beat kicks

ALRIGHT MY DUDES I’M NOT GONNA BORE YOU WITH THE RABBIT HOLE I WENT DOWN TO FIND THIS BUT JUST LOOK AT IRL KEITH

His name is Ernie Reyes Jr. but he played a character named Keno (KENO?? KEITH?? COINCIDENCE?? I THINK NOT) in the 1991 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (again, don’t ask how I got here)

He’s a pizza delivery boy that gets caught up in turtle shenanigans and literally only exists for one movie but please just look at him.

The black t-shirt, the bright red jacket, tHE MULLET. Did I also mention he’s Filipino because I could go for some Filipino!Keith headcanons like sign me the fuck up

AND WHAT’S THIS??? Have you always wanted to know what Keith would look like reacting to meeting cryptids irl well HERE YOU FUCKING GO. THROWBACK TO THE OG CRYPTIDS OF MY CHILDHOOD: GIANT RATMAN AND HIS GREEN DISCIPLES

Here’s him ready to fight a bitch in a tank top because he loves fisticuffs and is a hella good martial artist. Within the first like four minutes of the movie, he sees these dudes robbing a store and goes up to them ALONE telling them “you’re under arrest” HOLDING A BUNCH OF PIZZAS and attempts to take all of them out alone. I mean he beats the shit out of them but like then a bunch more guys come running out and then he’s like oH SHIT I DIDNT THINK THIS THROUGH but luckily the turtles come to save his ass.

Did I also mention that out of all the turtles he is most similar to Raphael? The red turtle. The most impatient and impulsive turtle. Always ready to fight. PLEASE. Also Raphael doesn’t really like him at first but then Keno suggests he use himself as bait to find the baddies and suddenly Raphael is like “I hate to agree with him but he’s gotta point.” So even though Splinter is like “TOO DANGEROUS” the two of them break off from the rest of the team and do the mission anyways (um) and accidentally find The Big Bad™ (uM) and then get into hot shit (UM) and Raphael sacrifices himself for Keno (UMMMMMMMMMM). But don’t worry Keno brings everyone back to save him.

And then later there’s a scene where Splinter tries to teach him how to meditate but Keno physically can’t do it and runs off to fight instead because fuck patience he needs to kick something. Here’s this idiot literally back flipping onto the stage to fight Shredder one-on-one like wtf he’s so extra™

He also had an action figure even though he was only in one movie and HOLY SHIT THIS IS MORE KEITH LIKE THAN THE KEITH ACTION FIGURE????

In conclusion: WHAT THE FUCK WAS KEITH DOING WITH THE NINJA TURTLES IN 1991?? IDK BUT I FOUND HIM

Bonus: Keno sticking his leggy out

Listen just fucking listen to me, hearing Take on me by a-ha is such a fucking trip I swear to god I have an out of body experience every time that song comes on. When the beat kicks on and you hear that “tr-r-r-ring~!” you can see it in my eyes that I know I am fucked for the next 3 minutes and 47 seconds. My limbs start grooving one by one under a control that is not mine. The synth starts playing and I’m done, I’m gone, I am the whitest person on the dancefloor, I am Regan from the exorcist, I am squidward from those gifsets, I am every person in a harlem shake video. My body moves on it’s own accord producing a disgusting and liminal performance that is an insult to God Himself. This is my fate and I embrace it. Finally, the beat dissolves and I am free. I collapse to the floor and revel in an afterglow that transcends anything I can comprehend while the synth slowly fades out.

Ok forgive me but I just need gush about Anissa Pierce (AKA Thunder), a DC superhero, because first of all look at her, she’s amazing:

A badass woman of color whose power is to control her own density (which sounds kind of strange at first until you realize that means she can make herself completely invincible and kick everyone’s ass by dropping herself on top of them holy shit)

Not only that but she’s got a medical degree because she wanted to graduate before becoming a superhero so like???? she’s a fucking doctor oh my god

And she’s multilingual (English, French, and Spanish) so that’s amazing

But wait! There’s more!!

She has a girlfriend who is also a woman of color and is also super badass:

That’s Grace Choi, a seven foot tall (so big!!!) Amazonian and Asian-American woman who is clearly amazing.

Grace is an abuse survivor with superhuman strength, durability, and healing so good luck trying to beat her up, she’ll kick anyone’s ass

So anyway the two of them are cute together and they’re each super awesome LGBTQ+ women of color which is great

Also here they are playing video games because that’s adorable:

anonymous asked:

Can you write about lance (from voltron) getting angry? like snaping, because I feel like we haven't seen lance truly angry yet, all the times we have seen him mad, but it seemed more agitated to me, and so I would love it if you wrote about lance snapping, just him being so sick of everything and someone makes a bad comment at the wrong time and he just snaps and he is terrifying, please? (p.s can it be super angst?)

Sorry if this is quite what you wanted, but here you go anon!

I image Lance as someone who would let himself get beat up but would kick someone’s ass if they dared to touch his friend, as well as being quietly intimidating since he often is loud and the contrast shows how serious he’s being.

Warning for some light swearing!

Lance made his way towards the kitchen, he was up a bit earlier than usual, though not overly so. He had gotten enough scoldings from Allura to know he needed to get his shit together. He often feels like he’s holding back the team and he is willing to make double the effort to become useful.

As he approached the entrance to the kitchen, he heard the muffled sounds of his teammates talking. Hoping Hunk was working his magic and preparing something other than the bland food goo, he sped up a tad. His fantasies of Hunk’s cooking ended abruptly when he got close enough to clearly make out what one of the voices was saying

“-know he’s trying, but he has to step it up! He’s lagging behind all of us.” He heard Shiro say

Lance stopped in his tracks. Shiro, Lance’s hero, just openly spoke about some of Lance’s biggest insecurities.

He spun around to go back to his room, however, dozens of cheesy soap operas and cliché scenes of drama being started from someone misinterpreting, mishearing, or misunderstanding made him stay.

He pressed his back against the wall, and he slid down it until he was sitting. He was a couple feet away from the doorway so while he could make out what his team was saying, he still had time to react and get up if he heard footsteps.

“I say we make him train more,” was Keith’s less than helpful input in lance’s opinion. He has trained a lot on his own, but he just wasn’t improving fast enough.

“Guys, Lance tries really hard, lay off a little,” Lance appreciated Hunk’s support and confidence in him, though it didn’t make Shiro and Keith’s comments sting any less

“Hunk, we know you’re the closest to Lance, but doesn’t that make your opinion a little more biased?”

“Lance isn’t at the same level as us, and he needs to get there.”

Hunk desperately tried to defend him but Lance knew it was a lost cause at this point, the more he listened to, the more he got frustrated. He contemplated getting up and leaving to calm himself down in his room now that he knew this wasn’t a misinterpretation; he was the subject of the conversation, more specifically, his inadequacy.

“Shouldn’t you get back to cooking or something? Shiro and I were discussing this and you kind of butted in,” Lance snapped to attention at that comment, did Keith seriously just say that?

Before Lance even processed what he was doing, he stormed into the kitchen, walked up into Keith’s startled face, his own looking furious, “What the hell did you just say?” his tone was even in a terrifying way

Keith seemed to understand it was a rhetorical question, Shiro seemed unnerved by Lance’s uncharacteristically serious tone.

“Lance, it was nothing-”

“That’s bull, Hunk, and you know it. That was entirely uncalled for.” Lance turned back towards the other two presences in the room, “Listen and listen well. If you even breathe another word that belittles, demeans, puts down, or even suggests Hunk did anything wrong when he hasn’t done a damn thing, then you’d better hope and pray I am as far behind in training as you suggest I am.” His tone was chilling, his eyes locked onto Keith’s, his icy glare effectively putting out the fire in Keith’s.

Keith soon snapped out of it and seemed to contemplate something before speaking, “So are you saying that if we insult Hunk you’ll be more motivated to train harder?” that was the wrong thing to say.

The ice in Lance’s gaze melted, being replaced with a fire that could burn anyone it was directed at, “If you dare to suggest what I think you are, my position on the team will not be your main concern.” his voice had started low, rising with every word, “Are we clear?” his words were short and tight, intimidating everyone in the room.

Nods from both Shiro and Keith were enough for Lance, he wasn’t going to let it go right away but he knew they understood.

“Alright, good,” Lance questioned if he should address what had spurred Hunk being dismissed and decided he would if only a little.

Lance locked eyes with Keith “What you say cuts deep,” he glanced at Shiro “Both of you. I looked up to you both, but I can take it. I know my faults, I know where I need improvement, and Hunk’s right, I do try…”

Lance’s voice had gotten soft as it trailed off, his eye’s having found themselves trained on the floor directly in front of his feet, he could feel the pitying gaze of the other three “All you are doing is vocalizing thoughts I’ve had a thousand times over,” Lance shook himself out of it and looked up again, Shiro and Keith stood in front of him ”but what I can’t take is you putting down my best friend when he has done nothing wrong.”

Lance had just about burned out, getting angry was exhausting. He was done with being frustrated for today, he turned on his heel and stalked out of the room, initially heading back to his room before opting to go to the only place he knew he couldn’t be disturbed. Blue.

John Is Not A Doctor Anymore

To me, one of the things that give S4 this weird feeling is the fact that John does not seem to be a doctor anymore. Looking back on the other series, we have always seen him taking care of people as a doctor, at work in his surgery, saving lives on cases with Sherlock. Sherlock has sung John’s praise in his best man speech. In every single series John has been two things - a doctor and a soldier. (Someone please write a meta about John being a soldier or not in S4). It is an essential part of his personality. So where did it go?

TST

John, the doctor and future dad, is driving the car, leaving Sherlock who has no idea of obstetrics and is neither very acquainted with female bodies to take care of Mary. The reasonable choice - and the one we have seen during setlock - would have been for Sherlock to drive the car and for John to assist Mary.

Surely seeing your wife having been shot in the chest is a severe shock. But John, the doctor, does not even try to take measures like adding pressure on the wound, calling an ambulance, doing anything. I cannot tell if a shot like this would have been fatal in such a short time but John’s reaction seems strangely lacking.

TLD

This is even worse. Granted, John is grieving and overwhelmed by Mary’s death, having become a single father of a little child. But once he has seen Sherlock’s condition, there is no excuse for his behaviour. The fact that he accuses Sherlock once again of faking his death shows that there are issues that still have not been solved. Molly tells John that Sherlock is dying. This is her professional opinion, the one John expressly wanted to hear. And what does he do? He lets Sherlock shoot up in the hospital loo. He kicks and beats a man who is half-dead and his best friend. He leaves him helpless in the same building with a man who might or might not be a killer but whose behaviour in the morgue has proved that he is at least despicable. He only goes to 221b (where he learns by chance that Sherlock is in deadly danger) because Mycroft sends a car for him. There is no universe where John Watson would do all this to Sherlock Holmes.

TFP

Again, nothing. John does not even get the chance to act (or fail) as a doctor due to the overall weirdness of the episode.

Conclusion

To me, the fact that John Watson MD seems to have disappeared contributes to the feeling of irreality and him being OOC. So when did it start?

Let’s have a look at TAB. If we assume - as a surface reading of TAB and S4 wants to make us believe - that the last plane scene is real, we have John doing nothing about the fact that Sherlock just OD’d or that he has been using during his imprisonment.

And if we go back even further - to HLV - we see that the last time John has acted liked a responsible doctor was when he attended to Sherlock in Magnussen’s office, called the ambulance, and cared for Sherlock in the ambulance. After that, we never again see John as a doctor. During the domestic in 221b he is completely focussed on Mary, realising the seriousness of Sherlock’s condition only when his friend collapses.

To me, this has always been a turning point - John Watson not caring for Sherlock Holmes and staying with the woman who shot his friend. And it also seems to be the moment he stopped really being a doctor.

I love picturing a protective Mattew around Stephanie

‘The stupidity of entitled men will never fail to surprise me.’ Stephanie thought, her internal barb both sour and a little on edge as the man scooted to her closer on his bar stool. Over the course of the five minutes since the stranger had sat down way too close to her already, she’s heard about half a dozen pick up lines, multiple comments about how ‘a pretty girl like her shouldn’t be alone at the bar’, and five offers for a drink. In return, she’d offered a half dozen disinterested stares, multiple replies of how ‘I’m here with someone, he’s just answering a phone call’, and five turn downs for drinks and explanations that she was not, in fact, interested in either a drink or him.

“Why don’t we head on out of here, hmm? If the bar hasn’t got anything you like, I’m sure I do back home.” ‘Am I being too subtle or something?’ Steph wondered, her flat, almost bored stare turning into something a little fiercer and angrier. The stranger moved even closer and put a hand on her wrist where her hands were resting on the bar and Stephanie felt her anger intensify. “I must be speaking French or something, so let me try this again.” She gritted out, drawing herself up to her full height and glaring at the unperturbed man. “I’m not interested, I’m married, I’m here with my husband. Go away.”

For a minute, she almost thought he was going to leave. The surprise on the strangers face made her think he had actually not gotten what she’d been saying, that he somehow had thought she was into him. That hope died quickly as the man shrugged. She could feel his fingers tapping on her skin, the charming smile suddenly felt a lot creepier. “I don’t see your husband anywhere, besides he doesn’t need to know. Girl’s gotta have some fun, eh? Lemme buy you a drink, then you might be more interested.”

The cajoling tone to his voice sent a shiver of disgust down Stephanie’s spine, and she went to hop off the stool only for the man’s grip on her wrist to tighten unexpectedly. 'Where’s Matthew?’ She thought suddenly, looking frantically around the room and feeling her heartbeat slow slightly as she saw her husband making his way over to them, brow furrowed and shoulders tense.

“Stephanie, sorry I was gone so long.” Matthew interrupted smoothly, wrapping an arm around Stephanie’s waist and shuffling closer to her side. 'Thank god.’ She sighed to herself, shooting Matt a relieved smile. “Anyways, we should get going. Busy day tomorrow and all.” He added with a pointed look at the man, his eyes flickering between his face and his hand where it was still wrapped around Stephanie’s wrist. If it wasn’t for that fierce glare, she could almost believe he wasn’t internally seething. There was something eerie about an angry Matt that she’d always found interesting, something that was incredibly cordial and friendly on the surface and yet left a kind of burning in his eyes that made even the bravest man flee.

The stranger glared back, and Stephanie winced as his grip on her arm tightened. “Oh fuck off, I’ve been working this one for awhile now. I got dibs.” 'No accounting for the stupidest man, I guess.’ She thought. The arm around her waist tensed slightly and that neighbourly smile seemed a little more brittle around the edges, like a broken bottle: sharp and dangerous and just itching for a fight. “Actually no, you really don’t and I’d appreciate it if you stopped harassing my wife before I kick your fucking teeth in. Choice is yours, friend.” Matthew replied, still smiling that poisonous smile. The burning in her husbands eyes seemed to flicker out and freeze over with something so cold Stephanie almost shivered and the man seemed to realize he may have made a mistake as he stopped glaring.

WATCH: The men seen in this disturbing Voice of America - VOA video beating protesters outside the Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC, are bodyguards from Turkish Pres. Erdogan’s entourage, US officials tell Andrea Mitchell Reports. http://bit.ly/2qtC7Ut

As the video shows, the guards continued to beat and kick protesters, despite efforts by US police officers to intervene.
