It annoys me when people trash Adam Driver because not hugging back John Boyega somehow makes him bitter, rude or antagonistic.
1)Every cast member has pointed out that he is really friendly and cooperative but also really intense ans serious on set.
2)He is not a social guy. He is awkward and he has even explained that f.e. Comic-Con was uncomfortable for him (even though he actually did his best and the fans that had met him were happy).
As someone with social anxiety, the blame going around annoys me. Even when my friends or family hug me out of the blue, especially when I’m anxious, my nerves are so tense that my first instinct may be to pull back or I just stand there uncomfortably and awkwardly.
So, as you can imagine, it is really annoying to me when people are deemed to be unfeeling or are even vilified when they struggle, for one reason or another, with social behavior that is expected of them.
No one owes to his social circle to mechanically react in a certain way and to be pretentious and fake just to live up to dogmatic expectations of what is “normal”.
