A stress relief comic based on this idea by @klanced because I love it to bits and i wanted to be super self indulgent again

Please excuse any inconsistencies regarding how the voyager records work etc! I’m bad with this kinda stuff and this is really just a stress reliever

This is a two-color relief print of a raven against a background of abstract foliage. The paper has a slightly embossed effect due to the pressure applied to the back while being printed.

The print is 15" x 22" (38 x 55.88 cm)
Printed on Rives BFK, a 100% cotton, acid-free paper
Printed with Caligo Safe-Wash oil based relief ink
This image is limited, but not editioned. It is likely no more than 10 will be made.

Fang Limin
“Go Home for New Year”
water-based woodblock print hand-printed on artist-own prepared red paper

Another great print by artist friend and fabulous printmaker Fang Limin whose studio I visited when I attended the Impact 2015 Conference in Hangzhou in September 2015.  Fang Limin’s image was printed repeatedly with a set of interchangeable woodblocks on artist-own prepared sheet of Chinese paper.

Fang Limin
“Hangzhou Tourists”
water-based woodblock print hand-printed on Chinese paper

While attending the Impact 2015 Conference in Hangzhou in September, I had a great honor to visit a long-time artist friend and a fabulous printmaker Fang Limin who showed me his studio and this great woodcut called “Hangzhou Tourists”.  The print was made on a large sheet of Chinese paper utilizing a set of blocks which were printed repeatedly allover the sheet. Amazing image, which I have presented here as a full sheet and with several details.  -Endi

Fang Limin visited Stamps School of Art and Design in March 2013 as a Roman J. Witt Visiting Artist and presented a well-attended workshop on water-based block relief printing. Stamps students also visited Fang Limin’s class at China Academy of Art in Hangzhou in 2014.

Relief sculpture of Varaha with Bhu and Gadadevi

From Orissa, eastern India, 13th century AD

God saves the Earth from the Sea

As a saviour deity, Vishnu appears in various incarnations (avatara) to save the earth from disaster. Varaha is the third of Vishnu’s ten incarnations and is well-known for a myth concerned with creation. When the whole world was flooded, the earth was trapped underwater by a sea-demon. Vishnu, in the form of a boar, dived down into the ocean and rescued the earth.

Varaha is depicted here as a man with a boar’s head lifting up the earth, which is depicted as the goddess Bhu. Varaha holds two of Vishnu’s attributes, the conch and the discus (chakra). Unusually, his other weapon is not shown as a club but personified as a small goddess, Gadadevi. at the base of this relief. At the base of the relief a female snake-goddess or nagini appears swimming in the sea, with her hands in the attitude of devotion.
