Sure I can! Didn’t do a whole lot in the way of character studies except for the Beast Boy, Kid Flash, and Robin sketches I posted here (links to those in the names). Above are the process shots for the cover itself, which I’ll detail briefly here-

1) Initial rough. I mistakenly thought that Damian was Tim Draking it up at the time with longer hair and a staff for some reason, and was swiftly set right.

2) Second rough. This was mostly just for Damian’s pose, something to make it clear that he’s the leader and set apart from the rest slightly. I was also told at this point, maybe for the time ever, that it was okay to let them smile. The initial prompt was that they were in “ready for action” poses and for some reason I interpreted this as them all looking scowly. I was more than happy to throw some grins in there.

3) Pencils. Not much to say other than Beast Boy’s face took the longest to get right but was also the most fun to draw.

4) Colors/Final. Between this and the pencils you can see what I ended up leaving out during the inks stage and did with color instead (mostly costume elements). If I’m coloring myself I much prefer doing some of the drawing there rather than deal with line holds.

Saw this as a promt but it has to be written! Raven comes to tje tower with really bad pain, when cy examinaes her it show those are childbirth pains. The boys freak out big time, and star is confused. Then she explains how she was buying 1/2

Something down town when she saw a pregnant women with terrible contractions unable to make it to the hospital. She uses a spell to transfer the worst part of the pain to her saving both mother and child. The rest take care of her and admire her. 2/2

As soon as Raven set foot inside the tower, Beast Boy knew something was amiss. He could smell the faint tang of pain in the air, and could see it plain as day when she crawled off the elevator.

“Rae, what’s wrong?” he cried, scrambling to her side. Raven trembled in his arms, her skin clammy and pale and her breathing labored.

“Y-yeah,” she grunted. She tried to free herself from his grasp, but Beast Boy wasn’t having it.

“Raven, you’re shaking like a leaf! What’s going on? Are you sick?”

She shook her head, before gasping and clutching at her stomach. Beast Boy held her tighter and clamored to his feet. “C’mon, we’re getting Cy.” He cradled her close as he trotted through the tower, doing his best not to jostle her. Raven only protested weakly for a moment before giving in, burying her face in the crook of his neck. In any other circumstance, Beast Boy would have thought she looked cute, all cuddled up against him.

But right now, fear and adrenaline was pumping through his veins as he raced to the garage.

Batkids on their playdates team missions!

A few fun facts:

  • Roy often skips Boy Scout meetings to hang out with Kori and Jason (Don’t tell Ollie)
  • Kyle Rayner is usually hanging with the Troublemakers but had a cold on this particular day and Hal wouldn’t let him leave the house.
  • Cass is wearing Bruce’s old costume (here) that she found in the attic while playing hide and seek with her brothers. Alfred has since made a few alterations to it, of course.
  • That stuffed cat looking thing behind Damian was made by Dick. Alfred has been teaching him how to sew and he practices by making tons of plush for his siblings! (They’re finally starting to look like actual animals)
  • Don’t worry, Alfred fixed Mr. Moo.
