bearded tooth mushroom

Bearded Tooth fungi | Hericium erinaceus

I was walking through Myers park in downtown Tallahassee when I stumbled on these curious fungus. I recognized the fruit body as a bearded tooth mushroom due to it’s characteristic hairy appearance. This one was fruiting about 6 feet off the ground on a dying oak trunk.

My girlfriend was amused by the glorious fungus and she even ate some of the bearded tooth stir fry with me.

Wild fungus is much better than what you buy at the store.
