I can’t describe the feeling I have when I listen to/play music. The best way I could relate my experience would be that it feels like I’m being filled with a sense of joy, like I’m reaching something ethereal. I feel this way especially with the more classical repertoire.
If I could go back in time, I would pat the ten year old me on the back for insisting on becoming part of a world of harmony, melody, intonation, embouchure, adagio, and so on and so forth. To play as a large ensemble, to count your rest and anticipate when it’s your turn to play; to move your fingers to play your sixteenth notes in time and to just hear the ensemble as one are experiences that I’m so happy and glad I’ve experienced for at least eleven years and hope for many years to come. I’m just sad i didn’t learn to play more instruments. Maybe a future endeavor?
