Along with my good friend Vicky McFarlane, I designed this rather cracking 38-page newspaper for the journalism students at Bournemouth University in little over 12 hours. It was a challenge to say the least, but now it’s all in print it’s an achievement I’m hugely proud of and a great excuse to brush up on my InDesign skills once again.

Hello, and welcome to the blog!

I’m a student at Bournemouth University studying Multi-media Journalism and am working towards producing a range of multi-media content based on the sport of Roller Derby.

Roller Derby features in a hypothetical series for Radio 1’s Newsbeat called GirlPOWER which is based on showing feisty, energetic, out-of-the-ordinary stuff that girls do. And roller derby is one of them.

Please follow this blog for updates on the project which will include a 3 minute radio feature on a live bout, a podcast on the derby names, an article on the history of roller derby, a picture gallery of essential kit and a video diary of myself trying out the sport!

Also follow @RollerDerbyUK on twitter for updates.
