.

-It’s a great idea to talk to people at the convention! You will be waiting in lines for panels, autograph stuff, etc. and you will be standing there with someone, who has something in common with you: Rooster Teeth! Talk to people in lines because honestly one of the most important part is the community and you are with people from all over the country and sometimes even from other countries! Talk to people in line while you wait for stuff you never know what friends you will make along the way.

-Deodorant makes you smell good!

-I know in the years past the con center has a stage with chairs and standing area (within the tape they lay out) where you can watch some of RT let’s players play video games. On the schedule they will have what time, who is playing, and what they are playing.

-When the RTX app comes out, I recommend downloading that because that has schedule info and panel info too. Also make sure to plan out what panels you really want to go to and if it’s a big one (Achievement Hunter, RWBY, On The Spot, etc.) you might want to be in the area for that panel about a hour or two earlier than it says. The rooms are so enormous though you might wanna make sure if you reaaally want to attend that panel. Also important to listen to the guardians where and how they want you to line up!!!! Also of course if any panel changes they have will be the app!

-There are places to sit in the convention center up against the walls in the back for the sides there will be little open areas to sit on the floor. I know in the past 2 years the Funhaus booth has had little cube seats and charging station which are both a plus and helpful. It’s like super bright orange you can’t miss it!

I wanna say that’s all I have for tips and advice!! If you have any questions message or ask me! Have fun at RTX and I hope to see you there!

So I went to the Bob Morley panel at Ottawa Comic Con (yes I’m still screaming internally) and based on what he said I doubt Bellarke is happening this season (meaning anything romantic being confirmed). I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so. Bob was saying that especially after what happened in 4x11 their relationship/partnership is gonna need a lot of work to repair. And that Bellamy, in Bob’s opinion, needs the chance to find himself and develop his own strength before he can lean on someone else in a romantic sense. Bob doesn’t think it would be healthy for Bellamy to put that on someone else and hopes that Bellamy can find his own way to deal with what he’s done and who he’s become without having to lean on Clarke or have her around to be that person. And as much as I love Bellarke, I love Bellamy more, so I completely agree. Now he did joke around saying it’s hard to answer Bellarke questions cause he doesn’t want to give away too much, and when asked who he thought Bellamy had the strongest connection with/who influenced Bellamy the most Bob said Lincoln because their shared love for Octavia, but then said - Well there’s also Clarke, but kinda left it there. So that might just be Bob’s feelings, and certainly doesn’t dispel any Bellarke stuff from happening ie. love confessions or almost kisses (cause I totally want an almost kiss before anything real cause I love that slow burn) but that’s just the vibe I got.

Other things Bob said were:
- what he’s learned from/ found most inspirational about Bellamy (my question yay) is his persistence. His ability to go on even in the face of all the horrible things that have happened to him and all that he’s done. The fact that he keeps working to do what’s best for his people and to gain back Octavia’s trust is what is inspiring about him and when he (Bob) is doing tough scenes or is really tired he thinks about the fact that Bellamy probably hasn’t slept in days and thinks in comparison to that he personally doesn’t have it so bad
- His hardest goodbye on set, which took him forever to decide on, was Devon cause apparently they lived together and hang out all the time. So he said that although they’re gonna still hang out, Devon is off doing other projects so it’s going to be sad to not have him around all the time and on set
- Bob says the person that most influences his portrayal of Bellamy is his older brother. He said his brother had always taken care of his family and continues to put his loved ones first and that kind of passion is what he takes from his brother and puts into Bellamy
- Bob also said that in general the people that inspire him most of all are his family. He said specifically his brother and his mom, but in general his family. He said he never had posters of famous sports people on his wall, but apparently growing up his dad owned a gym and they had posters of Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger up on the wall. Professionally he looks to Scorsese, Woody Allen, and some others I didn’t write down sorry!!
- The hardest part of the job he said is that everything is so high intensity all the time and so when you’ve been on set for hours and it’s 4am and you’re exhausted its hard to remember that these are life or death decisions. He said it’s difficult to demand that level of emotion all the time and for hours on end.
- he said that he would bring back Wells just to see how different their lives would be. He said it would be interesting to see how Jaha was if his son was still alive. He also said it would be an interesting dynamic if Finn was still alive as well. To see the effect on Raven and Clarke and how that would change their journey. But he specifically said Wells, and was all dramatic saying he wouldn’t even know what the show would’ve been if Wells hadn’t died.
- Bob said that if he could play any character he would be Jaha, for a while he was choosing between Murphy or Jaha but then said Isaiah and Richard portray them so well and bring so much to their roles that their performances are what make them such compelling roles that he wishes he could explore. But mostly he wants to play Jaha to get into that mindset and figure out what motivates him to be so crazy
- some one asked what kind of father Bellamy would be and how his children’s lives would be different than his life on the ark. He laughed about Bellamy being a dad in a sort of ‘oh god no’ kind of way, but then said in a sort of, pretend their living off the land out of the bunker kinda of scenario, the next generation would have more respect for the earth since humanity is what destroyed it in the first place.
- Another question was what Bellamy wanted to be when he was 5 years old, and Bob said that because he didn’t know who his father was Bellamy would have liked to have imagined his dad was someone other people looked up to. So Bellamy would have thought that he could be a leader too, like captain of guards, or whatever he wanted to be. But as he got older that dream to be whatever he wanted was crushed by the harsh class system on the ark and he settled into the realization that he wasn’t special and that he was kind of stuck in a lower class life and that’s why he was so resentful of Clarke and Wells trying to take over on the ground
- And lastly cause I can’t remember anymore right now - He said in order to take on a new character he needs to really physically get into their head space and their physical space, so he will go around and touch the walls and makes sure he feels comfortable in that place. He said he needs to find where that character’s energy sits (which makes my actor heart glow with joy omg what an *artiste*)

Sorry this turned into a really long post, but it’s only been like 12 hours since I saw him and I’m still putting all my energy into not crying every second of the day. Also just a reminder I didn’t record this, I just jotted things down, so none of this is quoted from Bob word for word. This has all been paraphrased and interpreted by me!! I didn’t change any info, or answers, just reiterating.

Can you give me some advices/tutorials on how to make gifs? I suck at it and hell, I've been trying to gif for two days and I still can't :(

Of course! Let me just say when you start off making gifs it can be very difficult and confusing (I know it was for me). So I’m going to try and give you lots of tips and things that I’ve learned so hopefully you can skip lots of the hard parts I had to learn on my own. Also don’t get discouraged if you feel like your gifs aren’t turning out amazing, you’ve just started and it’s taken me over the course of 3 years to start making ones I’m actually happy with, as always practice gives you experience! Anyways enough of my rambling lets get started.

okay, it took me a while to write everything down, but here are my thoughts and reactions to the last 19 days chapter!! (an alternative title for this could be ‘how to make people regret asking about your thoughts’)

anyway, it’s been pretty hard for me to put some order to my thoughts, because im just!!!!!!! so in love with this chapter!!!!!!!! it’s been a whole day and im still such a mess, there are noises coming out of my mouth but they’re not human, and i can’t find the right words to express how i feel because this update wAS TOO MUCH FOR MY POOR HEART

i think this might be my favorite tianshan chapter, tho it’s a very close tie with chapter 185, and im afraid i’ve been kinda all over the place, but hopefully it makes sense!! (putting this under a cut because it’s really long and there are some pictures)

OK so I'm going to rtx austin this summer but as someone who has never been, what should I expect? What should I go see? Help?! Lol

Sure! Here is a quick post of what you’ll need for RTX:

Packing

  • Comfortable Shoes- You will be walking…a lot!!
  • A Backpack- To carry your swag safely, nothing you can carry all day.
  • Clothes- Not optional

Water - You’ll be walking, you’ll be in the sun, you’ll get thirsty. Please for the love of god have water

  • Snacks- Bring snacks for food during the day. You’ll be waiting in lines for a few hours and it always help to talk to other on a not-as-empty stomach. Bring food you’ll thank me.
  • Sunscreen- If you burn easily come prepared! There is a shit ton of sun in Austin, and if you’re like most of us and don’t go outside a lot you will burn.
  • Entertainment- Card games, movies, that copy of your friend’s Strangerhood DVD that you stole, whatever for you to survive those long lines and hotel nights. 3DS or any sort of portable game system works too but remember chargers for those. Don’t count on the wifi to bail you out!
  • Money- Convention stuff is expensive so if you wanna go home with something bring cash. There will be exclusive merch at the con and if you want to get it, make sure you have the cash for it. Also budget Fasten fares, food, city attractions, and emergency money just in case.
  • A signing pen- You never know who you’ll run into on the floor and should be ready with the pen or the selfie because they don’t have a lot of time.

HOTELS

  • If you’re sure you’re going, book your hotel NOW. Waiting last minute and unsure of how everything was going to work out will bite you in the ass later. The hotel deals are on the RTX Website so save yourself some money and get on it.
  • Most hotels have free cancellations within 3 days of the booked date so don’t worry about having to back out.
  • Don’t cheap yourself out! If you’re not planning on getting a rental car get somewhere in walking distance. If you’re planning on paying for cab rides the whole time just pay the extra for a closer, nicer, hotel. If you’re booking farther away, have extra cash on your for a pick up or a Fasten

Transportation

  • Once again cab fares are ridiculous, fortunately a lot of things are in walking distance of the convention center. Especially eating places. If you’re trying to really site see or go far our I suggest using Fasten, I did last year and it worked out really well.
  • Check to see if your hotel offers a complimentary shuttle ride from the airport if you are flying into Austin.

FOOD

  • 6th Street will be busy, so make sure you plan accordingly for eating. Lots of people both visiting and living in Austin go there so places will be packed
  • It’s everywhere in downtown Austin
  • There seems to be something for everybody
  • Plan your money accordingly, some is affordable, some isn’t, check the local restaurants on Google Maps or Yelp before you go

Convention Tips/Etiquette

  • YOU WILL BE IN LINES FOREVER. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. I was in lines for probably the majority of the convention haha. Please heed my warnings, pick 3 things spaced throughout the day to see. It is actually impossible for you to see every panel or to go to every signing. Find something to entertain you like a fully charged tablet, or friends, and be ready to camp out about an hour before your panel, or two or three hours for the larger panels like the Achievement Hunter panels.
  • DO NOT FORM LINES IF THE GUARDIANS SAID A PANEL LINE HAS NOT STARTED. I can not tell you enough how man times we had groups of people huddling around doors. If the Guardians tell you to not line up, THEN DON’T.
  • If you are worried about lines, follow @RTXLines
  • Treat the Guardians with a little respect (Or a lot if you can handle it). Talk to them or give them a quick thank you while you’re waiting forever in those long lines. They’re sacrificing a lot of their experience to make yours better.
  • If you’re going to get up the mic during a panel, we don’t care what your story is, or who couldn’t make it, DONT ASK FOR SHOUTOUTS DURING A PANEL. There is only so much time during a panel, and as much as the staff loves you guys, it will get annoying and take up time for them to shout out every person
  • That being said, we all understand talking in front of hundreds of people is nerve racking. If you stutter, or are at a loss for words it’s not the end of the world, we’re not all public speaking champs. Just rehearse your question until you get to the mic and take your time asking the question.
  • If you’ve never been to a convention before… SOME PEOPLE ARE WEIRD! You’ll learn that out real quick. Just because people are a little overzealous or socially awkward does not mean you should judge them, we’re all fans coming together to celebrate something we love.

Cosplay Tips!

  • Have an emergency cosplay kit! Sewing needles, fabric tape, glue, anything you need to fix up a cosplay. You never know when you or another cosplay buddy might need it.
  • IF YOU BRING A PROP, MAKE SURE TO RUN IT BY SECURITY FIRST. We had issues last year where some RvB cosplayers brought guns as props, but they covered the orange tips and had to remove them from the con. There is going to be a cosplay table where security will inspect your prop and tell you if it’s ok or not to have. Please make sure you go there and check in your prop
  • Don’t be too in character. Pretending to be Ruby or Jaune is fine, but when it comes down to having to follow Guardian instructions or being respectful during a panel please just act casual. We had issues last year on this too for the RWBY panel and had to ask a few to leave because they were not being respectful.

MAKING FRIENDS

  • You’re not the ultimate Rooster Teeth fan. And if I wrong and you actually are, don’t act like it. We’re all here for the same reason, let’s talk about the things we love like equals.
  • Talk to people! I know some of us are socially shy or awkward, but most people at this event won’t judge you. If your not talking to somebody those lines can get old real quick.
  • Stranger Danger is still a thing. Make sure you know how to talk to strangers, be careful, unless you’re an adult then you got this.
  • Please treat women and men Cosplaying with respect. Just because they’re representing a character does not mean they want their material felt, or that you are owed a picture with them.

If anyone else has tips they would like to offer, feel free to add them to this post!

Pidge headcanons

Hey so @vodka-aunt-coran you’ve inspired me so here’s some more Pidge headcanons that were bouncing around in my head-hole last night when I should have been sleeping:

-She experiments and explores in very odd ways. She is frequently found licking things, touching things, repeating certain motions/sounds just to see why they’re happening (a panel somewhere makes a squeaky noise every time it opens and she could probably just oil it to make it stop but instead she drives everyone up the wall squeaking it because she wants to know exactly why it’s making that noise before she does anything).

-A conversation that definitely happened one day: “Pidge, why are you missing an entire sleeve?” “I ripped it off.” “Why?” “There was a hole in it and it was bugging me.”

-She makes lists for every. Little. Thing. Even the most arbitrary things, because it helps her organize what’s in her brain.

-She has a terrible filter and also teenage hormones and also a brain going 500 miles an hour at all times so she can be known to say something hurtful on accident (no one is immune and she feels terrible afterwards; has been known to sulk for hours after apologizing).

-Member of Team “Smoothies Totally Count As Food It’s Just Blended Food.” Opposite Hunk, who says it can’t be food if it’s liquid and he is wrong.

-Did someone say team bonding? She and Hunk have that whole “totally ignoring each other while still enjoying each other’s company” thing going on. Sometimes they talk, share theories and tricks and tips on stuff, but a lot of the time they’re just chilling out and it’s nice.

-She and Lance make pillow/blanket forts and they have conversations about their families in there. They eat sugary snacks and watch stupid videos that Pidge managed to find in her files or just floating out there in the spacewaves. They laugh a lot. She downloads music for him to listen to at night whenever she can.

-Shiro is the one who makes her feel most at home, though, mainly because of how close he was to her father and brother. He kind of knows her, and is sort of a big brother in his own right. She feels helpless around him, because she thinks about how much he hurts almost more than anyone, and she doesn’t always know how to help.

-Keith is actually the one she understands the least, at least at the beginning, but that’s because they’re strangely a lot alike. Pidge tries to think a little before she acts, but they’re both largely impatient and single-minded in their focus. More than anyone, he understands her feeling of helplessness. After a while, they start talking and sharing their feelings, something neither of them is all that god at in general, but maybe the fact that they both understand that takes the pressure off.

-She visits and talks to Allura more often after Allura loses her father’s AI. Allura is definitely more into the dresses and tea party stuff, or was a lot more, when she was younger; she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a little disappointed when Pidge turned out not to be that interested in pretty clothes, but they still bond. Pidge looks up to Allura, wants to have that strength. And okay, maybe Pidge does get into tea parties with the mice…just a little bit. She’s not “girly” per se, but once in a while it’s nice to hang out with Allura and just feel like a girl.

-Coran, as we all know, is the literal best. He encourages all of Pidge’s questions and has the stories to match them all. Gives her little projects whenever she’s bored. Also does his best to learn about humans and their culture, so he has a little more insight into Pidge herself and what she likes to do.

-I am 100% down for Jewish Pidge (but I am not Jewish and my knowledge comes from Google and the smattering of stories I’ve gotten from various Jewish friends I’ve had literally since elementary school, so do call me out if I say anything inaccurate or offensive). She feels she probably didn’t go to temple as often as she should have back on Earth, but she does pray when she can, and you bet your butt she knows Hebrew like the back of her hand (she needs to be included in all the language stuff that gets tossed around for the others, yes please). Absolutely there are Channukah sweaters and as close to a menorah as she can get whenever they can figure out the holidays up in space–which gets tricky for everyone, but it’s worth the effort. Hunk tries to make latkes for her in some fashion, too. And matzoh ball soup. (That one is a little easier.) Credit to @commandocoran for making me fall in love with this headcanon!

-Elephants are her favorite animal. Unrelated to peanuts. She just thinks they’re cute, especially as babies.

Any comic making tips? Also, what's the best way to build a fan base?

My #1 tip I always tell people who are starting comics for the first time is: PLAN FOR YOUR SPEECH BUBBLES AND DIALOGUE BOXES. Do not draw your whole page and then try and squeeze the speech bubbles into the panels without covering any of your beautiful art up. If you plan for the speech bubbles early on, you’ll save yourself a lot of headaches later on in the process!

What I do is I actually physically write in the dialogue and draw the speech bubbles around the text during the sketching and layout stage, so that I know what’s going where wayyy in advance. I also type the text out before I begin any of the clean up work or line art. Think about your dialogue and have it work WITH you, not against you! Well placed dialogue can guide your reader’s eye throughout the page~

I’m not sure what the best way to build a fan base is, but I truly believe if you draw what you like and draw what makes you happy, people will see that and be drawn to your enthusiasm. People can tell when a piece of art isn’t genuine - do what you love, love what you do, and have fun!

If you really like something and want to draw fanart for it? Awesome! You’ll be able to find other people who also like that thing!
If you’re really into your own OCs/stories and want to just draw that and not draw fanart? Fabulous! People will see how much you care about your stuff and will want to learn more!
If you love your OCs but also find yourself drawing quite a bit of fanart too? Spectacular! You’re in the same boat as me! As long as you’re drawing what you want to draw, you’re doing great! :D Keep it up!

Don’t be discouraged - if it seems like your growth is slow going, remember that over-night internet success is very rare. It’s all about that long-game! I’ve been drawing and posting my art online for ten years, and have only recenty started to get a larger following on my art blog!

Don’t draw for views, don’t draw for fame, and don’t draw because people tell you to - draw because you like to draw and you want to draw. ESPECIALLY IF IT’S YOUR HOBBY!!!!

Emerald City Comic-Con 2017

So I drove to Seattle from my little city Bend, OR on Thursday, about a 7hr drive there (7.5 hrs on the way home :/)  I stayed with @ninaf who lives just outside of Seattle.  We hung out that night and didn’t go to bed until after 1 a.m. 😳The Panel:  Our plan was to get to the Convention Center by 8:30/9:00 a.m. which we did. It was interesting that there didn’t seem to be much ‘security’(I could have taken my flask :/), we entered from across the street where we parked in a public parking garage and entered in at the 3rd floor.  We probably could have gotten in Sat. no problem even without a Sat badge!  Anyhow quickly found the line for the Outlander panel – SO many people!  They let us in at about 10:45 and me @ninaf and 2 of her friends (that are ‘normal’ fans) found some seats – we were second row far left of the stage – right where the fan questions were left of the stage.  I wanted to ask a question – Sam could you please sit back I can’t see CAITRIONA!? In front of us was a slew of moms with their babies – so cute – one started fussing and Cait actually looked over to them with her awe concerned face – she clearly LOVES BABIES! ♥  You can just see it in the video briefly at about 14:32 min. I am a huge Cait fan so I was Screaming and standing when she came out and thought we were doing pretty good there, then Sam came out and omg decibels! They sit down and Sam won’t sit all the way back on the couch, I don’t know why, and he was blocking my view of Cait, I could only see her on the screen or if she moved forward or back. 😒 I didn’t take any pics, cos I just wanted to be present and absorb the experience, (one of @ninaf ’s friends did though so we’ll post as soon as we get them). One observance is they both looked tired, but ready to 'do this’.  I loved the panel, I thought they were very comfortable, there to have fun and engage with us, I liked the questions asked and quite a few of mine were answered. Caitriona was taking the lead quite a bit but I think her wit is a bit quicker than Sam’s (I’m a taurus and we tend to slow think sometimes) but it gave him a chance to play off of her which I feel they do quite a bit probably. They seemed very in tune with each other.  Next on the agenda was the autograph session.  We got there @ about 12:15 for the 12:30 and were turned away- too full come back at 4.  Well cool, we can at least eat, since we didn’t have any breakfast so we had lunch and drinks. Met up with @ourrubygirl and her daughter (normal fan), nipunad on twitter – sorry don’t know your tumblr and with ninaf and her 2 friends (side note – they were so funny before I even got to Seattle they were concerned that ninaf would invite someone from online who she had never met to stay at her house.  By then we had talked on the phone and friended each other on facebook so they had to facebook stalk me to give their approval – whew, glad I passed). 😘Photo Op!  Ugh, okay this is where we realized that this poor little comic-con was absolutely NOT ready for this Outlander fandom and where everything really started to get behind schedule.  I envy the Sat photo op participants, looks like it was more relaxed and not as rushed as Friday's– READY click NEXT! I know people have been dissing the posed photos, but after being 'there’ this is what I feel, I think SamCait enjoy the poses somewhat, cos’ otherwise the way it was with many of us on Friday we just walk in, stand next to them, click and we’re out, so I could see that for sure getting tedious AF for them, they seemed to have more fun on Sat with it – because they were allowed to also.  Anyhow the Friday photo op was close to being a complete clusterfuck, but the gestapo staff pulled it off.  There were other people there, apparently there was more than just OL there 😉 that would be like “What is this line for with all these people?” And we’d be like Outlander, and they just go off mumbling wtf is outlander? Funny. I walked in for my 'Team Outlander’ photo and I was wearing opal earrings from Mexico and Cait says to me “oh I love your earrings” Me: thank you – and I’m beaming so fucking hard I can hardly breath! So I’m 5'1” - yeah – I’m holding on to them for the photo mumble thanks or something I fecking don’t remember, patted Sam’s back turned and looked up OMFG this guy is TALL! I have a friend that is 6'7”, but Sam seemed much taller than that, I think it’s his massiveness or something IDK. His leather jacket is really soft btw.Okay NEXT – while I go back in line for my Cait only photo, ninaf goes downstairs to get in line for the autographs – good thing too since they almost turned me away by the time I got down there!  STEP OFF BITCH I WILL GET MY CATRIONA EFFING BALFE AUTOGRAPH!!!!  So by this time we are beyond hot – it was so hot in this place which wasn’t even at the convention center, everything but the panel was at the Sheraton next door.  Note to self Bring water bottle, we learned a lot of should'ves…. So there was quite a wait for this, mainly because Caitriona was still upstairs READY click NEXT! And they could only do the Sam only autographs which there weren’t a ton of apparently😁

The way they had it set up Cait first then Sam, so we had to wait for Cait to appear.  We were in the 'overflow’ line outside of the main autograph room, but could see in there a bit, we saw the lights go out, didn’t hear the comments @sileas84 mentioned, but too funny.  When we finally got to the 'room’ wow, so I am a diehard Caitriona Balfe fan, I like Sam but am not an over the top fan like most… I have to say seeing him up close and personal I COULD NOT take my eyes off of him, he was so 'cute’ doesn’t do it justice, I seriously have no word/s for it.  He was so funny and gracious and flirty with the women and NICE, very tan too, yeah, I kept running into people as the line snaked around trying to just watch him, I even almost got kicked out trying to sneak a pic – damn gestapo staffers.  So finally get up to Caitriona, um effing goddess.  She had quite the stash of gifts, I had considered giving them something but didn’t want to burden them with too much stuff and if they truly just give it away well… So I opted to give her a love letter as I call it, from me.  I didn’t know what to 'say or ask her something’ so I mentioned that I have a head shot autograph of Simon (her friend Simon Kassianides) and I can add hers to it now and she smiles and says “oh cool, I just saw him a couple of days ago!”  Me: heehee. JHRC I’m such a dweeb.  I didn’t get a Sam autograph cos’ they had sold out by the time I got online to purchase, I coached ninaf though to make sure to smell him so we could report back, since we both forgot to at the photo op :P  So we float out of the room and out into the main area and I finally just started screaming I was so excited – I got to talk to Caitriona Effing Balfe (even if it was brief)  I am so so glad I did this!

After this was all done it was getting close to our dinner plans for meeting up with other tumblrs, so we eventually got to the restaurant.  How fun to finally meet some of us.  As we came into the room I immediately recognized @rainmanjdog and @mommydog67, we had been chatting while in line for our Cait only photo and didn’t know that we were part of the tumblrs, so funny and we all almost asked each other but didn’t want to risk it – so sad.  Great night hanging with everyone, best story goes to @valkyrie1969 I still chuckle just thinking about it.  So where is the photo of us pointing at the 'Meet and Greet’ room @pentwhistle ?

Overall impression of SamCait – they are two of the most genuine, engaging, fun, cool, nicest people.

Overall impresion of our tumblrs – we are some of the most genuine, engaging, fun, cool and nicest people.

JIB8 Summary - Day 3 (Sunday)

I didn’t take many notes today because I spent a lot of time queueing for stuff, so I missed the Jared panel and the Jared & Misha panel =( And then during the Cockles panel I was too busy watching and laughing to write things down ;)

David (morning)

  • Buckleming pitched a Hunger Games episode where Toni, Ketch and Mick had to survive out in the woods as children
  • The happiest moment for Ketch was his night with Mary, the real intimacy he shared with another human being
  • He and Sam Smith talked a bit about how Ketch and Mary would do it: Ketch’s wrist tied to the bedpost, 50 Shades style; but Sam was worried about the fan reaction because she already got flack for Mary’s behaviour during the season, so they scrapped that idea

Jensen (morning)

  • Question: In “Regarding Dean”, what was the difference between regular Dean and the Dean of that episode? Jensen: It gave him a chance to really play; a lot of it was comedic, but the mirror scene in the bathroom got real, it was a totally different tone
  • There was no actual mirror, but a camera right in front of his face, and he told himself ‘just imagine it, just imagine it’; he told the director to let the camera roll and just ran through the scene a few times, and he’s happy with how it turned out
  • When Jensen read the scene with Mary in 12x22 it was an ‘ah, there it is’ moment; for the entire season Jensen was struggling to understand for Dean why Mary was back, to make sense why Amara brought her back (”what Dean needed the most”) when he thought it’d be John; Berens was on set when they filmed and Jensen thanked him for literally clearing up the entire season with regards to the Dean-Mary relationship; Jensen played it as ‘Mary was given back to Dean for catharsis’
  • He didn’t wanna cry in that scene (it was in the script) but it was a real moment and he felt for Dean
  • When asked about Dean’s ability to forgive the people he loves Jensen says that Dean holds more of a grudge than Jensen himself does, and that Dean harbors anger and resentment

Cockles (afternoon)

  • When asked if they have any superstitions, Jensen says that he always walks onto an airplane with his right foot first, and it hasn’t failed him yet. Misha wears orange(-ish) underwear because it’s lucky. He then shows off the one he’s wearing right now and Jensen takes a closer look, saying it’s pink and not orange *lol*
  • This somehow leads to Jensen turning his back to the audience and apparently undoing his pants in front of Misha, and by Misha’s reaction, I’m pretty sure he actually did it
  • Question: What would Dean and Cas do together on a motorbike trip / vacation to Rome? Misha: Cas is driving because Dean drives the Impala, but he never learned how to drive a motorcycle, or a bike; they say it’s difficult to answer because it kinda applies to them right now (since they’re in Rome)

Any advice for someone wants to make a comic for the first time on paper? Like, a well drawn comic just like yours...

I… haven’t done proper traditional artwork in a long while, so if you mean actually drawing comics on paper, I’m not a good person to ask.

The general art style and art quality are a bit of a separate thing from comic-making — it’s just practice and learning. Making comics helps develop your skills a lot though, since the story you’re making will demand you draw a certain thing — sometimes outta your comfort zone — so you’ll get a lot of different things to learn drawing.

As for things specific to comic-making…

  • Some people can do comics as they go. Some write down a plan first. Some even do full scripts before they start drawing. (I’ve done all three at various points.) Try all of them and see which one works for you.
  • If you haven’t drawn sequential art before, it could be useful to look up stuff on pacing the story. There are many resources about that out in the Net. Notes on animation pacing can be helpful too, but keep in mind that pacing in animation is very different from pacing in comics. (I started out as an animation enthusiast, so I tend to pace my comics like I would do an animatic. That… doesn’t always work.)
  • Lettering by hand can work very well, since your drawing style tends to work well with your writing style. Just make sure to keep it legible and at least sort of organized.
  • Use your best judgement to choose what style to use for your comic. Sometimes backgrounds and proper shading are essential to setting the scene, but they can be detrimental if you’re doing a short comedy piece. Also it’s good to be aware of and keep in mind how much time and effort you can and are willing to spend on the comic.
  • If you’re going to work on complex pages and not strip comics, then look up comic composition. One of the difficulties of working with pages is that not only every panel has to have good composition, but also the page overall.
  • On that note, I generally thumbnail pages first to figure out composition, add text to know exactly how much space it would take — because treating text bubbles as a part of composition usually makes pages look nicer — and only then I start sketching. Donno if this would work for you, but it’s one of the nice ways to approach page construction.

That’s… about all I can think of, to be honest. If you want things on comic specifics, it’d probably be best to look up specific tutorials.

Good luck with your comic-making!

Highlights from the Rebecca Mader panel at Storytelling Con, Barcelona, April 22, 2017

  • Asked about visiting Prague:  “My favorite thing to do in Prague is just to walk around the old part, walk over the bridges, drink the wine and eat the food.  I ate and drank so much in Prague it was fantastic.  A really beautiful city.”
  • Asked about Elizabeth Mitchell:  She missed working with her on Once Upon a Time but loved working with her on Lost.
  • About Zelena’s relationship with Hades:  “That died a death didn’t it?  Zelena and Hades no more.  […]  Being with Hades was the first time Zelena has ever been in a romantic relationship with a man or a woman.  It definitely changed her.  It broke down some walls around her heart.  […]  He was awful.  She can do way better than him.  He’s an amazing actor.  I think she deserves to be with someone who doesn’t want to murder her sister.  You know what i mean?  […]  I need some new blood.  Someone new.”
  • If Regina and Zelena weren’t sisters would she ship them:  “Yeah.  It doesn’t matter because in real life we’re just Bex and Lana.”  What story would you like for them?  “To be lesbian lovers you mean?  I’d watch it!  It would have to be on cable or netflix.  And for them not to be related.  Just girlfriends, not sisters, two strong women?  I ship it.”
  • Why she became an actor and move to the US:  “I always wanted to be an actress but I couldn’t afford to go to college.  So I just decided fuck I’m going to move to America and see what happens.  So I moved to America with $200 and said I’m going to be an actress!  And everyone said okay… and I showed them.  Haters gonna hate….”
  • What would you like to be if you weren’t an actress:  “I don’t have a plan B.  I always wanted to be an actress so I did it.  I don’t have an plan B.  If it all goes wrong I’ll just have to do it at home.”
  • Asking about Glinda:  “Yeah I love it when there are lots of Wizard of Oz characters.  Tomorrow night, because you’ll all be watching illegally on your laptops, is a big episode for my character where you’ll get to meet the Tin Man and maybe the Cowardly Lion.  I think it would be great if Glinda came back at some point.  She’s beautiful.”
  • Bex cannot remember the Lost numbers.
  • Bex wants Star Wars characters added to Once Upon a Time.
  • How does she view Regina blaming Zelena for the death of Robin:  “It was not my fault!  I didn’t do it!  I didn’t kill him!  I killed Hades for her!  I’m FINE!  I literally killed my boyfriend to save my sister.  You’re welcome.  Regina lives because of me.”
  • FMK:  Emma, Rumple, Regina.  F: Emma, M: Regina, K: Rumple.  Because Regina would cook for her and be a good wifie.  “That’s a whole new tv show!  I’d watch it.”
  • If Zelena had a pet what would it be:  “A flying monkey.  And a broomstick.  And if you ever don’t see my baby in a scene, they’re like ‘the flying monkeys are taking care of it.  They’re good nannies.”
  • A love interest from Lost for Zelena:  Sawyer.
  • Funny stuff between the cast:  She directs people to Snapchat and she suggests Lana is always trying to feed her and make her fat.
  • Favorite character on Grey’s anatomy:  “The hot guy who is always moody and works in peds.  And then like the hot blond lesbian.  I love her.  If I had a sick baby I’d take her to her stat.”
  • Promises that we’ll see some “sister stuff” in the coming episodes.
  • Question about Zelena finding true love, someone suggests Emma, “Sorry Hook.  Maybe she should break up their relationship.”  More suggestions about Zelena and Belle.  “At the end of this season I don’t know that she’ll find true love.  She’s still getting over that Hades thing.”  But says she doesn’t need a man.
  • Favorite ship on the show:  “Zelena and her broomstick.”
  • Favorite bloopers:  “When i forget a line I say such awful things.  There is a reason I’m not on the blooper reel much because when I forget a line I immediately swear.  Once my sister came to visit me in Vancouver in September and we were in Mr. Gold’s shop and Regina, she was the Evil Queen, and there was Rumple, and my sister was by what we call video village where the monitors are and I walked up to the Evil Queen and ‘FUCK!  I forgot what my fucking line was!’ and I heard my sister in the back scream and that made it so much worse.  I don’t even remember what the question was.”
  • Favorite life advise:  “Be yourself.  Piss off hater.  Do you.  Just do you boo.  And whatever you are doing in life just don’t give up.  And when things are really awful and you just want it to be over and you don’t want to do it anymore it never feels the same the next day.  Hashtag ThisToShallPass.”
  • What it was like working with Barbara Hershey:  “Awh mama.  Barbara Hershey was wicked.  She’s really kind.  She had really good candy.  I had a bit of a love affair with Barbara Hershey.  We fell in love and she would like hold my hand.  We had these beautiful scenes with Barbara, Lana and me, and before we shoot while the cameras were rolling we would just hold hands and look into each other’s eyes and just say ‘I love you’.  The three of us together was magical.”
  • Would she like to have a romance with King Arthur:  “A bit weird because Liam is a very good friend and I know his fiance so I’m going to say no.”
  • She’s only ever been to an airport in Sweden.  But she’d like to go there and see more then the airport.
  • What does she think about the Black Fairy:  “I love her.  I’ve known the actress who plays her Jaime Murray, for seven years.  Jaime Murray is an amazing actress.  But it’s nice.  We’re the same age.  We’re both English.”  About the final battle:  “Buckle up for safety, it’s about to get real.”
  • Memorizing dialogue:  She learns each line and then the second, and then goes back to the first and does both, and then goes onto the third, and repeats until she learns all of it.  She credits doing soup opera acting.

How do you edit your gameplay pics of Bun? I really love how radiant it looks and it's really pleasing <3

first, oh my god, thank u so much!!! ♥ second, i think you might’ve set yourself up to something unexpected, because this tutorial is loooong. but!! here we go!

this has been asked before, but i always put it off hoping that ONE DAY i’d have a consistent editing style… but i’m afraid that’s never going to happen. so this walkthrough will be messy, and weird, and have a lot of ‘optional’ stuff in it, but i will try to include everything i might do. also, i suggest you look at this link as well, because it includes every action and psd i might use while editing, as well as the blurring methods i use, my topaz settings, and a description of how i soften my pictures. so if something doesn’t make sense here, check there, and you might find your answer.

note: this is long and very picture heavy!

An In-Depth Explanation + Discussion of Morty Smith’s (Rick and Morty) Canon “Disability” - ADHD and Autism

In the popular Adult Swim cartoon, Rick and Morty, it is clearly and distinctly said that Morty Smith, the second half of the show’s two main characters, has a (context: learning) disability!

I ended up making a GIFset of evidence from throughout the shows current two season run supporting this statement, and bringing forth the speculation that said disability(s) is both ADHD and Autism!

I’ve gotten many question, comments, and criticism in the short time that the post has been up and have decided to answer them all here!

I’ll be explaining my post in-depth, GIF by GIF, with the episodes and context included, as well as citations to relevant articles/etc. to back them up/explain the symptoms (as well as ones not shown in the original post).

It is rather long, so using “Ctrl + F” (Windows) or “Command + F” (Mac) to find the specific symptom/explanation you’re looking for is advised!

Explanation is under the cut!

you said youve been listening to podcasts - what are some good ones?

A lot of these were recommended to me by people on tumblr so for those who did that, thank you!

  • I can’t stop listening to You’re the Expert, because it’s lighthearted, fun, easy to stop and pick up again later, and I’m actually learning things. In this one, they have a scientific expert with a focus on a very particular field (like a biologist who studies penguin mating habits) and then have a panel of 3 comedians try to guess what they do & interview them. I love this podcast because it features SO MANY professional women (seriously, the vast majority of the experts they bring on are women, and there’s always at least one female comedian in the panel). It’s also awesome to see these women interact and support each other
  • Grammar Girl is my favorite to listen to before bed. It’s benign and a little boring, but I do learn things, and I really like the host’s voice. They’re also very short. This is a great one to drift off to sleep to.
  • I’ve only listened to a few episodes of Food Non-Fiction, but I’m really into it! This one is very informative. Two grad students bring you wild historical information about food that you’ve probably never heard of before. I love history, I love food, this one is for me.
  • Sawbones is really popular, with good reason. A doctor and her husband talk about medical history, and debunk some crazy theories. I don’t like medical stuff so I thought I wouldn’t like this one, but I was charmed by how cute the couple is/they can also be very funny, and it wasn’t so graphic that I couldn’t enjoy it. Worth a try

I am also subscribed to Stuff You Missed in History Class (weird historical stories) & Lore (odd and often creepy folklore traditions), but I haven’t listened to enough of them to tell you my opinion yet.

The Sims 4: New Game Patch (May 25th, 2017)

Update: 05/25/2017 – PC Version 1.30.103.1010 / Mac Version 1.30.103.1210

Hello Simmers,

Welcome to the base game release for Parenthood! Which is all about those quiet family moments. Taking time to enjoy when things settle down. When all becomes quiet, and you can just take it all in, reflecting upon life…

..er, wait sorry. That’s like 20-30 years after parenthood begins (results may vary).

I meant to say, this is a hectic time. A time of crazy, noise filled chaos, where the concept of quiet exists for only 3 hours between 2 and 5 am. And where tension is worn like a badge of honor! So wear yours with pride, and let’s start with just a little bit of what’s new in this release…
