Makeup + Photoshoot

Before photo of Natasha, my amazing makeup + photoshoot client for today. Product details below.

One of my favorite things about being a makeup artist and photographer is the people that I get to work with. Today I had the pleasure of doing makeup for and shooting Natasha, one of the bravest and most amazing women I’ve ever met. Natasha is a mother and a Navy veteran, where she used to be a translator in Serbia. She is also an aspiring pinup model, which she stumbled into because of her love of vintage and retro hairstyles.

Because Natasha is biracial (Hawaiian and Caucasian), she has a very olive complexion. She also has beautiful, thick hair of the deepest black. I wanted to do a dark, smokey eye with a hint of burgundy and a bold red lip. Side note: this look is not for the faint of heart because it requires a lot of makeup to achieve. It also requires very precise lines and attention to detail.

Product details:

Face: I used all Temptu products, from the highlighting and contouring to the concealing, and finally, her airbrushed foundation. I only added a hint of color on her cheeks using NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna. I also used Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal to her temples and cheekbones using my Make Up For Ever fan brush as a finishing touch.

Eyes: For her smokey eyes, I used NARS And God Created Woman palette and a burgundy eyeshadow from the Morphe 35C Multi-Color Matte Palette. I used M.A.C. Shroom to highlight her browbone and the inner corners of her eyes. Tarte Cosmetics Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara to the top and bottom lashes and Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black for her winged eyeliner. Ardell Lashes in 135 (I stocked up on some different styles to try out).

Lips: Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Zivoli, which is a gorgeous, brick red color. Before applying her lipstick, I used Make Up For Ever Aqua Waterproof Lip Pencil in Burgundy 9C.

Projects in the Works...

Hello everyone! I have so many exciting projects coming up in the next few weeks and will be busy, busy, busy! My May calendar is almost completely booked already. The only days I have free are on Thursdays when I’m at Zoom Hair Studio and Day Spa.

Here is what’s going on (in addition to all the proms and weddings coming up):

-My first editorial shoot was a success and will be published this summer! I cannot post any photos from the shoot until publication so I will write a blog post all about it once the time comes.

-A colleague of mine put me in touch with the owner of Zoom Hair Studio and Day Spa in Canton so I will be offering BronzedBerry spray tans and Xtreme Lashes eyelash extensions there every Thursday. For my downtown makeup clients, I will also be doing trials and consultations there. Coming this June, I will be adding eyebrow threading to my list of services at the salon as well.

-I have partnered up with Amy of Amy Deputy Photography and we will be offering fine art portraiture for women starting in June. I have 4 photoshoots with her and we have booked some gorgeous models to work with. I am beyond excited about this new venture. Amy was the photographer for our engagement, wedding and family portraits. We really hit it off and have kept in touch throughout the years and recently decided to start a business together. Can’t wait to post the pictures from our collaborations!

-Anna Louise Jiongco and I have started Provocateur Boudoir together and will be offering boudoir photo packages starting in June. All of our boudoir collections include a consultation, location of your choosing (your home, a hotel, in-studio), complimentary mimosas, professional makeup and hairstyling, a one-hour photo session with Anna with 2-3 outfit changes, 20 full retouched digital images, and a selection of 4x6 and 5x7 prints, and start at $650. Please email me at eliza@aesthetic-distance.com for our online brochure.

-I have partnered up with Nicholas Barton and together we will be working on editorial shoots. Our first collaboration is in mid-June in DC and I am so thrilled to be a part of it!

-I have been practicing on several models every week for my licensing exam for Xtreme Lashes eyelash extensions. The exam is in July so wish me luck! Full sets start at $250 and refills start at $75. I have already begun taking clients so email me or visit my website to book. You can also call the Zoom Hair Studio and Day Spa at 410.342.7799 to book me there.
