When I think your name, flowers bloom
Dancing on a shallow grave
Take me to your room
And if you keep me warm I’ll melt for you

Oro Grande, California

A visit to Tom’s Welding, just west of Barstow, California along old Route 58.  Since the 2004 photo of the previous post, the most conspicuous of the additions to this sprawling collection is the prized Whiting Brothers sign atop the Tom’s Welding sign.  Whiting Brothers was a chain of service stations along Route 66.  The chain has been defunct since the era of Route 66′s decommissioning in the 1980s although a working station still operates under the Whiting Brothers name in Moriarty, New Mexico.  These photos are mine from May 22, 2017.
