U. S. Marines with Company K, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, sit in an assault amphibious vehicle before conducting a mechanized raid exercise on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Oct. 16, 2012. Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment and Combat Logistics Battalion 24 are seen carrying explosives through the eye hole of a demolition bunker during a demolition range in Djibouti. A contingent of MEU Marines was ashore in Djibouti as part of sustainment training to maintain proficiency while deployed. The 24th MEU is embarked on the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
