Former KKK Meeting Place | Tarrant, AL | 2002

Still staining the brick it was originally painted on, “white only” marks the staircase to a former Ku Klux Klan meeting place above a long-defunct department store in Tarrant, AL – only 15 minutes north of Birmingham.  The meeting place is now a recording studio and when the studio moved into the space, the walls were so badly stained with cigarette smoke that they exposed the unstained areas where frames and the chapter’s emblem were on the walls.
