because i freaking love anime so much that its all i want to do

I’m glad we’re not getting a Season 2 this year

I’ve seen people disappointed about the movie, and wanting a Season 2 in October.

My perspective is… This is the BEST NEWS THAT I HAVE HEARD in this fandom, hallelujah.

The biggest enemy that Yuri on Ice has always had is its own success. When your show is basically printing money in DVD and merchandise sales, you can bet that the higher ups are breathing down your neck. Do more. Do it now. Do it faster. If you find a goose that lays golden eggs, by all means, make that thing lay as fast as it freaking can, and while you’re at it, can you make those eggs any bigger?

I have seen success absoutely ruin amazing shows/series/book series/etc. Over and over and over again.

This is particularly true when the show/series/book series has a strong romantic subplot, as Yuri on Ice does. That’s because often, in order to keep people who are invested in the romance invested, shows tend to do one of two things: 1. Keep people from getting together long after any reasonable person could imagine that they’d be apart, or 2. Add ridiculous drama to keep splitting them apart and then getting them back together.

I trust Kubo and Yamamoto. I don’t for one second trust bean counters. And I absolutely do NOT want to see someone splitting up Yuri and Victor in nonorganic ways just to keep some unnaturally stupid tension. Yuri on Ice was magical because it was made with love–every aspect of it–and every time the show surprised us, it was with how much more love was in the show than we’d ever imagined. But it is hard to manage that fine line between enough internal tension to move the story forward and that love that makes Yuri on Ice utterly magical.

When I heard details about the production, I could sense that love. They traveled to every venue, constructed the story around what was actually possible. The spirit of everywhere they went to pervades each scene. You can line up shots of where they were with anime scenes. The way they constructed characters, their skates, the music for their skates, how it all fits together to tell an overarching story about love in all its forms, something that is utterly compelling and yet lacks villains. Even details like putting the wedding rings on the right hand. This is storytelling at its very damned best, at every level, and I’m on my knees to it.

And you want them to do what they did in years for season 1 in a matter of months? It’s not possible. Not with the site visits. Not with needing to construct characters with respect and love. Not with commissioning music. Kubo was talking on Twitter today about visiting Mexico, and the idea of her taking Leo’s heritage as a Mexican American so seriously, and with such respect, in a time when Mexican-Americans are being absolutely vilified in this country, makes me almost weepy. That is what I want–that love, that respect for what they do.

The very, very worst thing that could happen to Yuri on Ice is for the second season to be made with money in mind rather than love. I would rather have no second season than to see someone push this show to become more “mainstream” (read: toning down the queerness, fuck that), or for them to not have the time to develop a story line that continues season 1 with the mastery and the love that made it so special.

The fact that they’re taking their time is the best thing I could have heard. We can get it fast or we can get it good. There’s plenty of media out there that comes out fast. There’s a reason this one was special. Everyone who wants something fast, well, there’s plenty of crap out there–feel free to be a fan of it.

Have a little patience, and trust the people who brought you this piece of genius, who have every financial incentive to take as much money as possible. If they say you’re not getting a season 2 this year, you better believe that it’s because they can’t do it well.

Two years may sound like an eternity, but a crappy season is the thing that actually lasts forever.

anonymous asked:

I don'tknow if you already answered this but do you have any anime recommandation?

i’ve never been asked for anime recommendations in my inbox before usually i just recommend some to ppl that message me or my friends irl but IM ACTUALLY REALLY EXCITED TO DO THISSS -

okay here are 15 anime i’ll recommend to you anonie :)

these are in no specific order

1: Boku No Hero Academia - character develoment? check. Non-neglecting of side characters? check. Bomb af graphics? double check. Loveable best boy? yep yup. Great fandom that collectively hates Mineta? yesh

2: Diamond no Ace - sports anime that actually shows the struggles of different teams? yesss. epic scenes that are so great it could be a meta anime but it still retains the basic functions of baseball? huehue double yes. the mc is such a ball of energy and genuinely wants to be the Ace and has so much development as a character that you honestly start wanting him to get that number? yes yes yes yes yes

3: Nichijou - one of the greatest work anime has produced. really its so effing hilarious and it really pinpoints the things everybody does in everyday life. like flip a police officer for mistakenly confiscating your boys love manga. accidentally stabbing your thumb with a mechanical pencil, the struggles of ordering at Starbucks or even..

yeah.. ordinary life ha

4: Magi - a smol baby boy tryna bring peace to the world? check. fucking strong girl that can beat any kind of wild beast there is? heck yeah! magic? yup. loads of backstory that actually makes sense and relates to the arcs? checkity check. villiains that really arent villains and good guys that truly are the bad guys? ho boi yessss. a magical recorder? you got it. also the graphics are great

5: Mob Psycho 100 - another smol baby boy just tryna navigate middle school. blessed with amazing psychic powers but powerless in terms of popularity and friendships. truly such a great anime that teaches a lot of moral stuff and has A M A Z I N G fight scenes. our boy mob is such a freaking god and the art style is very different but so expressive 10/10 would recommend

6: Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou - [Daily Lives of High School Boys] like nichijou, this is another anime that is at the height of comedy gold. every episode is such meme worthy. the main protag really isnt the main protagonist, so many puns, great side characters, and i cant express how much of a feel good anime this is

7: Bakemono no Ko - okay this is a movie. and when i say this is such a fascinating movie, i mean it. this really smol boy gets adopted by a bear after he runs from home. this big bad bear™ is actually so pure and best dad. the uncles are great and so punny i cant. okay, they also have some really epic sword fights.. i really cant explain this movie without giving spoilers lmao but go watch it if you want, you wont regret it

8: Hunter x Hunter - young fisher-boy and young assassin-boy walk into a hunter exam together, who survives? friendship.. and the newly acquired dads they found along the way [honestly go watch it, i was skeptical at first but i never loved anything more in my life] also the arcs are so monumental, really great plot and friendship!!

9: Yuri On Ice!!! - edgy ice skating and gay couples that reaffirm what love is? check. little smol bean yurio tryna act all mighty and tough? yep. amazing soundtrack? heck yeahh! great characters that in no way hate on homosexuals? you got it. amazing graphics? best boys? well dang, you got it!

10: Shokugeki no Soma - food. food. food wars. great scenes that have food giving you orgasms? basically a sports anime but about food? great mc that really deserves all the love he gets. when they tie a bandana on their forehead, shit is about to get started. food. food. food wars.

11: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - as i write this, i cry. this was so good and i was wary of watching it bc there was/is so much hype around it but alas IT WAS SOO GOOD I CANT. like two brothers? amazing morals? the fact that nothing is as it seems? kickass female characters. alchemy. the hype is real with this one, but its so worth it and i 10/10 would lower you down FMA hell.

12: Katekyo Hitman Reborn! - [also known as Reborn!] i found this by mistake and my life really hasnt been the same. mafia story. first few eps are just comedic and really dont tell you jack shit about the storm thats coming afterwards. holy heck, a main character that set standards for how to demolish your enemies? friendship! fight scenes that make you wanna fite anyone? so many powers that actually make sense? checkity check. friendship!!

13: Bungou Stray Dogs - hidden powers that main character doesnt know about? check. good dad dazai. another mafia story. a mafia boy tryna kill the mc because of his powers and dazai has become mc’s dad instead of his [okay i’m trolling lmao] but really this is a great mafia anime. theories. villainous characters that have been blackmailed into being bad.. really it has it all

14: Haikyuu!! - small chibi boy just wants to play volleyball in peace. “i can jump™” meets skyscraper black-haired blue-eyed god who rules the court. [trollingg] but honestly, this has to be one of the most accurate sports anime i’ve watched. spiky main and side characters that are completely adorable and its kinda hard not to get sucked in, but you will

15: Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! - gamer dude dies [by mistake] and on his way to the afterlife, he’s given a chance by a goddess to go to another world and defeat the demon king. grants him the possibility of taking any one thing to this new world, my guy picks the goddess [fukin dead] and whoops there ya go lmaoo. but no honestly, its great and funny and the explosion/action scenes are beyond E P I C. also best girl, Megumin, is there so you should def check it out

— obviously these recommended anime are in my opinion. im not some anime god but thanks anon for giving me a reason to finally do this *finger hearts* —

V Headcannons

In ode of the upcoming V Route (since in some areas, IT’S AUGUST WOO) I’ve decided to address some V Headcannons that I personally think are completely plausible and holy fuck I love this man here we go

•He loves to cuddle. He’s not used to it, but he sure as hell loves it. Fight me on this I want my boy to be hugged and safe and warm and-

•V probably has sloth merchandise. He likes the way they live and finds them extremely adorable and thank the gods for this pure man and for these pure animals Jesus fucking Christ

•V’s pictures each have #Aesthetic names like, it’s canon one of the names are “Her Shadow” and another “Hope’s Beginning” so fuck yeah he’s aesthetic as hell

•V wears a lot of overalls and sweaters while traveling abroad to take photographs. He likes the feeling and likes how he doesn’t need to wear a belt. I love this man holy shi

•He has a dream journal… if anyone read it they’d be weirded out smh this boy has some weird ass dreams lemme tell you

•Remember how V tried telling Jumin he had terminal cancer in Baehee’s Route? Yeahhh I really hope he faked being sick so he could stay home sometimes during his schooldays. In those days he’d prob take pictures or stare at a wall and think about sloths or smth

•V used to have a cat when he was younger so maybe then he could finally get some pussy
Oh my fucking gods just pour bleach in my eyeballs now fucking hell

•When his sight began to fail, V bought so many sunglasses holy shit he probably has those steampunk sunglasses or even those cheesy five dollar ones with the bright colors and weird shapes. But he probably also has a small collection of fucking expensive as hell sunglasses that are probably worth more than my college tuition jfc

•V tips like a champ like for real he probably tried tipping 200% once and nearly made the waiter faint because it was a multi hundred dollar meal with Jumin who you fucking KNOW eats that expensive good good

•V’s phone battery is probably higher than your stoner cousin rn because he never knows when he doesn’t have his professional camera on him and needs to take a picture of like a flower (or a sloth)

•I stg V probably has read Harry Potter a fuck ton of times no joke and has merchandise and owns all of the movies. If you say a quote, he’ll probably tell you the book, chapter, page, paragraph, and sentence tbh what a dork

•I really hope V had an emo phase and when he first looked at Mint Eye!Saeran was probably thinking “yo what the fuck did Rika show you my old facebook account or what” even tho he’s too nice to say that shit out loud

•V hates chiffon cakes

•I really hope V likes camping for his photography. Like, you won’t hear from him for weeks (lol I bet whenever V goes AWOL the RFA just thinks he’s camping) and once nearly got mauled by a bear trying to take a picture of it (Yoosung’s favorite picture jfc)

•V uses contact lens and one time tore his right lens while swimming and started crying because that was his last right lens fucking hell

•V is such a fucking cutie when it comes to dates like holy shit what a gentleman. Like he’s vanilla af to dating (like do you really think he would date around?) so he tries his best to swoon the MC and it fuCKING WORKS TAKE ME

•He likes to wear eyeliner and once wore sparkly fingernail polish because he’s glitter af

•Doesn’t really watch anime that much, but probably has like a top ten that he likes. He once tried to watch Attack on Titan and nearly cried what a soft boy I love him

•He likes left Twix because Jumin likes right Twix and he thinks it’s funny what a cutie <3

•He likes planting flowers randomly in his house. One time he planted a sunflower next to his head and woke up to a butterfly on his nose aww
Long story short he sneezed -o-

•Alongside his sunglasses collection, you fucking bet your left titty that he has a flower crown collection. Rika tried getting rid of them while they dated, but he hid them and wears them while he goes camping. Smol flower boy uwu

•When he was younger he wanted a fantasy-like wedding but now our smol boy just wants to be loved by someone who won’t FUCKING SCRATCH HIS EYES OUT UHHH

•Used to be a crybaby when he was younger, now he knows how to cry on the inside more
Someone please pet this boy’s cotton candy hair and tell him it’s gonna be alright ;-;

•You know those kids who would wake up hella early to watch cartoons?
V wasn’t one of them bye

•V wore reading glasses when he was little fight me on this

•V has a blog to help aspiring photographers and totally gives them #1 tips and is uber sweet abt it and holy fuck take my soul

•Once confused a fox and a cat while his eyesight was shit. He brought it in his house and everything. Jumin visited the next day and guess what he thought it was a cat too. It took a surprisingly long time for them to realize cats don’t look like foxes.
Hint he took the fox to the vet and found out after the secretary screamed

•Hates killing bugs but hates bugs

•V’s the kind of person who’s always buying lip balm but always losing them too like if you look under his couch he probably has like twenty down there

•Probably doesn’t take a lot of selfies, but when he does he looks bomb af and makes Zen reconsider his entire life

•Wanna bet my college savings that V has a really cute back tattoo?

•Once milked a cow. He asked permission and was uber polite to the cow, even apologized to it because he thought he was hurting it. Pet its baby and hugged the smol cow. V thinks cows are pretty.

•Once he came home after visiting Jumin and took a shower. Somehow his drain was filled with white cat hair.

•Once gave Saeyoung a kazoo. He regrets it.

•V is probably the type of person who leaves the empty cereal box in the panty and an empty carton of milk in the fridge. He means well but sometimes he just stares at it and decides somehow it’ll be easier to put it back instead of in the trash bin. He lives alone so it’s not like he’s being mean to anyone lol

•Cut his thumb with a spoon once (actually happened to me once, to this day I wonder how the fuck did I manage that) so V only has nineteen spoons now.

•Has a weird scar on his head from a shelf breaking while he was under it. Jumin had a professional interior designer plan out a “safer” living room for him. V was too nice to tell Jumin that it was silly and too embarrassed to admit that he’s just bad at installing things.

•Not a headcannon, just wondering. Do you think V has blue armpit hair?

•Has flower pillowcases but otherwise has plain sheets. Flower boy -3-

•Has a hobby of photoshopping Jumin’s face onto cats. He once accidentally sent it in a chatroom with Zen in it. Freaked the hell out of Zen and apologized, even though he found it kinda funny.

•Every once in awhile, he likes making cool shapes with his smoking pipe and shows them to Zen, smoking bros.

•He doesn’t play video games, but used to indulge himself in a few of Yoosung’s talks about LOLOL. What a sweetie

•Likes crunchy things, probably has like a lot of crunchy, dried fruits and vegetables in his pantry. Him and Zen snack between V using Zen as a model for photos. ZEN has V recommend him brands and his favorites.

•V tried chewing gum a few times, but always ended up swallowing it by accident so he decides he’d rather not. He also doesn’t like how sweet a lot of the brands are.

•A total dork and probably has a lot of movie dates with MC. They probably eat some of his crunchy fruits I mentioned above and drink champagne out of mugs. Once V got scared during a movie and spilled his drink on MC (and in the fruit but he doesn’t care about that) and offered to let her wear some of his pajamas. Nearly had a nosebleed when he saw (ha…) her

•Kinda wimpy when it comes to horror movies, but likes watching them in a big theatre so he knows he isn’t alone.

•Did I already say he is a cuddlebug? Yeah? Too bad, I love this dork and he needs cuddles -^-

That’s basically all I can manage rn if I have any typos it’s because I’m too lazy to proofread.

I learned something while writing these headcannons. It takes a special talent to write them, a talent I do not have but whatever they’re fun to write.

Wow what a shit year! Not for anime, I mean, it was okay at worst. I think we’re definitely at the upward slope of the anime renaissance now, but still at the very start of it. It’s hard to think about that when most of what comes out (and is somehow popular) is just…the most generic shit. Well, I did the work for you. I weeded and trudged through some of the worst anime around and even some of my shit favorites to bring you the actual good, worth watching anime of the year.

Yeah, not everything you saw or want to see on this list is here, but you can check my foreword from last week that explains all that garbage. Links to each anime’s respective review will be on the titles (and added for those that just finished). Know that this list is pretty fluid. From 8 or 7 up, it’s all very much I loved them, but the higher up, the more I recommend anyone watch them.

10. Magical Girl Raising Project

Madoka was cool. I finally watched it this year and I was just as blown away by the psychological aspects as I expected to be. It just lacked that extra bite it needed to really scare my pants off. MGRP however, did indeed take a few years off of my life. I’m really in ruins right now since I can grab you by the shoulders and tell you now: you’ll like a lot of these characters and their thought out designs and personalities, but don’t get attached, cus ALMOST ALL OF THEM DIE.

I have to put MGRP on this list because aside from its fun and original designs, awesome interactions, cool-ass premise and execution (sometimes literally), it had some amazing rewatch value. I watched this anime three times, which is a lot to do in one year. I just had to watch people’s reactions and seeing stuff hidden in the background and revisiting some foreshadowing was so much fun. Definitely worth a watch and I’ll cover more about it in my upcoming review.

9. Orange

Regrets, like I have over not putting Kekkai Sensen into last year’s list, are the main theme of Orange. Buried under the shoujo themes of romance, high school, and angst, lies the actual regret: letting a friend kill himself. The main story unfolds itself very slowly as the group of friends discover that is what they must prevent, but it’s done in a realistic way. The signs of depression and suicide are so jokingly cast aside; it’s no wonder people miss it before it’s too late.

The climax of this story was heart-pounding and gut-wrenching. You find yourself rooting so hard for there to be success, to save someone who may not want to be saved, but must be saved. It might also make you pay closer attention to those around you. It’s an important anime to watch. If you do want one with a little less romantic emphasis though, I recommend you see Colorful instead (or also!).

8. Sweetness and Lightning

I need to marry someone who can cook. It doesn’t have to be a five-star chef, though I wouldn’t complain if it were the case, but Sweetness and Lightning reignited my need to be fed well. The show is about how food brings family and friends together. Aside from the great character interactions, well written children characters, and for god’s sake, the beautiful, perfect looking food, this anime was so pure in the amount of love put into it.

The food tops even some shown in Shokugaki no Soma, purely cus it’s doable for someone with a low skill level (like me), the meals are made for picky eaters (like me), and there’s not a ridiculously emphasis put on the orgasmic nature of food. That’s a thing that Shokugeki no Soma and even Koufuku Graffiti used stylistically in a comedic manner, but it doesn’t fit in Sweetness and Lightning for good reason. This show is accessible in that way, making it easier to show to someone who might want to try anime, but doesn’t want all the sexy fanservice.

Kick-ass and Metal come to mind when Drifters is mentioned. I love Kohta Hirano’s previous work, Hellsing, a lot. It was a massive gore and blood fest with a sprinkling of comedy in the mix. This is a war and gore fest with a, not a sprinkling of comedy, but more like Hirano accidentally knocked the bottle of comedy over when he was checking on the oven directly into said mix. It’s really funny, but also really awesome. I have a lot to say about it in my review, but I think a dog fight with dragons involved kind of state my case for me. Also Elves, Dwarves and other Tolkien demihumans and monsters abound. It’s fun.

The animation is also gorgeous, especially that stylized, graphic novel looking opening theme with the rock anthem “Gospel of the Throttle” making you “NA NA NA NA NA NA” along with the characters every opening. It’s an excellent show to watch with friends or get yourself pumped. Returning sometime next year!

6. Kuromukuro

How can something be so trope-y, yet so damn enjoyable? Kuromukuro isn’t an original concept, but is done in an original way. The samurai trapped in a machine for 500 years is the new exchange student. The reluctant heroine needs to board the mecha to fight the alien threat. The school festival has been compromised by an alien mecha entering the atmosphere. This anime is funny, but it’s also emotional and holds a much wider scope than I ever could have expected. P.A. Works has been putting out some good contenders in the last few years, and with their lovely art style and well-balanced budget, they were able to pull off this massive mech story in an engaging and entertaining way.

I applaud the cast for one of the best ensembles on this list, bringing forth some of the best and most memorable character chemistry of the season, and some hilarious situational humor. I also cried a little near the end, but honestly, a lot of anime on this list did that to me this year.

5. My Hero Academia

Shonen anime is such a delight now, always a favorite of mine as a kid, but not as firmly as now. I love the underdogs; I love the over the top villains; I love the powers, the fights, and the yelling to infinity. It’s just so exciting and blood pumping, and MHA made it so refreshing with such an interesting spin. These characters are children, inexperienced, with quirks that may or may not be useful. I love Deku because his anxieties and general feelings of being less than everyone else not only make it exciting to see him overcome them, but to use them to keep his head and ego from getting over inflated like some shonen protagonists. Bakugo is such a good foil to him, showing where this could be a major weakness to a shonen protagonist.

Also it’s coming back with THE TOURNAMENT ARC, and if you’re like me and haven’t started the manga yet, DO IT! You won’t regret it! I’m more than excited to see more of this awesome anime in action.

4. Flip Flappers

This anime, wow this anime. I’m so upset not more people are talking about it, but have you seen this delight for the senses? I’m looking forward to reviewing it now just because my jaw is still kinda on the floor. Beautiful animation, a crazy cool style, and some of the best nonsense in magical-girl but not really fight scenes I’ve seen in a while. This anime reminds me of something, but I can’t quite put my thumb on it. I do know it’s like an amalgamation of my editor’s anime “TYPE” so you’ll see more about that in the review.

But good lord did I love the heart of this show. The pure romance, the exciting battles, the trippy psychological horror. Let me just say, that one episode (the Maria Watches Over Us “GOKIGENYO”), probably has scarred me for life, but I love it. It’s just so different and good. It deserves a watch, just for how delighted your eyes will be.

3. Erased (Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi)

I love a story that can get you emotionally invested and cheering for or yelling at the character who you don’t have any control over. Erased was paced beautifully (though some might disagree due to the slight differences in adaptation), and its animation only made every silent, tender moment more enjoyable to look at before the lighting and mood would change and the feeling of bloodlust would stain the air. That’s how you write suspense.

I’m a little annoyed because apparently some other people were reading some character motivations “differently,” (looking at you crunchyroll), but I think it’s safe to say this doesn’t cross the line into romance, at all, and stays a thriller about growing up in a life-threatening situation.

2. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

I love the theatre, and I love comedy and storytelling. This anime manages to hit both of these points while showcasing some of the best animation I’ve ever seen. On top of the animation, there’s good directing, and supporting that is a great soundtrack. The story is vast and covers several characters’ lives over several decades surrounding World War 2.

The rakugo, though, is what makes the story. It’s not the first anime to touch on this topic, but it’s the first to do so in such an interesting way. It was very refreshing compared to a lot of titles on this list (though many of them are refreshing ideas!) with its originality. It’s heartfelt, it’s serious, it’s funny, but it also makes me want to cry. If it weren’t for the top spot being so hype as hell and generally a weekly freak-out among me and my friends, this would have been number one.

1. Mob Psycho 100
What can I say about Mob Psycho that hasn’t already been said? Its opening is gold, its animation is unique and interesting, its writing, directing, and characters are all praise-worthy. It is just hands down the best anime of the year. You may be thinking, “but Mitsu, One Punch Man was number one LAST YEAR. Isn’t Mob a little overhyped?”

No. Sit down and shut up. One is probably one of the best writers on the scene right now and is doing a lot better at writing genuinely empathetic characters and commentary on modern anime genres and tropes than most of the big budget barf fests. I think the “overhyped” talk is nonsense when it comes to mob. It genuinely does some interesting and groundbreaking work. That’s why it’s not only on this list, but number one. It never moved an inch since I decided it should be on the list.

Everything I’ve said has BEEN said by several really good reviewers and critics out there and you should definitely check out what they have to say about it too, because honestly, they’re a lot better than I am. I like Mob Psycho, I like One Punch Man, but I like Mob more. I’m so delighted that One Punch Man will be returning shortly and I only wish for Mob to also share the spotlight, as it deserves.

An Arranged Marriage Chapter 7

Dean Winchester x Reader

1300 Words

Story Summary: An AU of sorts. Where hunter’s have communities, and arrange marriages for their young. Y/N is from the Northwest region, arranged to marry Dean, from the midwest region.

Catch Up Here: Masterpost

Sinking down on your mattress, you curled into a small ball, trying to reason with yourself. Sure, this was all new and unexpected, but you had known that your life would be forever changed once you became married.

You just hadn’t expected Dean to be so handsome, and so hard to read. You hadn’t expected to live away from everything you knew, the community life you had always known.

Then there was the business of Angels as best friends, and the fact that you and Dean were meant to be. That thought didn’t bother you nearly as much as you had let on. Sure, it had all seemed overwhelming, but even with his grumpy and stubborn ways, you could easily see Dean was a good man. A man you could easily fall in love with.

Pines Extended Family Roadtrip Shenanigans

So @garrulousgibberish wanted Pines Family roadtrip shenanigans, so here you are Ran! Also, I was blabbering with the lovely @impishnature about all of this as well XD

Despite what anybody else says, WENDY is actually the navigator and is solely responsible for them getting anywhere in any reasonable amount of time without any ‘wrong turns’ or 'we’re just going to see where this thing is i’m sure i can find its’ - she puts up with no one’s bullshit but will, for the sake of fun, let them go off on adventures that are off the mapped-out route. She’s just the one that makes sure that they know how to get BACK on track.

Mabel is queen of the snacks. She has a literal suitcase full of homemade trail mix (complete with brightly colored N&Ns, dried cranberries, and the obligatory glitter), gummi-based snacks, truck-stop candy packages, chocolate, (for some reason prunes????), and of COURSE several gallons of Mabel juice. She also is a QUEEN at roadtrip games and keeps everyone entertained with them.

Dipper is the one in charge of the radio and personally put together a FOUR DAY MIXTAPE so that they would never be without music. To everyone’s surprise, it contains a mix of everyone’s favorite songs (they were honestly expecting four days of Icelandic Pop music; this was a great relief). There’s sea shanties and sad space songs and the whole soundtrack of Secondary School Singing Theater (which gets squeals of delight from Candy, Grenda, Pacifica, and Mabel) along with some indie music, classic rock and roll, and one song that everyone liked but no one could actually remember how it went once it was over (the tape it was on may or may not have disappeared that night; the song had come on when they were driving through a particularly treacherous mountain pass and none of them could particularly remember actually GETTING OUT OF IT but when the song ended they were safely pulling into an RV camping ground at the base of the pass, so none of them were really complaining. Although it was rather strange that they couldn’t seem to find the camping ground on the map when they retraced their route later for everyone back home.)

Soos is the one who keeps everybody’s spirits up with his undying enthusiasm for the next thing on their list of 'Things To See’. He’s also the one who keeps an eye out for Pancake Houses and the signs for cool little cafes and drive-ins to try out. Somehow he ends up finding ALL SIX liminal space restaurants along that particular stretch of highway. Everybody except Ford is a little freaked out by the realization, but after the first few liminal space restaurants end up being really cool and safe and the staff are nice, everyone relaxes. The employees at these places don’t seem to mind how obnoxious and frankly ridiculous the Pines Extended family is and they end up being greeted warmly at all the rest of the liminal space stops (all of the liminal spaces for travellers are actually connected, and the employees of each of them call ahead and let each other know who the nice travellers are and who to avoid). Soos gets left at the last liminal space restaurant but thanks to a few kind employees, he’s able to make it to a liminal space rest stop ahead of the RV and is waiting for the rest of the family there to pick him up. They do. No one questions it. This is Soos.

Ford and Stan mostly take turns driving, except when Soos and Wendy decided that BOTH of them have reached the Grumpy Old Man Driving quota and are banned from driving for the rest of the day and night. (Wendy has her license by this point and, contrary to popular belief, is actually a very good driver.). Ford is fascinated by every anomaly they encounter but he lets several research opportunities go in favor of perfectly normal roadtrip shenanigans. His family is stranger and more fascinating and endearing than any anomaly he can come across.

Ford also introduces (or re-introduces) everyone to filk, singing a lot himself. Wendy accompanies him on guitar, Pacifica (surprisingly) on harmonica (she and Stan have a bit of a bonding moment over it) and Fiddleford on banjo. Once everyone realizes what filk actually IS, they proceed to spend the rest of the roadtrip off-and-on writing their own roadtrip songs. Since they have no recording equipment other than cell phones, Fiddleford takes it upon himself to invent a recording device that captures video as well and also happens to double as a burglar-safe for the RV.

Fiddleford knows a scary amount of anime opening theme songs, which he can sing - COMPLETELY IN JAPANESE, WITH A PERFECT ACCENT. No on is actually surprised by this. He also has learned Korean after Candy introduced him to Korean dramas and Manwha, which he now watches with her regularly and they converse about in Korean. (Candy also assisted him in building the recording-device/burglar defense, as she has become his assistant and is learning the finer points of robotics and revenge plotting from him).

Pacifica is the one who makes sure people actually BATHE and change their clothes at the campsites each night, because no way in Weirdmaggedon is she riding in an RV full of smelly, poorly dressed people, no THANK YOU. Especially YOU, DIPPER PINES. She also is the one who ends up covering any unexpected expenses on the trip (her family isn’t POOR after Weirdmaggedon; they’re still rich, just significantly less so. Also, she’s started her own highly successful business, so she’s decent off herself).

Candy is the medic on the trip. Which isn’t too much of surprise, really, given that she’s pretty much the only one other than Ford and Wendy who can maintain a cool head in the face of a cut in need of stitches or a Bee-Bear sting. And it’s usually Ford or Wendy she’s having to take care of, so it makes sense. Candy is also the one on the one on the roadtrip who has read all of the travel pamplets and acts as the impromptu tour guide for every place they visit (she also assists Wendy in navigation at times; Candy is usually Wendy’s co-pilot, while Soos makes sure both of the Stans take a break and/or sleep).

Grenda is the one on the road trip who makes sure everyone’s phones are charged and who spends a decent amount of time on the phone herself (mostly with Marius, but occasionally with some of the other folks at home to let them know that yes, they are actually all still alive and doing well). When one of the tires goes out on the RV, Grenda lifts THE ENTIRE RV UP so that Stan and Soos can change the tire. Everyone is impressed, and slightly alarmed. Mabel and Candy high-five each other and scream GIRL POWER! At the top of their lungs. The sight of a teenager lifting up an RV single-handedly causes several  drivers to lose control of their cars and crash. The Pines extended family notices none of this and goes on their way.

That’s about all from me! I hope you enjoyed this XD

Sports anime: a primer

Ever wondered what all that stuff with the hot dudes is about? Need to figure out which anime you want to watch next, and if your s/o will look at you funny if you do?

Here’s a little primer I’ve compiled in an effort to do something with my sports anime obsession. It is highly scientific, in the sense that I have no degree in any kind of science but I did make shitty graphs, because I’m a nerd with

Side note: It is also not complete (duh), since I haven’t sat down to watch the 500 or so episodes of Daiya no Ace, or Prince of Tennis, or *insert title here*.

Side side note: Please don’t hate me.

Realistic portrayal of the sport

If you were familiar with the sport, would you actually recognize it when watching this show?

  • Free!: Swimming. Is actually fairly realistic, apart from the random dream sequences. Swimsuits and, uh, musculature are on point for the strokes the dudes specialize in. The newbies don’t magically win everything. Rei’s progress is kinda ridiculous though.
  • Haikyuu!!: Volleyball. Like zero lasers. But the freak quick is, uh, a freak quick. At least everyone acknowledges that.
  • Prince of Stride: Parkour. Is that… even a real sport? So far, the running sequences are on point though. Wind matters, people fail certain jumps and they’re always half dead by the time they make the connection.
  • Kuroko no Basuke: Basketball. Every Single Dude has a Pokemon ability. Some have several. Important baskets always hit. Also: this show has so many lasers. That is not actually how basketball goes.

General quality of storylines

Just how much back-story can you fit into the last three seconds of a match?

  • Free is mostly a drama with some swimming. The matches are like two-three episodes per season, with a massive focus on storylines and a back-story that spans all the way to kindergarten. There is talk of school, loss, fear, death, futures and one notable water gun episode (which is my favourite).
  • Haikyuu is like 40 percent regular episodes and 60 percent matches, and in the matches, more back-story happens. This show loves characters interacting with each other and has a huge focus on people’s stories and their influence on each other. Storylines centre on volleyball stuff as a backdrop for personal growth and anxiety, but sometimes go into regular school things, like grades.
  • For a show that is 90% matches, Kuroko no Bakuke really hammers home the idea of balance. Middle school sucks. The miracle kids are isolated by their talent, while the normals are fighting for relevance and several characters become straight up psychotic. All storylines centre on how basketball, played right, can make you a better person.
  • Prince of Stride basically has a match per episode, with like half of the episode devoted to storylines. Everyone has a dark past they need to get over. Ok, almost everyone. Fujiwara just likes nice legs.

How gay is this show?

  • Kuroko no Basuke: almost aggressively hetero. They are trying very hard to be a boy show, all right? From the art style and the shouting to the random boobs and the mentioning of girlfriends for several characters. On the upside, there appears to be one (1) canon gay character and there is a luxurious hot springs episode that can be enjoyed by all.
  • Haikyuu!!: pretty gay, but it’s easy to ignore. The emphasis on friendship and the way people are usually introduced in pairs makes this so easy to ship, but it’s not overtly courting female and gay viewers.
  • Free!: gay enough to make your more delicate straight bro’s squeamish. It is a show about deep bonds between nearly naked men, after all. Very high on the eye candy and the feelings but apart from a few tacky episodes, this show takes itself rather serious.
  • Prince of Stride: all of the gay. All of it. This show is very self aware too. It has models and boy bands and friggin Kuga with his wind machine. There is a lot of talk about connections and emotions.

Character development

How invested will you get in these characters?

  • Haikyuu!! : A million characters get an arc and they are surprisingly well executed. Almost all of the characters are deeply likeable and you will adopt so many of them. SO MANY. Protect them!
Free!: A very different kind of character development. There’s less characters and the arcs are more drawn out, more subtle, and so much more dramatic. Haru and Rin basically take one season, each, to get their shit together.
Kuroko no Basuke: This is a fairly action oriented show but it takes its time around season 3 to get into details. The arcs could be summed up as ‘defeat makes you a better person’ for each of the miracle boys and 'grit’ for the normal kids. Some arcs, like Aomine’s, are deeply satisfying and you will undoubtedly adopt/ship some of these dorks.
Prince of Stride: It tries, ok. It tries really hard, with lots of emo back-story, but so far, I’m having a hard time really caring for them (but the season is exactly halfway when I write this).
Little Problems - Kim Yugyeom x Reader

When was the last time he texted?

Her phone was clicked on once again, staring at her dimly lit screen, hoping to receive a notification from Yugyeom.

Yes, maybe he could be busy learning choreography, or spending the time with his hyungs or maybe not near his phone at the moment - all good acceptable reasons to why he isn’t texting after four hours.

There’s no reason to panic.

She put her phone down in front of her, resuming her studies and homework in front of her, busying herself.

Alright, Mathematics, she thought, hovering her purple mechanical pencil over the lined paper, about to write the equation down from the textbook. “If the absolute value of x minus three plus 10x is equal to–” The words started to mix up in her head. Well great, there goes trying to keep yourself distracted, (Y/N).

Alright, plan B.

Taking her phone, she stuffed it into the back pocket of her jean shorts, slipping on her varsity jacket and shoes and out the door. Ah, fresh air; that should do the trick. She slipped her hands into her pockets - thumb sticking out - and started to walk down her driveway and onto the street of the Crescent she resided in.

Her hands couldn’t help but reach for her phone, tapping her screen and making the phone come to life, showing no new notifications. People called that clingy - what a stupid term for it -it wasn’t her fault her brain jumped to horrible conclusions… Okay, she hasn’t gotten that far yet, but it’s slowly getting there. She then slipped her phone back into her pocket and felt her chest tighten slightly.

God, why did this have to happen? Why did ‘it’ decide to come today? Today of all days? The day was -  to a certain extent - decent! And now, here she is, freaking out over not getting texted. What if he didn’t want to text her anymore because her bad habit to double text? Or what if he finally found someone else? Or maybe he hates her? The possibilities are literally endless.

And there goes her mind going to that side of the scale - full freak-out mode.
Calm down, she told herself, taking in the scenery around her. She then started to ground her surroundings around her. Five things she can see; the blue sky that held white, fluffy clouds, owners and their dogs walking, trees with leaves starting to change color, basketball nets that littered the end of the driveway of most houses and her red dragon she got from her dad for good luck. Four things she can touch; her jeans, the gravel beneath her sneakers, her phone in her back pocket and her ball cap that was resting on her head. Three things you can hear; the birds chirping all around her, the sound of a car’s engine from the busy street beyond her crescent and the sound of kids talking and playing basketball. Two things she can smell; barbeque which was probably coming from her own backyard since her father was BBQ-ing and the manure on the grass which was spread this early morning. One thing she can taste; the saliva in her mouth which was tasteless.

And mind slowly calming down; there is no reason to assume he hates us, no, he’s just busy.

Keep telling yourself that, honey.

“He’s just, uh, busy,” She spoke out loud, not wanting her thoughts to get the better of her. Speaking to herself was - even though she practically looked insane to half the people who walked by her - more calming and much more safer than staying in her mind. “Yeah, that’s all, he’s just busy.”

Or, he’s just over–

Her phone ding-ed. Oh, please be Yugyeom.

Recieved 3:45pm
Yugyeom: Jagi! I’m sorry for not texting, are you alright?

Alright? Uh, yeah, let’s go with that—

Sent 3:48pm
(Y/N): Oh, yeah! Sorry about the double texts

Sent: 3:49pm
(Y/N): I had free time during 4th period and didn’t know what to do so I texted you–

Recieved 3:53pm
Yugyeom: Alright? I’ll be home by 7:00pm, okay?

Sent: 3:57pm
(Y/N): Alright! I’ll see you then, Yugy!

And now, back to trying to do math at home without stressing out or getting de-motivated, Part Two!

“And, done.” The female sighed, finishing up re-checking her work and re-reading her notes she had made in class. Hopefully the way she had done the problems were correct.

Pushing her chair back slightly, she stood up and walked over to her closet, picking out her PJs, quickly changing out of them quickly. Her phone then buzzed as the alarm went off, signalling that it was now 7pm, around the time Yugyeom had said he was going to be. Great, her smile slowly made its way onto her face as she made her way out of her room, making sure to take her phone with her before going downstairs and sitting on the couch. “What to watch?” She asked no body in particular as the TV was pressed on. Turning on Netflix, the girl scrolled through what was on her list - anime, British TV shows, Supernatural, Superhero movies or Disney - and clicked on Supernatural. That should probably keep her entertained as she waited.

The first episode was halfway through.

A full episode of Supernatural is 43 mins. Half of 43 is–

“Didn’t he say 7pm?” She thought out loud, glancing over to her phone which she had placed next to the table beside her. Clicking it on, the phone displayed the time as she paused the video - which was horribly paused at the wrong time of Dean Winchester making a horrible derp face - and got up, walking over to the window which displayed the front of their house, including the front yard - which needed to be trimmed soon - and their driveway. She bit her lip as she laid the palm of her hand, which wasn’t holding her phone, against the glass.

This is not the time to freak-out. He isn’t that late. Just by a couple minuets. Nothing major. But what if something happened?

“He’s fine,” She told herself, clutching the sleeves of her sweater she was wearing. It was getting to her again, well shit. Her phone fell to the ground with a big thud, which sounded very distant to her.

Please come home soon. She then put her back against the wall, sliding down until her bottom hit the floor and immediately brought her legs to her chest. Her chest tightened. Please get home soon.

Breathing became a little tougher as she laid her forehead against her knees. “In f-four,” She barely managed to say as she started to undergo the breathing exercises she had learned from her counsellor a while back. In four, she inhaled air as best as she could for four seconds, held her breath for four seconds and–

What if he’s with another girl?

Her mind decided to capture her into its arms at her moment of weakness, now in control.

He could be taking long because of another girl, probably on a date with her.

Don’t you think? He wouldn’t be gone this long if it weren’t a date.

He probably got tired of your antics.

“Baby, I’m home,” Yugyeom walked through the door, kicking off his shoes and placing his jacket on the oak coat hanger. “Baby?” He called again, peeking into the living room and found her on the ground. First thing he did, he pulled her into his arms and held her, whispering sweet nothings just to calm her down, running his hands up and down her arms - a little reminder that he’s here - and just held her near his chest, so that her ears could hear his heartbeat, match her breathing with his. “It’s okay.” He whispered over and over, slowly watching her calm down and snap back into reality.

“Kind of,” She whispered, head nestled in Yugyeom’s chest, looking up at him with teary eyes. “Why do you deal with me? You know, all this?” He chuckled at the question, shaking his head side to side at her silliness. He’s answered this a million times every time she’s asked and always gave her the same answer and he would do it every single time she needed to hear him say it.

“Because,” He started off, clearing his throat. “I love you and when I asked you out, I knew what I was getting into.” Yugyeom glanced down at her, wiping the stray tear that had fallen down her cheek with his thumb.

“I knew how you were and I was ready to do whatever I needed to do keep you as mine, jagiya,” He then brought his hands up to her hair, trying to untangle the little knots in her hair. “And I love you to the ends of space and back and nothing, even your mind, will make me run away. No matter what.”

A/N: I really have not been feeling well so I sincerely apologize for everything. Everything’s just a little unbearable right now.

Goblin was one of those kdramas I would have never started watching if it weren’t for the endless rants of kdrama fans about its aesthetic appeal and top notch cinematography. However, I’m not gonna lie that the main reason I started watching the drama was because of Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun. I’m a very big fan of Go Eun’s acting, I believe she can pull off any character and make it her own. So with little expectations I gave Goblin a chance and I’m not exaggerating when I say that it was one of the best decisions I probably made in a while.

I tend to pull away from kdramas that are historical and supernatural themed, Goblin was a mix of both so when I was watching the trailers I had doubts that I would like it. I like saving the whole supernatural cravings for my anime shows and during that time Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok Joo was very much occupying my time.

Goblin honestly had me at Episode 01, I couldn’t stop watching it after that. I have to give it up to the writers of the show, the plot was amazing and fans weren’t kidding when they said Goblin’s whole visual experience was truly beautiful because damn right it was. Goblin affected me in such a strange and wonderful way that the last time I felt like this was during Reply 1988. I honestly felt like they could’ve made it a 22 episode drama coz it’s so hard to fully accept that it actually ended a few weeks ago. How to cope?!?!

After watching Goblin (and freaking being moved to tears) heres 5 things I learned.

1. Sometimes, the things happening to us could both be a curse and a blessing.

Eun Tak, Kim Go Eun’s character was told to be the Goblin’s bride in the story and she believed that it was the answer to all her hardships in life and it was, but the problem was it also meant saying good bye to the person who will end those hardships for her. In this short life of ours, sometimes the things happening to us could be both a good thing and a bad thing. Let’s follow Eun Tak’s example by focusing on the good things and less on the bad.

2. Seeing ghosts aren’t all the time a scary thing

Eun Tak found company in the presence of ghosts, and for a scaredy-cat like me I have to say the ghost part was a turn off at first but then I realized that these ghosts became the family and friends Eun Tak never had that’s why somehow she was relieved she could see and talk to them because the love she didn’t find in living humans, she found among the dead.

3. There’s always a story behind every good or bad action

If there’s one thing Goblin taught me about bad people, it’s that sometimes their just people making bad choices and that there are reasons they do these bad things for. I’m not saying that it’s an okay thing to do, but maybe we shouldn’t jump to conclusions without seeing the bigger picture. The Grim Reaper was Wang Yeo in his past life, and he suffered so much paying for his sins that he didn’t deny but did regret in the present.

4. Even if a love is short it doesn’t mean its not true

This is probably the most important thing I learned in watching Goblin. A short and sad love doesn’t mean it wasn’t the greatest love that person experienced and felt in his or her life. No matter how short or painful that love was, it could be the greatest kind the person has ever felt.

5. The best kind of friends are the unexpected ones

I’d have to say one of the best things in Goblin is the bromance of the Grim Reaper and the Goblin himself. Things just got more interesting when the Grim Reaper turned out to be an unpleasant character from his past that he couldn’t forgive. However, without knowing that detail about the Grim Reaper, the Goblin actually enjoyed his company and eventually would seek to him for advice. Their friendship was so true that it put me to tears when the Grim Reaper himself didn’t want the Goblin to die.

I have to say it’s gonna take awhile before a good drama can yet again inspire me how Goblin did since I still can’t let it go. I’m so happy I got to watch Goblin and gave it a chance. No doubt one of the best story lines I’ve ever witnessed, another good job once again Korea!

Hello I love your art and love the new kiribaku kids. I did research on mako sharks and it said "The shortfin mako is on record as the fastest-swimming shark, capable of bursts of speed up to 18.8 metres per second (42 mph)." Its jaw is powerful enough to eat swordfish and sea turtles. And "Like other lamnid sharks, the shortfin mako shark has a heat-exchange circulatory system that allows the shark to be 7-10 °F warmer than the surrounding water. ". So I think mako would be an excellent hero

Never said she won’t be! As I’ve already explained tho the concept is that she’s young and most of he quirk-related abilities just haven’t developed yet - if she’d been living with her biological parents (which means, other people with a shark quirk) they would have already known what to expect from the quirk/she would have knows watching them, but as things stand she’s being raised by two people who’ve never known anyone else with that quirk, so they’re going at it completely blind. As far as Bakugou and Kirishima know her quirk’s abilities could stop at what she has now, but that doesn’t change that they’ll do their best to help her become the best hero of her generation, if that’s what she wants

Anon said: I can’t believe the KiriBaku kids are literally Sharkgirl and Lavaboy, it’s very cute. I also wanna say that Mako looks very much like one of the student from Ketsubutsu Academy, Nakagame Tatami, who has a “turtle quirk”. Could it be that Mako is Tatami’s biological kid and that when Tatami died (presumably from battle) Mako got adopted? Their quirks are a little similar (water-animal based), and hero’s kids usually have very strong quirks even from a young age. Just a theory, love the kids tho!

I know you didn’t mean anything bad by this and I love how into them you are (thank you for liking them!) but please never, ever tell an artist that their OCs are literally some other characters, that’s the worst thing any creator can ever be told. Like, while I don’t exactly mind it since I knew this would happen even before posting them (as I said, I do know they remind of them - even though Tai’s quirk isn’t only about heating things up - and I’m still of the opinion that Kiri and Baku are pretty damn similar to Sharkboy and Lavagirl themselves so kids inspired by them were bound to remind of them, when coming from me) you might in the future find someone who’ll take it bad enough that they’ll just trash the characters and never work with them ever again, which I’m sure you don’t want

Just, mind your words next time you send this sort of asks, okay?
