ballon day

“ [They] took my will. And you know what they did next? The worst thing they did?
Made me used to it. I shout my power, I shout my toughness and my danger, but I’m shouting it to children. It’s like they just amputated the essential part of who I was.
Who I am.

Leo Messi Alphabet: –> B - Ballon d’Or

“On 7 January 2013, Messi became the first player in the history of football to win a fourth Ballon d’Or. And he celebrated it wearing a polka-dot dinner suit. Platini, Van Basten and Cruyff won it three times. Beckenbauer, Di Stéfano and Ronaldo twice. Cristiano Ronaldo once. In the previous six years, there had been little rotation, proof of how complicated it is to reach the top: Ronaldo was on the podium on five occasions, Iniesta two, Xavi four. Messi on all of them.

While Messi walked to the stage, the cameras cruelly zoomed in on Ronaldo’s twisted face, he was finding it hard to project a smile. Messi received 41 per cent of the votes, Ronaldo 23 and Andrés Iniesta 10. That was the year Rodrigo Messi told L’Équipe that his brother had been clear about it from the beginning: ‘I still remember when he told me he’d love to win the Ballon d’Or some day. He was thirteen years old.’

Although he was known to be favourite, Leo’s words did not flow easily: ‘I want to share and thank my Barcelona team-mates, especially Andrés. I am proud to be by your side today and train and play with you every day. To my Argentina team-mates. To those who voted for me, both captains and coaches.’ There Leo stopped. ‘I don’t know … I’m very nervous. Thanks to my family, my friends and lastly and especially my wife and son who is the most beautiful thing God has given me.’ Later he explained what had happened: ‘I went blank in the middle because of the joy and because of the nerves. The truth is that I’m not used to speaking in front of so many people. I told the truth, but I was nervous.’ Thiago ‘doesn’t understand anything yet,’ he said later in a press conference, but he wanted to name him and his girlfriend Antonella, too. He also wanted to pay tribute to Tito Vilanova and Éric Abidal but the nerves betrayed him: Obviously, this one is for Tito, too. As I said recently, at that moment the words wouldn’t come out. It is for Tito and Abidal. It was a tough blow for us but I hope to see them now, it makes us very happy. The biggest prize we can receive is them being here with us.’

Eden Hazard has his eye on the big prize on Friday, as the Blues could clinch the Premier League title with a win away at West Brom, but the Belgium winger is also hoping a major personal accolade is attainable one day, too. Specifically, the Ballon d'Or, an award for the best footballer of the year, which has been won only by Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi in the last 10 years. The award may rest in Spain, but Hazard, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, doesn’t believe he has to leave England to vie for the trophy.

Eden Hazard: “I hope to win the Ballon d'Or one day. It’s in my mind. If I don’t, it won’t be a problem. I try to make a good career - the best I can - but I think some other players deserve to win it also. When Ronaldo and Messi retire, maybe it will be another couple of players like Neymar, Paulo Dybala, or Antoine Griezmann, who knows? We will see. It’s not something I think too much about. Could I win it? If I play next season, we win the Champions League, and I win the World Cup with Belgium, why not? In the last 10 years, the Ballon d'Or winners play in Spain, but it’s not automatic. If a player is better in England, he will win it.”

btw the day the ballon squad and iman were at the park few days earlier, i think they definitely show something bc iman doesnt wear all black outfits a lot when shes just hanging out, shes wearing colours or at least grey things in her outfit so its not like 100% black, i feel like all black is just sana's thing so i think they filmed something

I completely checked out this weekend and cleaned my apartment, napped (while listening to the kids from the condo next door have a water ballon fight both days how can you zonk out to that during the day but at night a tap dripping keeps you up) and watched mindhunter, excellent ed kemper, feel like it was really starting to get good by the end. Love the cars.

Neymar: ‘Leo is from another planet’

BarcaTV: Ney how are you? Very elegant as usual

Neymar: Thank you very much.

BarcaTV: Leo won five Ballon d’Or’s. That’s amazing, right?
Neymar: Really amazing. Leo for me… He’s from another planet. He’s not from here. Congratualations to him. I think he deserves it; he deserves everything.

BarcaTV: Do you see yourself over here lifting up that price one day?Neymar: I don’t know…  I hope so. I work towards that; so that can happen.

BarcaTV: Final question that I also asked Leo. Do you see yourself, Messi and Suárez nominated one day?
That would be a brilliant dream. The three of us here; let’s hope that happens next time.
