acnl is a superior game to acnh in almost every way except the graphics. it’s actually making me mad

#purrs#working at the roost… mr shrunk… main street … multiple shop upgrades… megaphone (and microphone AND CAMERA on the ds)… villagers have#distinctive personalities and spread rumors and ask to schedule a time to come to your house… pattern grass… kappn island minigames… bananas#and mangos and durians and perfect fruit… the town tree and all the history in it… like idk. i love acnh too but it’s just so hollow and i#wasn’t even around for acnl in its glory days. like i STILL haven’t unlocked all the shops or shop upgrades on acnl or even met Gracie yet#or whatever and on acnh the only thing i need to do is get like 2 more reactions and then ive completed the game. and it just feels#pointless logging on and whatever (ik im saying things that have already been said a million times) bc the villagers are just dolls who say#the same 3 things over and over again. meanwhile eunice and benjamin are two of my og acnl villagers and they’re still there 5 years later#and i log on and talk to them and it’s so rewarding to bc they feel like actual.. people! who i love and who love me. whereas my acnh#villagers who i also love will just carry on exactly as they were no matter how long ive been gone. idk. i just don’t understand why they#decided to downgrade so much for acnh and let go of all these features and characters. i really hope they’ll make another game and that jtll#have everything new leaf had and more. and i mean the new horizons features can stay too (except for diy. i HATE diy)#ac#exterior building customization beyond just houses… sitting on rocks and tree strumps (and tree stumps having patterns)…. 😭💔#the basket where you could put stuff from kappn islands in there so it wouldn’t fill up your inventory….

The hardest part about dating a zombie mutant is making them behave so you both don't get killed by other humans that are unaware some zombies are actually friendly.

Destiny tries hard but Zeke tries harder and refuses to behave without some compensation in return.

For some short story context, Zeke is a mutant zombie who isn't quite alive but isn't quite dead either and Destiny is a human.

They are trying to survive in a post apocalypse world. It's kinda like an alternate timeline to my normal universe…but zombies happened at some point.

Gggrrgrhegeh god all the greens can fit her so well.... Olive for the feralness, Lime because her patron troll is Karkat I think and her being lime would make a great excuse for her to be isolated from everyone, and Jade is. Jade. Hehehehe - BB

both jade and lime make a good 'isolated' argument, since being born lime is considered a crime, and jades supposedly aren't even supposed to be out of the brooding caverns

lime is also fun though because it's like 'group full of freakish blood havers' (john being fuchsia, dave being a mutant.. i think my troll rose was actually just a purpleblood with nothing too off abt her tbh but shhh, its my species swap i can change it whenever i please)

Okay my mind is suddenly being blasted by whole cake island arc thoughts again, for some inexplicable reason. And like. I get it. I get that whole cake island is about sanji finally getting to feel like he can ask for help from his friends and wouldn’t be a burden, it wouldn’t be too much on them and he isn’t asking for too much, and yes, that’s good for him as a character for his development and yes it’s done well it’s just the main problem is the narrative consequences of his actions running up to it isnt, great.

Like people compare it to nami and Robin, like look, it’s the same thing, they “betray” the crew and pretend to be cruel to drive them away but Luffy stubbornly keeps chasing them until they break down and admit help but, nami, she was in the crew for like. A month at the most. Robin, she was in the crew for a month at the most. It’s not to dismiss the weight of their stories, just to point out the context. Sanji, this is years of a relationship with people, and when they chase after him, he doesn’t try to give an explanation, even discretely. (I was expecting something like that during his fight with Luffy, but no cigar.) He intentionally behaves in the way that he thinks will hurt his friends emotionally, because he decides that the best way for a “goodbye” is if he makes them hate him so much that they wouldn’t regret leaving him. (Which of course doesn’t convince anyone, but what matters is the weight of his intent, not what the reaction was.) Like. Even though you know a friend is intentionally pushing you away, having a friend behave like this hurts. And it’s true that only Luffy and nami gets to see this, and it’s true that Luffy as a character of course isn’t someone who’s gonna hold that sort of thing against anybody. He’s very direct. Nami does hold it against Sanji, but it’s narratively more of a joke. There’s not a narrative consequence to it. It got frustrating for me to not have a payoff in that regard. But in the end I have to concede it’s definitely a shonen sort of trajectory. It’s just hard to swallow especially given usopp’s narrative consequence and him subsequently having to apologize. Having that as precedent made it harder for me to accept.

#this stupid banana man#like. i know. i know the situation with usopp is different#but both of them did actively attack their captain#both of them had underlying insecurities motivating them#sanji just looks ‘better’ because it’s him sacrificing himself#and martyrdom looks ‘good’#but at a certain point martyrdom is a type of selfishness too#when you have a friend who lashes out at you to drive you away ‘for your own good’#even if you realize that they’re putting on an act#that really still hurts.#they’re using ammunition on you that they know will hurt because they’ve been your friend#they’re intentionally betraying your trust#and the other half of the crew just doesn’t have any news for months#and everything is sort of brushed aside because of wano things#‘everything went fine Sanji is back we don’t have to know what happened’#i know not everybody in the crew has to know everything about everybody#but after years together it gets hard for me to accept them just putting things aside once the adventure of the week is over#i know it doesn’t make for good shonen. i don’t know what I’m asking for or expecting.#but whole cake island just really. it really wasn’t pleasing#and I think that’s partly because the internal Sanji conflict maybe felt a bit too long#and after a certain point I just couldn’t believe it was still a debate for Sanji#but the main sticking point for me is that#having Sanji intentionally attack his friends emotionally without setting a narrative consequence I just really#don’t like it#malky talks about one piece
