because i can't unsee it

The summer storm, Sahriv. Only taken me approximately 5 evers to continue the portrait series I planned from the start of this blog, but belated or not–this is the Devavani’s custom, darling little Volt Prime. He’s a high-strung, high-energy, high-maintenance bundle of anxiety who will paw/scratch at his operator’s somatic link pod’s door until it opens, only to curl up and go back to sleep (presumably satisfied that his operator hasn’t abandoned them all in the night). Additionally, this “curling up and going back to sleep” often takes place in his operator’s lap–or, at least, the attempt is made.

A lap dog cat frame he is not, but he has big dreams and you can’t take that away from him.

(Fortunately, Saif’s some sort of immortal void demon child so hopefully suffocation or electrocution isn’t a big concern.)

It feels like he’s confessed that he’s dying of a disease I’ve never heard of, with symptoms I can’t see.

Um, has it been mentioned before that in this scene Daryl’s mouth is open a bit and he’s relaxed, and then his eyes flit to Carol’s mouth, and when she moves towards him suddenly, he tenses up, his mouth closes into a thin line, his eyes narrow as he watches her face come closer, and his body circles hers in anticipation?

…like perhaps he was eyeing her lips, and her sudden movement towards him got him tense, and nervous but hopeful,so he coils up and hones in on her face, watches her, anticipates her next move..?

ugh. this nervous in-love physically wounded man…

Ugh. There was this thing that everyone collectively called 'the slideshow' in my school. To be fair, that's what it was. What this didn't tell us was that it was the teacher's presentation on STDs and the like, which consisted of pictures of said diseases at their VERY WORST, and the teacher simply saying the disease names. I didn't want to see that, because you can't unsee something, and I don't want it sitting in the back of my mind. I don't have much else to add to the conversation.

See, that’s alarmist tactics at work right there.  If your teacher gave no context for what these diseases were, how EXACTLY they were transmitted (”having sex can do this to you!” doesn’t cut it), what the various severities of them were, how to TREAT them if they were to happen… then of COURSE the lesson isn’t gonna stick, because the only thing people take away from that is:

“well that’s just the worst.  It’s not gonna happen to me.”

And when it does, they have NO IDEA what to do, because the only comfort they have is their teacher’s nagging voice in the back of their mind going “I told you this would happen if you had sex!!”
