beam in thine own eye

anonymous asked:

Remove the beam from thine own eye before remarking upon the mote in your neighbor's, O ye who doth espouse an ideology with a death toll far higher than that of the Nazis.

Smoketh weed every day, ye who espouse Nazi propaganda anonymously on the tumblington

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye,
but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother,
Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye;
and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

louis girls are the fucking worst

Is this about @halfbritish giving Liam a letter telling him how he needs to better himself in the wake of the Attitude interview? The girl who has openly expressed hatred for Liam (and Zayn)? Well, some Louis girls suck. 5/5 have stans that need to get their minds right. It’s pretty frustrating.

But in the case of this very special piece of work, she’s one of those people that make me question being in this fandom. Because that kinda foolery is so beneath me that I shouldn’t have to endure seeing it on my dash. There’s so much ignorance there it’s painful–it’s infuriating. No one should still be explaining in 2015 that 1D’s public personas are highly manipulated by their team. That applies to 5/5. There’s so much empirical evidence to support this that it isn’t even a question at this point. Therefore, when you read something sketchy from any of the guys, rather than go into tantrum mode with torches and pitchforks, how about thinking things through for a refreshing change? Who benefits from certain narratives? And who is demonized? Who is marginalized? Ffs, THINK! Like I said, it’s 2015, long past time for people to stop pretending they don’t get it. Also stop pretending others shouldn’t call out your intellectual dishonesty. In the name of fairness and common sense, yes they should.

I’ve said before that this fandom has its share of arrested adolescents, but it’s always kinda stunning to see it in action. Like, I’m 21. I’m in college where obviously I’m surrounded by twenty-somethings. And believe me when I tell you nobody I encounter at school day to day behaves as childishly as the adults of the 1D fandom. For that matter, neither does my sister, my cousins, my boyfriend or even my 17 year old little brother. Are you not reading what I’m saying? This. Is. Not. The. Norm. Don’t be tricked by the shenanigans going on in this fandom. Don’t accept this as the status quo. I have to remind myself of this because I find myself sinking to a low vibrating level from time to time. But nobody’s gonna drag me down.

Over and over again I see grown ass women treating 1D like they aren’t living, breathing, thinking, feeling, human beings. Over and over I see a sense of ownership and entitlement that’s so disrespectful. Over and over again I see sad and thirsty women trying to interject themselves into 1D’s lives, not understanding they’ve been invited as fans and fans ONLY. They aren’t a friend, a confidant or an advisor. What they are is dysfunctional with boundary issues. What they need to do is get on that ‘physician heal thyself’ shit and stay in their lane since they clearly don’t have the intellectual or emotional capacity to weigh in on it in any way that’s valid, relevant or edifying. Once again we have someone trying to tear down the thing they claim to love in the name of look-at-me. Jezebel syndrome. None of this will heal their brokenness. Yes, @halfbritish , this means you. And really, I don’t relish doing this, but fuck. There’s a real need to speak out here. A counterpoint is needed so at least people will consider another pov.

I’m ashamed of you. You make me ashamed of this fandom. You overstepped your bounds. It was extra, uncalled for and wholly unnecessary. You should be remorseful. But you’re probably not even in a place to even comprehend the error of your ways. So I genuinely pity you.

Matthew 7:3-5

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

That is all.

Matthew 7:1-3 ( “Judge not, that you not be judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” for the uninitiated) does not in anyway automatically negate the rest of what is written in the New Testament, and I am sick and tired of people, who probably have never read the Bible, acting like this is the be all, end all rebuttal to everything. Jesus called that which was evil, evil. and that which is good, good. He did not care about being tolerant (on at least one recorded incident, he used violence to get his way. I’d love to watch Jesus do that again, and then tell Him that that’s not what Jesus would do.) and truthfully, neither do I.
